  1. Oh, I just watched the medal ceremony, because hey, YouTubeTV. And I want a super cut of the Trusova meltdown. I want all the footage of that from every nation, in every language. It was like three different medal ceremonies. Kaori's pure joy. Sasha's barely contained rage. Anna wanting to celebrate but afraid Sasha would pull out a shiv and slice her. Kaori keeps leaning into Anna like, "should we stand closer? I kind of want to hug you. OMG, Anna, are you okay? Let's at least get within 8" of each other for the photographers. I'm so happy. Aren't you happy, Anna? Let's be happy together."
  2. Oh bless the sweet baby Jon Snow, the twitter photos are cracking me up. So unflattering. Trusova. Valieva.
  3. I'm at work and reading this thread like I would feel sorry for these girls, as they are teenagers, likely have almost no education and because all they do is train, are possibly emotionally stunted, but...FUCK IT. I'm sick of the Russians. I'm sick of Eteri. I'm going to ENJOY this shitshow when I get a chance to watch it. Next week, I'll see if there's some organization I can donate to that will help these girls escape.
  4. Medical experts who haven't seen the photos, the autopsy, or any of the evidence. It's just disgusting that people can't leave this alone. No one else was there. There was no foul play, but people won't be satisfied until the evidence, to which they have no right, is released, and it shows he was engaging in unconventional masturbation. It's ghoulish and gross and if I had to grieve my love one and be subjected to these disgusting stories, I'd be heartbroken.
  5. He's been doing his unshowered, breakup beard look for about a year now.
  6. I fully support the Saget family in shutting down the release of information regarding the details of his death and the investigation. The police are satisfied it was an accident. The family is satisfied it was an accident. The coroner is saying it was an accident. The public doesn't need to see a smear of blood on the rim of the bathtub because they are curious. No one with any personal interest is questioning the findings of the coroner or the investigation of his death. Let the man's family retain some semblance of privacy and dignity.
  7. I love the first two films, and have watched the third ...more than once to try to see if there was something good in there. There really wasn't. I especially love the combined cut of the first two films.

Countdown to Novak announcing his NoVaxx Open, "The Fifth Grand Slam", tennis tournament in Serbia, where players are encouraged to cough on each other, social distancing is forbidden and masks are banned, to be scheduled the exact same two weeks as the French Open.
  9. It's not going to change his status with patronages and duties because he was already stripped of those and almost all of his royal duties were dropped as well. What a disingenuous statement. "He has no patronages and only one remaining duty, but, clutch your pearls, ANDREW'S PATRONAGES AND DUTIES WILL NOT CHANGE because of the settlement." Ugh. Look, I'm all for Andrew drowning in a gutter water mix of creamed corn vomit and three day old horse piss, but People magazine is a pile crap. I also think he should be removed as someone eligible to be appointed a Counselor of State*, his one remaining royal duty. *Just a heads up on that, there are 4 counselors of state currently: Chaz, Willz, Haz and the Big Gross Pedophile. If Betty wants she can delegate duties to them should she become ill or absent from the UK. The counselors are then supposed to act together, and if they can't, it takes at least two in agreement to do something. And their powers are super limited. If Betty becomes incapacitated, there is a whole procedure for declaring her incapacitated which requires at least three of a big long list of officials to agree she's zoinked, then Chaz becomes Regent, or if no Chaz, then Willz, if no Willz, then Haz, if no Haz, then the Big Gross Pedophile. So being stressed about the Big Gross Pedophile becoming Regent or acting as Counselor of State is like being stressed about the Secretary of State becoming President. Andrew absolutely needs removed, and Bea will take his place, but I don't think it's anything to wig out about just yet. WOOOPS Edit because I'm the wrong forum for the rest of this.
