  1. Exactly. She can be worried that she might have cheated on Emmett, but she can also be scared that it's not that simple and that she was violated by someone who she thought was her "friend." Especially when that "friend's" story isn't adding up and goes against what she knows inherently about herself. She knows she's never wanted to have sex with Tank, but here he is saying all this stuff that doesn't make much sense to her. It doesn't add up. And Bay's cheated before. She knows what that feels like. This ain't that. Regina just unwittingly provided a possible explanation for why she is feeling the way she is. Not that Bay was looking for some "out" for cheating on Emmett. And Tank should do himself a favor and admit to the possibility of wrongdoing on his part. Bay has. His incredulous attitude that Bay somehow doesn't like the fact that she slept with him is off-putting. He knows damn well that she was never into having sex with him before, so his attitude now is sort of gross. Like, "how DARE she try to act like she wasn't totally into being with me!" It's close to "you know you wanted it" territory. The writers keep talking about how he "cares so much" about Bay, but if he did, he would be horrified that she's hurting and he may have been the cause. He frankly looks like a fool. I can possibly buy that at the drunken moment he really believed his fantasy that she was going to break up with Emmett to run back to his open arms, but to continue to act in the light of sober day like that was remotely plausible makes him look sketchy. Unless he's supposed to be sort of slow, he knows that was never going to happen. I don't know if he's embarrassed, trying to save face, or if he's so desperate for Bay to want him that he really believes it, but he needs to give it up. Not that I ever bought it, as he does have a history of being quick to anger and aggressive when he doesn't get his way, but that "nice guy" shtick is done. Why was he surprised that Toby was sticking by his sister? And no. Bay didn't rape him. He clearly doesn't have an issue with HIS consent. Someone on Tumblr, can't find it at the moment, posted a screenshot of Bay looking at the ceiling in the room and a screenshot of Tank looking at the same ceiling. The shot from Bay's POV was all blurry and out of focus, but Tank's was normal and clear. I don't know if it was intentional or not from the writers or the director, but it was interesting nonetheless.
  2. On this show, the "sister" thing only applies when it's Daphne who needs someone to look out for her or throw away their life and future for her. Not Bay. Lizzy Weiss after the summer finale went on Twitter and said that Daphne/Bay were like Anna/Elsa from Frozen and I literally guffawed at that bit of nonsense. Anna/Elsa were in no way the one-sided mess that is Daphne/Bay. And neither Elsa nor Anna would have just stood by and let the other hurt themselves so they could selfishly get off for their crimes. Bay is Daphne's sister. Daphne is not hers. Sisterly backup in this instance would make sense since Daphne's whole supposed reason for not going away to college was to there "for Bay." But I'm sure it's coming. When it's too late. She'll be there to play the supportive "sister" who will get Bay through this and earn her redemption for Bay taking the fall and once again, everything will circle around back to her. I'm sure they'll thrown in a lecture or two to Bay from Daphne about the dangers of drinking and her experiences with Regina. And how lovely that Emmett was the only one in the family there with Bay celebrating her being off house arrest. They were practically cheering her on when she took the fall, but nothing when she completes a part of her punishment that they know has been hard on her since they've commented on how much a pain she was during it. Why no family dinner or family outing to avoid something just like what ends up happening? More proof that she isn't shit to them. But, just like Daphne, when it's too late, they'll show up with lots of love and support. Too bad it takes something bad happening to her for them to care. The entire set-up for this story, Bay and Emmett's out of character fight, Bay attending a party at Daphne's dorm and Daphne almost automatically disappearing, Tank randomly appearing because that's all he does, etc. are all just a sloppy set of circumstances that really don't make sense, but all push the ultimate goal forward which was the big reveal at the end of the episode to set-up their annual BIG EVENT episode for ratings and attention. Much like Daphne's sudden turn around in regards to Angelo last season which didn't make much sense, which foreshadowed the BIG EVENT episode of his death, which was all done just so they could do that big thing with Daphne spiraling out of control. Which, in the end, meant absolutely nothing, since Daphne was not held accountable for anything she did. This whole thing will probably be the same. Except Bay will actually have to live with the fallout of what happens to her. No one to come in and save the day for her at the last minute. It's ironic how the parents, John in particular, were ragging on Bay for wanting to go to LA with Emmett, John even calling her a puppy, but look at what her life has turned into since she didn't go. She's a felon and will be a victim of sexual assault. I wonder how long they continue to claim that it was worth it because "Daphne gets to be a doctor?" Will Bay still claim to be willing to do it all over again?
