  1. Blegh is Julianne a confirmed judge? I hate a 4 judge panel it's just too much opinion. Plus... she added nothing in terms of her point of view differentiating from the other 3.
  2. I'm not sure if this is a spoiler or not, but just read that... ...just signed on to be apart of the cast. If this is true... I have serious doubts about this cast.
  3. I doubt Lochte would do the show... as I'm almost certain he thinks he's too big for the show. If he does, I feel bad for whatever female pro gets him that's for certain. I don't care if he's the next Fred Astaire, I would never vote for him, ever.
  4. Though I'm a huge Laurie Hernandez fan, I think she's super cute and talented and she's even from my hometown (not claiming I know her, but it's exciting to have someone from your hometown in the Olympics) I seriously can't stand when someone who's under 18 is on the show. Even when it was Whitney and Cody, and their age gap was only a couple of years, the edit/framing is always so weird and distracting. The only under 18 contestant I was ever a fan of was Zendaya, and even then, if she was 18 and was able to do dances without thinking about her age, those dances could have been even better. If Laurie continues with gymnastics i bet she'll be on the team in 2020 so I'm sure she can be on the show then. Just wait until the girls 18 for the love of God. If it's going to be anyone from the team, I hope it's Gabby. She deserves some good press and now that this whole Ryan Lochte thing has blown up a lot of the heat is off her. If she plays it right she can really sway her image back to a positive light.
  5. Does anyone else think if Nick did to Amanda what Amanda is doing to Nick, Nick would be seen as a total a**hole and whatever new girl he'd be making out with would be seen as some kind of slut? From the way the whole Nick-Amandaa-Josh thing is edited, it complete looks like Amanda went on the date with Josh and began to make out with him ever since with no conversation with Nick that she's no longer into him. If the situation was reversed and Nick did that to Amanda (who was so dreadfully boring on Ben's season and is no different on BIP) then Nick would be vilified for doing that to beautiful mother Amanda who's looking for a father for her children. I think it's just really hypocritical on the show's part to give Amanda a pass on that. Say what you will about Carly but at least she told Evan to his face and didn't just blatantly make out with someone in front of his face.
  6. I'm glad someone else knows that the Real World Boston is the best season of all time. I wish they'd put the original 10 seasons on some streaming service, you can't find them anywhere not even DVD.
  7. Hi all! New to the forums! Learning a lot from all your comments! I have questions that I'd LOVE for someone to answer/speculate for me. So I'm reading the theories of who Daenerys will marry and the sort of very obvious choice would clearly be Jon Snow, as he is now King of the North. Those 2 combined would have a formiddable army, and since Daenerys has dragons, Jon would presumably ascertain that they would be key in defeating the Night Walkers. However wouldn't it make more sense marrying a Tyrell. From what I can tell there are still 2 Tyrell children who have never been on the show, Willas (the eldest and heir), and Garlan. Some ideas: Olenna is allied with Daenerys through Varys from the scene in Dorne. Olenna wants revenge against Cersei and marrying her grandson to whom I'm sure she can see is the true heir to the Iron Throne would put her family back on top politically. Plus, since the Lannisters are no longer the most wealthy family, I can only assume that title would go to the Tyrell's and that would benefit Daenerys, on top of the Tyrell's being well liked (at the very least, much more liked than the Lannisters). It would make sense for the other 2 Tyrell's to be cast onto the show to join their grandmother in avenging their father and their siblings' deaths. I mean... are they really just going to chill in High Garden while all of this is going on? In terms of the complexity of the show, is it really going to distill down to Lannister's v. Stark's v. Targaryan's? The show has spanned continents and families for the past 5 seasons, it seems a simple way to go considering the scope of the plot and the characters. Any clarity on this would be great!!!
