  1. I wonder if the fake pundit "Stephen" would have been a gung-ho Trump supporter? It seems like he would have, and maybe that would've been a bridge too far for the real Stephen. The bit with Trump's young advisor was silly (though the kid's obviously a good actor). I guess they pulled the plug on Friday Night Fights.
  2. I was kind of hoping Buzzy wouldn't know the answer in Final and would write, "You're finally rid of me, Trebek."
  3. Just various stand-up specials (including a rebroadcast of "Funcomfortable" on Wed. night). This is what Comedy Central typically does during a two-week break: one week of show reruns, one week of other stuff.

  5. The idea of Hitler so fervently defending somebody named "Buzzy Cohen" is funny in and of itself.
  6. From the AV Club: The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s online engagement is missing one thing: Stephen Colbert
  7. I'm never going to complain about somebody who dresses up for "Jeopardy!" because so many of the contestants dress like slobs. Many of the guys I know don't even OWN a suit, and I suspect that's true of a lot of men these days, unless they have a job that requires it.

  10. This is an excellent interview with Trevor from Playboy.com (SFW now that they don't run pics of naked women any longer!). I learned a lot from it. And I didn't know he had a book coming out later this year: "Born a Crime," publication date Nov. 15.
  11. 5/26: Tip "T.I." Harris, rapper and actor, discussing The History Channel's "Roots" & his new single "Dope."
  12. The live challenge bit where Greg Behrendt held up the sign that said, "People think I manage Smashmouth" had me laughing so hard I had to pause the DVR. He should have won the whole show for that alone. It's rare to see someone with that level of self-awareness (or, if one of the show's writers came up with it, enough of a good sport to roll with it).
  13. 5/23: Rose Byrne (actress – promoting movies “X-Men: Apocalypse” & “Neighbors 2”) 5/24: Katie Couric (journalist, Yahoo Global News Anchor & executive producer of the documentary “Under The Gun”) 5/25: Corey Pegues (author – promoting book “Once a Cop: The Street, the Law, Two Worlds, One Man”) 5/26: TBD Weeks of 5/30 & 6/6: DARK!

  16. My husband suggested that they should have done the category "colors that rhyme with 'purple'." Back when Michael Steele was GOP chair, "The Daily Show" used to feature a regular segment in which Jon Stewart would interview Steele in Muppet form. I'm pretty sure Muppet Michael Steele would have done better than the real thing. As for Anderson Cooper, he actually hosts a quiz show himself. CNN airs an occasional "CNN Quiz" program in which they pit hosts against each other. Maybe he's just used to having all the answers written on cards.
  17. Of all the Trump impersonators I've seen on TV (including Colbert's cartoon Trump), I think the one on "The Nightly Show," played by comic Bob DiBuono, is by far the best. His interactions with Larry never fail to crack me up. However, much as I like him, I sincerely hope he's out of a job come November.
  18. Great piece about Mike Yard. Had no idea of the tragedy in his background (his wife died suddenly after routine surgery).
  19. This may be the click-baitiest headline I've ever seen: “The Daily Show” is dead to me: Trevor Noah will never, ever be good at his job — also, thanks a lot for Donald Trump We no longer expect Noah to be Jon Stewart. But the show has gone edgeless and dull just when we need it the most Yes, Salon is actually (sorta) blaming Trevor Noah for Trump:
  20. I watched Thursday's "Daily Show" last night, about 24 hours after it originally aired, and I'm astonished about everything that happened in that relatively short time period: the revelations about Trump's racist butler, who called for Obama's murder; Trump allegedly serving as his own PR guy; and now the big NY Times article about Trump's treatment of women. Maybe he's Teflon because no story ever sticks around long enough for it to have an effect. There's always a new outrage around the corner.
  21. I wish they'd done a "follow the bouncing ball" type of captioning with Michelle Branch's song. (It didn't occur to me to try to turn on the close-captioning, but I think in this case, everyone would have benefited from seeing the lyrics.)
  22. 5/16: Anthony Anderson (actor – promoting ABC show “Black-ish”) 5/17: Dahlia Lithwick (Slate’s Supreme Court correspondent) 5/18: Jason Sudeikis (actor – promoting movie “The Angry Birds Movie”) 5/19: Arianna Huffington (Editor-in-Chief of The Huffington Post & author – promoting book “The Sleep Revolution”)
  23. Mo 5/9: Jake Hurwitz, Amir Blumenfeld, Kate Micucci Tu 5/10: James Adomian, Hari Kondabolu, Marc Maron We 5/11: Riki Lindhome, Rory Scovel, Jen Kirkman Th 5/12: Randy Sklar, Jason Sklar, Jon Dore Mo 5/16: Cedric the Entertainer, Sinbad, Moshe Kasher Tu 5/17: Maria Bamford, Greg Behrendt We 5/18: Kurt Braunohler, Emily Heller Th 5/19: Dan Soder
  24. If Jon wants to make jokes about the election, he has the opportunity to do so, according to this article:
  25. Jon reemerged briefly: Jon Stewart Mocks Donald Trump at USO 75th Birthday Event