  3. Minus his face, as I do think he's handsome, this is always what has bothered me about the character as well. He just comes off as so desperate and needy ALL the time. But he plays it off with the non stop goofiness and joking around. It's tiresome and disingenuous. The thing with Bay has always come off as desperate to me. I don't doubt he really liked her, but it's like he's never been able to accept that the relationship wasn't meant to be. He was always way more interested in her than she was in him. And would do whatever or say whatever to make her want to be with him or please her. Even if it was not really what he wanted or if he was hurt. I'm remembering that big speech he gave her about how he'd be different and better than her other boyfriends and he was willing to do anything for that to be true. I don't know, or really care, why he's like that, but I've never found it attractive. And once Bay got over Ty's lie, I don't know what she got out of even being friends with him. Once she was back together with Emmett, she really had no use for him other than trying to make up for cheating on him. Even now, Tank only shows up when Emmett's not around or when there's trouble with Emmett. It's downright weird how Tank only shows up when Emmett is gone. I don't know if the show knows that Bay wouldn't give Tank the time of day when things are fine with Emmett or if the chemistry between Vanessa Marano and Sean Berdy is noticeably so much better so they ship Emmett off-screen or it's just coincidence, but it's true nevertheless. Even in the episode when Bay tried to help with Tank's dad, Emmett only made an appearance to argue with Bay about it in one scene and then he was never seen again. And when Bay and Tank first became a thing in the first part of Season 3 last year, Emmett was not in those two episodes at all. The two episodes that he's been in so far this season have been when Emmett was away and not able to pick Bay up from community service and of course this past episode when Emmett is once again not around AND after a fight with Bay. But when Tank shows up, they're supposed to be such great friends. It's not real to me. He comes off as being glad for any attention Bay gives him. Which is why I think he will take her behavior while drunk and incapacitated as something more. He will see what he believes to be his chance finally and take it. Still doesn't excuse it though. There's no way he doesn't know that she's drunk. None.
  4. Apparently it is. The fact that he sleeps with her may be the only thing that isn't in question. And didn't he only come to the realization about the fraternity after Bay made it plainly clear she was never going to be okay with it? I took that more of a gesture to please Bay and stay in her good favor than any personal stance of his own. Ever since he got over his anger about Bay dumping him for Emmett, he's been shown, in my opinion anyway, to be sort of desperate and pathetic in his attempts to continue to be in her life in some way. The dinner where he lied about Bay being his girlfriend and offering to go with her to see the doctor about the aneurysm even though it wasn't appropriate are just some examples. We'll see how it plays out, but I wasn't digging that "I won't tell anyone" line to Bay in the promo. Yeah, Tank, that's just what Bay needs. For you to be able to hold a secret over her head. I've never bought the "nice guy" shtick the writers have always tried to sell with Tank. It's always been too heavy-handed. Yeah, he's done some nice stuff for her, but he's also had some not so great moments as well. He's not reacted well in the past to the fact that Bay never wanted to sleep with him and that she was never really into the relationship with him. To me, he's always come across as desperate and pathetic in his interactions with her, as if he'd never had a relationship not work out or something. For the record, I'm not excusing Bay being wrong for cheating on Tank. She was. But she's not wrong for not wanting to be with him in that way. That's just how she felt and that's allowed. She never owed Tank anything in that regard. And I don't think that just because he's done nice things in the past eliminates the possibility that he can ever do something extremely messed up. I've seen that opinion around and I just can't agree. I don't think there's any way these writers are going to do this story any justice. It's just going to be a mess and at the end NOTHING will be accomplished other than to shit on Bay some more. The show will not take a clear position on the issue and will just leave everything up in the air and up to the viewer. The conversation will be enough to generate some buzz and maybe bump the ratings a bit which is what they really want. At the very least, taking out the alcohol and all the other issues, Tank is going to take advantage of the situation. The level and intent to which he does will be determined. Tank sleeps with Bay knowing full well that she's in a relationship with someone else. Bay said the long distance relationship with Emmett was hard, not that the relationship was done. He's now no better than anyone else in that regard. The fact that he's sleeping with Emmett's girlfriend when Emmett slept with his girlfriend first doesn't make him any less wrong. I also won't be surprised if that comes up in his protestations that he didn't do anything wrong, but we'll see. I think he's still upset about the whole thing. He's finally going to get what he's wanted all along. Too bad it's going to take Bay being out of her mind drunk for it to happen. Not a good look for him regardless. He also knows she's drunk. He may be as well, but HIS consent doesn't seem to be in question. Bay's is. I'm of the opinion that there's NO way he doesn't know she's affected by the alcohol. He knows what she's been drinking. In his mind, with his desperation to have her want him after her rejections in the past, her drunken behavior may translate into that she finally wants him, but if she's so drunk to the point that she can't remember and can't consent, it's rape. That's the law. He may not have had any malicious intent, but it is what it is. I don't see a problem with speculating about what may happen based on what took place in this episode. The promo clearly shows that the events in this episode are going to carry over into the next. It's a perfectly acceptable action and everyone does it all the time.
  5. Yep. And every episode so far since the show has returned has been some version of this. Daphne has a problem, everyone rallies around her, problem is fixed, and Daphne is happy by the end of episode. While Bay gets some new issue to deal with piled on top of whatever was wrong before, nothing gets solved, and she never gets to be happy. But I'm expected to buy them as "sisters?" Um, no.
  6. Thank you! You want to tell a story about a big issue on college campuses? Fine. Do it with the character who is, you know, actually in college. Not the one that you've already repeatedly taken everything away from. The only thing that was realistic about Bay and Emmett's interactions was that it would be different after so much time apart and that Emmett would question Bay about coming to LA after she was willing to put that into jeopardy before. The rest? Not believable at all. Emmett talks about how he didn't tell her he was having a rough time because he knew she was also having a bad time, but proceeds to keep talking about having fun with a girl who kissed him as if Bay would react well to that given their history. Dumb. The whole thing was just a sloppy set of circumstances to set up the big crap with Tank. It's so annoying how Daphne's story of the week gets happily resolved by the end of the episode with a hug and a toothy grin like it's a '50s sitcom.
