Ratings, Scheduling, and Watching for Cancellation/Renewal
icewolf replied to Miss Dee's topic in Sleepy Hollow [V]
Fox's Second Chance Moving to Fridays, to Be Paired With Sleepy Hollow http://tvline.com/2016/01/22/second-chance-moved-to-friday/ -
Sleep Hollow's ad sales have fallen in half this season, but FOX is still pushing forward with the show at its new time slot on Fridays. Don't assume a network will drop a show they are making so quickly for a new unproven show that will more than likely tank in the ratings.

Well, It Says Right Here...: All That's Wrong With Grimm
icewolf replied to Actionmage's topic in Grimm [V]
At this point, I'm only watching for the monster of the week episodes and most of the likable actors. The show's big arc sucks right now, and has sucked since season 2. It just went to a new extreme in season 4b. Imagine if season 5 Nick went back in time and told the Pilot episode Nick about what had happened to him. Living with his mortal enemy, raising a kid now that he is the baby daddy, Juliette being turned into a monster weapon who wears terrible wigs. Past Nick would probably go insane. -
Good episode. So glad that Alexander survived that purge. New Juliette now named Eve was pretty lazy writing, but not surprising. Now I'm eagerly waiting for the 100th episode.
-
NBC just canceled Heroes Reborn which had a 1.0 rating last week. Though Heroes was on Thursdays, and not Fridays like Grimm. The latest episode of Grimm had a 0.9... So what is the ratings threshold for Grimm before cancellation becomes a real danger? 0.7? 0.6? The only reason it has survived so long is because it airs on Fridays where lower ratings are tolerated.
-
It is obvious that the writers are backpedaling hard on Juliette by making her some kind of new character. They probably never expected such massive backlash and hate towards Juliette and the actress after what they had her do, burning the trailer and setting up Nick's mom to be beheaded. These are absolutely unforgivable acts. People are still pissed at Adalind for all the crimes she had committed against the main cast over the years, even if the writers have tried badly to sweep all of that under a carpet. Yes, I hold the writers completely responsible for how awful season 4 was. BT was just doing a job, not a good job, but the showrunners absolutely should have known that BT wasn't capable of handling such dramatic material like the plot of a human slowly going insane turning into a Hexenbiest.
-
Anyone else think that was a super fast grown up SEXY TEEN Diana and her telekinesis till they showed Juliette's face? I'm not sure if that would have been a shark jumping moment.
-
HAHAHAHA! That cheap blonde wig was TERRIBLE on Juliette! I guess the writers think the Juliette reveal was shocking? I think many of us suspected she was coming back. Probably with new personality change, now with a more friendly plays with kittens version since she saved Nick and everyone. NOT amnesia, please! I'm kind of hoping she is playing a completely new character that just looks like Juliette, so the actress can have some new material to work with. The rest of the episode before the reveal was good, and I hope that was the end of the uprising arc. That Trubel telling Adalind how weird her relationship with NIck was was great, finally someone points out how weird it is.

It was posted on the internet. I'm sure dozens of people have taken screenshots of it already. One thing you never do is post something stupid or embarrassing online since the internet is forever. I mean, King Arthur got even less closure but you don't see the actor doing anything like this. It wasn't wise for Amy Manson to retweet those negative posts, but I doubt it will matter much since I doubt we will ever see Merida again. The Frozen characters were at least lucky to get a quick sendoff, but I'm not expecting to see them ever again either. A&E have already move on to their next shiny new toys.

I'm still stunned that the writers did the impossible and alienated BOTH Juliette fans and Juliette haters. Juliette haters left in season 4 when they realized she was getting another massive arc all about her. Because the boring amnesia arc was so great? (sarcasm) Juliette fans left after she was character assassinated and killed off in the last season finale. Now the writers are just rubbing salt into their wounds by paring up Nick and Adalind, and giving them their own adorable baby. (Eww) Adalind haters? Well the writers hate you and will forever be shoving her down your throats whether you like it or not. (Haha) -
The pairing of the A plot and B plot sucked this week. The parts felt like they were from two completely different episodes. First half was so cheesy (pun intended) with a giant Ratzilla and Monroe acting more goofy than usual, while on the other half of the episode had a super tense story with Trubel gravely injured in a hospital bed ready to be murdered at any moment. Talk about mood whiplash.
-
Ratzilla was pretty silly. Remember in the first season second episode, with the bear Wesen family when the mom randomly turned into a bear and rushed to attack Nick? The writers probably realized it was silly as hell and never bothered to do it again... until tonight. That was stupid then and the giant rat in tonight's episode was stupid in this. Wesens turning into animals is just too goofy. I don't know what to say about the Meisner and Trubel stuff, which is obviously leading into next week. I'll depend on how good the next episode is, and whether we will finally get any answers. So far it feels like absolute NOTHING has happened this season, outside of that terrible Nick and Adalind playing house plot.
-
Why are we talking about Trubel? I don't think she was ever that important for the ratings. While she technically had an 11 episode arc between season 3 and the start of season 4, the writers completely botched it by giving her absolutely nothing to do in season 4 while they focused on boring powerless Nick and drama with Juliette. I vastly prefer season 3 Trubel.

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2015/12/01/the-cw-renewcancel-standings-week-10-lets-talk-about-supernatural/ Tvbythenumbers says another season for Superantural is a sure thing as long as J and J sign up for it.

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2015/12/01/nbc-renewcancel-standings-week-10-grimm-need-not-be-scared-yet/ Tvbythenumbers says Grimm is safe from cancellation at this moment, and another season is likely. The show has BOTH (F) and (O) going for it. Basically Friday nights suck, and the ratings are good enough. The page is worth a read.

