  1. Yes, having your face "beat" means your makeup is on point, lashes on, etc. It used to be most commonly used in the drag community. Because you literally (when applying drag make-up at least) beat the foundation/contour onto your face. It's definitely meant as a compliment when a drag queen says that your face is beat. I've heard drag queens say that most slang starts with gay men, then goes through the African American community, then goes through the Caucasian community. Anyways, I would not have partaken in Kim's brunch.(?) Although Porsha mentioned having to work at 5am, so was it really a brunch? I noticed it was still light outside, so I assume it wasn't a dinner unless they live reeeally far apart. Kim seemed like she had an agenda, and to me the point of the brunch was condescending. I would not have attended a party in which the host told me not to wear any makeup. Or not to do my hair, or not to do x,y, and z to my own body. Sorry, my body is my own to do with as I please. Go find some Barbie dolls if you want to host a party of women you can control. (Although come to think of it, Barbie does wear some makeup doesn't she?) I wont even get into the fact that they're women on camera, some whose image and livelihood depend on their looks, or things such as Body Dysmorphic Disorders. Kenya's skin is still getting talked about, even though she didn't even show it in this episode. That in a nutshell is why I wouldn't choose to go on camera without any makeup, especially if I had acting aspirations. The rest of the episode: No idea whats up with Todd? Ugh, are they gearing up for some kind of special or has he always sucked? I thought he seemed okay before, but I don't know if he was joking around, being a jerk, or what was going on with him this episode. (To be fair I was only half-listening.)
  2. Reading back through this thread, I got all the way back to the article about VVP "overcoming" two years of agoraphobia through prayer. http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20141278,00.html I have to wonder if any of the symptoms have come back after the recent death of his father. I don't think badly of Vince like most here do, but I got to this article and it really made me wonder how he's coping. ETA: Off-topic, but Erika definitely has extensions. Even if she didn't add any length (and I 100% think she did), she most certainly added extensions for volume. I would be surprised if Eileen has anything more than a good hairstylist.
  3. Wow I must be slow today. I read this as "Betty White" and was trying to remember for a full two minutes if I had ever since Betty White in a black hoodie, Tims, and a backpack. So on topic, really nothing to say about Cynthia, except that I felt bad for her when she was so excited to see NeNe, and NeNe acted like it was just...well a job. Really hoping for her sake that she and Peter are secretly already split.
  4. Wow. I'm shocked by the rampant sexism in Cochran's opening statements. Who is supposed to be "controlling" these two adult women? The connections between control, promiscuity, and abuse that were oh-so-subtly implied make my stomach turn. Such a subtle turn of phrase... yet powerful in what it meant to this case. It's ridiculous to me the impact that the victim's perceived character has in these types of cases. Whether Suzie Homemaker who spends her time building orphanages is murdered, or Addict Adulteress who spends her time having sex for money is murdered, there should be no difference in the conviction and sentencing of the defendant. Murder is murder. Domestic violence is domestic violence. (Unfortunately that will never be the case, the victim's past will always come into play.) Anyways, back to OJ, it truly was the trial of the century. I was in preschool towards the end of the trial, and I still remember hearing it/watching it, and my feelings after the verdict. It was huge. I was too young to know or understand many of the intricacies, such as the racial aspects or the mistrust of law enforcement, but it truly was a time of innocence lost for me personally, as well as on a much larger scale. I have absolutely nothing of value to add to this topic, so perhaps this post doesn't belong here. Yet I am drawn to it, as it shaped many of my earliest memories and personality traits.
  5. As the only two cast members that have done the "I'm smarter than you, better than you, prettier than you" blah blah, I think that Ariana and James should hook up! It would be a relationship full of smugness and ego. As a bonus it would free up Tom for his one true love. Re: Faith: For one, the girls don't like LaLa, whereas they like Faith. Also confrontations/conversations with Faith are rarely to never shown, unless she's propping up LaLa. Katie and LaLa are like oil and water. Any action is going to make Katie more angry because its LaLa doing it. Katie was Stassi's minion, and likes or is indifferent to Faith. Conveniently, I don't remember Stassi ever skinny-dipping without the girls (heh). Didn't they all go skinny-dipping without the boys in the dark? Or am I imagining that and forgetting various toplessness? "Free the nipple!" -Lala (and a million other Lala's before.)