  7. I think I'm close to done with this mess. Is Travis Melody's only son now? All that worry and concern and anger about Travis, but the show couldn't manage ONE scene, even a mention from her, about Emmett? The child she sent to California who was so apprehensive about going? Nothing about him being home and her being glad to see him? Nothing? Really, show? But she's running around fretting about the man-child Travis. Over baseball. Too bad she couldn't spare a moment to talk to her son about how he was doing. And once again, everything works out for Daphne. Regina's playing helicopter parent talking to the professor, but none of the parents have lifted a finger to do anything to help Bay through her post-felon life other than treat her like a bothersome nuisance. And Regina? You only now don't like the person Daphne's becoming? Is this not who she ALWAYS is? Entitled, condescending, selfish, and arrogant? But per usual, a big hug and a toothy grin and all is right with the world. And of course she gets more special treatment. I really hope the professor is offering to tell everyone who got a low grade what they did wrong and offer them extra credit. But who am I kidding? Special snowflake Daphne is the bestest, most specialist, princess ever. Everything has to be twisted and made to work for her. No matter. what. Kudos to whoever it was, I think it was here, who predicted that Daphne is going to, again, want a guy whose with someone else. And she will justify it with the fact that the mean girl doesn't deserve/isn't right for him. The dichotomy between how everything ALWAYS manages to work out for her and how Bay keeps getting dumped on over and over again is astounding. But I think the show is suggesting that I'm supposed to buy them as close sisters on the same level or something. Bull and shit. On to Bay. What's the next story for this character? Nervous breakdown? This is overkill. The show has already knocked her down. Why the need to keep kicking her in the gut over and over? The dynamics between her and Emmett were just weird and not authentic based on their interactions in the past. It was all a set-up to once again blow them up. And seriously show? Can't you come up with something more original than one of them sleeping with someone else/each other as conflict? First it was Emmett sleeping with Simone, then it was them sleeping with each other, now it's Bay sleeping with someone else. They've had NO other major conflict beyond this. It's twisted. I shouldn't be surprised though. These writers haven't had Bay act like Bay in awhile. She's been twisted to fit this "Daphne should be a doctor" mess. So much of the stuff that has come out of her mouth hasn't even sounded like her. Last week's "I'd do it all over again" being example number one. I wasn't buying anything going on between Bay and Emmett tonight. It was all set-up for the end. Emmett wouldn't be oblivious to the fact that Bay was restless from the house arrest. They were talking at the very beginning how excited she was to be done with the house arrest. There's also no way he would be so insensitive and assume Bay would take the kiss lightly based on their history. Bay would not be so clueless as to his interest in film and ignorant of the films he likes to watch. Also, she told John (they showed it in the previews!) that Emmett needed to make friends or he was going to come home, but she's surprised that he was lonely? It was sloppy and not subtle at all. It didn't sound like them at all. Skye understands him now and Bay doesn't! They all of a sudden don't fit anymore! Bay's going to get drunk because she's upset and sleep with Tank! Shocking. The only thing I was buying from Emmett was him asking her if she was going to change her mind about going to LA again. She did throw away their plans for Daphne mighty quickly. I just hope this doesn't ruin them. Bay's going to have to tell him everything. IF the show does the right thing and presents this as the sexual assault that it is, he will need to be understanding and supportive at how she was violated and try his best to not let his personal feelings get in the way of supporting her. Of course he's going to be upset and angry that Bay was with someone else. But there are extenuating circumstances here. If nothing else, he knows the shame and regret of doing something like this. I expect him to be hurt, but Bay's well-being should be his focus. I don't trust Lizzy Weiss at all to do this story justice and call it what it is. I also don't trust her to dirty up the halo Tank has been given by labeling him a rapist. He's always been the "nice guy," good ol' lovable, goofy Tank. It's sexual assault. Bay doesn't remember and she was too drunk to consent. Period. From the promo it appears Tank remembers what happens, so he knows full well she was drunk out of her mind. How could he not? He also possesses the knowledge that she was upset about her and Emmett and the long-distance relationship. But he's going to somehow logically turn that into she wanted to sleep with him? Come on. I have no doubt he will play the victim and claim that Bay was into him. I bet he throws her sober and conscious decision to sleep with Emmett while dating him in her face too. That he didn't think she would have a problem sleeping with him while with Emmett because she did with him. I've never liked him. He's so thirsty. Bay didn't want to sleep with him before when she WAS dating him, but he thinks that she would want to sleep with him now? He's going to get what he wanted before while Bay is drunk and incapacitated. Whether it's conscious or unconscious on his part remains to be seen. Regardless, no more "nice guy" for him. Although I'm sure, Lizzy Weiss will have Bay take the appropriate blame for her actions. Because on this show, it's always Bay's fault. The only good that can come out of this is that he's on his way out for good. Bay isn't going to want anything to do with him. The bullshit tie to Toby they forced will done as Toby's going to support his sister, so peace out Tank. This whole thing is gross. If the show wanted to do this with Bay, they should not have had all this other shit happen to her. It IS an important story to tell, but I just am like really? Why Bay? Why does she get kicked in the face again? She's going to feel violated and guilty and potentially lose someone who has been shown to mean the world to her? Yet, I'm supposed to be glad they're tackling this topic? No. Just no. And watch Daphne gets to play supportive sister. This will be her redemption and somehow circle back to her like everything else on this show. Bay will get the lectures and the disapproving looks, but Daphne will once again be the "good sister" and it'll be "Oh Bay . . . " once again. I hate this show right now. I agree. There are no winners.
