  1. Preserving civilization starts with not genociding it. I mean Campus was full of academics and possible future Leo Bennetts but CRM razed it down anyway. And food shortages are definitely not an excuse for a community that can produce luxury items, has their resources at hand and who expanded beyond the US already. Not to mention all the hints we get about their capability to self sustain. On top of that they have an entire state they can use for agriculture. Also if they fear their alliance partners are too reliant on them or will cause problems for them in the future (such as food shortages), then tell them to step up their game and do more themselves. Make them look into things like Vertical Farming (which the CR themselves are doing). And if they don't then threaten to withdraw from the alliance. Really rather simple. There would be no consequences for the CR(M) if they cut ties because no one knows where their city is anyway. This is just as bs as Jadis mentioning they saved thousands of kids from those communities. Didn't they say over and over that the CR didn't let anyone in or out? That Leo was the first person in a long time that they took in? And how can you possibly extract thousands of children without anyone noticing? Nonsense. That no one in that group even asked Jadis questions or pointed out that it's nonsense was really infuriating. Reminds me of Avengers: Infinity War where no one pointed out that Thanos' reason for the snap was just idiotic or even ask for proof. Mmm wonder if that's where the writers for this show got it from.
  2. I honestly think it's propaganda. We know that the CRM employs some sort of brainwashing. How else would you get someone like Huck to go over to the dark side without her questioning or realizing that something is off? This is a woman who shot her own fellow soldiers dead in order to protect innocent lives, lets not forget. When Jadis started rambling I honestly thought she sounded like a propaganda machine. The entire time she was talking I was thinking 'what? uhm, receipts please? makes no sense. you are idiots and wow someone drank serious cool-aid.'. The problem here is that we still haven't seen the CR. Was it the CR's idea to team up with the other communities without doing some forward thinking about long term survival? Meanwhile the CRM, once having established their own little secret society, did their own projections and decided it's not going to work? Or is it the CRM's propaganda excuse for genocide? And the real reason is nipping other big communities in the butt before they become as evolved as CR(M) and therefor a danger to CRM who clearly want to rule the world. I really doubt the reason is resources. Last Season we saw Elizabeth in her apartment in a big city which I assume was the CR's hidden city. If you looked out the window you could see greenery everywhere. On top of and on the side of buildings. It's clear that they practice Vertical Farming in that city. Vertical Farming is on the rise even in our real world. With a few exceptions the CR can basically grow all they need within their own city. We also know that they have the entire state of New York basically locked down, with culling posts at strategic points. So with the exceptions of people inside dying and turning (and of course lurkers), they are almost done having a walker free state. That's enough room for big agriculture like corn or wheat fields. We also know they have their manufacturing down to a tee, everything from cars to weapons to medicine. They essentially are a completely self sustaining society. And we know they have more bases around other US states and Brazil. Bananas and coffee can be grown on US soil. Brazilian sugarcane in Brazil of course. They are probably even growing regular sugarcane as well. And it's useful for more than just sugar. But things like bananas or coffee are luxury items IMO. What's needed for basic survival can all be grown inside and near the CR's main city. If they were really worried about their alliance partners becoming a drain on resources, the easiest solution would be to help them become self sustaining. Help them get their own manufacturing up and running. Explain to them how Vertical Farming works since that was clearly not happening at Campus from what little we saw of it. Apparently an entire community of academics couldn't think of something so simple. And then they also become actual trading partners. But nah, lets genocide hundreds of thousands because a computer model told us to. I don't buy that propaganda for a second.
  3. I've honestly been wondering if she is on medication in real life. She used to have an eating disorder prior to S1 being shot (and maybe still during I don't know). It's also why she had to have a wig due to hair loss. She has definitely put on weight between Seasons because her face is much rounder and her body is fuller. But that could just be water because she takes anti-depressants maybe. But she really lacks energy this Season. It's either something like that or she read the scripts for the Season, saw her character had nothing to do and then just said to herself 'why bother'.
  4. What would have made it better would have been a CR(M) focused show, period. And if they still wanted to center it around teenagers, structure it differently. You can even keep their tragic backstories in some form. Have the Bennetts be from Campus Colony, but when their father gets the invite from CR(M), the girls go with him. Silas could have been working at the culling post from the beginning (CRM saw his potential as a soldier and took him from Omaha). Elton could have been an orphan picked up by CR(M). Since they were so invested in flashbacks in S1, they could have shown us how all the kids ended up at CR(M). And since the show is from the POV of the sisters, we follow them as they get to know CR(M). Which would also give us an origin story in S1 as to how the CR came to be. And because they come from a more liberal setup (Campus), Hope can still be the rebellious one at the beginning. She would try and find a way to sneak out of the research facility which leads her to the culling post to meet Silas. She would also connect with Elton in class over their nihilistic view of the world and take him with her to the culling post so he can sneak out too to satisfy his desire to see the world. Then Iris joins in on the fun and we have our group of 4. Felix could have been the Bennetts personal security brought with them from Campus. Huck could have still been an undercover spy first at Campus, then going with the Bennetts as the second security detail but still undercover. The CRM would then have someone in place to try and mold Hope. Added bonus for a second spy along with Lyla. And because of the teenagers sneaking around, towards the end of S1, they would get wind of Campus and Omaha being destroyed by CRM. End the Season on them telling their dad and you have the setup for Season 2 with the promise of an inside rebellion.
