  1. If you listen closely, you can hear it. IDK why they haven't just let him use his natural accent all along. And the most important event of the past week: JJ SHAVED his face and cut his hair ! (mind you I have been lapse in watching so I'm sure he shaved before now, but I am just now seeing it).
  2. The best part of today for me ? I could hear Paul Telfer's Scottish accent slip out for a second when he said to Ciara "that man loves you" (about Victor). I am a sucker for a Scottish accent. I even think Scrooge McDuck is hot, I am not picky. My ears perked up today, let me tell you. I've been up too long LOL I am going to bed ! Speaking of Ciara, girl you are more annoying than a GabiAbbyKristen sandwich.
  3. That slap was lame, though, and obviously fake. Would have been much better (and more understandable, actually ) if it would have been a punch instead. And I know he's done vile stuff, but I like Valentine. Or at least, I like to watch JPS play him. JPS has that same "yes I know he's done rotten stuff but I still feel for him" thing down pat that most of my favorite actors have. I can feel sorry for a character like that and enjoy watching them and even root for them to grow and still hiss at them when they do wrong. Those kind are the ones that make me feel like I just didn't waste an hour of my life when I bother watching. I don't like the Nik actor, but I've never cared for Nik, so eh. I don't care what Valentine did to Ava. If she's breathing, Val failed me. And I'm still "meh" over CW as Nina. She's a bland actress IMO. Or maybe Nina's just a bland character. Apples, oranges. I do think Val will still end up a Cassadine. Mikkos had several relatives Helena could have had a ONS with.
  4. Oh, I was just speculating, knowing her the way most of us do. I don't think it was ever said onscreen that she did anything like that. But I think she WOULD be that cold. I've watched a lot of true crime and I've seen many stories of real life men and women who have done something similiar. Go shoot someone and then go see a movie or go have sex with their SO, or whatever else tickled their fancy. And Helena was so put together, it would be her style to "treat herself" after she got rid of a rival. A shopping trip or a light lunch or maybe a session with a masseuse. A reward for a job well done, would be her thinking.
  5. In regards to Mikkos and Helena. Maybe "scared" isn't the right word, but I can see even the mighty Mikkos sleeping with one eye open, once it was clear that Helena really had no boundaries. Of course, he didn't either-but his murderous intent and hers, were on different levels. His insanity was more grandiose-i.e. freezing the world. He was a cartoon villain. Helena, if she were real, would actually be a much scarier person, because she's the type that would keep the dagger well hidden until she was close enough to strike. Helena and Mikkos in a nutshell: if you know the person lying next to you is capable of killing to get rid of someone, how comfortable are you ever going to actually be in that relationship ? Knowing that when they get tired of you, you might be next ? Once Mikkos realized Helena could slit someone's throat in front of that person's child and then go do brunch and have her roots touched up, I don't doubt for a minute that he may have feared her. And she him, as well.
  6. Thank you. It's just one of those niggling things that you get when something feels familiar, but you are not sure why ? I have not seen either of those movies, so it can't be those that I am bringing to mind. I did want to also mention that I think the acting has been pretty impressive throughout, especially with Pemberton. He (and Shearsmith to a slightly lesser extent) is so versatile.
  7. I love this show ! I discovered it through Brit Box and I am addicted. You Tube gave me the prior series that I have missed out on. For anyone not familiar with it, it is a British panel game show where one team has to guess if the other team is lying about a story they tell. Rob Brydon, David Mitchell and Lee Mack have wonderful chemistry together. I have never laughed so hard at some of the things they say. Bob Mortimer is a frequent guest who is especially funny, as well as Rhod Gilbert. I am glad it is one idea that America hasn't tried to borrow and remake. It is perfect the way it is. Any other fans here ?
  8. Eh, IDK. I think Tracy is awesome, but if I were a family member of hers, I'd be side eyeing her after being away for years with no visits and barely a peep. Last time I checked though, Michael admired her and even sort of liked her. She was there for him a lot the last time around. I liked that relationship. Oh well. Can't like anything on this show, or talk about liking it, because TPTB will find out and kill it with fire.