  8. Bay's sacrifice was too much pressure for her! She couldn't focus! It was too hard for poor Daphne! Bay being mean distracted her! John would yell at her for doing the thing he was patting her on the back for before. He bugs. He's going to be spending more time with Travis? How about finding some way to help Bay with her future instead of Travis? Travis is so redundant to me. He's Emmett if Emmett hadn't fallen out of favor with the writers and been replaced. Other than his family situation, there's no reason to me that the stories they give him couldn't be given to Emmett. He's Melody's son, has a hearing girlfriend, and is hanging with the Kennishes when Emmett gets no story with any of that even though he was originally involved in all of that. I'm also tired of his sad, puppy dog face and annual sob story. I'm sure the magic, never before seen baseball skills will manifest into his annual temper tantrum about how hard or unfair things are for him. Never happen. Even when she messes up, there's always an excuse made for her and she will always lands on top. This show would be much better if it got over it's obsession with Daphne being at the center of everything going on.
  9. Did you see this tweet from the creator/writer? https://twitter.com/LizzyWeissSAB/status/557729826908672004 My jaw just dropped. What about Bay? When does she get to have some lighthearted fun and happiness? I guess Daphne throwing mud at her because Daphne was tired of dealing with Bay being mad at her counts as fun. This show continues to present Daphne as some long-suffering Deaf heroine, while Bay is just a spoiled brat who they all just have to deal with. It's so awful how everything always circles around back to Daphne and what Daphne wants and what can they all do to make sure Daphne is happy. I'm sure whatever the promos are suggesting happens with Bay will once again circle back to Daphne somehow. It won't be about Bay. It will be about Daphne being a good sister to Bay. Too bad she couldn't have been a good sister and not let Bay take the blame for her. But "Daphne gets to be a doctor" has become the catch-phrase to justify anything that happens to Bay from this point forward that could have been avoided if she had gone to LA with Emmett. I really hope Bay one day recognizes that none of them give a shit about her well-being and packs her stuff and gets the hell out of there. She has NOTHING going for her with her family in Kansas City. Nothing. No school, job, anything. She serves no purpose other than making sure "Daphne gets to be a doctor." The writers don't seem to be interested in giving her anything to do either other than be a pain that her long-suffering family has to deal with.
  10. I would SO watch a show with Bay, Toby, and Emmett in LA. I've often thought this is a dynamic that the show doesn't highlight enough. Emmett and Toby are really Bay's staunchest and consistent support systems. I would love to see them working together in support of Bay. Bay has also shown that she supports and loves them as well. There are no conditions or selfishness on any of their parts. It's ridiculous that we're two episodes in and Toby hasn't had any scenes with Bay. They are there for her no matter what. It makes total sense for the three of them to be in LA trying to make it in their respective career paths. I'm not all that familiar with Kansas City, but is it really known for producing filmmakers, DJs, or artists? The three of them can take the influence of their hometown to a larger audience. This is such a great idea. It's a wonder no one on the writing staff hasn't considered this rather than throwing Regina into yet another East Riverside plot and another boyfriend. It would be the perfect time for her to finally form some kind of meaningful bond with Bay and actually show that she gives a damn about her. Daphne's not around, so Bay and Regina could have some real time to bond, but no. Regina's wasting her time in East Riverside. I would be perfectly happy to never hear about East Riverside ever again. And if Kathryn and Regina need a project, it would be great if it were helping her daughter salvage the life that she threw away for the other daughter. They could show Bay that yes, she does matter, and help guide her through the realities of her new situation, but again, nope. Kathryn is making a musical. A musical. I just don't get why they can't spend that time talking to Bay, or doing things with her. I don't know, I'm not interested in the parents' subplots. They're boring and not captivating in the least. Especially when they have nothing to do with anything else. And especially when their time could be better spent with the child who they emotionally and continuously neglect. It wouldn't have killed either of Bay's mothers to maybe ask her how she was handling being away from Emmett. Something. They've all moved on. Daphne's fine, so Bay must be too.
