  1. I thought that was a suPERlative episode, just for the sheer trainwreckery. A theme party featuring the barnacles! Lennie with a new, hotter, girlfriend--who actually seemed like a nice person. Twit couldn't even be bothered to get off the couch and introduce herself. I'm pretty sure Babs would have instilled in Twit some knowledge of the role of a hostess. I wondered whether Roy's statement that the restaurant was where some of "Shallow Hal" had been filmed was a setup for Twit breaking a chair. That whole thing was painful to watch. Lis it typical for the instructor to always be front and center in a dance performance? Twit dancing with a shit-eating grin plastered to her face, that was also painful.
  2. I thought he looked thinner! Hmmm, remember how when he first appeared on the show, and Twit was all about hoping Roy would learn to be proud of his weight, like Twit is?
  3. Some "random" dude saying its a good thing she's on radio and not television....she IS on television. Wouldnt this have been a time for her to consider that she is on TV, and has a show centered around her that is now in its 4th season, and LAUGH IT OFF? Anyone else would have said, "joke's on you, pal, and I'm laughing all the way to the bank." The Roy stuff is embarrassing to watch. Even more so than the rest of the show. Her whole thing where she showed up to interview people at Pride, and hadn't come up with questions--wouldn't a person who was actually freelancing for a radio station know to do this? I'd certainly think that someone with Twit's radio experience would anticipate the need and come prepared.
  4. Hot flow yoga is the last place I would take someone as deconditioned as Buddy.
  5. That was my reaction: Two weeks in a row, we've had people we can cheer for--where are the trainwrecks? I liked the part where she got out of the car and the horn didn't honk.
  6. I loved that they were going out of their comfort zones and trying new things. I hope that they find enjoyable activities and new passions, and get more opportunities to experience joy. During the CrossFit scene I was saying that the CrossFit people must have paid TLC a bunch of money to make it seem accessible and non-intimidating for people unaccustomed to hard physical exercise.
  7. I had the impression that he wasn't really experienced with eating salad, hence the giant mouthfuls. And does anyone have The Proposal Poem available? I remember something about "delicious brown food" and lost it right there.
  8. That's what I thought, too: He didn't want her knowing what his desired budget was. The jewelry stores he went to looked kind of yuck. I was surprised that Anfisa wasn't pushing to go to Tiffany & Co.
  9. I kept wishing there were a way to freeze the screen and then pan around to get a 360-degree view of the jewelry store. We kept pausing the program to point out some of the more amusing aspects: "Is that a neon sign?" " Look at the bathroom right there!" "Niiiiiiice wallpaper." We decided it must be a pawn shop. Not that there's anything terribly wrong with getting one's rings there, but I wonder whether the first three Mrs. Matts got pawnshop rings. I have the impression from Matt that he'd be one to cheap out on Alla because she's not American and he expects her to be impressed by anything he offers.
  10. So there's a pig that is totally dependent on Babs and Glenn, inappropriately sexual, and lives in a self-created mess...and then there's Allistair. I could believe Whitney selling out her dignity for money. It seems odd that Babs and Glenn would go along with it. Glenn in particular seems quite protective of Whitney and must be crushed by the way she is being portrayed/edited.
  11. Ugh, barf barf. Even though they pixelated Lindsay's pubes during the shaving scenes, that was still too much. Katja and Julie are in no way ready for a child. When the discussion is about who looks better with the big belly versus who will more easily find maternity clothes that fit, it suggests that the people involved have some growing up to do.
  12. The "xx days until assassination!!!" really irritated me. Also, isn't it just a *planned* or *anticipated* assassination at this point? Those titles left me wondering if they were giving away part of the story. I was so bummed that Miz Mimi died. I was hoping that she and Jake might talk about the future.
  13. If Jake can change things just by being there and whether he intends to or not, wouldn't it be risky to bet on sports outcomes? Perhaps in some small way, jake's actions could affect the players or game.
