  1. Yes, this is starting to feel like Ron making a simple solution complicated. As I yelled at my tv, "Just show him your phone" and then to Shawn, "ask him to show you the phone," after there were enough references to the call, I realized I was having a moment of déjà vu much like back when I found my self saying almost daily, "Just have Tripp take a DNA test." Well we all know how long and convoluted that answer drug out. But with real world logistics, I would think that Shawn could use Ben's phone records to get some info on the incoming call and specifically the number even if it showed as "unknown" on Ben's phone. Worst case, it's a burner phone so the number won't make the connection to Rhodes, but cell tower hits should still give a general vicinity where it was used. But then I guess Ron isn't in a rush to wrap this one up since they'd he have to come up with an explanation for why Hope doesn't come home. It reminded me of Jake's place above the garage before Ben moved in with wedding pictures and fortune cookies to freshen it up. 😁
  2. Wow 55 years later and Julie is still screeching. Talk about lack of character growth. Too bad though they don't still use the show's theme music in the episodes.
  3. When Gabi waltzed up to Gwen's table I was wondering the same thing--is she gonna double-cross Abi? Gabi as a double agent could be a very entertaining storyline. And I'm right there w/ya on Ciara. The writers might think that when they have her get sassy and bitchy to her captors it makes her a 'strong heroine' but in reality it just comes off as entitled, smug, and dense. Like it's really not smart to antagonize the person who just blew your kidnapper-host's heart out. Ditto that when said shooter's dad is an evil mastermind generally two steps ahead of your family.
  4. Claire sounded like a fourteen-year-old shipping a fictional couple when she was telling Belle about Cin. And she’s so wrapped up in it that she’s oblivious to the situation she’s in with Charlie. Charlie and Gwen are gold together. Gawd, Abby can’t even give a proper apology or show true remorse, but kudos to Gabby for not making it easy. That moment when Ciara finally realizes that she’s no longer being held by a kidnapper-host for hire who brings her food and books, keeps her clothed and sleeping in a plush bed with attached bath, and is now being held by someone who does have a personal grudge against her. Took her a little too long, but brains aren’t her strong point, which is probably why that lasted only a moment till she returned to her smug self. Shawn is right that visions aren’t evidence, but for god sake Ben you have physical evidence on your phone. Show him so he can track the damn number! It’s not even that I want to see her rescued, because I really don’t, but my patience with stupidity is wearing thin.
  5. This is true. And Ben would whip out the old necktie long before he pulled a gun. A well-cast Johnny making mince meat of Chad and trading barbs with Jake would be hilarious. Initially upon Rafe's return that's what was said and then a few episodes later there was a throw-away line where Rafe said he did go find her and talk to her. She said she wasn't ready to return or for a relationship after everything that happened. Rafe was bummed but understood. Shawn didn't have his morning cup of Horton kool-aid and he ran a background/incident report on Abs.
  6. I bet Susan has the Steffy dressed as Elvis doll to cuddle with in Marlena's guest room at night. 😁
  7. Agree! Commenting/criticizing things a person can’t change such as height and ethnical & racial characteristics is not okay, and a type of discrimination/bias. As opposed to someone simply not liking a new haircut or an outfit worn (provided there’s no cultural significance that disliking would insinuate.) The arts are always subjective—film, music, books, TV. Those with longevity in the business know when to not get hung up on opinions. I used to work in publishing and know that authors were often advised to not get too hung up on reviews—to decipher what’s constructive criticism that can be useful feedback for improvement and what to just let roll off their backs. I’d imagine agents and managers advise their clients that type of thing too, especially in the social media age. I didn’t see LG’s Twitter page so I can’t comment specifically whether followers crossed a line, but those sites have content policies that can be invoked if something beyond the pale is written. Or I suppose she could block them. What I’ve seen on this board has basically been style choices viewers liked (for example MBE’s red Valentine dress, which I agree was really pretty and looked nice on her) and things they didn’t. It’s usually a mixed bag and simply opinions, not hate speech or harassment. Commenting on fashion/style is part of the viewer experience, and while Days does seem to have budget constraints that may affect hair, make-up, and wardrobe these days, at one time those things were planned (maybe still are to some degree) to fit the character or simply as a way to get the viewers talking/create a buzz/garner publicity. Or to get the stars on the cover of soap magazines—hello wedding veil headpieces of the 80s! Back to today's plot.... Good question--is it simply Gabi they don't want to deal with and let that cloud their business judgement? It does rather seem that Chad won't fund it to be spiteful, and Jake is making businesses decisions with his dick. Philip was probably initially going to reject it simply because Zander said yet to it. Now he'll probably accept it for some kind of personal agenda, since in the time that Kate left his office and he texted Gabi back, he'd yet to look at the proposals/run financials. Too bad Ciara's behind glass or maybe she could weigh in. I don't believe Gabi has ever gone after Ben so maybe she could be impartial and not make it personal.