  11. Oh, I don't think he'll cheat on her again either. I agree that Emmett isn't going to mess up his second chance by doing that again. I was being sarcastic about the stupid promo people and show even throwing that image and idea out there. At this point, it's pretty clear that neither Bay or Emmett are ever going to want anyone else or do the cheating thing again. So why even bring it up? It was just eye-roll inducing. For what it's worth, I don't think Emmett's going to be in LA for very long. I don't think the show is going to dedicate much time to his life in LA because it's been a long, long time since Emmett has had much to do, so unless they send Bay and/or some other established characters out there with him, he'll end up back in KC with the rest of them. If it was Bay or Daphne alone far away from home like that, it would be one thing, but not Emmett. He isn't going to get his own cast of new characters like Daphne has so I don't see him being away long. And like them or not, Bay and Emmett are presented as the big couple of the show, so if she isn't going out there with him, he won't be out there long either. I wish Bay would pack her shit and leave though when she can. The parents don't care all that much about her well-being, so she needs to get away from there as soon as she can. For her own sanity and well-being. Maybe Emmett will have to come home because his parents can't afford his tuition long-term or something. Emmett mentioned when he first got accepted that he wasn't going to go because it was "super expensive" and nothing was ever said about how Melody and/or Cameron were paying for it. Or he can't make any friends and decides that he gave it a try and comes home. It happens frequently in real life. So many kids are forced to leave school because their parents end up not being able to afford it or they just can't adjust to being away. He won't have any regrets as he did give it a go. It would be an interesting story to tell about going away to college. Since Daphne seems to be getting the happy, adjusting well to college life story, maybe Emmett can get the not so successful going away to college angle. I agree. I just don't understand why she thinks she owes anyone anything. She doesn't. She tries to be decent and that's all she needs to do. The parents suck. Bay has NO value to them unless it's saving Daphne. I don't like how the show keeps focusing on how LA was all about Emmett for her. He was the catalyst and a big part for sure, but she had her own things planned. She had a job lined up and was signed up for classes at the art museum. Sure, it wasn't planning to be a doctor, which apparently trumps all, but she did have plans. Everyone acting like it's no big deal that she gave that up is annoying. I don't care if her plan was to bum around with nothing to do, it doesn't mean she should just throw it away because it's convenient for Daphne. I also keep foolishly hoping for the same. But, nope. Daphne always lands on her feet with no consequences or accountability while Bay keeps on taking hit after hit after hit.
  12. This episode was super boring and a whole lot of nothing. Kathryn/John/Regina are boring. Regina's scenes with the coffee guy in particular were sooooo long. Yeah, they've totally moved on. Princess Daphne is safe and sound and that's all that matters. Their time would have been better spent actually checking in with Bay and actually maybe talking to her about what she did and why. They spent all of last week petting and fretting over Daphne, but Bay, whose life is forever changed, nothing. They suck ass as parents to Bay. As long as Daphne's okay, everything else is all good. Speaking of Daphne, didn't this Josh guy tell her up front he wasn't an interpreter? Why is she surprised he doesn't know the rules and procedures for an interpreter? And of course it all works out for her in the end with him and the study group. I give it two more episodes before she and interpreter guy are making out. Bay continues to not be able to catch a break. And no one really seems to care. It would have been nice to see Toby talk to her. But, no. Tank needed to be the one to pick her up instead of her brother. I did think it would take longer for the blond girl and Bay to become friends. She is such a Natalie/Sharee redux with the enemy that becomes BFF. I was glad Bay told her off because she doesn't owe that girl anything. It was just so stupid that she couldn't come to that conclusion on her own. She's not a stupid girl, but the show continuously portrays her as naive to the point of it being unbelievable. And really? Cheating/maybe cheating? Again? C'mon writers . . . you don't have anything else in your toolbox? I guess that's why the now random Tank randomly turned up with the perfect and sage advice that oh my god! worked in the end. He will randomly show up to be Bay's shoulder to cry on if Emmett cheats again. Lame. Did anyone else notice that in the picture that Emmett sent Bay, the actor is wearing the same exact shirt that he has on in the promo for next week? This show just doesn't even seem to be trying too hard anymore.
  13. I agree about the outlandishness of this whole Bay taking the fall for Daphne thing. None of it makes sense based on Bay's character in my opinion. The stuff she was spouting about Daphne at the beginning was over the top. Yeah, Bay and Daphne are on better terms, but it was like the writers deliberately had Bay waxing poetic about Daphne to make what she was doing palatable. It was too much. Maybe it was her trying to convince herself? I don't know, the whole thing was horrible. Now, I'm not being sarcastic, but what are you referring to when yo say Bay had a conversation with Emmett about the aneurysm? Yeah, she had the random talk with random Tank, but I really don't believe her and Emmett ever talked about it. There has been no conversation between the two of them about it. She went to Emmett's job and told him she wanted to go to LA with him, but she didn't say anything about the aneurysm in that conversation. She told John and Kathryn before graduation, but those are the only people besides Tank and the doctor who she has ever talked to about the aneurysm.