I thought it was impressive how Grimm faced those shows in its first season and came out just fine. I don't think NBC or cast and crew even expected Grimm to be successful in the first place. Usually when new shows are start out on Fridays they quickly die and are never heard from again. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FridayNightDeathSlot Getting renewed must have been a pleasant surprise for the cast and crew. Season 1 of Grimm certainly deserved to be renewed based on its quality and ratings. In recent years, the Friday Night Death Slot has killed off NBC shows Hannibal, Crossbones, Dracula, and Constantine. So Grimm has been very lucky in that regard. Those two comedies airing before Grimm right now at 8PM are getting abysmal ratings, so expect them to be gone by January.

Adalind Schade: If We Didn't Know Any Better.....She'd Still Be the Worst
icewolf replied to Actionmage's topic in Grimm [V]
The great thing about season 3 (and second half of season 2) is that I can fast forward ALL of Alalind's scenes in Europe before she goes back to Portland without missing a beat since NONE of the other Grimm main cast are involved in them, which shows how much her plot is slapped together after adding the actress to the cast. The writers obviously never really had any real plans for her, so we got that first pregnancy mess. I do like season 3 for the Monore/Rosaless marriage arc, the last time those two had any real focus on them before being pushed aside for that crappy HexenJuliette arc in S4. -
Adalind Schade: If We Didn't Know Any Better.....She'd Still Be the Worst
icewolf replied to Actionmage's topic in Grimm [V]
This whole Adalind raising Nick's baby reminds me of real life teen girls that purposely get pregnant to keep their boyfriends as financial support. It's way too creepy for me to get behind. Adalind reminds me of Sylar from Heroes. Both Grimm and Heroes have a villain from the first season that was only used correctly in the first season, but the writers loved them so much that both character were brought back for stupid idiotic plots that made no sense, while other more interesting characters were killed off or marginalized. Just imagine how much more screentime we would have for Monore, Rosalee, Hank and Wu if only Adalind didn't take away much massive amounts of screentime away from them with her pointless sopa opera tier baby plots evert season. Plots that have gone nowhere. It is obvious the writers have no idea what to do with Diana, since they have put her on a bus (and helicopter) to leave Portland twice now. It's so ridiculous that Adalind outlasted Eric, Viktor, and Kenneth when those three were suppose to Big Bads. Heroes also tried making Sylar good even though it make zero sense just to keep the character around, and Heroes was promptly canceled at the end of its fourth season. At that point, it had become mercy killing by NBC. The writers' weird obsession to keep Adalind on the show at any cost is awful, culminating in this season's terrible Adalind living with Nick disaster of a plot. That's why season one and two of Grimm are my favorites since they are actually about Nick, not Adalind adventures in motherhood and losing her power then regaining her powers on repeat with guest star Nick Burkhardt. -
It'll hurt. Being the only fantasy show on Fridays on the major networks has certainly helped Grimm last so long, but the show is going to have some actual competition with the Vampire Diaries in January.

Holy shit! Grimm, Sleepy Hollow, Vampire Diaries, and Originals ALL on the same night!

Somewhat Sleepy Hollow related. The Vampire Diaries and The Originals being moved to Friday nights on The CW in February. With Sleepy Hollow moving there too, looks like Fridays is becoming the night of Sci-Fi/Fantasy again like we had during Grimm's first season when it faced Fringe and Supernatural. http://tvline.com/2015/11/23/vampire-diaries-originals-fridays-cw-schedule-2016/ -

I fast forwarded ALL of Adalind's scenes tonight! Adalind free and loving it! I think I caught a glimpse of shirtless Nick looking at a bra hanging in the bathroom? WTF? As the Grimm World Turns soap opera. The Wesen of the Week was alright. I thought the twist was going to be that the one killing those three guys was actually the boss' son that got murdered that was still somehow alive. Didn't expect the daughter to be the killer, or that the third suitor was actually gay and only there because of his parents. So what happened with the daughter, they don't have anything on her to press charges do they? Trubel conveniently arriving at the scene the end was awfully suspicious. I hope the writers aren't going to turn her evil after they JUST killed off Nick's mom. The writers are so terrible at writing women on this show, Adalind and Juliette being the shining examples. Many of the females on the show are evil or morons, or in Adalind's case... both.

Adalind Schade: If We Didn't Know Any Better.....She'd Still Be the Worst
icewolf replied to Actionmage's topic in Grimm [V]
I just can't anymore. I hate Adalind with the heat from a billion suns. From season 2 to now the show has been plagued with this character that does nothing but waste all of our times with her useless plots. The only way I can deal with her scenes now is if I fast forward any scene where she isn't with a main character. This character is one of the biggest examples of a creator's pet. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CreatorsPet The only time Adalind was used correctly was season one, which she was a hired guy by Renard. I still don't know why the writers thought it was necessary to bring her back. Season two was somewhat fine since she appeared about as much as the first season. Season three was when her stupid subplots began to take over culminating in this season's shark jumping Adalind living with Nick plot. After tormenting our heroes for years, she gets rewarded with a free pass, baby, bodyguard, financial support from her victim, gets to sleep on a big bed next to that same victim, and even a maybe invite back to her former job? The only thing is she entitled to is child support, otherwise Nick shouldn't have anything to do with her. Also a lawyer she makes way more than him anyway. Nick got completely screwed now that he is shackled to this woman for the next 18 years. It's a shame Nick doesn't have a black female best friend screaming into his ear "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?". -
Disappointing episode. Where the hell did those kids come from? How did they even find each other? You know your villains aren't great when you expect Nick to spank all of them with ease. They were really reaching with the Peter Pan references. I'm not going to even get into the Nick and Adalind too much. Switch the sexes of both characters and you know the writers would never even think about doing this storyline. The victim of rape playing house with their attacker, paying the rapist to raise their baby, and sharing the same bed? So wrong.