  8. I love Paige, she's honestly my favorite female contestant in a long time. Works hard, clearly wants to be there, has talent, isn't forced down my throat, balances out Mark's energy really well. I do wonder what it was like for her to work with Antonio though, she seemed very preoccupied with him not dropping her and I mean... he's a pro NFL player who is doing offseason training simultaneously as doing DWTS. Simply looking Antonio, something pretty significant would have to happen for him to drop her. Although that lift didn't look like it was easy. She also seemed to have the same concerns with Mark and Alan (even though I hear her and Alan are dating now) so maybe that's just her personality.
  9. As the biggest Val fan, I'd much prefer Jodie over Ginger. I feel bad for Jodie since this was an amazing night for her.
  10. I know it's popular opinion that Keo is not up to snuff on this show, and usually I share that opinion, but that was by far his best choreography and Jodie's best dance, including her dance with Val. They both deserved that 30.
  11. I actually forgot about that photoshoot! I was thinking of a time where the contestants had take a phone of Nyle's that he used where he would type what he would want to say and the phone use an automated voice to say it for him. The contestants took it and used it for selfies.... Not entirely surprising bc they are on a modeling show but I remember thinking "wow, the guys are super vein and Nyle deserves better."
  12. Funny you mention that, bc there were times that Nyle was frustrated on ANTM bc people weren't paying attention, or not accommodating enough, to the fact that he is deaf. In terms of the judges hmmm, I can't remember anyone crying over Nyle.
  13. I love the concept of the silent moment in Nyle's dance was pretty genius, but can't me as someone that that thinks that moment would have been better if it was just him, or just him and Peta. I think his deafness is so intimate to him, and his partnership with Peta, that it would have been more profound in terms of his journey.
  14. How much do you want to bet that the season finale will be Bonnie "convincing" Damon that his feelings for her are more than just a best-friend-like-Elena type love? I mean yea... the show has pretty much proven that if you get into Damon's emotional inner circle, he'll do what he has to do to take care of you, which he's done for Bonnie. However, he was clearly disturbed by Bonnie and Enzo's relationship in the previous episode and I'm sure there was a part of Bonnie that LOVED to rub that in his face. Since Bonnie seems to be the female lead on this show, and all female leads require a love triangle or else there not worthy of substantial plot lines, I'm willing to be Bonnie will pretty much say his feelings are BS and if he really thought about it, he started to have deep feelings for her in that parallel universe jail they were in. Bonnie doesn't get the ... honor I suppose of just happening to get 2 guys to fall in love with her at once, she has to beg Damon to see the true feelings he has for her. That's why she still wanted to kill him after his literal stump speech. Not because of the course, but because she knew that he was full of it.
  15. Totally agree with this. Michael and Janet are different performers but there is a specificity to the Jackson style of dancing. Ginger has never been in the pocket, even though I would say her Salsa was the closest thing to it. But for that street jazz style, there's a certain attitude to it, that Janet and Paula had back in the day that Ginger does not. Smirk does not equal attitude. It's a whole vibe, not a facial expression. However Tamar got criticism last season for hitting it like Janet as well, so it just goes to show that Jackson choreography is hard to do, not that that is any surprise.
  16. First thing's first, Paige's "I'm just a fighter edit" is completely fabricated. There's no way you're busting out double pirouettes without previous dance training. Don't get me wrong, Paige is by far my favorite female contestant, but she's clearly trained. Secondly, I'm sorry but Nyle deserved to be brought down a notch for those comments. Any female contestant who's said that in the past (Tamar, Rumer) were raked over the coals. If you don't want to be treated differently bc you're deaf, well there you go eat some humble pie. Thirdly, I'm a big Val fan but I get nothing from Ginger's dancing. It's so... sterile...
