I totally agree that as sanctimonious and overdramatic as Caroline usually is, she is the one who showed general concern about Nicholas as a person who will have a lifetime of difficulties to overcome, vs. Jac as seeing how disappointed she was that her baby wasn't 'perfect' and was going to cramp her style by needing additional treatment. Chris is a friendly guy, but I also agree that he appeases Jac just so she'll leave him alone. He's one of those guys who compartmentalizes everything - ok, wife is appeased, check box and move to stepdaughter is put in line, check box, now back to work, check box, let's make sure nephews get a Black Water lecture, check box, and move on.

Vivian's training camp time is reminiscent of Megan Flaherty, in the sense that Kelli started out rooting for her, but just can't quite pull the trigger to let her in, Judi hates her (I think she hated both of them because they weren't tall, skinny blonds and had more personality past 'yes, ma'am' and 'no ma'am'), and Kitty knows neither one of them can dance as well as a DCC needs to. I'm no Vivian fan, and was meh about Megan, but both of them have stand alone personalities, meaning they have the potential to be known as Vivian or Megan, and not just Vivian the DCC or Megan the DCC. They also have a little bit of a stubborn streak or strong personality to have their own non-robotic opinions, and nothing is less appealing to Kelli and Judy than a non-stepford DCC. Same reason Melissa Rycroft had problems while on the team. The only other 'stand out' personality they tolerated, IMO, was Abigail Klein. She had zero personality, was a middle of the road dancer, IMO, and got as thick through the middle as Hannah is now during her 2nd season, but she was just so pretty, that Kelli thought she walked on water.

So were scenes with Jay cut back before or after he told them he didn't think Cassie should get a free pass for her injuries? Interesting..... I like Kelli, and think she takes her job seriously, plus she has some difficult decisions to maintain the brand vs. being nice to nice girls. I watched the old Jane Seymour DCC movie, and the coach was portrayed very similar, and that was filmed probably 10 years before Kelli was a DCC. Judy, on the other and, I see as Total Bitch. She's mean. She's snide, she is arrogant, she doesn't care to humiliate or belittle girls, and she thinks the DCC are far more prestigious than they are. If it were up to Judy, I think she'd have 35 tall skinny blonds who had years of training, but no personality. It does amaze me at how no matter how great a girl dances, if she says she hasn't had years and years of dance, Judy acts like she wants to shoot her. I also want to cut off at least a foot of Judy's straw hair.

I really thought Hannah would be a point girl, so I'm sad that she had some weight gain, and they really didn't like that. Who knows if it was bad habits, medication, metabolism changing, or whatever, but she still didn't have flab or rolls. I think she could've toned it, unless she really didn't want to put her body through such strenuous dieting. I really liked the girl Kitty said was overtanned. I also liked Breelin, and didn't see any brattiness from her. Ashley that was cut last year and came back (and still has bad kicks), appears a bit snooty and bitchy to me, but she is very pretty. Poor Morgan, I never liked her or thought she could dance, but dang, when girlfriend isn't smiling, she looks downright haggard. Older, rougher and not pretty. I liked the girl from Pittsburgh who said she was a diehard Steelers fan, but I agree with the judge who said she didn't quite have the DCC look, and probably couldn't achieve it. It's too bad the Steelers don't have cheerleaders, or she'd be a good candidate. I do wish Melissa Rycroft would do something with her hair while she's on the show. She looks sloppy as well. One girl in the interviews who had a shorter blond bob looked like she had so much Botox she couldn't move her face. It was distracting.

I guess they blocked out how stringy and thin Cassie's hair looked her first year or two.

Carole Radziwill: She's a Real Princess!
RazzleberryPie replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Carole looks great for 50, especially body wise. She's teeny, but fit and not stringy thin. I do think her hair ages her a little, because the style is very young, but I also thought she was the same age as Aviva. -
5'7" my Italian Ass LOL. I'd put him at 5'3". Joe Giudice is about 5'6", Joe Gorga about 5'5", and Amber's husband is shorter than both of them.

Carole Radziwill: She's a Real Princess!

