  1. So Lord Brockenhurst finally said "last time." Too bad he didn't insist on paying the creditors himself. Glad they kept Mrs. Pope in the picture, and that Oliver finally addressed the elephant in the room (his parents' preference for Sophia) before his redemption.
  2. Yes; interesting how Dawson suddenly turned frosty when Ellis noted Mr. Pope's good looks. Want to bet she'd already spotted a resemblance? I love Maria's dark print dress.
  3. Oh, dear. Want to bet the Trenchards will be blessed with another Bellasis "grandchild"?
  4. Rex means king. The baby could keep that name regardless of where he lives. They actually had an episode years ago where Jay started learning Spanish. Gloria loved his heartfelt declaration of love, because he sounded just as stupid as she did in English. Gloria's distress at Jay's odd behavior evokes something that the show never really addressed: in a few years Gloria, still in her prime, may be married to a man who's developing age-related disabilities. Meanwhile, he's accompanying her to Colombia, so maybe Stella will move into Claire and Phil's empty nest.
  5. I like Stevens' rare moments of sanity: "You listened to US!??!" Too bad it was part of a fantasy sequence.
  6. Maybe we're confused because we expect a comedy show to be funny.
  7. I hope Larry the Cat sleeps on Lily's bed so they both get some love. Could the snake really have held all those chicken-sized eggs? And wouldn't boiling the egg have killed the snakeling? (Though someone would have gotten a surprise when it came time to eat the eggs.)
  8. And when she says, "My little brother needs me" they say, "Bring him along!" Would the bassinet really have been labeled Tucker and Pritchett? No matter how cooperative the biological parents are, it takes a while to finalize an adoption.
  9. Good thing Lily likes babies -- she'll probably end up raising this one.
  10. Then they're tolerating each other for Bow's sake. They must really like her. They gave awful advice, but they were too young to know better.
  11. I think she's a pretty impressive kid, to have united three such different girls in friendship. That was Harrison's first thought, but I doubt they could have unloaded the house that fast. Yes, letters are an option. I thought Alicia should have just written one to the neighbor (and left off the return address).
  12. Right. Paul and Alicia just need to have a talk with Harrison about throwing money at the kids. Trouble is, they haven't figured out their own attitudes toward money; Alicia's still carrying around her youthful assumptions, and Paul's overcompensating against his. When Harrison kept calling Alicia "son" I first thought he meant, "Son, you picked a great wife." And while the declaration was played for comedy, there's no doubt that he loves Johan. Too bad he didn't have the presence of mind to say, "Dammit, Alicia! When your Ferrari's in the shop, get a decent loaner!"
  13. And shouldn't Alicia have gotten a car that was at least as good as her sister's? Paul needs to have a talk with his father, but he could have taken a moment to be proud of his kids' pooling their resources for the common good.
  14. You mean the pastel Victorian top with the Elizabethan ruff and the tie hanging off it for no reason? That thing was heinous. Well, Ruby remembered Devante, and Diane knows her mom has five children. That's progress.
  15. Funny how Alicia got all snide about Bryce's parents identifying her and Paul at a glance . . . then thinking she'd identified Bow and Bryce the same way. I love how Denise and Harrison play off each other.
  16. Wow, a Devante sighting! And Bow even remembers him when he's out of her sight! Nice to see that Ruby's really quit undermining the marriage. If Junior can't come up with a better name he deserves to remain "Dre's kid" forever.
  17. I'm amazed that they remembered the dog. And relieved that they remembered the child. Sounds like the kids had something contagious, so maybe the parents are next. One can hope. . . .
  18. Here's a pitch Junior could make to American Express: Many members of Generation Z are discovering that their identities have been stolen and their credit ruined, so AmEx could get ahead of the other credit-card providers by targeting an initiative to these kids. . . . and then Pops gets arrested at his wedding. Good one!
  19. Maybe we're supposed to be touched but there's something a bit malign about Dre pulling Junior back into his orbit. "Loserboy might succeed? Gotta grab some of the credit!" If we have to head down that road, I hope Junior does something so great that he becomes the Andre Johnson of the local advertising world. Seriously, he's still Junior? Dre should have let him be Andy when he had the chance.
  20. Maybe they're setting us up so we'll be surprised when Junior does get his big break. His giving his all to Chore Boar, with no implication that it's really beneath him, is actually terrific progress. In my imagination, Junior becomes the most sought-after manny in Sherman Oaks. As a further step toward independence he tries to clear his ruined credit, and Pops gets arrested on his wedding day.
  21. All true. I remember Alicia dressing inappropriately for the office, and Harrison pointing out that he wouldn't bring deodorant to a sweat lodge. At least the show finally straightened out the Jackson/Johnson puzzle.
  22. Black-ish had an episode, "Johnson and Johnson," where Bow and Dre got into a stupid fight over whether she was using her husband's name or her father's. I think this show once said Jackson instead of Johnson, though. In other continuity news, grown-up Bow once reminisced about caroling with her sisters, plural. Could Paul and Alicia have lost a child? Paul's divorced (dead?) mother probably contributed some Germanic or Scandinavian ancestry to the mix. "Johan" isn't very hippie-ish; the kid has to be somebody's namesake.
  23. But once you deduct the costs of two infants' care from her paycheck, how much can she contribute? Manny was useless in this episode. That's actually as good as he gets. Hope Mitchell found some SPF 100.
  24. She didn't have it because Luke took it for his failed attempt. The clerk told him to move his thumb and called him Alexandra.