  17. Why are the judges so hard on Jodie? I mean honestly... why? I don't get it. I had no idea it was that bad...
  18. Completely honest question regarding the troupe. The troup hasnt' really become a thing that's used on an episode-to-episode basis until what, maybe 3 seasons ago? So we've had about 19 seasons or so of troup members being reserved for Tuesday night result shows or finales. Maybe it is the fact that we prefer weekly routines the traditional way, purely partners, but why does there seem to be such a dislike for troup members? Imagine having essentially the same resume, training at hte same dance studio, winning the same national or international competitions, but you're dancing in the troupe while someone else is considered to be a "pro" when all-in-all you have the same experience as the "pros". I could imagine that being a source of competitiveness amongst the troupe members as well as the pros. Newer pros have to fight to keep their spot since the more established pros (who didn't have to go through the troupe hazing period) are pros until essentially their contract is up for renegotiation. Look at Lindsay who went from pro-troupe-pro arc on the show. Dancing is just as competitive as any other commercialized entertainment industry and one way to get ahead is camera time. Jenna and Alan have been troupe members for what ... 2 years now? I can see why they want their time to shine since this is what they've dedicated their livelihood to it. Was Alan the most deferential? Does Alan need some media training? Probably. Does a big part of me appreciate that Alan told the truth and was clearly very happy to show the audience what he can do with a celeb. Yea sure. Both Alan and Jenna were in the "Whip-Nae Nae" promos last season which lead us to believe they could be pros. They both have gone on multiple tours. The show has been hinting at it for a while. I can't hate an Alan for seizing an opportunity. Mark has been on the show for A LONG time. By no means do I want him to be injured, I'm a fan of Mark, but maybe that's his body's way of telling him he needs a break.
  19. Alan needs to be a pro. I have love for Mark but has he ever taken a season off? Alan and Paige looked great tonight and I second truthaboutluv in regards to his clear and unrelenting glee to dance with a partner, especially one who is as capable a dancer as she is. He was also extremely affectionate with her, he basically fully embraced her during the whole scoring process. Alan looks like he's ready, and Mark could use a break. The two current football players. I think they are both great and quite frankly if the finale was the two of them, Wanya, and Nyle I'd be one happy lady. The men are way stronger than the women this season, that's just a fact. Which is nice actually as it's been a while since most of the pros in the finale were Val, Derek, and a random female pro. Mischa... Mischa strikes me as someone who has severe anxiety. She just seems perpetually scared. I know she had some issues after The OC and that's why her career didn't take off like it was "supposed" to but I hope this show isn't too much for her. Just because you are a performer, doing something live and televised is entirely different ballgame and if I was her media team right now I'd be thinking of next steps when this show is over because she's coming off very poorly. To that end, it is super irritating to constantly have one female contestant every season (at least for the past 4 or so seasons) that is seen as the difficult contestant. Whether it's Mischa, Tamar, Nastia, Rumer were all painted this way. It different strokes yes, but essentially they were difficult to handle at some point in the season. Mischa with her arms closed, Mischa fixing her make-up, Mischa talking back. It's clear that the producers are portraying her in a way that we're not supposed to like her.
  20. Why Jubilee won't be the next Bachelorette... This goes beyond the fact that's not top 4, which there have never been a Bachelorette that was not top 4... Jubilee from the start came off like a strong contender. Perhaps never a winner contender, but with all things being said I feel comfortable enough in my cynicism to say that most girls comes on this show to be the next bachelorette and not the winner of the season. Jubilee is a veteran, has a unique sense of humor, and besides being West Indian (Hatian) she seemed to set herself apart from many of the girls who were more... interchangeable. When Ben says that Jubilee is "intriguing" I take that to mean he had never seriously dated someone like her and getting to know her better was something he was opened to doing. Well within his rights, and does not make him disingenuous. Jubilee will not be the next bachelorette because like it or not, she doesn't play the game. Even though a lot of people either "love or hate" Jubilee, we don't know much about her beyond the headlines. We don't really know what she's like when she's seriously involved in a suitor because Ben realized that once the "intrigue" was gone between he and Jubilee, other girls were just more important to foster relationships. All prior bachelorettes were either really sweet, or quarky, maybe even witty but they endeared themselves in some kind of way to the public where they can carry the franchise based on what we know of how they are like in a relationship. All we know about Jubilee is that she needs a lot of reassurance. Even though the tables would be turned if she were a bachelorette, I just don't think ABC is willing to hedge their bets and have another Juan Pablo incident (totally different kind of person obviously, but still generally disliked). I like Jubilee, maybe I'm wrong. Who knows maybe she'll do Bachelor in Paradise but I just doubt she'll be a bachelorette.
