I think I’m also disgusted that they let Dan’s son come out to the family visit, and now his face is Permanently on this show. Given Dan’s behavior, they should have brought someone else.
-
They need to give Kellee another chance. She was a good player to begin with, but this alone merits her getting another shot. The show really shot themselves in the foot by how they handled this.
-
Somewhere Dan Foley is cheering that he’s no longer the most hated Dan to ever play this game.
-
Just another reason to hate Dan. Look what he deprived us of.
-
Which I think again is poor management in handling this. They should be out there. I realize for confidential reasons they may be limited what they can say, but saying something is better than nothing. This just seems like the show just wanting to brush this under the rug and hope everyone forgets by next season. I feel sorry for the contestants this season. This was a good season, and not doing something early on ruined it. It just snowballed from there. Aside from Janet there's no one I'm rooting for. I'd take Noura, but she's a distant second.
-
Sadly, I can believe it. They probably want to make sure it is edited and comes off making them look good. And, in case things get heated, they can make sure things don't get out of control. I'm assuming Dan won't be there.

I was wondering the same thing. I thought it was because Elaine left and they wanted to give her a nice send off. When they cut back to camp, I was worried we were going to have a medevac happen. Or that someone was going to be told they had to leave for a family emergency. I wonder what everyone that was on this season is thinking about this development. Dan could have just spoken inappropriately with the producer, or whoever, and that was enough to get him removed. Though considering how surprised he seemed the first time when the allegations were brought to light, I still wonder what kind of a warning he got.
-
I'm just pissed Elaine also went home, and then Dan ended up getting himself removed. Who knows how long after TC it was, but still. Whatever the case, took them long enough! So yes, there will be one less juror. I'm wondering if this means we'll get more of the reunion show? Usually with a 6 person finale the reunion show has been starting later and later.
-
So it looks like the spoilers are aligning-Elaine went this episode, Janet found an idol, Dan had an unconventional edit, and they alluded to Lauren making fire tonight (I'm guessing against Noura maybe). Janet probably goes next week due to the idol nullifier. So does this mean Dean doesn't get to make a fool of himself with the legacy advantage, since it could only be used up until the final 6?
-
*Sigh* Could this episode have gone any worse? They pretty much gave the boot away, with Elaine’s farewell send off. Thankfully the Kleenex were nearby. So she got the boot, and Dean not only won immunity (to finally believe his challenge beast fantasy), but also a powerful advantage that can take out the only likable person left. Glad next week is the finale. At this point I’m rooting for Janet, but will take Noura. ETA: Oh wait, Dan is gone too! Hot damn! Something good did happen! Given the fact that everyone was shocked by what went down the first time with Feely Dan, did no one really know until the season aired what happened?

At least he's remembered for that. What will Tommy be remembered for?

Which makes me think of something else we never have anymore, which was luxury items. I think the producers had final say what they could bring, because some of them made no sense. I don't know when they stopped doing that. I remember Kelly making those earrings for Sue, I think from her luxury items and odds and ends at camp. I remember those rat and fish traps they had. Supposedly the producers were planting food in them because no one knew how to use them. I think after Rich got fishing gear they didn't use the fish traps anymore. Eating rat seemed like such a big deal back then.

No, I'm right there with you. Remember in season 1, where the reward they got was 1(!) candy bar, to split between 6 people? And that the clue for that reward was a can of dog food, which both tribes ate because they were hungry? Or they got 2 blankets, where as opposed to now they get a whole outside bedroom. I also remember a behind the scenes interview with Jeff, where the contestants in season 1 were going to mutiny because Sean had just won night on a yacht (and he didn't even get to bring 5 people with him!), and the next reward was a bottle of beer only. So they made something up to make it seem more elaborate. To me, contestants in the last 20 seasons or so are playing a more watered down version of Survivor. They are playing a game where it's more about idols and big moves than anything else (and trying to get Sia to notice you). I know that the contestants were constantly looked after, and it's not like a real stranded in the desert or island situation where they have nothing, but I would really love a back to basics season. I can only imagine the contestants having to be happy for a bag of apples, and that's it.
-
That was probably my favorite moment of the whole season (not the emaciated part, the part where Jeff angrily showed up at camp and scolded them). I do get a kick out of how less cushy these older seasons were. Rewards then were one, maybe two things. Now they look like showcases on The Price Is Right. I'm sure weight loss was way more back then, but now, if you get to partake in the food rewards frequently, you barely lose anything.

