  1. I would not have batted an eye if a kid screamed at this Kohl's Santa. And yes, poor Ralphie. I have not watched that movie in years !
  2. Some RL Santa's have given me the creeps. The Kohl's department store here had one that just sat there staring ahead when there were no kids around. You'd think he'd at least act alive.
  3. Well, I'm a Christian, and my Savior is a Jew, so I'm not sure what Christians you've been around who don't acknowledge Jews. Or atheists. Or Muslims. I think the problem is simply again...people slapping the name "Christian" on something without really understanding what it means. But yeah, I'm bowing out now of the discussion, because I really don't see the point for me to continue and honestly, I don't have the time to waste today. Everyone have a good day.
  4. If a true social injustice was being done, speak up. There was no social injustice. If you have a problem with Hallmark running the ad, don't watch. If you have a problem with Hallmark removing the ad, don't watch. Problem solved without either side acting morally superior.
  5. Banning something is totally a form of passive aggressive bullying. "I'm going to withhold something from you (my money or sponsorship) to get you to do what I want". That is bullying. Again, agree to disagree.
  6. People tweeting "Ban Hallmark" is a form of bullying to passively aggressively get what you want.People calling them names is a form of bullying. Ellen DeGeneres getting on Social media and saying Hallmark "owes an explanation" is a form of shaming and bullying. Hallmark owes an explanation to her ? Really ? She owns the network, then ? I didn't know that. Hallmark should be allowed to air what they want, and anyone who doesn't like it, doesn't have to agree, and they don't have to watch. No matter what the material is. Removing the ad doesn't trample on anyone's rights. It isn't' a representative of diversity to remove it, but it doesn't impede on anyone's rights. Hallmark wasn't calling for the commerical to be eliminated from the entire world, nor was anyone that I know of, picketing that company over the commerical or anything else like that. It was a simple choice not to air it, that they then went back on, because they were bullied into not pulling it, just like they were bullied into pulling it. I will add, that I don't particularly consider Hallmark to be a Christian channel. I don't know why anyone would. Just airing movies and shows that aren't full of violence and four letter words doesn't make you Christian. Bullies on BOTH ends. I know it's a shocking thought. But I know it's a fact, over and over again, on many issues, because I've seen it, repeatedly. Agree to disagree. IDK anything about One Million Moms, but ultimately, it was Hallmark's decision to pull the ad. I hold them responsible, and them alone, for the first pulling, and then for going back on it. People on BOTH ends were harassing them, but they should not have let them affect their decisions.
  7. Except that race wasn't a part of the commericals, so there's no reason to even bring race up. Hallmark is mostly white people movies, true. But that's true of 99% of networks and shows. And yes it's true that any group who doesn't like the commercial, doesn't have to watch Hallmark, just like it would be true, if Hallmark chose to exclude the ads, that people who don't like that decision, wouldn't have to watch either. There are bullies on both sides, and that's a fact.
  8. I don't have a problem with Hallmark removing the ad, and I wish they would have stuck with the decision. It's far more disturbing to me that they now look wishy washy all because of a group that bullied them because they didn't like what they did. Bottom line, people have different morals. If you don't like what a channel does, turn it off. But they have equal rights to express those beliefs and shouldn't be bullied, and they don't owe anyone on the face of the earth, an explanation as to why they do what they do. Bullying someone on social media and spewing hate just because they don't agree with you, just makes YOU look like....a whiny bully throwing a fit because you didn't get your way. It ain't a great look. If your "morals" can bend just because someone on the opposite side has a hissy fit, they aren't very strong morals, are they ? I have gay friends, but I am a Christian, and they know where I stand. I love them to death and would do anything for them in a heartbeat if I could. I would die for them, if I ever had to for any reason. I am not a "homophobe", nor am I "bigoted" or a "hatemonger". But I'll never, ever apologize for how I believe. And I feel sorry for people who feel they have to. It's a shame. But back to the Hallmark channel quality, which should be the topic-their Christmas movies have been wash, rinse and repeat for years now. "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" with Henry Winkler and Brooke Burns, is one of the best Christmas movies they've ever done.
  9. Emotion can be in many forms, though. I don't think Xander choosing to be angry would be regression. If you're told you can't be around a sick baby you helped changed the diapers for, anger isn't an unreasonable response. Sure, it's immature to go hit something, but I'd rather see him hit something, than sit there and bawl. I don't think crying like that in front of Kayla was in character. Crying alone, maybe.