  6. Yes! I'm not sure if Kim got started as a child-star, but its like she expects everything to be about her and catered to her. It seems like instead of deciding whether an event is appropriate for her, its more important for her to go and shake her head, wag her finger, and show her distaste. If it ain't about hovering over her children and husband, then its not up Kim's alley. Which is fine, but very boring for the viewers. I believe her to be judgmental, and she's made no effort to get to know the other women (who she probably believes are beneath her). Even when Sheree went and checked on Kim on the bus, Kim wasn't happy someone cared enough to check on her, she was more interested in her "this is inappropriate" mode. IA that every parent has the right to decide when their children are ready for certain messages. Unfortunately, some children will never get those important messages at home- at any age. (Think parents that don't give safe sex talks.) Why WAS Porsha at the meeting with the congresswoman? To remind us of her background? That didn't seem like a Porsha event to attend!
  7. Yes! That would have been perfect after he said, "It's my birthday, but don't expect any special treatment or tantrums from me!" (Not his exact words, but you get the drift.) Very newly engaged here, and the sex- thing, well to each their own. Don't want to make it personal, but I'm not that shocked. Many of my friends lived with their boyfriends for years before their engagement, so its not like much changed for them in that department. And by the way, didn't Sandoval clean up in the scorching heat after Scheana's dream wedding? (Always out for himself- my ass.)
  8. Tom and flatiron= best part of the episode for me. Funny how even when Ariana is doing something cute (like the two balconies scene) she seems so dour and unhappy. I think that she's one of those ones who should remain single, and is more in love with the idea of being in love than in a long-term relationship. Eh, I have no problem with Katie and Tom's sexual activities or lack thereof. I know they're just setting it up for a "We had amazing engagement sex last night," brunch scene anyways.Different relationships are different, and they've been living together for like six or seven years by now I believe. Yeah, I haven't been enjoying the show now that it's so LaLa/James/Brittany-centric. I don't care about any of those people, and wish they'd leave and bring back crazy Kristen. LaLa seems so one-dimensional to me, and I don't understand her frustration that Brittany didn't chose to believe her. Brittany and her aren't friends. If I engaged in that kind of behavior with a guy who had a girlfriend and I told her about it, my conscience would be clear and I would move on. I don't see the point in getting teary that Jax wont admit it. Jax is nothing to cry about, and I'd be more likely to cry if he admitted that we did have a flirtation! I don't think that LaLa fits in well with the group. But I only half watched, so maybe there's something I missed. (And I'm aware that she was drunk.) James is so creepy he's starting to remind me of a date-rapist. He salivates around/over LaLa like she's a piece of meat (or trophy to throw in Jax's face) and has no interest in getting to know her as an actual person. She's a conquest (to him), and not even worth buying flowers for (or any of that "romantic" stuff). Ariana and Tom- heh. So the elephant was addressed on camera. Know-it-all, thinks she's better than everyone, etc. However, I don't blame Tom. Maybe "fame" has gone to her head? But she strikes me as someone who was always...Ariana. So why is "mom" worried now? Scheana is the worst friend and wife ever. Worst friend to text with Ariana's mom, and worst wife for the obvious reasons (see exhibit A: the dropped tequila shot on the beach). Then she gossips about Ariana to Katie saying now Katie's her bestie. I had totally forgotten how hard Scheana tried to get in with Stassi, Katie, and Kristen in old episodes (and they basically laughed her off). My how the tables have turned! Agree Max needs to go home, and James is a shit friend for caring more that Max helps him get laid than he does Max. If Max were not Max Vanderpump (or the only one who would hang out with him besides LaLa) would James be friends with Max?
