I thought Steve was supposed to have been more a "cat" person too. At least that's what they seemed to establish in Ep 517, which DDK directed, where McDanno was undercover & sharing an apartment while watching a suspect, & there was a cat who apparently came with the apartment that Steve seemed to take way more of a liking to than Danny. I've forgotten the cat's name though; I think it was Mrs. Something. And I thought Danny was established as a "dog" person way back in S2, when he adopted the dog (another golden retriever or yellow lab, as I remember) that belonged to the victim of the week, an ICE agent who died in a plane crash which the perp(s) caused because they thought she was getting too close to their "operation" which had to do with something like killing wild animals (bears, etc.) for certain parts of their body which could be used to manufacture health supplements... or something close to that idea. Anyway, Danny "appropriated" the ICE agent's dog (he supposedly had a dog when he moved to Hawaii, but Rachel got custody of it--along with practically every other thing/person important to Danny--& the dog died while it was in quarantine waiting for approval to enter Hawaii) & the dog was supposedly given to Grace, but we haven't heard of it in a pretty long time. Peter Lenkov has said in his social media that the idea for the dog storyline actually came from Alex O'Loughlin, who has a dog--I think some kind of pit bull--named Dusty, which he had even before he moved to Hawaii.

Supporting Characters - Gone But Not Necessarily Forgotten
BW Manilowe replied to Zola's topic in The West Wing
Mark Harmon's ill-fated character was Secret Service Special Agent Simon Donovan, also known as "Special Agent Sunshine". I follow the actors who played Ed & Larry, among other former TWW cast members, on Twitter. Larry was played by William Duffy; he was the thinner, I think taller, more Caucasian-looking of the 2. Ed was played by Peter James Smith; he was somewhat chubbier than Larry & I think shorter, he had darker hair (looks darker to me, anyway), & looks like he might be part-Asian (I think Peter James Smith has mentioned being Asian/part-Asian in real life on Twitter). -

Toxicology is definitely at least 1 of the things they're waiting on. I did hear them say that. -

Yes. Tom had an autopsy, but the coroner's office is continuing the investigation into his death. -

The West Wing Weekly & Other The West Wing Podcasts
BW Manilowe replied to BW Manilowe's topic in The West Wing
This is the current ep of the podcast & I've read social media comments that it's well worth a listen, & many people wished it could've been longer (it was about an hour long). By the way Martin's wife, Janet, made the shirt Joshua's wearing. The word you can't see is "country"... spelled without the O. -
Just a reminder that the 2-CD original soundtrack recording of the music from The West Wing will be released tomorrow, Friday October 6th, through the Varèse Sarabande website ONLY.

You're welcome. Bill said, in the ep where he commissioned Chloe to do Jen's anniversary/vow renewal dress, that Chloe had done some other things for Jen already, before that, so she had Jen's measurements (which would make it easier for the dress to be a surprise). All Bill had to do was pick a color & style for the dress he thought Jen would like & would be appropriate for the event.
-
Chloe Dao's been designing things for Jen for awhile now. She has a boutique/storefront in Houston. A few seasons ago, Bill surprised Jen by having Chloe secretly design a dress for Jen to wear when they renewed their wedding vows as part of this kinda big anniversary party they had at a hotel in Galveston; Chloe was in that episode & then at the Galveston hotel on the day of the party, to make sure Jen's custom dress fit before the vow renewal ceremony. But Chloe had been designing for Jen even before that.

From ETOnline, the website for Entertainment Tonight, & other sources: Tom Petty's Death Being Investigated by the LA Coroner's Office, Despite Autopsy Being Performed What I'm unclear on is if this is standard procedure, being done because Tom was a celebrity, or if something started not to feel right, in retrospect. -
There was a scene at the beginning, like with the post-main titles credits running over it, where Steve & Danny are talking about the restaurant, in the space intended to be the restaurant, & Steve starts talking about opening it before they retire. He says they can hire someone to run it for them until they're ready to run it by themselves.