  10. No, Mickey just thought Michael was his son for years, and raised him as his own, and finding out the truth, that Mike wasn't his, devastated Mickey. The thing with Xander isn't the same, but I can see Maggie making that comparison, because it's two men loving a kid that isn't their flesh and blood. That, Xander and Mickey have in common. I don't like weepy Xander, and if this is what being with Sarah is going to do to him, end it now, please. I think he can be shady but have redeeming qualities, and as long as he gets hoisted by his own petard from time to time, I'm okay with that. That crying scene with Kayla was a no go, I cannot take another one like it. It doesn't feel in character. I think the Xander I remember, would still be upset, but would hide it, and would punch someone (or something ) rather than show that kind of emotion in front of someone. Although......I do remember him getting very upset back in the day, with how Victor would reject him. But even then, it was hurt and anger in equal measure, and that is how I see the character. He'd be devastated-but he'd go find someone to beat up to get it out. Not sob into a tissue. I loved, loved, loved Wally's performance today. Best part of the show.
  11. Well, it's not a great mark of a character, I guess. To hate the woman who gave birth to you and/or raised you. I think Sami and Marlena's strife started when Sami was a teen and walked in on her mom and John having sex, so Sami actually had a fairly good reason to have a hate on for Marlena. Her distaste for her mom was reasonable, considering the circumstances. But I think overall, soaps have always wanted their characters to grow beyond bratty teenage angst and forgive their mothers for their mistakes. More's the pity, because a JJ/Jennifer feud redux would be angsty entertainment.
  12. I forgot where they were. And yeah her being a DiMera, and "Stefano" being alive, yeah I guess JJ would be toast. I like JJ. Even bed head drug head JJ. I used to love his Jennifer hate when he was first SORAS'd. I miss those days, and I thought Ron was going back there and having JJ have a hate on for his mom again. Got too happy but I don't think it'll last.
  13. No. Columbo was smart, in fact, as one of the murderers said to him "I believe your IQ is probably quite high". Columbo was not only smart, he didn't let people know just how bright and observant he was. That ain't Abby. Now, she could be Columbo's long lost relative, "Dumbo". That'd fit.
  14. Thank you ! I love Greg Vaughn, and if he could just stand there and glower and not speak, I could watch that all day. LOL But no likey whiney Eric. Not a bit. I agree with everything else, and I am calling Gina/Hope "Hina" because why not ? I wanted her to shove Abby, too ! Who else was screaming "DO. IT !" LOL Meeeee ! I was also wanting JJ to do it-meaning to shoot Kristen. When she had those crazy eyes, talking about rising from the ashes-not a court in the land would care if he would've shot her. Justifiable homicide, that. I will say, if RC is trying to do campy fun (and I think he is), it's wonderful. I just don't know how seriously you can take the less campy stuff on a show like this, though. But then, Days has always veered towards a parody of soaps at different periods. I enjoy it, as long as it doesn't get too crazy. I LIKE Chad like this, because I was always more a Chad/Gabi fan, and I think the scene yesterday was definitely played to show that there is still some attraction there between them. The meaner, more ruthless version of Chad is more interesting, and a good match for Gabi as she is now, I think. Plus I do think they reminded the audience of Kate/Gabi disliking each other, for a reason. Not sure if that means a revisit of Chad/Gabi, but I wouldn't rule it out.
  15. As I said, I've missed a lot, but I can address this. Eric hasn't ever deliberately murdered anyone, but he has accidentally killed people. And quite frankly-if you deliberately, purposely get behind the wheel while you are impaired, and someone dies because of it, you are a murderer. And yes, it's just as bad as sitting around and plotting someone's death, because in your sober moments, you fully know what driving drunk or high can do. And then you make a sober moment decision to do it anyway. You are just as culpable as someone who planned it out, because you planned to take those drugs or drink that booze and then drive. So no, I don't see a difference between someone who has so little value for human life, that he kills someone for love or money or revenge, and someone who has so little value for human life, that he goes out and does something that he knows beforehand could harm a complete stranger (which is, in a way, worse, because at least someone who is killing for revenge, is only out to hurt those who hurt them-not a pass, just an explanation). I have no blinders on when it comes to anyone Eric ever comes up against. Eric is a judgemental douche, but he always has reasons for disliking those he dislikes. Valid reasons. And good points, if they were delivered by someone like the late Alice Horton. But here's my thing-Eric Brady should wake up every morning and kiss the ground, and thank God for the freedom he doesn't deserve. And yet....Eric Brady continues to be an entitled, self absorbed, jerk. Who truly does act as if he is...above every other person in town. I blame the writing, the acting, the character in general, because he was like this with Jensen, too. Maybe even worse with him, I cannot remember, honestly. I want to like Eric and be on his side. But then....he opens his mouth, and passes judgement, and points his fingers. And I'm done. And again...it's not even because he's "wrong". He's totally NOT wrong for not wanting Zander around that baby. But they just always have to have him act so high and mighty. Why ? I'll never understand it. You can stand for good, and want good, and BE good, but not be obnoxious about it. Eric has never gotten that memo. So I root for the people he's up against, because it's the only thing that feels sane.
