  1. I really hope Olivia Holt receives some sort of recognition for her acting in this show. Since episode 2, she has been playing Kate in the most subtle yet affecting way. I have not seen any of her other shows but she's impressive in this one. And Blake Lee does a great job at showing a variety of emotions and thoughts on his face. After Martin locked Kate in the basement and he sat down to play his vinyl, great acting!
  2. I forgot to mention Greg in the midst of all the more serious things that went down in this episode. He was totally inappropriate when he went to Martin's house to ask to use his phone. He knew Martin was reluctant but still barged in and crossed all kinds of boundaries by strolling around the house, touching things, looking at things and being nosy. Ewww. How rude.
  3. @Chicken Wing Wow, I'd have to rewatch that. But that does make sense if it turns out to be the case.
  4. Damn, this episode is really sad to watch. All the What Ifs. What if Kate has gone to school the next morning? What if she left immediately during that night when Martin told her to? She was so close to escape him and all of her trauma, but just small decisions changed the course of the entire thing. If she has left then, Martin probably would still try to manipulate her into a relationship, but may not have resulted in a kidnapping. But after spending the 2nd night there, there was no way he would have allowed her to leave. It's just really sad because no matter what her therapist tells her, Kate will spend a long time feeling guilty or conflicted. Probably this was why she had such a big reaction to the girl from Martin's past who claimed something about him. At least she finally smashed his grave in 1995, so I am hoping that means she doesn't carry guilt over it anymore. I'm still hoping that next episode reveals that Kate did not maliciously or spitefully lied about Jeanette seeing her. It would be quite out of character for her. All season long, Kate has shown that she does not have a mean or malicious streak. I mean, she called out Jamie for punching Jeanette.
  5. This episode was good in the beginning and the end but weak in the middle, when Nancy was going through the dreams-cape, facing each trauma. It got really cheesy for a minute there. CW shows sure love this concept, huh. I remember The Flash doing it too. I'm excited about Temperance Hudson. Hope she is as fabulous and evil as they have shown so far. I'm no fan of Gil, but even I winced the way Nancy dumped him. Lol. She basically said "I was only with you/liked you because of an evil parasite on me". Harsh, Nance.
  6. Besides Mallory being evil as a twist, I was also thinking how about Ashley being Anabelle? Not that I want her to be but she would have a motive. How was Berenice IV's relationship when Cleopatra? Still interesting to me that she chose that nickname and talked about it to Jeanette's brother. Is there a bigger significance? I'm just doing wild guesses at this point. Lol.
  7. Greg seems to lament losing his job and blaming it on Kate's accusation of Jeanette and the rumors surrounding Jeanette but if you think about it, he did deserve to lose his job over the key issue. He did not realized that a key was missing from his care for the homes he's showing?? That's a big security concern and he should be disciplined in some ways. Just a random thought, lol.
  8. Jamie is a big loser with a pretty face. He's not particularly good at anything, not charming, not funny, not mentally strong and just generally weak even by teenage boy standards. He's trying to convince two girls how much he cares about them. I'm glad Kate was smart enough to ditch him in '94 and even back in '93 she was already over him. Same with Jeanette. Those girls have much more fortitude in their pinkies than Jamie, who is having a self pity party every episode, when he never really had it that bad compared to him. And if he did, like the drink driving accident, it was his own doing.
  9. Mallory is brash and loud but I don't think she is a bully. She was annoyed that she got busted (at both Jeanette and Vincent) but if Jeanette wasn't so gleeful about sharing the news of Kate Wallis and was a tad more sympathetic that her friend got into trouble (like Vincent was; he was emotionally intelligent enough to ask Mallory what happened), I bet Mallory wouldn't have been so upset at her. There is a time and place to tell your Kate Wallis gossip and it was NOT the time, Jeanette! And Jeanette was the one who ended the friendship (even though she said/lied in 1994 in the mall scene* that she has always been there, like it was Mallory's choice). I just feel that Mallory, with all her flaws, was more genuine in her friendship than Jeanette was towards her. ETA: *Jeanette's exact words were: "Mallory, I don't know what's going on. But I'm here. I've been here. You can say that I pulled away from you, but you pulled away from me, too. So I don't understand where all this rage is coming from. But if you wanna talk, you know where to find me." Then, a hug, in the most manipulative/condescending way. Wow.
