  1. I think that's part of why black cat day is Oct 27, just ahead of Halloween. My Echo was a black cat, and she was the most friendly cat I've ever had. Breaks my heart to think of - luckily she never had a Halloween on the streets, before being rescued.
  2. 4/5* So close. I just missed Friday. A perfect week still eludes me.
  3. Well, thanks to Hamilton, I said Jefferson - not remembering the exact year he came home, only that he was in France and the vague timeline would have matched. Although, he could have started in 1779 and still come back in 1789? I doubt I would have thought of Franklin in time; I completely forgot he was ambassador to France.
  4. I had not consciously made that connection, but now that you have pointed it out, I think my subconscious was all over it, and it is really colouring how I feel about QL now. I somehow feel like rooting for Ben/Addison, when I have never felt that way before and the rationale part of me doesn't think they should be endgame. I think it's probably emotional bleed-over from Alias. They also slipped in that Tom is a widower. I feel like that is set up for later on when he tells Addison how if his wife was suddenly back, he's not sure what he would do/might go back to her, and he understands if Addison wants to go back to Ben (that is purely spec on my part). I think it'll either be that, or Tom will be evil, thus clearing the way for Ben and Addison to get back together.
  5. Well, I instantly knew it was the Kennedys, but I thought they wanted to know which Kennedy. I ultimately settled on Jean and then realized all they wanted was the family *sigh*. For yesterday, I got Columbus, but only after the first incorrect response was revealed. I was a bit slow, I guess, but I hope it still counts. So far this week I am 4/4 for Final Jeopardy. It all rests on tomorrow, will I get my very first 5/5? It's probably going to be some ridiculous sports thing or something totally out of my wheelhouse.
  6. That's fantastic!!! Good for you ;)
  7. Always enjoy seeing Erica Gimpel. Last season I was fairly lukewarm towards Addison - I didn't mind her, but had no strong feelings. I am liking her more this season - she feels more relatable maybe? Or understandable where she is coming from and how conflicted she is. As I am liking Addison more, I am starting to really not like the storyline. I do feel for both her and Ben. It's just a bad situation all around. And I hate that none of their conversations are ever private - I couldn't imagine. As always, I feel we need more Ian. Was their girlfriend the same ex that we had met last season?
  8. I was actually reasonably familiar with Mira Sorvino and Adam Rodriguez - I feel like often I have no idea who the "celebrities" are. I also really liked Mira Sorvino's charity, as the thing I remember her most for was the Human Trafficking miniseries.
  9. I thought it sounded like Ikea furniture, so also guessed Sweden. He did a few years back. It was really controversial (yes it was for his lyrics) and I think he refused to accept it He refused to attend the ceremony and received the award in private. All the hoopla surrounding it made him an instaget for me, although I didn't know he had won an Academy award and it took me a little while to clue in that it was probably for a song and that it was plausible. Otherwise singer-songwriter + Nobel = Bob Dylan for me.
  10. I do not have nearly enough American "common knowledge" to equate Lincoln-Mercury with Detroit. If you asked me what city Motown is associated with, I wouldn't have been able to tell you. Somehow, though, this question immediately reminded me of the infamous Barry/Berry debacle and from that I knew the answer was Motown. That clue, from 2020, reads: In 2019, at a 60th anniversary event in Detroit, this producer announced his retirement saying he had "come full circle". Tonight's clue: Before creating this record label in 1959, its founder worked on a Lincoln-Mercury assembly line The only link I can find there is that 2019 - 60 years = 1959. I had never heard of Berry Gordy before the 2020 clue (and tonight could only remember "Berry"). Anyways, it was somehow an instaget for me. No idea how that happened.
  11. It's Ginny's "birthday" today! She is two years old, and acts like she is two months old. Don't let the innocent pose fool you! She loooooves to play and follow her favourite big sister (Luna) around everywhere - bonus if she can get in some snuggles and treats. So, her birthday was perfect and spent doing all the things she loves most. I even put off vacuuming so she didn't need to hide from it ;) We started yet another new food because the anallergenic one is on backorder, so this one is the D/D food. I also started keeping it in the freezer in case storage mites are the issue. So, I'm not sure if it's the new food or the freezer storage, but Ginny's respiratory symptoms are so much better. Still has occasional sneezes but it's dramatically less. Still contending with the diarrhea caused by the azithromycin (tried both probiotics and metronidazole, neither had any impact).
  12. 3/5 for me - quite an improvement! Were there any *?
  13. I spent most of the think music debating Taj vs Mahal, but then the clue said the same word "follows" Jal and Lal. So from that, I figured it was probably the second word so that it can follow the first, assuming the language would have a similar grammatical structure and that, like in English, the word meaning "palace" would come second. Far from an instaget for me, given the above reasoning, but I got there just in the nick of time.
  14. I really liked that the Sheriff and the girl had similar piercing blue eyes. I thought it was good casting, and I noticed it before we knew that he was her grandfather. I don't know that the guy leasing out the land necessarily knew what the military was doing on it, but even if he had an inkling that they could be involved, he was probably motivated to find an alternate explanation so they would keep paying him for the use of the land. Once Ben exposed the military, the Sheriff forced them out. Presumably that means no more money being paid for the section of land they were leasing from the father.
  15. I was floored that they all missed feminism.
  16. Almost an instaget FJ for me tonight. I was confused about the other responses - how do you train aircraft? Why would hunters target aircraft?
  17. 0/5 this week. Really not doing so hot this season!
  18. I was expecting the sister to be in on the whole thing. I don't mind Addison, but I am annoyed at the idea this will become a love triangle. I really did feel for both her and Ben, but I really have no interest in a drawn out triangle. I am not really fussed about whether or not she ends up with Tom or Ben, I just want them to stick to someone. I also don't think this show is going to be particularly long-lived, and would hate to waste it on a love triangle. Then again, I have always been more interested in watching external conflict rather than internal conflict.
  19. I haven't had a good week this week. My automatic response to "who died in 2005" is Pope John Paul II. Then I had to go through the thought process of well, he isn't royalty, so he obviously isn't the answer here. And then I got no further than that.
  20. I was watching with a large group tonight (I usually watch alone), and we all took issue with crediting the Bangles with Hazy Shade of Winter also. For FJ, I first thought malaise -> malady, and then my father said 'nausea' and I knew he was correct. I cannot take the credit for the correct response, though.
  21. If it's the one I am thinking of, it's my absolute favourite. I couldn't come up with anybody for FJ, so even a bad guess is better than no guess at all?