  14. When did this happen? Bay has never been shown having a conversation with Emmett about the aneurysm. It isn't even clear that he even knows. I'm sure he must, but Bay never told him on screen that I'm aware of, so when did this conversation occur? And why didn't anyone bring up Bay's potential for aneurysms when they were all patting her on the back for becoming a felon for Daphne? Didn't anyone think that the stress of what she's about to go through might increase the risk of her having an aneurysm? I would think that would be a concern. Oh, that's right. The whole aneurysm thing was a random plot to kill off Angelo which was a random plot to create Daphne drama. And they don't care about Bay anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. I didn't think he was being unreasonable asking her that. They were making plans together. Bay talked about those plans with both Emmett and John/Kathryn/Regina in the finale. Going to LA with him was HER idea in the first place. They're in a relationship that Bay herself described as "serious." I thought it came off as Emmett thinking of himself and Bay as partners. No one expects their partner to do something huge like that without talking about it first. No they aren't married or anything, but I didn't think he was out of line. And there was no perfect response to hearing something like that. At least he wasn't practically high-fiving her for throwing her life and plans away for someone who doesn't deserve it. Yeah, he had a moment of selfishness, but he was mostly focused on Bay and the repercussions for her.
  15. That's it. It's confirmed. John, Kathryn, and Regina value their princess Daphne more than Bay. Bay is just collateral damage in the quest to make sure princess gets EVERYTHING she wants. Seriously? John's celebrating Bay doing what she did? He congratulated her? Really? Regina and Kathryn mildly disapprove, but they're quickly on board as well. They then practically have a party while sending her off to community service? Nothing matters to them except for Daphne having everything she wants. They spent the entire episode holding her hand and petting her and just making sure that she was okay. Emmett was right. They all treat her like she's some fragile special thing. But rarely do they show that same affection for Bay. They were just so nonchalant about the whole thing. I couldn't believe it. What message are they sending to Bay? She's expendable. Her life isn't as important as Daphne's. Daphne is the priority. Daphne is most important. Toby and Emmett were the only ones speaking any sense about any of this. I was glad to see they aren't drinking the Daphne kool-aid. I really just couldn't believe this episode. Bay keeps getting knocked down over and over again while Daphne literally got everything she wanted. Everything. Daphne is a selfish, selfish bitch. Her nonchalant attitude with Toby about the risk Bay took was just jaw-dropping. "It's just a little community service & then it'll be over." "I wasn't going to get to be a doctor." Newsflash, Daphne. It'll never be over for her. She's going to carry it around the rest of her life. And then she has the NERVE, the fucking NERVE to talk to Melody about things being unfair for HER? Am I supposed to be rooting for her to succeed? I don't want to hear about "It was Bay's choice." That doesn't mean Daphne can't be a complete asshole for letting her do it. For actively participating in the lie. I have many more thoughts about this, but the whole thing is just SO unbelievable and rage inducing. And really? Daphne gets to do her community service and punishment that totally wasn't punishment in an office with two guys fighting over her which leads her to her supposed new "dream," but Bay's out on garbage duty w/ drug dealers? Yeah. This people who write this show favor Daphne over Bay as well.
  16. I see your point. . . if any of that actually happened. I'm of the opinion that it didn't. I believe Noah's version of events was actually closer to the truth in that instance. And while pulling a gun on someone isn't the best move, neither is anything Alison's done lately. And just like I don't believe that Alison should be kept from her kid for anything she did before said kid existed, neither should Cole. If he or Alison are good parents while still being shitty people, then she has no right to keep his kid from him. Alison has treated him like shit all the way around and back again. If that scene really went down the way Alison remembers, he was entitled to that moment in my opinion. He has tried repeatedly to do the right thing by her and for her, but to no avail. Most people would snap eventually. Now if he had actually shot someone, then yeah, he most likely doesn't need to be around any kids. Like I mentioned originally, this kid is going to be fucked in the parent department no matter what. Alison has no moral ground to stand on really.
  17. Until I see a paternity test on screen, no way I'm believing that kid belongs to Noah. Alison has proven herself to be so fucked up and dedicated to her dream life with Noah, that I wouldn't put past her for a second to knowingly pass off another man's child as Noah's. I also wouldn't put it past her to deliberately keep Cole out of this new child's life if he is the father as punishment for what she believes to be his part in Gabriel's death. And I'm pretty sure she never told either Cole or Noah that she slept with Oscar and that this kid could be his too. I don't like her. All that talk about wanting to be alone. Yeah, right. Hopefully Cole and/or Oscar were smart enough to ask for a paternity test when they found out she was pregnant. Hell, Noah should have asked for one as well. But, he has shown himself to be just as much as a delusional, selfish asshole as Alison. He probably was sure, just sure, because of their great love that it had to be his kid. Never mind that he knew Alison was still sleeping with Cole during all of this just like he was still sleeping with Helen. Whoever the father is, that kid is fucked. Alison is a fucked up person through and through. Noah as well. I'm hoping the kid isn't Noah's because the two of them together are a toxic mix of selfishness and delusion. Cole and Oscar aren't saints, but the kid might have a better chance with either of them. I'm reluctant to judge either of them too harshly until they are shown from someone else's perspective. Noah and Alison need another kid like they need a hole in their heads.