  9. So I finally watched the show on Brit Box and I like it, for the most part. I do think for some of the shows, the writers had no idea other than their "twist" or surprise, and those shows are therefore mainly made up of people arguing. Those may be my least favorite ones LOL. I don't know if I have one favorite. I think the one with the homeless guy was a good twist at the end. There are some inconsistencies. Like in the one with the private viewing of the art show, the killer should have had blood all over them after killing the blind lady, because that was an up close and personal job. It's not my thing, if I'm being honest. I don't like horror at all, though only about five out of 25 shows could be considered true "horror" IMO. Those, along with the ones with the endless arguing that seems to be filler, mean I only really enjoyed maybe ten out of the twenty five ? Still, those ten were very well done. I do have a question for others that has been nagging at me since watching. The "Riddle of the Sphinx" with the crossword solving and the puffer fish. Wasn't this an Alfred Hitchcock or a Twilight Zone, or Outer Limits, or some other show like that ? I mean, I sat there thinking the whole time, "I've seen this before". Right down to the poisoning and the switched glasses and the man being made to do the crossword puzzle. It just seems so familiar. Anyone else remember a very similar story from another show ?
  10. I do remember those days, they were nice. I do think social media and the internet in general tries to drown out any voices except those that line up with their own. I really don't care though, because I'm going to express my opinion and say what I believe and how I feel. It may not make me "popular," but popularity is overrated. Back on topic I've read that some are sick of Lacey Chabert being in so many Hallmark movies, but I do love "Inn Love". It's silly and sweet and corny and unrealistic and all around sappy. But it has Ed Asner in it and it is charming in it's own way. Win/win.
  11. There are no small victories. I do find it odd that at least LW wasn't in the episode, since Carly and Finn were friends when he first came to town. And I think LW would have been lovely as one of the ghosts.
  12. I've watched that one several times and did not know that was Colin Firth's brother. He was great, very creepy. Why isn't he in more stuff ? Does anyone know if season 21 (yes, I've watched them ALL, thanks to Acorn and Britbox) will only have 4 episodes ? Whoops okay, should have seen this first. I wonder why ? Oh well. 😞 Does anyone remember "Garden Of Death" with Victoria Hamilton ? I've never actually watched anything else she's been in (not even The Crown), but she was awesome in that episode. And ND plays a different character, the gardener. I think it's one of my favorite episodes, but it is very dark. Two different characters commit matricide. Disturbing, but the performances are worth it.
  13. LOL well, I find Finn to be the most tolerable out of the (three ? four ? five ? IDEK) characters he's played on GH. It really rankled me honestly, that Steve Burton said something about bringing John McBain back. Yeah, because McBain and Jason interacted, so it's really all about Steve wanting more to do. Sit down, Burton. Finn actually at least has some kind of personality. I never got anything but chronic constipation from either Silas or McBain. And the biggest reason for him to remain as Finn ? They'll likely never pair him with Sam McCall. THAT, my friends, is what is known as the icing on the cake.
  14. Finn is another example of a character who is fine without a pairing, IMO. If they had to pair him up, I will never understand the Fanna pairing. They both look bored. I'd rather a Hayden/Finn/Liz triangle, if you had to involve him in any kind of romance, if I'm being honest. That's IT. ITA. There's nothing forced about it. I understand why they are friends and how they got that way and why they remain friends. And the chemistry is natural. The two actors adore each other offscreen, or it's the best acting Easton has ever done.
  15. I think he did a decent acting job as Scrooge, myself. I also thought the period costumes looked good, I wonder if it set them back too much on their budget ?
  16. IDK. Even though I can't say I dislike someone like Kayla for instance, I'm hard pressed to call her (as an example) a complex character, and she's been a solid presence off and on since the early/mid eighties. Steve, much more so in terms of complexities. But that could be another issue of why so many stories are focused on pairings, and why so many of them flounder. There is always a gap, IMO-in how complex and interesting one part of the pairing is, as compared to the other. And when one half leaves, especially if the actor leaving played the more interesting character...(again, as in Steve and Kayla), then you've basically got a performer that the writers don't know what to do with. I think one of the biggest reasons Days had hit couple after hit couple in the 80s and 90s, was because it was the era of the Super Couple. People were even calling April Ramirez and Mike Horton a super couple. And they weren't. Neither were Billie and Bo. But then, I hate tagging a couple with that albatross of a label, "super couple". The point being, it was a craze, a fad. If a couple had fervent fans, those fans called their couple a "super" one. Even if they were in reality, anything but (people even shipped Nick Corelli and Eve Donavan. I mean ! ) And that made Days far more about couplings than anything else, and I'm not sure it's ever fully recovered from that. Kind of how many viewers mistakenly tabbed GH as "being all about the mob" just because of Frank Smith. And it too, has never fully recovered from that, to this day. I will say, I think the writing overall, on DOOL (and GH) from what I've seen recently, is more about quick resolutions and quick hook ups and sudden inexplicable love. The "Slow burn" is gone, and that is a shame. Truly multi layered characters are few and far between. But IMO really good, layered characters have always been rare. I do think most soap characters are interchangeable. I can't be the only one who, in the midst of a story, thinks, "wait, didn't they just do this same story last year with this couple, or this same story on another show ?" I think that's why our Victor Newmans and Stefano DiMeras and Erica Kanes stand out-because they are truly complex examples. They are the exception, not the rule, and this has always been the case. It's why they have maintained popularity for literally decades. Because the viewers know that these types of characters SHOULD be the norm, but they are not.