  8. So Statesville has a sign by the phone limiting the length of the call, but not the number of calls you can make. Is that the loophole Kristin is using to abuse the privilege? Was almost surprised she wasn't on the phone when Clyde and Orpheus were standing there. Never the less, I do enjoy the men at the prison. Orpheus always provides intrigue (did Vincent really kill himself or did Orpheus do it for him?)and Clyde's and Ben's conversation about Ben visiting a psychic was humorous. Speaking of Ben, maybe his brother-in-law the cop would take him more seriously if he pulled out his phone and showed him the number that called him so they could trace it. Though at least Shawn did run a check on Rhodes. This silliness though of Hope on a hunt, who never even takes a break for holidays/weddings/funerals, has grown stale and illogical long ago. When Ciara is found somewhere around Salem, what are they going to say to explain Hope's absence then? I think a far better 'write-out' would have been to have Hope's letter say she got a urgent call from Shane asking for her help on an ISA assignment and because she needed to get her mind off Ciara's death/deal w/her grief she took it. Then when Ciara is found, they could explain that Ciara met up with her mom off-screen to reunite but that Hope was still working the case and not coming back to town. So long Rhodes. Another abruptly ending plot point. I'm 100% down w/Gwen's existence if princess Abigail has to deal with an older sister who doesn't drink the Horton kool-aid like today. Bonus points for Shawn lumping them together and not kissing his cuz's ass. It sorta comes with the territory when you are on TV. Call it a occupational hazard of the acting industry. I wouldn't recommend anyone getting in her face nasty about it, but comments on changes in appearance are to be expected. An actor/actress's "style" is at times part of their appeal/brand and a huge part of being in Hollywood. So considering that in the last year LG has wacked off her full, wavy lengths for two different shorter cuts, yeah it's going to get talked about. Personally, I think the longer big curls she used to have was more flattering on her, but then I'm not a fan of short do's the majority of the time. Her "voice" though is more of an acting choice/approach, perhaps take on the character, though also fair game as it's simply a critique of her job/portrayal of the role. All a part of being 'in the business.' I think he styled his hair differently. I did notice a change too. Maybe looked a tad thinner as well.
  9. Participated in the kidnapping for the money but won't kill her or hurt her as opposed to Vincent's mind control torture of Ben who he programmed to strangle Ciara. So yeah, in the Salem world Rhodes is still a gray character who could eventually go either way if he lived that long. He's a hired thug basically. Steve largely started out that way in the beginning 35+ years ago.
  10. Why do they bring on these new people who might have potential, key word being might as the verdict was still out on Rhodes for me, if they aren't going to do anything with them??? I assumed (wrongly apparently) when they replaced creepy deranged Vincent with a more gray-character Rhodes that they intended for it to go somewhere. This is part of the reason why the young couples in town have to carefully side-step incest with every date they make because there is not enough 'new blood' in Salem. Who will Abifail cheat on Chad with now? 😉😀
  11. Vivian's arrival at Statesville felt more like the first day at a new elementary school than jail. Like in a rush to get to their new jobs, Viv's parents just dropped her off and while the office staff and teacher were scrambling to get her a desk and onto the attendance roll they quickly handed her a school uniform so she felt like she belonged and pushed her onto the playground to make friends with the school's resident mean girl/bully who actually stopped harassing the special ed. girl with big glasses and no orthodontist appointments in sight so that she could assess the new girl and mark her playground (otherwise known as the phone and internet room) territory. Sadly with better writers and Louise Sorrell in the role, this whole Statesville is the new hangout could have had a whole different (and highly promising) feel once Viv was given the chance to mingle with Dr. Rolf and Orpheus, trade barbs, and pull their dangerous and delightful resources together. Agree, Orpheus is generally smarter and two steps ahead of everyone in Salem so him using a situation to his benefit fits the character. I only wish their scenes hadn't been so short and choppy and that they wouldn't have missed the opportunity for Orpheus to point out (i.e. brag) about how he pulled off the whole fake her death/make her loved ones think she is dead and then mess with their heads about whether she's alive or not scheme over 30 years ago with Marlena to punish Roman for the death of his love. The parallel was striking. Bonus points if Orpheus would have ended the conversation by mentioning that now all he has to do is switch out the eggs in Marlena's frig to make Valentine's Day hell. I seem to recall in the mid 90s when Jennifer was with Peter and Laura and recast Jack came back to town that Jennifer and Peter were actually living in a different house, though not one that matched the set we saw in the flashback. I can picture it having the front door on the left as opposed to the right at the Hortons. Might have looked layout-wise like that house Hope and Bo used to live in. Anyone else recollect that set? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? 😁