Disappointing, but I think Elaine probably does go tonight. The episode description is basically someone is voted off before the big finale, and the previews I've seen are pretty dull. The one that keeps circulating is them on the beach, pulling a name out of the bag (probably for IOTI). I'd love it if Elaine goes back and manages to find something to save herself. Sadly, if not her, then probably Janet. Who would probably be blindsided to go, but I wouldn't consider it one.
-
Is it pathetic that I actually know them without looking it up? Except I always go from HvsV to Redemption Island, and forgot about Nicaragua. Which I don't consider a bad thing. Oh, I do forget about South Pacific, but also don't consider that a bad thing.
-
Yet it's going to give me nightmares lol
-
Can you imagine if they had to vote for their favorite teacher and didn't pick him? Yikes. The death glare would probably go on all year.
-
The only other thing I can think is, Elaine goes next, Dan discovers he and Janet are on the bottom (either because Janet gets blindsided at the final 6, or he and Janet are told ahead of time they are the next to go). He goes on a Brandon Hantz style rant and gets ejected from the game. Or just quits because he’s a big baby about it.

Some of my underrated favorites are Guatemala (11) and China (15). I thought both had good casts, some interesting characters and game play, and I loved the locations. I'm so tired of the island locales that I really miss land locked seasons.
-
Agreed. I don't think the 30s have been kind to Survivor, but this is probably one of the best seasons in recent years, and I think one of the better in franchise history. I'd also recommend Heroes vs Villains (20) and Micronesia (16), which I think are two of the better returning player seasons.

Survivors United (who I think has Sandra as a spoiler source?) is still saying there is a medevac. Maybe that's the unconventional way Dan gets booted? With no idols left in the game so far (we'll see if anyone finds any between next week and the final 5 when they can't be used anymore, but I'd say the odds are good someone will), I don't think we'll see a Cirie situation. Which ordinarily I never want to see one of those ever again, but if it happened to Dan? I'd stand up and applaud. I can see Elaine going next week, Janet/Dan finding themselves on the outs and getting picked off in 5th and 6th place. I wonder how Lauren is picked for fire, and who she goes against. Unless there's some agreement in place with Tommy, I don't see him sending her there if he wins F4 immunity. Of those left, Noura has the best track record when it comes to wins. Could she pick Dean to go to the final 3 because she thinks she has a better chance of beating him? And send Tommy and Lauren to fire? That would actually make sense. Or will Dean win the one immunity challenge that really counts, and take Tommy out of loyalty (what loyalty I don't know), and send Noura and Lauren. Also another rumor to take with a grain of salt (I read this at Clubs That Suck, but the source is apparently Jonny Fairplay, so...) but it sounds like Dan might not be at the reunion, and that others might be absent as well. The rumor claims they are asking Kellee who she wants at the reunion and who would make her uncomfortable, but I don't believe that part. Kellee has been pretty forgiving, and I don't think she would want even Dan excluded. She would likely want everyone there that has come under criticism to have the chance to explain themselves, and use it as an opportunity. I don't even think the show would give her the chance to direct the narrative. I could see Dan choosing not to attend the reunion, but I don't know if Jeff would pass up the opportunity to save face after how this was all handled in the first place, and yell at Dan.
-
Take this how you want, but the person who spoiled the final 4 and that Kellee had the idols, is saying Elaine is next, That Janet finds another idol, and Dan still has an unconventional exit. It seems fairly obvious Elaine would be next, as she’s the bottom of the totem pole. I figured it’d be her or Janet. If true, then I’m going into a finale rooting for one person, and clearly she ain’t making the final 3.
-
Yeah, when I went back and watched it I realized how misleading that was. My guess is he’s talking about Janet or Elaine.

I think Dean set out to accomplish 1, maybe 2, things tonight. He obviously didn’t want to vote out Tommy, and I think his decision was more of that and less that he didn’t trust Noura. He knew Noura would fly off the handle, probably even more than he expected. She laid it all out there while he sat there with that shit eating grin on his face. I have to wonder just how long Noura’s rant really went on. So the plan got exposed and Noura looked more like the crazy liar than he did. Second, he made it seem like she was untrustworthy, even though his whispering to Tommy is what set her off in the first place. I could be giving the guy too much credit, because hey it’s Dean. I’m in no way saying this was a smart or good idea, but clearly he got the desired outcome. And if they got rid of Noura tonight, Karisham or Elaine would have just went next. When I think about Dean and this game, he’s really been kind of irrelevant. Noura gets ragged on for screwing things up, yet Dean does the same. And he does it on purpose. In the beginning he was a non entity, barely getting any screen time. He was blindsided in two votes, almost got voted off if not for Kellee saving his ass. And then turned around and failed to return the favor by telling her they were coming for her. Someone who was actually on his side, yet he’s chosen to align with people he didn’t even meet before the merge and who owe him nothing and don’t seem to have any real loyalty to him. Yet Dean seems like he owes them, namely Tommy, and wants to be in their clique. I mean, he seemed weirdly pleased and happy in the end when Tommy did the whole ‘teaching with Tommy’ and they whispered to each other that that’d talk back at camp. Like he’s finally one of them. It seems like he’s just trying to find a place, and thinks that highly of how he’s doing (compared to how he’s really doing). I think Dean tonight burned enough bridges in front of the jury, that anyone in the game can’t help but think of him as a goat. If they didn’t already.
