  1. And hot on the heels of the WGA nominations yesterday, here are the DGA nominations released today: DGA Awards Unveils Nominations in Feature Film Categories Here's the absolutely shocking piece of information from the release: What?!?! I'm astonished!
  2. Writers' Guild nominations are out: WGA Awards: Full List of Nominations
  3. My opinion certainly is no more valid than yours but I think Cuaron is an absolute lock for Best Director, regardless of the Academy's choice for Best Picture. There is still wiggle room in the other categories, IMO.
  4. I think SAG gives the cast award to Black Panther. I don't see how the depth of that cast can possibly be denied. I still look at Roma as the front runner for the Oscar.
  5. I was hoping for a Black Panther win and I'm still hoping it wins the Oscar but I'm sitting here smiling at the shocking win for Bohemian Rhapsody, which I also enjoyed. I didn't see ASIB, but I don't think a FOURTH telling of the same old story should win for Best Picture, no matter how well done.
  6. I can't stop crying. This speech! I wanted Glenn to win so badly. She was wonderful in this movie that most people will not have seen. I hope this is the first step to her finally winning an Oscar.
  7. Roma is a gorgeous film and an incredible cinematic achievement for Cuaron. He did EVERYTHING on the film. All that said, I found the first half of the film quite boring but I'm glad I stuck with it because the second half is riveting. You can't stop thinking about the film after you've seen it. It just stays with you. I'm pleased for him. And while I won't be upset if Roma wins the Oscar, I'm rooting for Black Panther. :)
  8. Jeff Bridges has been in SO many great films. That montage was something else.
  9. This. And Green Book isn't a comedy either. Yes there are some funny moments but under what circumstances can the Jim Crow south be perceived as funny?
  10. Alcoholic beverages; what makes the Golden Globes more interesting than all the other awards. :)
  11. I didn't watch Sharp Objects but I've enjoyed Patricia Clarkson's work for decades. I'm very happy for her.
  12. I'm thrilled that Mahershala Ali won! I think his performance in Green Book was even better than his work in Moonlight, where he was great. Well done HFPA.
  13. And Nicolas Cage. But the less said about that the better. Ha!
  14. Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse should be mentioned in the same breath as Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians. Having a Black/Latino Spider-Man is truly a high point for representation. And a female. And a young Asian girl. Amazing movie and not just from the animation viewpoint.
  15. Mahershala Ali's got the right idea. Show up to the carpet at the VERY LAST MINUTE. Wave and walk past all the interviewers. LOL
  16. Overall, the fashion tonight has been pretty underwhelming.
  17. I LOVE Janelle Monae's fashion sense. Pick any carpet in the past few years and I'll have her counted among my favorite looks. I just love her.
  18. Yes. Almost all of them have 40+ years in the HFPA. (This one you've posted is a freakin' newbie!) They're OLD! (I'm a baby boomer. I can say that. LOL) It's why I don't think we can count the GGs as a particularly accurate predictor for other upcoming awards. They're such a unique voting group compared to the other awards.
  19. Brian May and Roger Taylor are there with Rami Malek! Love it.
