  1. Wow, Monday's show is a must-watch, considering Harris-Perry's travails with MSNBC. 3/14: Melissa Harris-Perry (Maya Angelou Presidential Chair Professor at Wake Forest University) 3/15: Joe Nocera (author – promoting book “Indentured”) 3/16: Brian Fallon (musician – promoting album “Painkillers”) 3/17: Theo James (actor – promoting movie “The Divergent Series: Allegiant”)
  2. The show has sold out of Drumpf caps, and the Drumpf piece has set a record for the show's most-viewed clip ever (surpassing the FIFA segment).
  3. The conservative site Newsbusters covered last night's "Full Frontal." Pretty sure this is NOT a joke, since people who write for Newsbusters have no sense of humor:
  4. I guess we'll finally get some Friday Night Fights next week: Monday, March 7 Will Arnett; Charles Barkley; Actor Max Greenfield Tuesday, March 8 Helen Mirren; J.J. Abrams; musical performance by DMA’S Wednesday, March 9 Sally Field; Jerrod Carmichael; musical performance by Esperanza Spalding Thursday, March 10 Anna Kendrick; U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch; musical performance by Brian Fallon Friday, March 11 Jeff Daniels; Actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead; Audra McDonald
  5. Next week: Dave Attell (Monday, March 7); Cedric the Entertainer (Tuesday, March 8); Mac Miller (Wednesday, March 9); Peaches (March 10) Interestingly, Peaches is the person who wrote & performs the awesome "Full Frontal with Sam Bee" theme song.
  6. Ooh, this sounds super fun. I've already posted the guests, but I didn't know it was going to be an all-star ToC. "@midnight" March Madness Tournament of Champions guests include Doug Benson, Nikki Glaser, Kyle Kinane (Monday, March 7); Paul F. Tompkins, Jen Kirkman, Randy Sklar (Tuesday, March 8); Ron Funches, Jesse Joyce, Tom Lennon (Wednesday, March 9); March Madness Tournament of Champions FINALS (Thursday, March 10). I wonder if the Sklars drew straws to decide which one would participate? Or maybe Randy's racked up more wins.
  7. I loved the piece about the frat guy who was arrested in North Korea. I hadn't heard about that story, and afterward I looked it up online and read more. He traveled to Cuba last year, so I guess he was trying to go to all of the countries the U.S. doesn't get along with.
  8. 3/7: Ilana Glazer & Abbi Jacobson (promoting “Broad City”) 3/8: Ellen Page (actress – promoting Viceland series “Gaycation”) 3/9: Sacha Baron Cohen (actor – promoting movie “The Brothers Grimsby”) 3/10: Padma Lakshmi (television host & author – promoting book “Love, Loss, and What We Ate: A Memoir”)
  9. At the risk of being overly! controversial!!, a couple of points: I'm glad both Sam and John Oliver are only on once a week. It gives them a chance to really hone the material to a razor sharp edge, and in Sam's case how would she ever have a chance to go out and do field pieces if she was doing shows 4x/week. That said, I wish Sam HAD at least been asked if she was interested in hosting TDS; it seems rude not to acknowledge her. But she's making "Full Frontal" her own, just as JO did something new and exciting with "LWT," and she doesn't have to worry about sticking to the "Daily Show" format. Do we really want to see Sam having to interview Chrissy Teigen? Also, I doubt it was intentional, but the 2010 election piece made me think of the futility of Bernie Sanders' "we need a political revolution" mantra. The people who would be most inclined to want a revolution can't even be bothered to vote in off years.
  10. My husband suggested that perhaps Mike Yard & Jordan Klepper (as first-time panelists) should have been spotted a bonus 500 points each because they were at such a disadvantage. It's hard to compete with Funches!
  11. TNS Tweeted a link to their segment during the Oscars last night. I hope it's addressed on the show (along with that totally WTF Stacy Dash appeareance): https://twitter.com/nightlyshow/status/704126011173179392
  12. I would love to know if anybody actually changes their mind about Trump because of this clip, or anything else, to be honest. I have Republican relatives who would simply choose not to cast a vote in the presidential race if it was Trump vs. Clinton or Sanders, but others are backing Trump because (eye roll) he "speaks his mind," and I'm sure they wouldn't be willing to spend the 15 minutes watching John's marvelous takedown. Nice to see that the clip is getting covered in Donald's ancestral homeland.