I don't think Aviva is mentally ill. I think she's just an aging spoiled brat. No doubt losing her leg was extremely traumatic both physically and mentally. However, I think she was coddled before it, and then it escalated after her accident. She shows signs of extreme admiration, then trying to model herself after a person, becoming angry when she can't accomplish that, turning on the formerly admired person, then obsessively reacting - much like a spoiled child who throws a tantrum when she doesn't get her way. First she hated Ramona for not immediately accepting and babying her, then turned on Carole the same way, only worse. -
Dina Manzo: The Bitch is Back
RazzleberryPie replied to Stinger97's topic in The Real Housewives Of New Jersey
Dina's loyalties definitely lie toward Teresa, but by now, I think Dina has had plenty of time to see both sides of the issue. I'm sure she's heard tons about Teresa from Caroline and Jacqueline as well. Melissa seems as scared of Dina as she was of Caroline, almost to the verge of butt-kissing. -

I don't know how Carole, as pretentiously mellow as she is, didn't get up and beat Aviva with her prosthetic leg. Whether or not Aviva enjoys Carole's writing style or subject matter, Carole is a successful published author. She has worked as a writer or producer for decades. She's legit. Writer Girl - someone please give Carole a superhero cape with a big ol' WG - knew the proper meaning of the word "weird" and used it correctly. My biggest peeve with that whole 'ghost writer' BS, is that no matter how many times Aviva screeched that 'she heard word on the street people are saying' Carole had a ghostwriter, Carole said SHE DID NOT HAVE A GHOSTWRITER. End of story. Oh, BTW, if Carole can prove Aviva's false remarks are harming her image and her business, she may have grounds to sue for slander... -

Dina Manzo: The Bitch is Back

Chris was supposedly engaged to Dina's best friend, but hooking up with Jac. Jac got knocked up, most likely on purpose, Chris married her, and therefore Dina and Jac did not get along. This is also why Caroline didn't like her. I liked Dina calmly calling out the short little bitchy husband of Amber for calling all of them stupid and being so condescending. I liked it even more when she just walked away. I also like that she won't drag her problems with Caroline into the show, and that she will openly say that Melissa is one to stir shit, then claim innocent. -
Everything about the Dubrows is so calculated, rehearsed and contrived, that I just don't buy any of it. My opinion is she had a decent career, it didn't take off into Julia Roberts or even Jennifer Aniston status, so Heather decided it was a good time to start a family. No doubt in my mind that if she was on the road to superstardom and in very high demand, she would've kept working and held off on the babies. I also suspect she's the kind who would pop out another one each time her husband started to wander a little, or wanted to know why she isn't gong back to work (even though Terry very rehearsedly begged her to stay home or whatever bull$hit that was in the first season - more "I CAN"T be Meryl Streep, because my family NEEDS me" fodder, IMO. The whole "I would've been the next Meryl Streep, but I sacrificed it all for my unborn babies," makes me yawn and roll my eyes. Maybe dry hoark a little bit like Vicki.

Bring It On Courtney and Tessa didn't look so "fresh as springtime" to me. Courtney just doesn't have that DCC spark and looks - I hate to say "old," but tired or not so fresh applies. Tessa is gorgeous and has a great personality for media, but if they're fearing an injury, she doesn't have enough flexibility, and she's looking a little withered (maybe that's a better word, because they don't look old, but look like they've had damage from tanning, too much makeup and maybe being too thin), I get why she wasn't chosen. Vivian seemed fake and dramatic to me last year, and she's worse this year. She just has that "trouble waiting to happen" attitude, and I loathe sob stories that just get more and more elaborate, but don't quite add up. Of course, I thought Melissa Rycroft was over dramatic and annoying back in the day, too. Not a sob story or false, but annoying.

