  1. I was surprised too but this location isn't in a mall or near any other traditional Black Friday store. The main street I used to live behind had Lucky Gap, Banana Republic, and a bunch of other clothing stores. It was glorious to be able to go pick up clothing on sale without having to deal with the mall. I too wish stores were closed on Thanksgiving, which is why I don't usually patronize them on Thanksgiving. Then again I also feel strongly that everything should be closed on July 4th and open on Christmas since July 4th is America's fucking birthday while not everyone celebrates the [randomly determined date of the] birth of Christ. Also everything should be open on Easter because again, not everyone celebrates that religious holiday.
  2. I do my Black Friday shopping online. There was a shopping center by my old place with a weird mix of stores, including a Best Buy next to an Ulta. Last year I wandered into Best Buy several hours after they opened on Thanksgiving evening to see the aftermath and nearly every door buster was available.
  3. I did ask my boss if we can start having weekly meetings like I did with my old boss and explained that I feel really disconnected from not only my area but my company. I explained the weekly individual meetings and larger departmental meetings on a monthly basis and their benefits. The weekly meetings start the first Friday in December (since we're closed next week).
  4. I hate my new office building, I am not fond of my new position. Really regretting my decision and kicking myself for not listening to my gut instinct when I had issues with this area before I even started. I feel like I was sold one thing and reality is completely different. I left the most amazing group of people and office culture. I loved going to work every day. Here I am isolated in an office that has no visibility (literally or figuratively) and unless I get out in the field I have very little human interaction at work. I am a department of me in this building and I feel so isolated. The support that was promised isn't happening and my counterpart for a different area has no idea what he's doing, so it's falling on me to train him and bring him back to focus on our positions instead of running around trying to create work that has nothing to do with what we do. I'm contemplating reaching out to my old boss / old President and seeing if I can come back, somehow. I also need a money tree to repay the relocation money. FML Edited to add: As soon as I shared this someone in this fucking building turned on the A/C and now cold air is blasting over me and my little space heater (that is supposed to make up for how awful this office is - everyone in the building knows this office sucks) is running full steam and can't keep up. I've asked the facilities manager to have the HVAC team close my vents over and over again. I just sent another email about it.
  5. My apartment complex recently installed a package pick-up system. Before they installed it UPS would bring my orders to my door and I ordered things like cat food and cat litter online so I could avoid having to drag my stuff up stairs and jacking up my back. I'm seriously annoyed with this new system.
  6. Well yes, and you can also buy it online directly from Tim Hortons. It just irritates me based on the premise that I am someone who enjoys Timmies but lives (or used to live) in CA and couldn't just go swing by and get some coffee and Timbits
  7. I was too distracted by the bag of Tim Horton's coffee on Amy & Sheldon's counter to pay attention to the rest of the show. Penny working at "The Cheesecake Factory" when it was obviously not The Cheesecake Factory still annoys me. There are no Tim Horton's in CA.
  8. I got matched with a co-worker, solely due to our political preferences. I sent him a photo of my screen and we had a good laugh. I used to come across friends on Tinder. Swipe left left always left!
  9. I saved and saved for this Walkman. Because I was soooooooooo active I needed a Sport Walkman* *I had no need for a Sport Walkman.
  10. Once they know you're looking to leave you have a target on your back if you stay and they won't hesitate to boot you out the door if the business need arises.
  11. Holy crap! I was like WTF are you talking about, did some research and had no idea their founder is a homophobic douchenozzle who blamed legalizing same-sex marriage for business challenges.
  12. @Lantern7 if you are truly serious about meeting someone I suggest checking out eHarmony, speed dating or a match-making service. There are fake profiles on eHarmony too but OKC is ripe with bots and fake profiles.
  13. Sounds entertaining. Play along and report back :-D
  14. The like was for the interview, not drunk Google. Don't forget to send your thank you email and thank you snail-mail! It will set you apart from nearly everyone else!
  15. When moving there are always books and/or photos left haphazardly on the floor and empty hangers in the closet even if the person moving isn't in a rush!to!leave!
  16. All the fun size bars have significantly shrank over the years.
  17. @bilgistic be very, very careful as to what you say to HR. Even if they say they will not fight your unemployment claim they may turn around and use what you said against you. I'd strongly suggest not saying things like "I realize I'm difficult to work with" or "I'm not a team player" or basically any of the bolded during the meeting.
  18. If it was the dog of Chucky, it would have survived.
  19. @Hero, if you can afford to quit, write up your two weeks and leave. Or don't bother with notice. You haven't been there long enough to put it on any sort of resume for a reference.. Years ago I thought I landed a dream job - helpdesk at a major technology company. The recruiter laid out a career path, the job duties, everything. It was perfect. I got there, it was nothing like what they said. It was a straight up inbound call center, entry level work, not allowed to resolve issues outside their predetermined solution, must escalate, call quotas, etc... Nothing I did was right, I was getting in trouble for fixing things that were beyond my 'level' and fixing things outside of their steps. I was written up for not completing things I had no idea existed, I wasn't paid correctly, blatant favoritism. I went home every day crying, depressed, nearly suicidal and couldn't afford to quit. I was fired on my 93rd day, they told me I made others uncomfortable, if by uncomfortable they meant I was making everyone look bad. I ripped into HR, they could hear me in the call center. I walked out to applause (I don't recommend doing this). Don't let it get that bad. Just leave and fuck your "family" who will think you're a "quitter".
  20. I'm quoting myself here to say that this thing is still a huge hit. It eats batteries like crazy though so if you do decide to purchase, be sure to get rechargable AA batteries.
  21. I give my cats Revolution monthly too. That reminds me, I need to get some ordered ASAP. I also need to find a vet ASAP. If anyone is in the Smyrna / Vinings area of GA and can recommend one I'd really appreciate it.
  22. I hate, hate, HATE that they are adding lavender / Febreze to everything. Gives me an instant headache. I'd take the box back to the store, that scent isn't going to go away and it's going linger on everything they touch. Lavender and vanilla are not comfort scents. They are gross, chemical, headache inducing scents.