  9. I don't think its rude to remove a child when they're acting up, but Kim acted a little frosty pointing her finger and exciting stage left. It's not like she politely removed herself (IMO), it was obvious to everyone there that she was leaving with a chip on her shoulder. IMO she acts sanctimonious quite often. I don't know where she thought she was going or what she thought they going to do, but some of the things she said like Phaedra needing to tell her kids this, but Kim not needing to- rubbed me the wrong way. And then she pulled the Kim Fields move- leave early. (Kidding)
  10. Sanctimommy is getting so tiresome. She's rude and uses her sons as an excuse to be rude, ergo her son has learned to be rude. Kim kept complaining that the trip was "too adult". Where did Kim think she was taking her kids? It's as if she expected them to be playing games and doing crafts, along with a scheduled story and nap time. I just don't like the way that Kim acts. She acts like she's some big star, and if she doesn't want to do something she's just rude and leaves. I couldn't stand the way that she was acting on the bus when talking to Sheree over Happy Meals. And when her eight year old son said something about "stupid congressmen" she should have corrected him. We were not allowed to use the word "stupid" at that age, and it's unbecoming IMO. Also did not like her shade-throwing at Phaedra. Something about how Phaedra's children needed the lecture but not her children, because her children's father wasn't in jail. Have several seats. Cynthia looked gorgeous (and giddy) during her meetup with NeNe. If Cynthia can forgive Peter his transgressions, I guess NeNe's barely rate! If I didn't know any better, I would think that they pulled a Jill Zarin. (Kidding.)
  11. Still struggling to see what Phaedra's MO is with her THs. Does she think that it makes her look better when she says, "I guess I'll just pay since it's Todd's only job."* Because it doesn't. It makes her look petty, mean, and angry that she has to pay for something that she already agreed to pay. What a strange woman. *Paraphrased from the episode.
  12. Or if it was anyone other than Kenya. What about Patricia?! If anyone is damaged in this situation- it's her-the social worker, who helps other people's children but doesn't acknowledge her own at 60+. Kenya may have waved a scepter in someone's face, but she never abandoned her own child. Patricia's wrong-doings far outweigh Kenya's IMO, YMMV and all that but its hard to compare "acts like a victim" to "treats child like she doesn't exist forty-ish years and counting."
  13. I don't judge Patricia's choices as a 15 year old. I'm judging her by who she is now. And I think she's a selfish and cruel human being- to put it mildly. To attend functions that your own child is at and show no interest is completely baffling. She should've sat her ass at home if she couldn't be civil. If Kenya were (God forbid) to be hit by a bus tomorrow would Patricia attend the funeral? Would she be relieved or regret the decisions she's made up to this point? It baffles me that a woman with so little empathy for her own "daughter" chose to go into social work. I don't get it, and I never will. It makes me grateful that I have a mother who cares about me. Re: Phaedra/Todd, I thought Kandi posted on Twitter that Todd had still not been paid(?)
  14. Poker is different from craps or roulette. You don't play against the house, you play against the other players. Tournaments usually have a small entry fees, but cash games are where its at if you're an actual student of the game- IMO. I'll sit alone at my table of one, as usual. I think it's sweet that VP plays the game his recently deceased father taught him. For me, the jury is still out on whether or not he's the worst husband ever.
  15. I tried to stay away, but I just can't. Phaedra is in the wrong on this one big time. It doesn't matter if Todd wears a suit and tie or a freaking sweat suit and backpack. Phaedra admitting on camera to holding up giving Todd the photo to avoid giving him the money blows my mind. She seems like a terrible lawyer. Or one who knows she can slither out of anything. Too bad Todd won't sue because I would love to hear Phaedra speak to a judge. (Flashbacks to the last time she was questioned.) Apollo and Phaedra are perfect for each other. One steals cars, the other steals people's labor and time.I don't believe they're over. I have no idea why Phaedra is letting herself look this bad on TV. I would never want it to look like I don't pay my debts, and I don't put honor into my word. VERY STRANGE. Even if its a pretend story line (which I don't think it is) Phaedra has nothing to gain from this. It's $8,000- not $80,000 pay and move on. There are real women out there who can't afford their bills when hubby goes to jail. Does the bank care? Phaedra, who by all accounts is rich, gets no sympathy from me.
  16. I personally don't think that Vince is some degenerate loser gambler who treats Eileen like crap. I'm biased because I've played poker for a long time, but I don't understand how he's suddenly the Jim Edmonds of this series. Oh well, I have no stock in convincing anyone to like him, but he does work. I've watched him as an announcer for the World Series of Poker for 13 seasons. He's also been in some advertising and co-authored a book about poker. As for the dress, also biased because I hear women everyday talking about hiding credit card statements from their husbands due to how much they spent. I don't recall any of their other banter, but I'm not writing him off as a bad husband or person yet. Yolanda calling Bella- agree with all thoughts on that. You know, I don't have anything interesting to add about this episode. I did find the note by Eileen to be written strangely. And I feel bad for the original hotel!
