  1. There's no way that Marcus is sleeping on that bus (even if there were a bunk for him, he wouldn't fit.)
  2. Even more so. Kaya works for him. Elsbeth definitely doesn't. Which brings up the point of who is paying her? She can't be drawing much of a salary. And selling your NY apartment right after buying it would represent a huge loss in terms of fees. Being easily led astray by a friendly lawyer she was supposed to be reporting on should make it less likely Kaya gets promoted.
  3. So Mark, who soon won't have a dorm room will still be sleeping on the window sill? I was watching each time he stormed off to see where in the house he would go since he has no private spot.
  4. I thought it was more how upset she was that the Captain told her (again) that he wanted her out of the precinct. She was practically in tears. Yet, shortly after, she was watching witness interviews, which undercut him telling her that she wasn't working the case. This part of the storyline was choppy. I'm also surprised that no one mentioned Kaya talking back to the Captain: "What did you want her to do?" Not even a "Sir"!
  5. In light of that your username is rather ironic. There's plenty of vegan kimchi. This brand is even certified as kosher: https://www.clevelandkitchen.com/kimchi
  6. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/story/brandon-scott-jones-ghosts-cbs He’s speculating excitedly about the comedy royalty Ghosts might bring on to play Patience, a feral Puritan ghost introduced in season three’s finale who has a vendetta against Isaac: “Amy Sedaris, wouldn’t that be really cool? My God, Molly Shannon. Cheri Oteri! Ana Gasteyer!” -------------------------------- And he’s very happy to be a regular on a show that millions of people are actually watching, though like many industry insiders with a background in legit comedy—you know, the kind that has jokes—he’ll admit to being a bit bewildered about how dark most shows the TV Academy qualifies as “comedies” are. “I’m trying to answer this as diplomatically as possible,” he says. “I don’t know if it frustrates me so much as it just confounds me. I do love those shows. But if I put them on I don’t put them on to laugh. How about that?”
  7. Yes, that apartment seemed huge. Much bigger than when she had Game Night there.
  8. Mark should definitely finish his freshman year, and it's good that they established that U. Chicago will only hold his admission for a year (although I doubt they'd do that for a transfer student; gap years are generally for pre-frosh.) It makes sense, though that he's not taking another year of courses at SAD before transferring. Competitive schools generally won't let you transfer credits taken after you are supposed to start attending. If U Chicago wants Mark, then they want him to take future courses with the rigor of U Chicago, not that of SAD. He's also clearly past beginning computer science courses, and has probably also finished his basic prereqs.
  9. If Darlene quits her job, how can she cosign for Harris? And even if she doesn't, does the lessor care how little money she's making, or just that she has a good credit rating?
  10. I guess she knew what she was getting into, but I couldn't stop thinking of how she has 3 children, the most difficult of whom will probably not mature much in the future ("get into the shower; get dressed; get into the car"), who also sleeps with her once a year. Yup. I wonder how much she could really downsize, though. They had a 3-bedroom, 1 bathroom ranch. Unless she and Missy shared a bedroom, they needed 2 of them, and you'd need to have someplace for Sheldon to sleep when he came home (via free flights!). He couldn't have stayed on campus every single holiday and summer, and he wouldn't have been a visiting professor when he was just 14. Maybe the new house didn't have a garage? I'm not going to go back to BBT to see if I can tell. Or, maybe the house was in a less desirable part of town. I guess we are all assuming that George didn't have much in the way of life insurance?
  11. Then I guess they needed Darlene to be a martyr and Mark to be miserable. I'm a little surprised they also didn't have Mark talk about how easy his classes were/how he wasn't being challenged/how his classmates didn't take school seriously. THAT would have made it more poignant that he couldn't attend U of C.
  12. Yes, you can't have someone else (re)write your essays, sign your name, etc. But they'd never find out. (Unless the essays were amazing and his grades in writing-related classes were not, which would raise flags.)
