I'm enjoying the show so far. It hasn't quite grabbed me the way Supernatural did but, I don't think anything will ever be able to match the insane chemistry Jensen and Jared had from the jump. I do like the characters and the show seems to be finding its momentum more and more with each episode. What is killing it for me is all the blasted ads. I'm watching on CW streaming the day after and there are a ridiculous number of ads. Am I misremembering or, didn't they used to stream without commercials? I think this show would really benefit from uninterrupted viewing to help keep the episode's momentum going. It's hard to have any sort of build up when you have maybe 10 minute snippets of show and what feels like 20 minutes worth of ads. It almost feels like more ads than program.

So the kids' names are Carrie and Ford....... I see what you did there.

Shut. Up. Mary. I think that pretty well sums it up for me.

So I spotted another fun little detail in the bar scenes, along with the squirrel and the license plate, that I don't think anyone has mentioned. The heart carved into the bar reads "Daphne loves Fred". :)

Supernatural Bitterness & Unpopular Opinions: You All Suck
enaiowen replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
This is exactly my concern about any Dean/Michael storyline. It's not something I've ever really wanted to begin with so if I do have to be subjected to it AND they screw things up in process, it will be a *double* whammy for me and I will not be a happy camper. At all. -
I presume to help keep track of each other in the dark. Especially if they loose their light source. (I'm reminded of the passage through the Lincoln Tunnel in "The Stand" *shudder*.) And if you have to shoot something under those conditions you're going to want to take precautions to make sure you don't accidentally hit one of your own.

They've done it here for Houston Con too.

I'm still no fan of the idea of Michael!Dean. I was glad that it didn't happen in Season 5 and I have very little faith in the current writers to be able to deliver a.) something that doesn't destroy Dean's character and b.) something that will live up to the near mythic proportions that the possibility has been built into. And while it might turn out to be the most incredible, amazing thing ever (which, despite not being something I particularly want, I would be thrilled if that were the case)........ I am afraid that, as a very wise someone once said: "you (the general you) may find that 'having' is not so pleasing a thing after all as 'wanting.'

Agreed. Supernatural is the only show I watch aside from the occasional British detective series. It's not that I haven't tried other programs but I tend to find them (including all those critical and ratings darlings) to be terribly overwrought and far more derivitave and repetive than Supernatural ever dreamed of being. Beyond that, the biggest thing that sets the show apart for me is that in all of those critically acclaimed, award winning shows, I have not found another actor or actress who makes me forget they are simply reading lines written for them by someone else. No matter how well acted or how good the writing, I see just that. An actor playing a part. Tried "This is Us". Not bad but nothing about it made me want to go out of my way to watch it. I watched an episode of GoT and hated it. Couldn't even finish it. The only one of those shows I have watched and enjoyed was "Stranger Things" although I thought the first season was better and am not invested at all in whether or not there is a third. As with anything else, MV.

This should probably go in the Unpopular Opinions Thread but I really *really* hope you're wrong.

I mostly agree with this. My problem with Mary has been and continues to be the fact that there are no layers. Despite the boys' flaws, there is an inherent goodness and depth to them that I find lacking in Mary thus far. I want to like the character and I get why she is the way she is right now but I need to see that there is more to her that what we have been shown up to now. A little warmth and vulnerability would go a long way IMO. I realize they want to present her as this strong, capable hunter (whether or not they are doing that well is another topic) but I don't see why one has to preclude the other.

Not this Dean girl. -
That skull didn't really look like a dinosaur skull to me anyway.

Unpopular opinion time: I remember being so excited about the mini series when I heard about it. I had read the book several times and it's my second favorite King novel after The Stand. It started off well but that's about all I can say. I loathed it. Honestly, loathed it. And (sacrilege I know) the primary reason for that was Tim Curry's portrayal. I hated the costume and the makeup and even more, I hated his voice and his manner of speaking. Most of the time he just came across as a dirty old man. The rest of the time he was so OTT campy that I just found him ridiculous rather than frightening. I found the new version to be far closer to the picture in my head. Just, off and wrong and deeply disturbing. I am well aware that I am in the minority and miles vary.

Well that's interesting. I was just reading a script that I was considering for our theater and it was bugging me because the playwright's name sounded so familiar but I couldn't place it. It was Steve Yockey. It was a well written, melancholy, yet creepy little story with some definite supernatural elements to it-although a bit too avant-garde for our audience. As to the spoilers, they make sense to me so far and I'm good with most of them. But like most of you, I just do not get the Lucifer obsession. Now, if we could have the Lucifer who was talking to Dagon, I might be interested, at least for an episode or two. He was pretty menacing there. But Daddy!Lucifer? No. Just no.