  17. Vince Van Patton has a net worth of 2$ mil as far as I can tell. ED has a net worth of $3 mil (again as far as I can tell). Make of that what you will.
  18. Last time I took a contracts class, being mad that your friend took your husband's side was not an acceptable "out" to end a contract. I suppose Phaedra took a different law curriculum than I did. She will do everything in her power not to pay that money. Very ethical of the wonderful Phaedra Parks. It's stupid for Phaedra to look down on "the help" when they have jobs that don't involve the crap that Apollo has done. She isn't above anybody especially with her non-ethical approach to business. I can't believe she refers to human beings as "the help" with such a condescending smug look on her face. Okay, her exact words were, "I don't fraternize with my friend's employees." Which is stupid as they are all characters on the same reality show. Anyone who says that about someone is clearly trying to put themselves in a position of superiority over "the employees/the help." I'm not buying it. Phaedra Parks has no ethical or moral ground over DJ or Carmon. I can't stand DJ or Carmon, but I can't stand pretensions fakes even more. And last I checked Phaedra was still married to Apollo, so its a little premature to say anyone picked a side. Maybe divorce his ass and there will be a side to take. Or are you too afraid of what he may say about you in court? Since Porsha and Phaedra are such "great" friends, I'd like to see Porsha's reaction to Phaedra dismissing Lauren with an, "I don't talk to my friend's employees." I have no patience for anyone who throws around their money/station as if they're superior to another human being. May be my issue, but it automatically makes me think less of that person. Look down on the person handing you your burger and fries? Look down on the person cleaning your house? Get over yourself. It doesn't matter, Phaedra won't lose any sleep over my opinion. There's always someone richer/ more accomplished that can walk through the door. How would Phaedra feel if one of the HWs sneered at her, "I don't talk to those that fraternize with convicted felons"? She needs to check her own life before she gets smug on anyone. I liked her a lot before this episode, but that changed during her TH's over Todd, and the flashbacks disproving her blatant lies. Starting to feel like I'm repeating myself. I've made my point. See ya'll next episode (maybe).
  19. Wow. I have always liked Phaedra, but now I see why she's been called Fakedra. I would never speak to her again if I were Kandi. Kandi isn't perfect either, but Phaedra's THs were too much. All over $8,000. When she said something about, "Aww poor Todd must be looking in the couch cushions," I wanted to slap her smug face. Phaedra YOU look like the broke-ass one, arguing and seething over $8,000. What is your deal? Any sympathy I had for her is now gone. I started giving her the side-eye the moment she said she doesn't "Fraternize with her friend's workers." Phaedra, your husband is a convicted felon and you met him in jail- you aren't too good to talk to anybody and you never will be. At least Kandi's workers don't steal from other people to make a living. Phaedra and Porsha, you can miss me acting like you're so above talking to Kandi's team. Porsha you're where you're at because you married Kordell. So miss me thinking you're better than the "hired help". Is that how you see Lauren? Judging by how you treat her- probably. Sorry sister, but you aren't Kim and you never will be. (I don't even like Carmon and Don Juan, so I'm not standing up for them for any reason beyond common decency.) And acting like you can't remember someone's name and implying a gay man is on his period are so funny Porsha! Except that you just copied old tired jokes. Nobody here is likable anymore. Kenya was left by her parent's and given to her grandmother. Because Dad got older and decided he wanted all of his kids to live under one roof earns him no pass from me. His dream? What the fuck ever. What about your children's dreams? You abandoned your kids when it was convenient and then when it suited your ego and your dream you wanted them all together? And when Kenya didn't follow your plan your ego was hurt, so you didn't talk to her for 5 years? Pathetic excuse for a father. And I doubt he would have anything to do with Kenya now if she was poor. Kenya's father is all about what she can do for him, fill some spot in his guilty conscience, complete his dream, boost his ego, etc. I wouldn't doubt that she's "loaning" him money.
