I know I'm a bit late to the table on this, but when did Bin start listening to Christian Rap music? The Duggars said that they didn't listen to anything that would cause "dancing" because it may invoke "feelings that cannot be righteously fulfilled"....soooo, since Bin is married, he's allowed to listen to rap? Is that how it works? Do they turn off the music when the kids come over? Does Sturgeon get to listen? I'm absolutely floored by this because the Duggars were anti-music of any kind (except old timey blood songs and etc.)

S01.E01: Jill and Jessa Counting On: A New Chapter

I believe Derick told the surgeon "make me look exactly like Lloyd Christmas".. -
The Slate review was on point. I used to love Nev...now I realize he's always been a jerk. The book turned me off--big time.

I liked this episode because I come from the time of true "chatting" and not the whole "random Facebook hookup". I knew Kelsey was a guy from the very beginning. I don't know HOW, but the whole "body dysmorphic disorder" thing tipped me off. What a PERFECT excuse not to video chat....but someone with the disorder wouldn't be sharing bikini photos (you're not THAT clever, Kelsey!) Yes and if you listened closely, "Kelsey" said that he felt he made "good" money. That's 300 bucks a WEEK. Define "GOOD"? I thought John was genuine. I know chat culture and as difficult it may be to understand, there are some really deep, smart people who chat and get very emotionally involved with each other. OH---and as for John being in "IT" for 10 years and being 27 years old. Yeah....don't know who gets into "IT" at 17, but I think he was probably working at Geek Squad. Chatting on Skype? My guess is that he's doesn't have the ability to check out anyone beyond what he did (entering the photos into TinEye or whatever site he used)....

That link above (detailing the lavish $6,000 bday party) left me wondering for the millionth time WHY Tori has that weird semi-circular space between her boobs. It's so weird. I've been absolutely horrified/amazed by that since she was on 90201. I don't want to defend Tori (she's truly a piece of work) but two things stand out to me: Regarding the birthday party for Stella---chances are the Spa comped most of the services for free publicity. She does post all the photos on her blog..... When it came to her bitching that Dean didn't allow her to grieve for her father, I found that truly SUSPICIOUS. Dean knew the old guy was on his last legs and he saw dollar signs. "Making it all about him" was his way of laying the evidence so it appeared that he was SO UPSET that he didn't get to know Aaron Spelling BETTER. If anyone suggested he was a big gold digger, Tori would hopefully say "OH NO, he was SO upset he didn't get to know dear old DAD better"..(PUH-LEEZE!) Instead of Tori seeing that for what it was, she recognized it as him not allowing her to grieve. Wow....could she be MORE stupid? I would have sniffed that out and dumped has ratty ass, pronto. My take on the entire marriage: Dean thought he was coming into BIG ASS money and married his "soulmate" (barf). When the money didn't happen, he coasted through the marriage (doing all those stupid things like racing, etc.), she realized he wasn't that "into" her and had four kids to seal the deal. He eventually needed some strange and figured that he wouldn't get caught (since it was Canada and all) ....I suspect he's probably been cheating the entire marriage....the four kids keep him with her.... Tori crying about her book being number one on the NY Times Bestseller list made me laugh....that wouldn't have affected Dean--his first wife carried him, too. I didn't even know who he was, until it was reported he was the husband of Mary Jo Eustace. I mean, he was a two-bit nothing that no one in Canada (and certainly not in the US) would have recognized walking down the street before he met Tori. He's always aligned himself with wives that he thought would help advance his career. Mr. and Mrs. Douche McDermott...

There were NO hard questions during this episode. Here's a question: If Tori and Dean cheating on their respective spouses was excusable because they were "in love" and "soulmates", then doesn't it stand to reason that Dean having a two night affair and coming back to Tori just sex and doesn't warrant all this drama? I think the logic is solid--if he didn't fall in love with Emily Goodhand and she's not his soulmate, then no harm, no foul...right?

My husband (who hates this show) heard that comment and very dryly mentioned that "the jokes write themselves on this show"...which made me LOL..... Something else that made my husband guffaw: after Derick asked JimBob for Jill's hand in marriage, he said he felt "a release"...which my husband thought was absolutely priceless.

Geez..you could be right about that! The thought of Andrew being the father didn't occur to me....wow.

I find it amazing that the show basically had to bow down to the internet sleuths who discovered that Rebecca's first child belonged to Abe. Amazing that they're just casually throwing it out there NOW, but back in New York, Rebecca "seemed like a nice girl" to Abe and they hadn't really met before.....ROIGHT.

I really hope Jill has one or two children and then resumes her career. Many of us assume that ALL the Duggar girls will be blessed with excellent fertility, but that doesn't always happen. For all we know, Derick has fertility issues. Not that I would wish that upon them, but I don't think 20+ children is going to be the norm for all of them. Once out of the watchful eye of Jim Bob and Michelle, Jill may blossom. If Derick encourages her to pursue her career, I think that would be great for her.

There's definitely a method when it comes to who is Chopped: 1. Round one, they ask WHY they're competing---the person they ask is usually Chopped, regardless of their sob story. 2. Round two, the person who comments on the dishes of another and says "whew, I won't be Chopped" is almost always chopped. 3. Round three, always a toss up because it's not about the dish, it's about the entire round. I laughed out loud at the female chef who said (paraphrased) "They can't put anything in that basket that I haven't seen before"....and then tried to break the 100 year old egg and fry it. I'm no chef, but I knew the 100 year old egg wouldn't be liquid.

I was spellbound by Michelle using the term "catch a baby". I guess after you've had 21 pregancies, getting preggers MUST feel as easy as catching a cold!

Someone may have helped decorate that house. The rooms are small and all the beds are on an angle---that's a typical decorator move...not something I would have expected from Erin Bates. That ultra-pink bed is really small...geez..I'm sure David Waller wouldn't have had an issue with the pink decor!
-
I just checked out the Bates' site and noticed that their daughter, Alyssa is also getting married in May. I noticed that the site mentioned "Light dessert Reception" to follow. In my mind, I picture everyone having a slice of wedding cake. NOW, having said that (and maybe I'm wrong here) why the heck do they have three separate wedding registries? I wouldn't expect anyone to bring a gift to a reception that is nothing but cake and coffee...am I wrong?