  10. I'm unsurprised that Michael/Kay and Michael/Apollonia shipping and shipwars exist, because that would be filling a gap in the books. Not that I think the books needed to explore those relationships further, but I can see why people have "filled that in" with headcanons and shipping. Kay is a realized, if somewhat incomplete, character, while Apollonia is an empty shell. Both are vehicles for Michael's story. But as a woman, I get that people would want to fill in more about Kay and more about Apollonia, a desire to flesh out both to reach a deeper understanding of Michael. The Godfather is the story of men and their interactions with other men. Men and how they define, create, interact with and defend family. The Godfather is not a story of women or about women. It is not a story of any man's romantic love for women. All of the women are secondary and plot movers. Carmela (yeah, she had a name) Corleone, we know almost nothing about her from the film or the books. She prays for Vito. She chastises Connie. She tries to help Kay understand. But those bits are a few pages here and there, a passing line in the film. Connie, and her relationship with Carlo, moves the plot, from the physical abuse to becoming Michael's support for the children, to her addiction issues and coming back to again support Michael. Her indoctrination into the Corleone way of thinking is smaller, and not the story of the film. Kay initially represents a means of escape for Michael, then becomes somewhat assimilated but still an outsider, until she can't take it any more and does that which he can never forgive, finding her escape. Apollonia, total blank slate. The other women in the film just walk in and out of scenes. Sonny's wife's big scene is the joke about the size of his penis. Tom's wife gets a mention of him cheating on her, but I don't think she's every on screen speaking, Sonny's affair partners, Fredo's prostitutes, that's pretty much it. We can look at all of those female characters and total up their screen time and it probably matches the amount of time we see Clemenza. Tessio is a better developed character than Apollonia and Carmela. Anyway, my point is, shipwars between Michael/Kay shippers and Michael/Apollonia shippers are people filling in a gap. Which woman is Michael's true love isn't a question answered or even asked in either the book or the film.
  11. I am a multi sport fan, but have to chime in on this off season bullshite. When I go to a sports bar for lunch, I want to see...SPORTS. That means people actually participating in the sport, be it live or replay. Tennis, skiing, snowboarding, curling, figure skating, even fucking cornhole is a sport. Fifty TVs showing dudes in suits DISCUSSING sports is not sports. I have no interest in listening to these people predict the season/match/game/championship.
  12. It's been years since I read it, but I don't recall Kay being his OTP, or there even being the concept of an OTP in the novel. The relationships were much more layered than that. Michael loved Kay, but it was an emotional lightning when he saw Apollonia, which his friends in Italy actually laugh about. Michael sees Apollonia and immediately falls in love. He then sets about wooing her in the traditional way, first through speaking with her father. Because of her early, and violent, death, I'm sure Michael idealizes her. She has become his perfect woman, with Kay as...Kay, the woman he knows who he used to be, loves him and bears his children. When Kay confesses the abortion, which is one of the most powerful "relationship" scenes in the movie, Michael immediately demonizes her.

I'm sure it's info he got off Facebook.
  14. I lived through Mark Malone and Bubby Brister. I'm in it for the long haul.
  15. I was of the impression that the murder of his first wife really changed him. He was away from his family, away from the business, putting what he'd done behind him, building a new life. And then they murdered her. When he returns to New York he is colder, unwilling to attach to Kay in the same way, but he wants her back in his life, and he wants children. He never lets her be his partner or his confidant. He doesn't want to get too close because he could lose her too. He then goes on a complete rampage to eliminate every possible threat. And in doing so, loses his own humanity.
  16. I also enjoyed this one. I liked that the people were actually competent at what they were doing. No stumbling around pretending to be a painter/musician/accountant then looking like an idiot trying to fake it. So much better than pratfalls of incompetence.
  17. I'm fine with a few more years of heartbreak for the Bengals. *slow Steelers smile* Mike Brown does not deserve good things.
  18. ...you can skim over the war parts. It is a book written from the Southern POV for the Civil War, and you can Wikipedia the battles, and just get to the characters' in the aftermath. Maybe I'm old, but I no longer feel obligated to read every word of a novel.
  19. There is a good chance Kamila is receiving no education, no schooling at all. Training for ten to twelve hours a day does not leave her a lot of time to hit the books. She's likely not educated for her age level. That's tragic. At the same time, if we are going to make athletes sign these affidavits and send them this documentation, we have to hold them accountable.
  20. If I weren’t a Steeler fan living near Cincinnati, it would be…
  21. My list of most hated teams goes: 1. Bengals 2. Cowboys 3. Raiders. However, I sympathize with your pain. It’ll be a new season soon.
  22. What is Wade Robson doing? He could really help with upper body movements for these dancers. Someone should hire him to co-choreograph. See Hummingbird, So You Think You Can Dance.
  23. This choreography for LaJoie and Lagha needs to lean more into being birds, just go full weird instead of 1/3 weird.
  24. Well, that was both overwrought and dull. Diana Davis is not a dynamic skater.
  25. I thought I got the recommendation of Mango, Mambo and Murder from here, but I can't find the post. If it was here, thank you. This was a delightful book, which hopefully will continue soon. The culture, the food, the appropriate use of Spanish. I definitely want more of the family relationships developed. The mystery was solid. The involvement of the protagonist was organic and not forced, as was her interaction with the police detective. This was the kind of cozy I love.