  20. Did anyone else notice the scene where Sandoval went in to greet Ariana after being away and she immediately put out her hand to get the money he won? And then she handed it back in the alley all, "Here you'll need this to get your tattoo removed." I wish Sandoval had stuck up for himself. My body, my choice! Not that I like the tattoo, but Ariana sounded like his mom telling him what to do... ah hah Tom's mom explains so much of their relationship now. I would bet money (heh) that Ariana made Tom give her a percentage of his winnings as an "agreement" to go on the trip. Stassi v. Ariana would be hilarious. Something tells me Stassi's smarter and quicker on her feet than Ariana. I also loved her saying, "I get to decide when I'm ready." Did she even mention Tom's feelings?
  21. Sometimes people in relationships "let themselves go*". Could be a sign of unhappiness. Or could be a sign of happiness and no longer looking for other options. Either way its common after the first few years of dating. *Not that Sandoval looks bad! But he does look different from the fake tan loving, hair straightening, makeup wearing Tom. I think past season Sandoval was upping his game to get with Ariana, and now that he's with her he's more comfortable with his natural appearance and ceased the numerous grooming rituals. Too bad because they were fun to watch, but I can't say I blame the guy! He was probably trying harder when he was with Kristen because he was on the lookout for another girl. Totally convinced the ominous, "Now let's cheat," is foreshadowing that Kristen will show up. Whoever spots her lurking in the background wins a cookie!
  22. Yes, production is clearly hoping for another cheating scandal. I wouldn't put it past them to actually scout girls to send over to the group. Eh. Not that the guys need it, I think they all have reasonably low-standards that would allow for getting laid in Vegas. The girl-on-girl party was so... typical. Inviting LaLa- probably producer driven. My partner walked in when she was on-screen and asked why her face was orange. I think its makeup? Or we just have a messed up TV. Interesting in a group with Scheana someone else stands out as having a lot of makeup on. Just realized I used "producer driven" twice. I usually get lost in these shows and see them as mostly real, so I guess I felt something was off about this episode.
  23. Yeah, I wouldn't trust any of these guys alone in Vegas. So I wouldn't be dating them in the first place! Sadly, I think the butt-in-faces thing is typical frat-boy behavior. Times have changed. A LOT. You should hear what they do for hazing. Not sure why "straight" guys are into that, maybe latent curiosity? I think sexuality is very fluid so I may not be the right person to analyze that. Re: The Amazing Ari (love that name), I agree that her not wanting Tom to go to Vegas had nothing to do with the day after her birthday. (Is anyone buying that excuse?) It was a little funny (and sad) how none of the guys seemed to give a shit how their girlfriends felt. Schwartz and Katie were particularly troubling because he's supposed to be planning on marrying her. Jax talking about Scheana not letting Shay go to Vegas and saying he'd never get married- HA! Biggest laugh of the night for me. No awareness- that one. His girlfriend seems like a total airhead as well. (I'm judgmental.) Regarding Tom Sandoval's appearance- I do think that he looks more unkempt this season. When he was with Kristen maybe she demanded he keep his appearance up, maybe he's used to the cameras by now and over it, maybe he is or isn't happy with his relationship. (I still maintain Kristen stole his straight iron.) Who knows? I did notice he took the time to groom in Vegas though.
  24. Thank you! I thought for sure this was going to be "all Kenya's fault" because no one here likes Kenya. Thank God that is not the case. I have never seen such violence from a man towards a woman in my life, and I hope to never see it again. That push was HARD. I watched it multiple times in shock. I can't believe a grown man would do that to his own aunt and blame it on Kenya for asking him to leave. Wow, when people ask me to leave I have the right to beat their asses? Good to know. I'll be sure to throw in some racist, misogynistic, homophobic or whatever language best fits the situation for good measure. Because ya know once someone asks me to leave their home I'm no longer responsible for my actions. Ugh. I am so disgusted and disappointed. BTW: The way the nephew was acting towards Kandi WAS creepy, and women should not tolerate that shit. Phaedra should know better, after the hammer incident with Apollo. And Kim Fields can take several seats. The way she had to keep insisting she left because she was worried for her safety and NOT because she missed her husband. We see you, and we don't need to hear you lie repeatedly.
  25. I think they go crazy about any new girl that works there, because they see them as notches/badges. Seems to be the trend to sleep with as many SUR girls as possible.
