  1. If you get an animal that will eat you after you die you won't be alone, and you'll give back to the circle of life. That's why I have cats 🙃
  2. HR lady for the Empire https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cr1NVKEpV5Q/?hl=en
  3. Have you seen the Empire's HR lady Instagram? Hilarious.
  4. Yes? They go to Mexico, sometimes with a stop in Catalina. It's basically the same itinerary if you leave from Long Beach, L.A., or S.D.
  5. I had mixed feelings leaving SoFi after a concert and it was just bacon-wrapped hot-dog carts for as far as the eye could see. Sanctioned street meat is good, and I presume the carts are some sort of catering service. On one hand, no options meant just getting whatever from the first cart you found. On the other hand, I miss having to pick a corner or go from corner to corner to get your tacos and your street corn. Though I went to a concert in LA and encountered the multi-cart options when we left. Unfortunately, I was too full to get my street meat fix. I still regret it.
  6. I miss running into a random taco truck, or street meat.
  7. That sounds amazing! Taco trucks are the best! If this is on Carnival just be aware these ships are the older ships. I used to take the weekend "booze cruise" with my friends, and the ships are fine for what they are, but it won't be the giant floating city ship you [may be] expecting.
  8. Since you asked, my suggestion is to contact your local feral cat community resources / TNR resources, Best Friends Animal Society, and get that poor boy neutered and released, or fostered, or sent on his way home. If he is coming in for shelter he could have been someone's pet and was dumped, left behind, or lost. Help get him to safety.
  9. I decided decades ago to not date someone who is ikked by periods or refused to pick up care products. I acknowledge that everyone is the hero and the star of their own story but the sooner people acknowledge their cashier (even if it's their 'normal' person) doesn't remember what they bought as soon as they walk away, the better. People don't remember what a random person has in their cart past the interaction. No one is that memorable.
  10. I eat a bowl of cereal and I'm not hungry until lunch. If I were to try to eat eggs that early I'd barf. It's a good thing there is a variety of food choices (and we're privileged enough to enjoy them) so people can do what powers their body best.
  11. I'm not speaking for RH here. So many foods contain protein and it's pretty easy to consume necessary amounts without eating meat or animal products. Here are two short lists - one for vegetarian and one for vegan diets. https://www.eatingwell.com/article/289961/top-vegetarian-protein-sources/ https://www.eatingwell.com/article/291111/the-10-best-vegan-protein-sources/
  12. Those are "each" prices. I used to buy a 6 pack at Costco for a little over $6. I usually see red, yellow, and orange bell peppers for $1.25/ea at Sprouts and would typically stick with green for significant savings.
  13. Many companies have an assessment requirement during the interview process. The goal is to screen for personality fit, critical thinking, logic, and reasoning skills, sometimes the goal is to ensure the person is qualified to do the job they are applying for with questions directly related to the type of work they will be doing, and other times they are a huge joke. But in the States, they are not illegal, and the personality fit one is pretty easy to game. Just pick the answers that best align with the type of job you'll be doing. If you're part of a team the answers should be teamwork centric. If you're a leader they should display that, etc... and if you do your homework on the company you can get a feel for the vibe and if they are trying to screen out people who are too passive, or too outspoken. I'm not a fan but they are a part of the process for the positions I was applying to so I chose to go with the flow. https://resources.biginterview.com/interviews-101/personality-tests/
  14. Vons (Safeway) has insane deals. Last week they had Quaker products for 74¢, each (limit 2), and other things like that for crazy cheap. Every week it's like that, and deep discounts on Friday. I just discovered the wonders of Winco. Zucchini and yellow squash for 99¢ / lb, beautiful English cucumbers for 49¢ (regular cucumbers are 29¢ or 39¢). Tomatoes on the vine are 99¢, avocados, 65¢, red, yellow, and green bell peppers are 64¢, etc... these are regular prices. Frozen foods are cheaper than at Target (I don't shop at WalMart). I was getting my produce at Costco but most of that has been shifted to Winco. That will probably save me additional money since it is less trips to Costco, too :D
  15. Was that for the position you mentioned above that is in recruiting? Regardless, you made it to the top 10 of whatever position that was for.
  16. Any updates on this or your hunt? Hopeful you find a way out soon. How frustrating. There is no good way to do mass layoffs but telling people on an individual basis seems to be a much better way. Then again at my previous company, pre-pandemic, they laid off an entire department on a Wednesday morning with an 8am meeting telling everyone in a conference room. If that wasn't bad enough, IT had disabled their badges and log-ins so people couldn't get into the building until the receptionist showed up. They were trying to be stealth and efficient but the mass badge disablement gave it away.
  17. I live and die by my budgeting app You Need A Budget.
  18. When I was still in CA my friends knew if I am out of the house, I'd stay out, but if I'm not out of the house by 7:30 or 8 pm I'm not going anywhere. So they made a point to invite me over to "pre-game" even if that was chilling at their house with water until we left for the destination. I prefer intimate gatherings to large parties and now my 'party' friends are also spread across the country (and we're also getting older which means less parties) so it's a moot point.
  19. I call that a huge win, it means you didn't pay significantly more taxes than you had to (even after paying an accountant). I use TurboTax and always aim to break even. The "new" (aka stupid) W4 tax form looks to be withholding the same amount as my self-selected W4 at my last job, which was the old tax form.
  20. I hate this style so much! I can't find it now, but there was a house with mirrored ceilings in the living room, a turquoise hot tub in the bathroom and it generally looked like a house that was used to film adult movies.
  21. I've started house hunting in NV, and man, 90s architecture is wild. No doors between the bedroom and bathroom in the master bath. A shower inside a small water closet with a toilet while a giant soaking tub is by the sinks just outside the water closet. No door leading to the sink and tub. Another house didn't have a door at all, it was master bedroom then where there should be a door, was just the bedroom closet, soaking tub, shower, and toilet. No doors at all. I noped out of that one real quick.
  22. Wow. I thought crazy shit like that only happened on Law & Order..
  23. Good luck! Is a "bad job offer" in the field you want to be in, that will get you out of call-center hell, really a bad job offer? You'll have to decide what you are willing to sacrifice to get out of where you are.
  24. I've posted my driving peeves including but not limited to people who don't signal, people who don't let signalers in, people who ride cruise control in the fast lane (but aren't going fast), slow drivers in the left lanes, and tailgaters. My newest one is nervous drivers. I know people need to get from point A to point B but if you are so nervous that you barely go 55 in the slow lane when the speed limit is 65 you are impeding traffic and are a danger. Take surface streets. Take a defensive driving course, do something but get the F off the freeway.