  21. It is certainly debatable whether or not the commentary made towards Jubilee has racist undertones. I think whenever someone of color on TV gets a negative edit or is shown in an undesirable way, sometimes "racist" is an easy word to throw around to explain why a person is being portrayed that way. Considering the typecasting of The Bachelor over the past years, there have been plenty of outlier cast members that are not black. It's simply the nature of this show. Althoughthe "soccer mom" commentary was definitely loaded. However I will say this, colorism is very much a real thing. Intra-community racism is very prevalent in the black, Latino, Indian, or really any ethnic group that has gone through colonization. While what Amber did may not be termed as a racism, I would argue that Amber is self aware enough to recognize any perceived advantages she may have being lighter skinned than Jubilee, and may capitalize on that. Clearly this backfired on her, however whether consciously or subconsciously, I wouldn't put is past her.
  22. The Babysitter's Club legacy still holds a very special place in my heart Blue Jay lol.
  23. First time ever commenting on a Bachelor board so hey there everyone! I'm posting because it's how strongly I feel about why I don't like Amber. I won't pretend to know what Jubilee's life experience is like and how that affects her ability to relate to other people. However, I do recognize her social awkwardness. I do like here nonetheless as I have the ability to like people who don't have the same exact personality as I do. Which moves me on to Amber. Amber sees that Jubilee is rubbing girls the wrong way and instead of confronting her with even an ounce of compassion (one-on-one to listen to Jubilee's POV before extending her own) she tries to ambush Jubilee with the grown up version of The Babysitter's Club. Then when it doesn't go her way she confronts her in front of Ben to make Jubilee look like the girl that no one likes in the house. Amber deserved to get cursed out because Jubilee saw her game, and so did Ben. Jubilee may have her issues but she's a military girl and I'm sure can handle her own if she feels the need. Good for Ben for recognizing the cattiness and basically saying "No, not today." If someone feels ganged up on of course they are going to retreat, what do you think they're going to do? Stop worrying about Jubilee and worry about Ben, this your 2nd/3rd time on a Bachelor show.
  24. I thought it would be interesting to post the Tamar and Val clips for Tamar's show Tamar & Vince. I watched the premiere episode and was quite frankly shocked at how much DWTS content was in the show, and the fact that it was even allowed. I suspect that took some finagling on Vince's part as I'm sure he had to make that deal mutually beneficial. What I find even more interesting however, is how hilarious they are together. Val's impersonation of Tamar's walk and grey hair joke legitimately had me laughing. When Tamar would say in interviews that he's a little brother type to her I think it's way more obvious in these extended rehearsal packages than the show ever really made it look. It goes to show you the power of editing and how the audience connects to contestants/couples. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3hqxpz_tamar-and-vince-valentay-moments-episode-1_people
  25. LOL if ever there was a "showdown" between Val and Derek that would be it. To echo another poster, I still can't tell them apart. One was the "serious" one and one was the "goofy" one on the show and that's about all I remember. I know one of them has always been very adamant about having a persona outside of her sister so unless ABC was offering serious money (which they might since they are also former Disney Channel Original Movie stars) I doubt this would happen. Would love if at least one of them did it though. I would love any of the gymnast from women's '96 gymnastics Olympic team. The Atlanta games have a special place in my heart and Dominique Dawes was like... my hero. I'd hands down vote for any of them though. Are you saying that AJ makes things happen? Sounds like gossip, do tell! LOL AJ and Kevin were always my faves in BSB, but AJ I think by far is the best dancer so I'm all for AJ joining. Also chiming in for Tatyana Ali from Fresh Prince joining the cast. She's still beautiful, pretty sure she graduated from Harvard, and always seemed to have her head on pretty straight. A good role model all around.