  10. If two of them have it, I don't see any reason why Jonathan can't have one as well. It's just stupid. Speaking of the word "stupid", I cringed when Lois yelled that word at him but the line that followed was even worse. That if he has died, it's on him. Okaaayyyy.... I feel like Lois and Clark have double standards when it comes to Jon and Jordan. Jordan can rebel, say hurtful things and lash out, but it is outrageous to them when Jonathan does it. Is it because he has been such a chill kid all these while, so they take it for granted? I wonder if Jon seeing his parallel universe father kill his mother will make him distrust Clark's powers.
  11. The twist of Nancy having a parasite on her will give interesting storyline moving forward but the foreshadowing was not as well done as Celia's death. Overall, this show does quite well with the plot and the mysteries. But sometimes I do feel it is missing "heart". When Nancy was distraught or crying, I couldn't feel much for her. I'm not sure if it's the acting or the character. Probably the acting. Usually for emotional scenes, my heart goes out to George, Ace and Nick, in that order. Speaking of Ace, he has been quite absent in the past few episodes. I wonder if the actor was busy with some other work during this time.
  12. Blake did almost no coaching with Cam. The only thing he effectively did was getting Cam on his team and keeping him there. I think Blake admitted it himself too. I bring this up because recently I rewatched some episodes from season 6, and all the coaches did heavy coaching. They weren't as jolly during coaching sessions (including Blake, which is quite a contrast to now) and were quite strict in molding the contestants into who they want them to be on stage. Now they are just cheerleaders mostly. Which should be a more comfortable experience for the contestants but sort of defeat the purpose of the show and having a "coach".
  13. Joy is up there though. She did two things that were quite unforgivable this episode. 1) When her lies were exposed, she assaulted her own daughter verbally and physically. And without remorse, continued to berate her even as she was packing to leave the house. 2) Sending "hate mail" to scare her own daughter and mess with her mind, so that her daughter will depend on her again. This is also for her own selfish need. So, Kate's question "Do you hate me?" is valid. Because she certainly acts like she doesn't love her daughter. Or even like her.
  14. I guess we will never know for sure. But I do think his English is better than we give him credit for. And he isn't stupid. I sensed it immediately when he interrupted Katy when she critiqued his Coldplay performance, telling him (in a diplomatic way) that she wished he did not change the melody. She did not finished speaking completely before he interrupted her with a quick "thanks". It would buy that he did not understand what she is saying if he waited for her to finish speaking. I interpreted it as him being rather passive aggressive and being dismissive of her criticism.
  15. Whether it's legally admissible or not, what Derek did is still very much morally wrong. Technically he asked Ash if he can use her computer to check his email but he did not get a response. So he did not have her permission to touch her computer. She may not allow him to use if she actually heard the question as she has private material on there. It's like someone knocking on my door and asking if they can come into my house while I'm not home. Proceeding to break in because there is no answer and then stealing my things. Even if she heard and allowed him to use her computer, it's completely wrong for him to print out the chat to share it with his sister without her permission. Anyway, if Derek and Jeanette are smart, they will not use this as evidence directly, but use it as a starting point to investigate and find other proof that Kate lied about not knowing Martin Harris. Use it as intel.
  16. Finally we see some fire from Jonathan. He's been so mellow the entire time, but it would be weird if he wasn't properly upset by his broken wrist. Even though Jordan didn't mean to hurt him, it still happened and a great inconvenience to him. I'm warming up to Jordan now too. He's starting to show as much consideration over his brother as Jon does to him. I like Lois and Clark and the whole family but the boys relationship is the heart of the show. I'm also pleasantly surprised by what an interesting character Sarah is. I find myself looking forward to her scenes. I still do not see romantic chemistry between her and Jordan, so I hope they do not revisit that. I like all the characters on this show except for Morgan and his hench woman with powers. Not because they are baddies but they are very one note. Especially the hench woman who can't act.
  17. If Jeanette is innocent, I get why she would want to clear her name with the law suit, but my heart broke many times for Kate in this episode. The poor girl cannot catch a break. At least Jeanette had 2 good birthdays in the 3 years. Kate's sucked for all 3 years. I still don't feel sorry for whatever Joy is going through but that mother-daughter argument scene in '95 was amazing. Well-acted by both of them. I'm starting to appreciate Mallory. She is awesome with Kate. Who knows, maybe she was annoying with Jeanette because she could sense some shadiness from Jeanette since '93. The scene with Wonderwall playing in the background while Kate sat on the floor eating, all the while Harris verbally abused and shamed her... that was heavy. It was hard for me to watch.