  17. They do have much the same coloring and bone structure, I never thought about it. I always thought SP was hot in his "solo" days. More so than his Journey years, IDK why. Jane Elliot is beautiful; Tracy and Finn will apparently always make me smile. Shut up, Anna. The kid-what's her name.....Petunia ? J/K I know it's Violet. Was she lisping ? UGH The only kid that did it that I could stand, was Ron Howard in "The Music Man". I didn't hate the show but didn't love it. I hope JE's return is blink and you miss her brief. I am happy for the actors if they are going to revamp the Qs, but it's a case of too little, too late for me. ETA I don't think ME has been nominated for playing Finn ? I thought his last nom was for Silas ? But I wouldn't know for sure, I haven't kept track of awards like that in years. (I actually remember more Tony noms in the past five years than anything movies or TV). Either way, I'll take ME over SBu, KMo, MB, and several others on this show. At least with ME, I feel an earnestness and a care that I have never gotten from those three. I think MB used to care, but SBu and KMo ? Nah, I've always gotten the "this is just a paycheck" vibe from them. Which is why their popularities separately and together have always taken me aback. I'll never understand it.
  18. In fairness, Days has always been couple obsessed, far more so than most of the other soaps. They've always kinda been about pairings and the stories of those romances. Which can be good, at least they care about the romance part of daytime, while some shows never cared enough. But they've never really given any characters stories that didn't somehow tie back in, to whoever they were with, or wanted to be with. Even now, even if I agree that Brady and Kate are two that flounder in pairings but get airtime...I don't think Kate has has a SL that was truly about her as a woman without a man, just dealing with issues and life...in years, if ever. The last one that comes to mind was her revelations about her past as a prostitute, and I think Deborah Adair played most of that, that's how long ago that was. LK isn't given much to do and hasn't been given much in terms of meaty scenes, in years. But I could be forgetting some other plot point Kate was given? Didn't she have cancer for about five minutes, or something ? Otherwise it's been her in a romance, or meddling in the lives of her children. Not exactly great material. Same with Brady. Eric M gets good scenes with GV in the brotherly angst stuff, but he hasn't had a true storyline about himself since the height of the addiction SL. Gabi, eh. Gabi is young and pretty and I think the show thinks they just have to strut her around and we'll forget she's not doing much. I like her better than Abby, but I think she's kind of one note and irritating most of the time. I'm supposed to see her as some great schemer, but I have never truly bought it. Still, I see Gabi as a better match for Chad than Abs, though.
  19. I don't understand why they invested more in Abby. Sure, Chabby is a popular pairing, or used to be. And I daresay JJ never really had that. True enough also, that after several years on this show, you aren't going to get much, story line wise, if your pairings don't take off. I see JJ as a unique character, in the sense that he doesn't need to always be in a pairing, to be a viable choice for a storyline. I see Brady the same way-they have solid non romantic connections and interests, and it should be easy to think of ideas for them. Jack and Jennifer's baby boy deserves far more attention and respect ! Just as John and Isabella's son should be a major force and driving storylines.
  20. Casey Moss is awesome and I love JJ. It's a travesty, because I honestly think the show has always had a "meh" investment in him.
  21. You had me at "doesn't require chilling". I'm going to try it this weekend ! 🙂 Thank you !
  22. I've never cooked game hens, sorry ! I need a fool proof (or almost fool proof) roll out sugar cookie recipe.