  18. I guess I was supposed to feel bad for Alison in her version of events, especially after her breakdown about her son,but I didn't. Not at all. Not even a little bit. Was it a low blow for Cherry to bring up that whole thing about Gabriel and how she told Alison that something was wrong with him, but Alison refused to listen, therefore implying that Alison was the reason he died? Sure. Absolutely. But Alison got as good as she gave in my opinion. She went there because she was pissed that she wasn't going to be getting a big payoff in her half of Cole's share of whatever the ranch sold for. She was pissed that she wasn't going to have the anticipated funds to go live out her fantasies with Noah. So she wanted to throw in Cherry's face that she knew and was going to tell her sons and hurt her like she was hurting at the moment. She tried to spin it that oh, the boys were making plans and she needed to tell them, but if that was her true concern, she would have went to Cole first. Was she even going to tell him if he hadn't shown up when she was packing to leave? Sure didn't seem that way. So, no I didn't feel for her a bit when she started cutting and her breakdown in the doctor's office. Alison is just as much of a f-ed up, awful, terrible person as anyone else on this show. She just has "tragic death of a beloved child" as her trump and/or get-out-of-jail-free card. She does just as many horrible, horrible things as anyone else, but then the show always brings it back to Gabriel. I guess the show wants viewers to believe that she's doing these things because of the trauma of the death of her son, but I would need some proof that wasn't like this before he died. I don't believe that anyone could be like this without having had such tendencies all along. Helen's taken a lot of criticism for being judgmental and looking down on others that she feels are beneath her, but Alison isn't any better. Helen has done NOTHING to her, but she's the one sleeping with Helen's husband in Helen's bed, pouring out her shampoo because why? Alison thought is was too expensive? Who the hell is she? You're sleeping with her husband in her house, but you want to pass some sort of judgment on her because of her shampoo? She needs to deal with her own issues before looking sideways at someone else. I'm sorry, but I don't see what Helen's done to deserve to be treated like this. Her or Cole. Nothing Alison or Noah have shown to not like about their respective spouses justifies they way Alison and Noah are treating them. And I just can't help hoping that this comes back on her hard. Someone needs to remind Alison of that old adage, "If he'll cheat with you, he'll cheat on you." Noah may not cheat, but he's already starting to treat her in a less than desirable way than she wants. I also wasn't buying that "I choose me" moment at the end. Yeah, right, she's going to go off on her own and not choose either man. The previews seem to back that up as well. As for Noah, he's an ass. They both are. I just take issue with, in my opinion, the show acting as if Alison's behavior should be empathized with or excused because of her dead son. Whitney comes off as cold and a sociopath to me. She has like zero emotions whatsoever. About anything.
  19. I agree. Let's keep A.J. and lose Travis, Tank, Lily, and all the other pointless guest characters. He fit seamlessly into the Switched at Birth world. He was seriously great. Kudos to the actor as well. It must have been daunting to play a family member of people who have been playing family together for like three plus years now, but he fit in with everyone else perfectly. It would be great if he could somehow stick around in the real world. He makes much more sense than some other characters that are still hanging around with really no reason to other than the writers like the actor.
  20. Good read. Does anyone know what the deleted tweet was from Katia Winter that the article referenced? I didn't know she had said anything on Twitter that had ruffled any feathers . . . Was it as tone deaf as the writers? Thanks in advance!
  21. Not sure if this is the right place to put this or maybe it should be in the Abby thread, but Nicole Beharie has just been re-tweeting some interesting stuff in relation to recent discussions about the show, specifically her character: https://twitter.com/NikkiBeharie If I'm interpreting what she's trying to say in the right way, and I fully acknowledge that I might not be, then I say good for her. It's a fine line that she must have to walk in her position as an actress between not pissing off or being disrespectful to TPTB and her own personal opinion on her character and/or the show. This may be her happy medium. Some may see her re-tweets as passive aggressive, but I see it as her acknowledging the frustrations of the fans and maybe letting it be known how she feels as well. Good for her and Orlando Jones not just sitting back and accepting the status quo.
  22. I don't think Mushchamp has saved his job. He's going to lose at least two more before it's all over. Ending on the road AT Florida State in what has the potential to be a blowout loss isn't good for him. That being said, as a Gator, I was happy for him and the team yesterday. It was Mushchamp's first win EVER in the Florida-Georgia rivalry both as a player and coach (he played at Georgia) and the story of the walk-on backup wide receiver/holder/bagger at Publix getting the TD on the fake field goal was a good story. Matt Jones and Kelvin Taylor having great games was great too. And it's always nice to beat Georgia and make it a little harder for them to get to Atlanta. They needed that big rivalry game win after the season they've had and what's possibly coming, so if Muschamp ends up gone (and I believe he will be) he and the team have this great win/memory for the season.
  23. I also don't really see why he is needed. I'm scratching my head as to why Jenny couldn't serve the same purpose as him while having a personal stake in it all. It's especially annoying since ever since Hawley has had more to do, Jenny has been largely MIA. Crane’s utter looks of bewilderment and glances back and forth between the screen and the printer at the library were hilarious. I was cracking up at his faces and how he couldn't figure out how Abby got the screen to print out in physical form. That was a nice touch of Crane still figuring out the technologies of the modern world. Another nice touch of Crane still not quite being fully acclimated to his new surroundings, although not funny, was Crane not knowing CPR or what to do to help Abby after nearly drowning. His panic and helplessness were palpable. That was a nice contrast between him and Hawley in that moment. Guess CPR is next on the list of things that he needs to learn how to do. Not looking forward to any triangle between the sisters and Hawley or Hawley/Abby/Crane. I especially don't want Abby and Jenny, after everything they've been through and how long they were apart, to now have a new rift between them over a guy.