  14. I loved the book, but I'm also really enjoying how different this is from the book. It's hard to predict what's going to happen. But THIS is why having a sidekick is so dangerous. Interesting to see the return of the Yellow Card Man and the near-disaster of Sadie's surgery (would they use nitrous for that? I mean, that's what I have at the dentist during a teeth cleaning). I thought the Yellow Card Man was there to prevent Jake from making changes to things that had happened in the past, and Sadie getting cut up probably wouldn't have happened, or at least not happened in that particular way, had Jake not been there. At this point I'm kind of wishing for him to just forget the JFK plan and bring Sadie into his world. I'd love for them to live their lives in the past, but Jake would need credentials to work elsewhere as a teacher. But if he brought Sadie into 2016, would she stay the same age or become her 2016 age? I wonder if he will disclose to Miz Mimi. She would probably believe him, because his attitudes are so different from those in her day. I could see her finding comfort in the idea that the future will be better, that there will be a Civil Rights Act, an end to laws against cross-racial marriages, etc.
  15. I am still aghast about those leggings! To me it seemed almost like a passive-aggressive move on Whitney's part. "I'm going to wear these things that are totally inappropriate and they'll have to make an exception for me!" It seemed like she was testing the boundaries and rules--not what you want to do at a new job. I didn't understand why she couldn't wear the shorts. Yes, chub rub is a problem, and you don't even have to be that big to experience it. Whitney has been very large for a while; I'd expect that she would have figured out clothing alternatives by now. She wears dresses, do her thighs not rub together then? What is she wearing under her dresses, and why could she not wear that under a pair of shorts? Wouldn't wearing Skimmies or the 6X equivalent prevent shorts from riding up in the crotch? It was also off-putting how she kept talking about her agenda for No Body Shame. It seemed that doing the job she was hired for was secondary to what she might be able to learn and apply to her pet project. What they showed of her day at work--this is exactly why fat people face discrimination in the workplace. Not only was she unable to keep up with the physical requirements, she also (maybe especially) had an attitude. To be fair, I've seen the same attitude among a lot of others of her generation (apologies to Millennial-aged folks who have a work ethic!) that the workplace is there for their convenience and not the other way around. But in Whitney's case, the entitlement really came out around her fat-related problems...and that's what people will remember.
  16. I wanted to know more about the fiancé. Charity never went out; how did they even meet? And he said his job was taking care of her, but I don't remember seeing him in any of the hospital scenes. What was his deal? I was SO hoping Charity would somehow get to see her mom....even though she said she'd need to lose weight to travel and even though she said her mom's time was very short. I was still hoping.
  17. Season (Series) 2 of Dance Mums; wonder if it will air in the U.S..... http://renewcanceltv.com/dance-mums-with-jennifer-ellison-renewed-for-series-2-by-lifetime-uk/ Also, this little gem from the Daily Mail, which describes Danielle differently from how I perceived her: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2796000/are-women-competitive-mothers-britain-dance-mums-reveal-extreme-lengths-bid-make-daughters-dreams-come-true.html
  18. I hadn't seen previews for it, either. It was 7:03 p.m. West coast time, and Abb Lee was on my screen, so I checked it out. There was about a half-hour of Abby with a studio in Liverpool, then an hour of a UK Dance Mums (no Abby). The mums brought the drama. The dance teacher, Jennifer, seems a lot nicer than Abby and less inclined to tear the kids down. During the Abby session, I was amazed by how the kids seemed to adore Abby, with one girl wishing she were American...and one mum describing Abby as "a big black cloud." I DVRed future episodes. Definite Trainwreck potential.
  19. Angel lost an astounding amount of weight pre-surgery. Of course, I was wondering why she couldn't do that before the possibility of surgery was on the table. Did she/her husband not mention when they went to the hospital that Angel had recently had gastric bypass? I'd think that the doctor treating her there might have wanted to communicate with her surgeon (my partner said I'd be surprised by how many doctors don't get a patient's full history or consult with the patient's treating physician). I get the impression that Angel and her husband would go along with what a doctor said, and so they agreed to the feeding tube. I really hope Angel can forgive herself for a decision she made as a vulnerable 14-year old. She did what she thought was best, given the information she had at the time. I was worried that the husband was going to be one of those icky guys who gets off on taking care of a physically dependent person, but he seemed genuinely supportive and encouraging of Angel's increased mobility and independence. They didn't mention skin removal surgery for her, though. I wonder if loose skin contributed to the way she was walking.