  13. Thursday, March 3 Christopher Meloni; Actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead; Medal of Honor Recipient Edward Byers; musical performance by Ray Lamontagne Friday, March 4 Téa Leoni; Amanda Peet; Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog (OAD: 2/18/16) Monday, March 7 Will Arnett; Charles Barkley; Actor Max Greenfield; musical performance by Esperanza Spalding Tuesday, March 8 Hellen Mirren; J.J. Abrams; musical performance by DMA’s
  14. Actually, he pretended to be Swedish -- I was born in Sweden (yes, I'm an immigrant, but not one of those brown ones so I'm sure Trump would be OK with me living here) so I was very glad to hear he was German after all. From Wikipedia: "In a 1976 New York Times biographical profile, and again in Trump's 1987 book, The Art of the Deal, he incorrectly states that Frederick Trump was of Swedish origin, an assertion that Fred Trump had made for many years. Trump later acknowledged his German ancestry and served as grand marshal of the 1999 German-American Steuben Parade in New York City."
  15. I suspect one of the reasons Nikki Glaser got her new Comedy Central show was because of her appearances on @M, and it certainly seems to have boosted Ron Funches' career (though his role on "Undateable" helped too, of course). Since the show puts such an emphasis on Twitter handles it's possible it's increased the comedians' followings on social media. But quite a few of the frequent panelists were fairly well known as headliners before their appearances on the show (Brian Posehn, Doug Benson, Kyle Kinane, Greg Proops, etc.).
  16. A single Sklar Brother on the 8th?! It'll be interesting to see if Randy is more tolerable on his own... Mo 2/29: Ron Funches, Jordan Klepper, Mike Yard Tu 3/1: Hayes MacArthur, Andree Vermeulen, David Koechner We 3/2: Wil Wheaton, Ross Marquand, Marcella Arguello Th 3/3: TBA Mo 3/7: Doug Benson, Nikki Glaser, Kyle Kinane Tu 3/8: Paul F. Tompkins, Jen Kirkman, Randy Sklar We 3/9: Ron Funches, Jesse Joyce, Tom Lennon Th 3/10: TBA Mo 3/14: Whitney Cummings, Josh McDermitt Tu 3/15: Andy Richter, Kulap Vilaysack, Drew Tarver We 3/16: Lauren Lapkus, Kate Berlant, John Early
  17. Fear not, lordonia, because Wil Wheaton is on the schedule for March 2. I think you could make an @Midnight bingo game and have "2 girls, 1 cup" and "one in the pink" and you'd be able to mark those squares off 95% of the time.
  18. Next week: 2/29/16 Daveed Diggs 3/1/16 Malcolm Gladwell 3/2/16 Jon Connor; Keke Palmer 3/3/16 Michael Kenneth Williams
  19. Are you watching the initial airing (11:30 PM)? I notice that if I record one of the later airings (Comedy Central airs the whole TDS/TNS/@M block again at 1:30 AM in my time zone), the ads are WAY sleazier.
  20. The Roy/Jordan piece was disappointing. The Mike Yard/Rory Albanese sketches on TNS are a LOT funnier.
  21. A few small changes/additions: Thursday, Feb. 25 Tim Daly from the CBS drama series “Madam Secretary”; Singer-songwriter Graham Nash; musical performance by Jason Isbell Friday, Feb. 26 Bobby Cannavale; Advertising executive Donny Deutsch; musical performance by Charles Kelley (OAD: 2/5/16) Monday, Feb. 29 Director Spike Jonze; Jeffrey Dean Morgan from the CBS drama series “The Good Wife”; musical performance by Jack Garratt Tuesday, March 1 Christina Hendricks; Chrissy Teigen; Adam Savage of “MythBusters” Wednesday, March 2 Octavia Spencer; The cast of “Fuller House”: John Stamos, Bob Saget and Dave Coulier; musical performance by Lucius
  22. I had heard about the #HarlemNoHate campaign on Dan Savage's podcast, but for some reason I didn't put it together with the "latte sperm" guy from Jessica's interview last year. You can keep up with the Ali Forney Center's campaign to buy the ATLAH property here. Let's hope for a bumper crop of butt babies!
  23. 2/29: Morris Chestnut (actor – promoting Fox TV show “Rosewood”) 3/1: Neal Brennan (comedian – promoting one-man show “3 Mics”) 3/2: Chrissy Teigen (model & author – promoting book “Cravings”) 3/3: Mayor Bill de Blasio (Mayor of NYC)
  24. Victor the Crab, a friend of mine who lives here in California is going up to Vancouver next week to look at condos -- because she's terrified that Trump will win the presidency and she wants to be ready to move to Canada permanently if that comes to pass. (If someone else wins, she'll use it as a vacation home.) I'm not sure if you guys would be happy or not to see an influx of Americans moving across the border come 2017... Canada might want to build a wall!