Heather, eat the damn cake, or anything, without a culinary commentary, and you might be nicer. Hongry people are mean. I thought it was totally weird how Terry - sissy whiney boy - turned Shannon's husband's words of "you can't take us down" into some kind of macho physical attack. I thought Mr. Shannon was saying "we have a marriage you can't ruin" NOT "I have bigger muscles and will knock you out." Mr. Shannon has never come off as wanting to fight or being Mr. Joe Gorga Manly Man. Terry really revealed some of his issues with that statement.
-
Shannon is sheltered and financially spoiled, but she's been the most honest and direct HW in YEARS in terms of communicating what she needs and feels, and not letting the other women intimidate her. I think she has a good heart, but just doesn't "get" why the other women want to pick fights with her. I do think the Dubrows can't stand that someone may be wealthier, have a larger home, be more sincerely devoted to their children (I think Heather uses her children as props so she can drill into our heads she's a working mother who sacrificed being the next Angelina Jolie for her children). Shannon isn't competing with anyone, but for some reason Heather sees her as a threat (just like her needing to go after dumb Alexis), and twists every single situation to portray Shannon as crazy, loud, in a bad marriage, and projecting that Shannon is after her. No, Heather is after Shannon.

The Jessa apple doesn't fall far from the Michelle tree in terms of narcissism. If cell phones had been around in 1984, Michelle would've been the Selfie Queen. I agree with the poster who said Jim Bob doesn't seem thrilled with Ben. I think JB bit off more than he intended to chew with allowing Ben to court Jessa. Ben is far more vocal and harder to control than they expected - he's a loose cannon. Ben also leers at Jessa worse than any teenage I've seen, ranging from the sheltered altar boys to more mainstream kids who are allowed to hold hands and normal hug. I think that rightly skeeves Jim Bob. Also, Jessa's makeup gun, and subsequently all the other girls down to Joy, has been cranked up to Playboy level, and Jessa's and Jinger's clothes are intentionally tight. Everything is covered, but you can see the outline of every curve and crevice. They're intentionally making their outward appearance sexually appealing to men. That's not modest. For any one else, not so bad. For people who preach and screech modesty, they need to shut their pie holes.

Dear Lord, Heather is INSUFFERABLE. I blame it on her being hungry. She is such a bulldog and won't let go when she feels challenged, even if she's lying through her teeth and being mean on purpose. I realize 99% of the time she's on camera she's acting, because seriously, she's not that good of an actress and appears fake 24/7. I also wish Lydia would come back and stand up to Heather like Lydia stood up to Slade. Lydia is younger, thinner, wealthier and more confident than Heather, and I think Heather would try to take down Lydia just like she's trying to take down Shannon. Yes, I totally believe the Dubrows said and intend to dethrone Shannon from whatever imaginary hierarchy they've invented.

Riverblue, a lot of these fundie trips are Missionary Tourism type deals. They benefit the missionaries more than anyone else. They usually go for a week or two to a disadvantaged area - the more exotic the better (Mexico, Central American countries, Native American reservations, Appalachia, Inner City, etc) and spend a week living in a church, rebuilding, teaching English, hosting Bible schools, having health clinics, etc. There are plenty of church services and "outreach" where they share the Gospel and try to get people to get saved. From my experience (rural Mexico, Kentucky, Cherokee NC, Warsaw), most of the native population takes it with a grain of salt. In the more rural and less educated areas, they accept the help and are polite, but think the White Man's Guilt and/or self righteousness from week long missionaries is amusing. In more educated areas (Warsaw in my experience), the people were more outspoken and rolled their eyes at evangelicals trying to convert a society without taking any cultural context into consideration. You can't be very successful trying to convert traditional Catholics and post-Communist athiests into forgoing pants and never touching alcohol. Now on the other hand, missionaries like Derrick - who get to know the culture, are polite, take longer time commitment and show sincerity - are far more respected and have more of a chance of converting or at least educating native populations.

Ben saw the picture of kids or actual kids bowing by a Madonna statue. He jumped the gun wanting to believe the heathen children were worshipping Mary, so he could reiterate that his faith is superior to anyone else's. I could look at a photo of someone sitting in on a rock praying, and rant that they were worshipping nature and going straight to hell, or I could keep my nose to myself and think maybe they're just praying on a rock - not to a rock. Ben is an immature, sheltered teenager. He just wants something to rally around and use to assert dominance. Normal kids play football or video games to get out this aggression. Ben uses religion to do this. It's sad, but if he grew up in Iraq, he'd probably be strapping a bomb to his chest. As for Jessa, as long as she can pile on makeup and take selfies, she'll follow anything.
