  2. Props to my husband, who thought the Emory story sounded like bullshit and Googled it while we were watching. Sure enough, here it is on snopes.com.
  3. 4. Different guy. TNS's Trump impersonator is named Bob DiBuono. There's yet another "Trump," John Di Domenico, who has appeared on other shows, including "Conan."
  5. The Graham interview & pool segment reminded me of Colbert's old "Better Know a District" bits where the politicians would let down their guard a bit and do something silly. Maybe my expectations are low, but I'm always happy when a sitting pol is something other than a wind-up talking-points-reciting machine.
  6. "Bernie" (well, Adomian-as-Bernie) appeared in character as a contestant a couple of months ago. I guess they figured it worked well enough to invite him back to do a whole show with "Trump."
  7. Since she's now part of the Nerdist Network, I suspect Scientology jokes are now off-limits, and especially when she's on the program. I agree, it was a horrible episode. Last night's was pretty good, though Dave Hill annoys me. Aimee's six second song was great.
  8. 3/23: Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Ah do declare!!!
  9. Next week's guests include Scott Aukerman (Monday, March 21); Jenn McAllister (Tuesday, March 22); Anthony Hamilton (Wednesday, March 23); Neal Brennan (Thursday, March 24).
  10. I believe Chris said it cost $200 to make a "batch" of smoothies, not a single smoothie. (I had read the article about it yesterday, so I was listening to see if he'd make the mistake of calling it a $200 smoothie.)
  11. 3/21: Shaka Senghor (author – promoting book “Writing My Wrongs”) 3/22: Taavi Rõivas (Prime Minister of Estonia) 3/23: TBA 3/24: Ethan Hawke (actor – promoting movie “Born to be Blue”) Week of 3/28: DARK!
  12. Andy Richter was hilarious! I hope he becomes a regular (Conan's in repeats this week, so I guess that's why he had some spare time). All in all, I thought Tuesday's show was miles better than Monday's. I laughed throughout.
  13. Dash seems to be trying to say as many outrageous things as possible, a la Ann Coulter (in other words, mainly to help promote her book sales -- yes, she's written a book). I suspect the issue that really got her on Wilmore's radar was her call for the end of black history month.
  14. Here's a recap of her "View" interview. It says "she declined severance pay in exchange for the legal right to speak publicly against the network." So maybe she'll show up on TDS later on... I hope so.
  15. Very disappointing news. Just got an update from CC and MHP has been replaced as tonight's guest with Van Jones.
  16. I think it's "Maenad," which "have been depicted in art as erratic and frenzied women enveloped in a drunken rapture," according to Wikipedia. Maybe Sam has a writer who was a classics major?
  17. I thought it was so exciting that Trevor had the first big interview with MHP, but now "The View" has been touting Monday morning's show as her "first television interview since leaving the cable network." I'm sure Trevor's will be better, but I'm a little sad for his sake that he didn't manage to score an exclusive!
  18. All the trademarking business, as well as Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption, make me SO happy John is around -- this is sort of akin to the things Stephen Colbert used to do on "The Colbert Report" (like his Super PAC stunt, running for president in SC, etc.) before he neutered himself to interview celebs on CBS. Thank goodness John & his staff are inserting themselves into the "real world" much like Stephen used to do. It can often be the best way to make a point.
  19. ONE single fight last night! They really rushed through that bit. Boo.
  20. Monday, March 14 John Oliver; World #1 Golfer Jordan Spieth; musical performance by New Order Tuesday, March 15 Steve Martin & Edie Brickell; Shirley MacLaine; interview with Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Gustavo Dudamel and performance with orchestra Wednesday, March 16 Theo James; Actor Jussie Smollett; Performance artist Laurie Anderson Thursday, March 17 William H. Macy; Melissa Rauch from the CBS comedy series “The Big Bang Theory”; Isaac Mizrahi Friday, March 18 Helen Mirren; J.J. Abrams; musical performance by DMA’S (OAD: 3/8/16) Monday, March 21 Chelsea Handler; Zosia Mamet; musical performance by The Lumineers (OAD: 2/19/16) Tuesday, March 22 Ben Stiller; Senator Bernie Sanders; performance by Drum TAO (OAD: 2/10/16) Wednesday, March 23 Will Arnett; Charles Barkley; Max Greenfield (OAD: 3/7/16) Thursday, March 24 Olivia Munn; T.J. Miller; musical performance by Father John Misty (OAD: 1/14/16) Friday, March 25 Chrissy Teigen; Comedian Mike Birbiglia; Adam Savage of “MythBusters” (OAD: 3/1/16)
  21. I was wondering the same thing. My mom (in Michigan) voted for Kasich instead of Hillary because she wanted to cast an anti-Trump vote. Trump Wine is his son's business, I guess. Kind of funny that Trump was pushing vodka, since he's a lifelong teetotaler.
  22. Next week: Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Monday, March 14); Jussie Smollett (Tuesday, March 15); Charlamagne Tha God (Wednesday, March 16); Joanna Coles (Thursday, March 17).
  23. There's a lot more to the Hart story than most people know -- here's an interesting article on the whole "Monkey Business" incident. Not sure why I watched the whole Sacha Baron Cohen interview, but hoo boy, that movie looks awful. I guess I'm glad for Trevor that he got to meet one of his heroes.
  24. The NY Times just ran an interesting article about how much his fellow Senators hate him. Last night's Trump "victory" speech should give the show plenty of fodder for tonight.