  24. I've seen this opinion around and I just cannot get on board with it. If Daphne didn't want her whole life to be ruined then she shouldn't have done what she did. It's not like she's being framed or something and her life shouldn't be ruined. She did it. What makes her so different from all the other criminals who also have dreams and lives that they messed up because they made bad choices? Daphne doesn't deserve for her future to be saved just because she's Daphne. She made choices. I'm sorry, but she just can't go and allow someone else's life and future to be put in jeopardy because of her own dreams. She gave up her dreams when she chose to break the law. Daphne wasn't brave. She wasn't selfless. She talked a good game, but jumped at the chance to get out of facing up to her actions. Bay is 100% wrong and responsible for her part in this, but Daphne knows Bay is innocent, but is content at the moment to let Bay mess up her life for her when she knows she did wrong in order to get what she wants. She's the one talking about doing the right thing, but she sits there and lets Bay take the fall for her. She's a selfish hypocrite. And the fact that she wants to be a doctor doesn't somehow exempt her from having to face the consequences of her actions. I keep seeing that because she wants to be a doctor and Bay wants to be an artist means that Bay can afford to be a felon. Like WTH. Bay can want to be a bum on the street, but that doesn't mean her future or her plans are less valuable or worthy than Daphne's dreams of being a doctor. Daphne is the one who needs to adjust. She likes cooking so she can open her own restaurant where she doesn't have to worry about her record. SHE messed up. Not being able to pursue medicine is the price she should have to pay. I just don't believe she had the gall to go along with Bay, basically acknowledging that her future meant more than Bay. She is at the core a very selfish person. At the end of the day, the only thing that truly matters to her is what she wants. She never sacrifices or does anything close to what others do for her. It's maddening. It's also very sad that Bay doesn't value herself enough that she would even consider doing this. Her dreams are her dreams. Just because they aren't doctor, lawyer, businessman doesn't make her any less worthy of having the chance to pursue what she wants. The fact that she seems to think that Daphne being a doctor is more important than her having a clean record is just really sad. And who's to say Bay can recover from having a record so easy. Sure, she wants to be a free-spirited, independent artist now, but what if she wants to go into a different art related field later on and she won't be able to because she has a record? Or she does a 180 like Daphne has so many times and decides she does want a more traditional career or job, but can't get the one she wants because she lied for Daphne? What if she wants to buy a home or get a loan and her having a record puts that all in jeopardy? So all the "oh having a record won't impact Bay like it will Daphne" is frankly just BS to me. Bay has no idea how much she could be messing up the rest of her life by doing this. And why should she or anyone else just give up their good name and clean record willingly for someone else? Why would anyone even allow it. I also don't understand this nonchalant attitude about Bay getting a light sentence because she's a first time offender so that somehow makes it not a big deal or something she can easily recover from. Having a record is a big deal that will follow her for the rest of her life. This attitude on the part of some people that, because it's Daphne who will benefit, that Bay is doing the right thing is all kinds of messed up. Having a criminal record is having a criminal record. That's a stigma that I wouldn't want to carry around for anyone. Especially when I wasn't involved in any way shape or form and the person I'm sacrificing my life for has never shown an inkling of doing the same for me. Daphne is a taker. Her whole family minus Toby are running around trying to help her and throwing away their futures for her, but she just smiles her big toothy grin, throws out the occasional "I'm sorry," but never comes close to giving back to them what they give to her. I'm most interested in Emmett's reaction to this. Both Bay and Daphne are messing with his life as well with their lies. Emmett had JUST finished telling Daphne how important Bay was to him and she still lets Bay do what she did. What a great friend she is. And Bay nonchalantly brushing aside his reaction was not a good moment for her as Emmett's girlfriend/ great love either. They had made all these plans together and were embarking on this journey together and she just blows it all up without much thought of him. She's going to make him go? How you're going to do that Bay? Do you think he's going to give you his blessing and not be upset that you threw away what you and he had been working towards? And the whole LA move wasn't just about them being together anymore. Bay had her own plans independent of him that she's just throwing away. The museum job, the classes she was going to take. Those were all better than the nothing she had going on at home in Kansas City. Emmett deserves a little more consideration than he got from both his best friend and girlfriend. But that's been an ongoing theme with this show. As long as Daphne comes out unharmed, the bodies and destruction left in her wake don't really matter.
  25. I know, right?! And Emmett was so eager and willing to give her that night where she would have been the center of his world. His face (and he gives such great face) was so disappointed when he saw her come down in the suit and when he realized what it was about. And you could tell Bay was worried if he would like what she was wearing when she asked him before they left and at the end when they were outside. They both handled the whole situation very well. But they usually do when they are talking and communicating and being honest and not leaving anything out. The way they both handled it was great though. Bay got to take a stand and Emmett got to voice his disappointment, but told her she would always be beautiful. And she was. That suit with the corsage to match Emmett was great on her! And them as twins was actually quite visually stunning. They are still completely adorable when it's just the two of them interacting together and enjoying each other with no drama. The Matthew thing was kind of out of nowhere, but I was glad that it didn't cause any problems for anyone.