  16. I haven't watched in so long, but heard about the time jump and that SN was playing "Stefano" (oh-kay), so I thought I'd check in. A few episodes isn't enough to really know all that's going on, so if I watch more, my opinions may change. BUT- Eric is still the most judgemental Salemite ever on record. He can mess up, and that's okay, but if other people do, pfft. He write them off. Some things never change. And I like Zander, but I don't l like Sarah, but I like their chemistry. I realized yesterday who Paul T reminds me of. It's like as if Ian Buchanan and Billy Zane were thrown into a blender. Both their looks, mannerisms, and charm. Zander needs to stay semi bad. You can't waste that on a "reformed" good guy. But he could be an awesome anti hero.
  17. Yep. And I saw a pic with DC and CE standing beside each other in a promo. With all the DJ and CE "father and son" talk, to me...Daniel and Chris look far more related in terms of bone structure and coloring. Though I suppose DC isn't old enough to play CE's father, but they could pass as bio relatives of some sort.
  18. Well , at least I know now why it's not on regular TV. IMO if you can't tell a story without four letter words in every scene, you aren't a good storyteller and you don't have a good show. I gave it a try. It's just "politically correct" nonsense masquerading as a TV show. What I want to know is, why did he have to drag Rod Serling's name into it and ruin my happy memories of an actually GOOD TV show ? WOW. What a sad let down.
  19. I think cops have seen and continue to see (and have to also smell) far worse things than puke. I hate gross out humor. It's lowbrow, and it's really not funny. Toni Collette has *always* been hard looking IMO. But, I also think she's beautiful, in a very unusual way. She has an interesting, expressive face. I think the actress who played Walt's wife (IDK her name ?) is probably considered more conventionally attractive, but I think TC up against her would totally steal the attention. I forgot to mention that I did love the car chase line. And the guy was right, it was stupid.
  20. You could tell which ones in the theater were the Chris Evans fan girls because they laughed uproariously at the stupidest stuff he would say. I've always thought Don Johnson was funny, though I don't agree with the "perfect casting" of him with Chris Evans as his son. I don't see a physical or a mannerism resemblance. I mainly wanted to see this for Jamie Lee Curtis. She is a gem and always has been, and I nominate her for all of Meryl Streep's future roles. She isn't cast enough in stuff, because Hollywood is stupid. I hated the political aspects of it, and honestly I think everyone in the theater was suppressing a collective groan. I don't ever want to hear the terms "SJW" or "woke" ever again, especially not in a movie I'm paying to see. It was just okay to me. The cast/acting was really good. And I love mystery/suspense type movies. Hercule Poirot (David Suchet's version, Kenneth Branagh can have a seat) is one of my all time favorites as well as Sherlock Holmes and Columbo. I just felt it dragged. I think as I get older my patience actually gets shorter, so part of it is me-I want brevity more than I want a long, drawn out exposition. Get to the point, in other words, and this movie took far too long to get there. I did laugh out loud a few times, and it was a nice distraction. I think Daniel Craig's accent slipped/changed in noticeable moments and his shtick kind of got old the longer it went on. I will admit the donut hole speech was funny, and I wouldn't mind another movie with his character, if they flesh him out more. Anyone who has seen even one episode of Columbo knows that whoever the detective zeroes in on first (Marta) is his first suspect he is trying to eliminate. Of course he noticed the blood on the shoe ! I am glad for one thing- I went in unspoiled. It does make a lot of a difference in the enjoyment of a movie these days, when spoilers are *everywhere*. The rotten tomatoes rating is ridiculous, though. It's a solid 8/B+ (again, because of the cast), but no more.
  21. My thoughts as well ! LOL But he enjoyed life, something the main character wasn't doing, even though she got a second chance at life. It had a good message there, I guess. It's just a forgettable movie overall. I had to struggle just now to remember the main character's name. That's never a good sign. Not at all. I knew the twist going in, so I looked for signs, but had I not known, I would have been kind of surprised. There are little hints, like the fact that he is never seen talking to anyone else, but him bringing her to the apartment threw me off.
  22. I watched a clip with Brook and I think she's actually a blend of Lois and Tracy, more Lois honestly IMO from that little bit. I hated Lois. And while I like the looks of Adrienne Leon better (I think she favored JE, WK, and RS all in one form or another), I would be willing to give this actress a chance since
  23. Andy Dick on a personal level is a no for me, but he actually was funny opposite Zachary Levi. Sara Rue, I've only ever seen in this. I liked the character of Claude more than I liked Sara the actress. I still think the show was treated unfairly by the network, and I do wonder what went on backstage to end up causing it to be jerked around the way it was.