  12. Or it will turn out to be a character not even introduced yet at the time of the murder.
  13. I was almost expecting Orpheus to be eating an ice-cream sundae while conversing with Rhodes. Statesville is just that ludicrous that while I'm sure Kristin was conning Susan, it wouldn't really surprise me in a prison where Kristin spends more time on the internet and phone, harassing the outside world, than in her cell; there's no guard monitoring them or their calls; and visitation is unregulated and limitless. On that note, did it never cross Hope, Ben, or Shawn's mind to keep tabs on Vincent's visitor list???
  14. Just when you think Ben can't get any dumber, the first person he goes to for help in locating his missing wife is the pseudo-psychic woman with big teeth and the IQ of a four year old instead of anyone who could trace a phone call. 🙄 These two deserve to be separated.
  15. LOL A tiny living room that Orpheus easily and quietly broke into not so long ago and sat casually waiting for Rafe to get home. If Charlie can pick a lock half as good Ava is screwed. I'm right there w/ya. With her return, I realized just how much she annoys me. I think it's her obnoxious insistence that her and Ben's true love will save her. Also why didn't she just go to the bathroom to make the call. Leave the door just ajar enough to watch out for Rhodes's return but turn on the faucet/shower to cover her voice while she made multiple 'save me' calls. If Rhodes returned she could hide the phone in the waste can and claim he must have lost it somewhere else. "Don't ask me where it is, I was taking a shit." I suppose he could search her space, but hey if he wants to root through a bathroom trash with Kleenexes and possibly used tampons/pads, let him. I have to wonder if in the Salem universe there's a madman network hotline. If you can't finish the job you started you get another villain to do it for you, but you also gotta pay your dues or pay it forward. Like Orpheus blew up her house and kidnapped Marlena back in the 80s, but when Marlena reappeared in Salem in the 90s she was at the hands of Stefano. So now Orpheus is fulfilling his end of the contract by taking over the Ciara kidnapping from Vincent. Personally, this seems fair, and I have no complaints as Vincent never worked for me as a compelling villain unless maybe Days was set in a Twin Peaks universe. Orpheus, on the other hand, I adore and always welcome him back to my TV screen, lame plot reasoning or not, to relish in his snarky goodness.
  16. This! I was confused about that too. They talked as if Ava lives alone (and that she's not a mob princess w/access to bodyguards), but Tripp was living there and the one who reported her missing. He was only absent for the abduction because he was having dinner w/Steve, Kayla, and Joey. So then how do they plan on protecting Ava when Rafe's at work?
  17. Yes he was rather casual about that. His tone was something I'd expect if he was talking to Jake or Claire and couldn't hear them not his presumed-dead-slash-missing wife calling out of the blue. If only she'd have walked around different spots in her glass cage and said, "Can you hear me now?...How bout now?" Also, is Rhodes's Valentine date sitting at a bar or restaurant waiting for him while he drove out to Statesville to meet with Orpheus or was Orpheus his "date" all along? After how things went when Justin pulled that on Bonnie, if there's an actual girl waiting for Rhodes, I hope he called first. Showing up with a flimsy excuse like, "Sorry I'm late, but I had to go meet an evil mastermind on the spur of the moment after that girl I have locked up stole my phone and tried to make a call for help," probably won't get him past the appetizers. Definitely isn't getting him laid for Valentine's night.
  18. This week: http://www.dayscafe.com/spoilers-this-week.html Next week: http://www.dayscafe.com/weekly-spoilers.html I sure hope they explain where Evan has been all this time because unless I missed a scene he's been running around on the lamb from Bayview after John and Marlena turned their backs following the last fiasco with his dad.