FYI... CBS has switched around the H50 ep that's scheduled to air this week. Instead of Ep 802 they're airing Ep 803, which was supposed to air next Friday (& Ep 802 will now air next Friday). The ep that was filmed as Ep 803 & will now air as Ep 802 is the ep where we meet the next new team member, former Navy SEAL Junior Reigns (played by Beulah Koale). So his onscreen introduction has been moved up a week (& airing the original Ep 802 a week late will now be a bit confusing because Beulah won't be in either the ep or the main credits in week 3 though he was in week 2). It at least sort of makes sense to have Beulah's character introduced a week after we met Tani, the other new team member, & not have the week gap in their introductions as originally planned; but it's gonna be a little weird that he's in the show's "universe" for a week, then it's like he doesn't exist the next week, then he's back the week after & presumably in all the remaining eps this season.

Thank you for finding that error; I fixed it. I don't know where I got "Pam" from; the actress's name is & always has been Paige. And she's been the only person to play Samantha Grover, which she's done, like, 7 or 8 times since 2014 (according to IMDb). But, as I also said, until this season premiere the last time she played Samantha was in S6 E19 when the Grover family thought they had to go on the run from a mobster Grover testified against, &/or arrested, & it turned out the person causing the problem was Grover's ex-partner, Clay, who should've been in prison for killing his wife, but he was only in for stealing money from a drug bust because that was the only thing Grover could actually prove he did (Clay still had the money, or what was left of it, hidden in a wheel well, or something similar, of an old "beater" car he kept in his garage). The length of time between when S6 E19 was filmed & when S8 E1 was filmed may account for any noticeable difference in how she looked in the episodes (as could the facts that Samantha was still in High School in S6 while she had been accepted by Northwestern University, & is apparently about to start college either there, in the Grovers' old stomping ground of Chicago--which actually no longer feels like home for Lou Grover & has become a "hostile" environment to him--or at another college closer to Honolulu that Samantha &/or her family may choose instead because not only is Samantha possibly not wanted in Chicago because her dad was disloyal to his Chicago PD partner, Samantha may still be having emotional issues related to her kidnaping by computer hacker Ian Wright about 4 seasons ago.
-
According to the press release for this ep Paige Hurd, the same actress who's had the role since Samantha Grover was first onscreen in 2014, played Samantha as usual. But her billing was changed from "Recurring Cast" to "Guest Cast". Maybe she looked different because I think it's been awhile since we saw her last. Her IMDb says the last H50 episode she was in, before this, was S6 E19; that's the 1 where Grover & his family went on the lam because they were falsely led to believe a mobster Grover had arrested &/or testified against while he was still in Chicago was out to get them (& it was really his ex-partner, Clay, who was suspected of killing his wife on an Hawaiian anniversary trip--which Grover couldn't prove--who set the family up because Grover could prove he was a dirty cop & stole some money from a drug bust years ago, which is what put Clay in prison).

From the Honolulu Star-Advertiser: Garcia Uses Five-0 Breaks to Create Haunted Attraction in Kailua In real life, as on the show, Jorge Garcia is a big fan of Halloween. This year, he's joined with a local special effects company in Honolulu to create a haunted attraction that's located in the Kailua area of Honolulu/Oʻahu & is open to the public through Halloween, including special nights for "keiki" (children) where the attraction's special scary effects are toned down so as not to overly scare the kids. Here's an interview he did about it from the Honolulu newspaper.

Well, Cath & Steve had a lot of chemistry... until she found it necessary to become, basically, Doris (his mother) Version 2.0 & start lying to him & hiding stuff from him, etc. That made a lot of people not like her so much. I think Alex O'Loughlin's said in at least 1 interview that he doesn't see Steve & Cath getting back together because she's hurt him too much at this point.

The thing is, Slurpees/Icees/Slushes/Whatever they call them come in way more flavors besides fruit punch variations these days; they come in pretty much every flavor you can imagine, including sodas like Coke. But yeah, back in the day, about the only flavor you could get was some variation on fruit punch... which I didn't like either. @auntlada: I suppose you may be aware of this but, if you aren't, you can buy Coke flavored Icees at Burger King. They've been available there for a long time; they also have the original/traditional fruit punch type flavor.