  13. Yes to most of this, with these comments: 1) "I doubt it would accept anyone as a freshman who has attended any college at all.": Yes, Becky must have filled out a transfer application herself, since Mark had completed an application for freshman year. 2) "And an essay would likely be a requirement." Mark must have had his freshman application essays saved-U Chicago requires 2-but in order to transfer: The University of Chicago Supplement requires one extended essay of your choice from our list of several prompts and one short essay on why you would like to attend the University of Chicago as a transfer student. For this second essay, transfer students will be asked to answer the following prompt (in approximately 500 words): Please tell us why you are planning to leave (or have already left) your current college or university, and how the University of Chicago will satisfy your desire for a particular kind of learning, community, and future. Please address with some specificity your own wishes and how they relate to UChicago. https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/apply/transfer-applicants 3) ..."meaning that they will accept an application from someone at any time for the next semester and accept them as long as they meet the requirements": only if they have space for them. No competitive college can accept all qualified applicants, and as you said "Chicago U. is a very competitive school, almost as hard to get into (if not AS hard) as an ivy league school and only accepts a small percentage of transfer applicants so this whole thing is once again an instance of the writers creating a situation that doesn't bear any resemblance to the real world." So there's no way Becky could just submit Mark's original application. And Darlene would have needed to be involved with the financial aid application, which explains why there wasn't much (although there probably wouldn't have been any.) It's actually much easier now for low income students to get financial aid at the more competitive schools-the hard part is getting accepted. The most competitive schools generally have replaced loans with outright grants. "Beginning with the Class of 2023, the UChicago Empower initiative increased access to Chicago in a variety of ways. In addition to admissions policy enhancements, UChicago guarantees free tuition for families with incomes under $125,000* per year (with (typical assets). Families earning less than $60,000* per year (with typical assets) will have tuition, fees, and standard room and meals covered by financial aid." https://financialaid.uchicago.edu/undergraduate/#:~:text=In addition to admissions policy, meals covered by financial aid. In reality, Mark would have gone for free, or very close to it. What could Darlene have been making before she quit her job? And even if you added on Ben's income? Were they jointly making much over 60K? M Mark should have been applying to the most competitive schools (in addition to some safeties), many of whose applications would have been free for him. But they needed to keep him close to home in order to keep him on the show, so his college advisor apparently put no time into the kid who probably had a great shot at attending a competitive college. You and me both. Didn't she say she thought he would feel better about himself if he knew that he could have gotten in? Boy, was she wrong. She must have also changed Mark's email address to her own. And you probably have to electronically sign the application before submitting it. If so, she forged his electronic signature, too. I guess it depends on the current value of his house. If it's worth a lot more than the loan, business is business, and they can always foreclose. He could try for a reverse mortgage, which carries no monthly payments, but then the kids will be left with almost nothing as soon as he dies, as the house will be sold to repay the loan.
  14. I didn't realize it when she was in Suits until Wendell Pierce played her father, but it was a major topic of conversation before her marriage. The British press were horrible to her and wrote many racist things.
  15. I didn't recall that. So he eloped over the summer with another Abbott teacher, who has since switched to a different school. Janine hasn't been around much, but surely Jacob would have shared the gossip with Gregory, so the perils of dating a coworker would not have suddenly been a realization for him.
  16. Except his mariachi pants weren't up around his chest. But it was a funny visual. Unless Morton transferred to Abbot after the breakup. My point was that if they are still fighting over a relatively minor thing like the grill, they likely broke up fairly recently. But I suppose they could have broken up before the 1st season, 3 years ago, and then really dragged out the division of their property. It just doesn't seem realistic.
  17. Isn't there still a consent decree in place? Was it just a ruse to investigate the Captain? How does he have the authority to tell Elsbeth she needs to go? I know that not everyone has access to Peacock, but Poker Face solves the problem of the protagonist always figuring out who the guilty party is by giving her the super power of knowing when someone is lying. Not every person who lies is also a murderer, but her awareness of all the lies gets her to the solution of the crime. Although it certainly has moments of humor, Poker Face is much grittier than Elsbeth.
  18. Except that he really didn't care at all about his completely innocent victim. By the way, it's "Kaya", not "Kara".
  19. I think Connie's hope was that once Mary could stop worrying about their souls, she could go back to worrying about them. And maybe it would have worked if both of them had done it. I wonder if Mary ever reconnects with Missy during her upcoming HS years.
  20. Neither did the baby, but he "baptized" her, too.
  21. I think his point was that when they broke up, they were still working together and had to see each other every day. As a result, one of them had to switch to another school. Since they are still arguing over grill ownership, and Morton has been at Abbott for at least 3 years, this implies that his ex also worked at Abbott and recently transferred to another school. Therefore, all his coworkers should know her. I don't think the writers thought this through logically. Also, it's pretty obvious that if you work together and break up it's going to be awkward, at the very least. Janine and Gregory know this from when they shared that kiss in the greenery. Why is this news to them? And who cares if you have to report the relationship to HR? Why does Ava care at all? Is she afraid she's going to lose one of them if they break up? She herself said that they're not really part of the Abbott team. Why Janine would volunteer to compete in the monkey bar portion of the relay race when she had just demonstrated she couldn't do it by herself was mystifying. She should have done the tricycle portion. Parts of this episode were just annoying. The Mr. Johnson parts were funny. And Ava's secretary must think that Ava never uses the bathroom.
  22. Preceded by Janine's hysterical line (paraphrased) asking if the little bird named Gregory that had told Jacob something was an actual bird.
  23. So many things wrong with this episode. College applications require documents besides the actual application. Transcripts, for instance. How did Becky obtain Mark's official transcript from his first semester at SAD? How did she fill out his financial aid application? Because if one had been submitted, I'm practically sure Mark would be going for free, not for 50k a year. U Chicago provides 100% of demonstrated need, and the Conners need a lot. I chuckled when Mark said it might take him more than a year to earn the money to attend U. Chicago.
  24. Not that it matters anymore, but it seems that Nell writes an obituary every other day at most. We've never seen her have more than one at a time. It would make more sense to pay her by the piece. Asking for a raise is pretty nervy.
  25. Gripes: There's no reason to give up gluten before egg retrieval, unless you have celiac disease or a gluten intolerance. And vitamins can be cut in half or even ground up. I really like Nell's boyfriend. Too bad. I do think it's weird that the fact that Nell already was pregnant wasn't mentioned. And Lexie has a daughter. Did she use one of the eggs that was retrieved when she was in her 20's, or did she just let nature take its course?