  19. When Ben answered the phone, "Ciara?" it would have been a much better twist if the voice on the other end was a robo call that replied, "Are you paying too much for your car insurance? Press 1 now to lower your rates.."
  20. At this point, I honestly don't understand why the Salem universe doesn't just acknowledge Covid or create a similar problem as a storyline (i.e. Rolf unleashes a contagious plague via one of his experimental serums gone wrong). It would make their filming constraints easier and some of their flimsy explanations (John & Marlena got food poisoning) less eye-roll worthy. For instance, it would explain why out of town characters didn't return for funerals and weddings.
  21. Was irony the theme of today’s episode? Nicole’s line about being fed up with ‘boys will be boys’ excuse…AZ was the recipient of the infamous pussy grabbing incident. And then Ava’s line about men assaulting women and bragging about it. Since I had to watch on YouTube, did I miss the part where this episode was dedicated to DJT as an FU? 🤣 Vivian’s line about the Salem police keeping children from their “MOTHER.” Is Ron finally acknowledging that Lanni’s defense has gone stale? Or was Jake’s line about taking a high school theatre class Ron himself who clearly couldn’t resist tossing two famous plays into the plot. Never the less, today was an improvement from yesterday’s episode. Oh and does Rhodes have metal coat hangers in Ciara’s bathroom to keep her clothes neat or is the wire to snake the toilet if/when it gets clogged? And why didn’t she just go to the bathroom to make the call? With the door closed and water running, I doubt he would have heard her if he returned. I wonder if Rhodes's "date" is anyone in Salem??? Sad, that I find that more riveting than whether Ciara's call goes through.
  22. I know it will never happen since JS is so over Days and apparently acting in general, but I enjoy Sami with EJ when they are partners in crime and lovers. Plus EJ is the one person who likes and supports Sami's bad side. So my "dream" storyline would have them do something fun and scheming together. Bonus points if it's against the people who treat Sami like crap. But since that will never happen, I'll settle for Sami coming back alone and rubbing Gwen into Abigail's face, pointing out that having a homewrecker is a bit of karma. I'd also like to see Sami and Kate on the same side/team up. That was the one good thing the writers did before AS's exit in '14, but failed epically on last summer when they should have both been against Nicole having Allie's baby. Instead now Kate is playing nice w/Nicole. AS and LK have good chemistry together, and if Sami and EJ can't team up to cause trouble, I'll take Sami and Kate, especially if it gets Kate out of this awful lust fest with Jake. I think Sami and Lucas are good as friends and co-schemers, but I don't want to see them together romantically.
  23. Over half of Salem thinks their shit doesn't stink while pointing out the odor every time Sami shows up to use the bathroom. That annoys the hell out of me. Especially the characters running around town with air freshener chasing after the likes of Abigail.
  24. Steve thinks the only hitch to his wedding is Kayla’s rapist not being there, but the show can go on without their own kids. WTF! Sarah needs to keep her hair away from the scissors. John and Marlena got food poisoning….I don’t know why I found that funny. Was it the dish that Claire and Ben brought over??? Lanni and Eli’s babies were born on Christmas. It’s now Valentine’s Day. Those nasty umbilical cord stumps fall off before a baby is 7 weeks old. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Ron either doesn’t have kids or never spent any time with them. Linda Dano as Vivian…biggest mistake ever. Congressional impeachment hearings are more riveting than this Cin Shakespeare farce. I can’t believe this is the best the show could come up with for Sweep’s month.
  25. Laura spent pretty much all of the 80's in a sanitarium, but got out early to mid 90's. Based on the retro flashback, Tiffany showed up soon after Laura returned to town after her stay at the Meadows where she met Jack and they had a fling--mid 90's I believe since that was during Jenn's relationship w/Peter Blake. So that timeline seems to work out; the one that probably doesn't is Laura's age. The show seems to SORAS the younger generation, but presumably de-aged the older. Laura was already out of med school and practicing psychiatry when she had Mike Horton in the late 60s, making her at least 25. Mike is a doctor in the mid 80's, making him at least 25 or older (SORAS obviously) and thus Laura at least 50 or older at that time. Fast forward 35 years later to 2021 and Laura should be at least 85 right now, possibly pushing 90.