  18. Glad to have more info but his statement is annoying. If he isn't going to drop real tea, then what's with the vague passive aggressiveness of it all. I actually liked him last season and wanted him to win over Sam. WHAT "confrontations", Arthur?? Lol. We need more! Anyway, he was meh to me ever since he completely changed the melody of that beautiful Coldplay song. Chris Martin was very kind to him in spite of that.
  19. I'm a big fan of Cassandra too but she seems really not ready for the big stage. In a more intimidate setting, she's such a gifted artist. She needs to get more experience in performing to gain the confidence.
  20. As for women winning the show in the recent years, we did have Maddie Poppe, who was fantastic on the show. She is a white girl with a guitar and had a great run on the show. I still watch her performances back sometimes. She has a gorgeous voice, but not sure what she is up to now. To be fair, I don't really keep up. I'm fine with WGWG winning if they are talented and compelling. I wasn't into Kris Allen (I know people loved him), Lee Dewyze, or Phillip Phillips though. I loved Trent Harmon, but he was barely a WGWG. He was more of a soul singer, which I loved, but then he went country after the show, which was weird. For the finale, I liked Fall Out Boy's performance. Patrick Stump still has a big and beautiful voice. I didn't mind that I could barely hear the other guys. That song is a monster to sing, I rather they don't ruin it. Loved Casey and Luke. It was surprisingly believable and well delivered. Hunter and Katy sang beautifully. I wish the lighting wasn't so dark, though. Glad they brought back Tom McGovern, the jingle master. That was delightful. I thought he should have made at least past the audition round.
  21. I hope Arthur is OK. He didn't look that joyful to be performing on AI for the past few weeks. It is his choice to come back but I bet he wasn't prepared for the negative reactions for the returnee. It's putting the contestants in a difficult spot too. I could guess Chayce is winning since the Coldplay songs episode. Congrats to him! At least he is doing well on the charts, so that is something.
  22. Definitely Cindy can still be a wife and a mom as a flight attendant but I don't get the sense that her husband will be supportive of it. He would probably be making passive aggressive comments like what he does to Jeanette. I too find it difficult to differentiate between '94 & '95.
  23. Hope and Landon are going to be end game, so it's fine if they split them up for a while. It was getting quite unhealthy with the co-dependency from both ends. I liked Golem Landon, but I liked this Landon too. He has always been an interesting character who has gone through many difficult things and is quite resilient, without being whiny and angsty about it. In the meantime, I am all about Hope getting a new love interest, because why not. Ethan, perhaps? Hope seems into guys who she can protect. This episode and the last one are great, the show is really hitting its stride. I like Happy!Josie, so I hope she gets to be that at least for a while. Cleo and the new badass!Landon? I'm into it. I hope they stop with Caleb's crush on Cleo, though. It is obvious she isn't into him, so it was getting a bit uncomfortable now. It's better that she left so he can get over her.
  24. Me too. Nick's distrust of her appears strange considering he was good with her in the past 2 episodes. And it's not like Nancy was hiding anything from them. She told them she was going undercover as Everett's investigator. Don't they believe her on that? I would be pretty hurt if I was her. Good that she gave them a good scolding at the end there. They owe her an apology. At least Carson was there for her. Celia's reveal was very well done. It was well done because it was foreshadowed through out the entire episode. She was missing appointments, acting strange, only talking to Nancy. It didn't came out of nowhere. We have heard of the many bad things Everett has done. But have we actually seen him do it on screen? Like giving a direct kill order... He told his goons to take care of the reporter but it could mean anything, for argument's sake. And for the sake of entertainment, it will be more interesting if he wasn't the straight up evil big bad.
  25. I always prefer the Kate episodes to Jeanette's and this is no different. I think because even though Kate also went through different personality changes from '93 to '95, I still understand who she is as a person. For Jeanette, I can't get a grasp on who she is. It's not even the guilty/not guilty thing. I don't think she's guilty of what Kate accused her of. But she acts different each scene. They could have made the different layers of her personality more organic and seamless. But it's always, this scene we have Sweet!Jeanette!, then Creepy!Jeanette, then Menacing!Jeanette!. Sometimes within the same time period. Unless she is some kind of a psychopath, it doesn't add up. Nothing much happened to move the plot forward as well. It's sort of a filler episode and I probably feel that way because Jeanette's parents drama (including her dad new gf) is not that entertaining to me. I have started to like Mallory. She's brash and a bit much to handle but at least she appears more trustworthy and straightforward than Jeanette.