  5. This time we get to see a plan unfold while it's happening instead of knowing in advance. That was a nice change. Huck almost completely blew her cover when she killed the Perimeter's 'Gregory'. Jadis is definitely getting even more suspicious. I was surprised Leo managed to convince all the scientists. I mean those people being out in the wild after living behind walls, slim chances of survival for them. They ended last episode on the Silas/Huck cliffhanger and nothing came of it, go figure. Dennis is definitely toast after this and I hate it. They need to start killing main characters and Elton should have been on the chopping block this episode. He's got no point this Season and his unwillingness to pull the trigger on the soldier should have doomed him. This is Walking Dead after all, you kill or you die. You know guys, why won't you just explain to Mason what is going on? He seems like a decent guy so just tell him his daddy is a genocidal manic. That way he can play a willing hostage, so to speak. Why keep him in the dark? That's just screaming for things to go wrong. You had all the time in the world while under lockdown.
  6. Many, many people would be majorly happy with this. It seems like the only people in the Iris corner are those who need to be contrarian. The 'I hate Iris' threads over on the World Beyond subreddit appear at least once (sometimes more) every week when the show is on air. And that's been a thing since S1 lol.
  7. One of the reasons why I was not a fan of her character in S1, despite her being one of the best written ones towards the end. This Season I've decided to block out all the terrible acting ticks because her character is THE best written one on the show.
  8. I think it's more to do with the fact that on TWD main show she was surrounded by many competent adult actors but she also spend most of the time as trash lady. The latter was never going to win anyone over. In this show she is normal and surrounded by less characters which allows the actress to shine through more. She commands the screen here IMO and her+Huck are the best part of the last episodes so far. Iris continues to bug with her dumb ass idea to burn it all down. We get it, you think you are right about everything and the only authority to make any decisions and screw those who don't do your bidding. Does she even care about her friends and family at all? Sure doesn't seem like it.
  9. Probably means Judith with 'mini-me from Alexandria'. This current episode (s02e07) disproves any notion that Rick is Beale. Thank God that nonsense is over with.
  10. That's the question isn't it? I can't conclude anything because we lack info. It's also majorly stupid to do such a large scale attack if you aren't sure it's going to work. Normally you would test on one until it works. Then test on different ages and ethnic groups. Then you widen it to a small group. And only then do you do full scale. But if it was a zombie suppressant, you'd think they would make it less lethal to the human. The Omaha security guard we saw in episode one had chemical burns on him. I still think the cure research is one thing and this chemical weapon another.
  11. The Perimeter community is done. Indira just lost one of her kids because I bet their 'Gregory' let the CRM know what was up after he lost the vote. So either CRM will wipe them out or they destroy each other via infighting. IMO one has to differentiate between CR and CRM. Iris just throws them all together into one blender. I still don't know what to make of Lyla to be honest. I understand the desperation she had to save her husband and kid. But how does 'doing everything to stop the virus (or whatever it is) and save the most amount of lives' square with developing a chemical weapon that can kill thousands in one go? Does she honestly not know what the CRM is doing with it? I'm still missing quite a bit of info.
  12. Worst haircut but best iteration of the character IMO. Granted I dropped off the show by S7 so my Anne/Jadis exposure is limited. But getting an explanation for the weirdness of the junkyard people was overdue. Interesting that it's similar to Ezekiel's act as King of the Kingdom. Also nice to see her admit that she lost everything because she made the wrong alliances. I really have no idea where she stands after her loaded talk with Huck but I consider that a good thing. Iris is going to get everyone killed. Which is long overdue as everyone should have died from her brilliant plan to go into a giant tire fire. And all her other dumbass decisions really. She doesn't listen and she goes against everyone else's plans because she cares about nothing but herself and her revenge. Apparently the safety and lives of her family and friends means nothing to her. I wore the same expression as Leo and Hope during the dinner scene and wish they had gotten Iris away from the table sooner. I'm with Hope in that, yes there are bad people in the CR (mainly the CRM higher ups) but not all of them are evil and what the CR is trying to accomplish in itself isn't a bad thing. But Iris doesn't care, like a petulant, idiot child she just wants to see it all burn. Her plan would even go beyond just the CR. They are producing live saving medicine as well which is what Indira depends on. Sure Iris doesn't know about that but honestly, I think that even if she did, she wouldn't care. Percy is just like Iris which does not bode well. Felix makes for a good contrast in that regard. He was forced to work with and trust Huck in this episode. And even though he would love to kill her, he understands there is a bigger picture here and Huck is one of their only 'inside people'. He's able to put the personal aside for now because they have to be smart and play their cards right.
  13. It's not just coffee beans. Kublek in S1 had a banana in her fruit bowl. There is also next episode where If only they had made this a show about the CR to begin with. Then we could have had an episode entirely devoted to the formation of it. But I'm willing to bet Gimple & Co. wouldn't be able to pull that off. I feel sorry for poor Silas. First Iris lead him on romantically in S1 but then dropped him as soon as something prettier walked on the scene. Then he sacrificed himself for Elton and Percy, hoping they could help/save Iris. Then he landed at the culling outpost and despite a tough start, the guys accepted him and Dennis seemed to be a good guy and mentor for Silas. He was finally getting his 'fresh start'. And then Iris showed up and completely screwed him over. One would think the CRM has basic surveillance like that. But so far that has not been even hinted at in the show. I wonder if that is still something that will be revealed in the remaining episodes or if the genius writers forgot about something so simple. Well Iris' point was that going in without an escape plan would be a bad idea. She wasn't wrong on that front. However they don't really have an escape plan because in order to get back out the way they planned (through the culling outpost), they would have to get out of the CR first and their plan would have to succeed without a hitch. Such as Silas not being caught, which he was. Not to mention the changed the plan at the last second anyway.
  14. Well finally the picture seems to form. Except one has to pause the show and try to decipher the newspapers. Guess I was right with my prediction that the CR has no idea about what the CRM has been doing. And my question about why now, 10 years in, is all of this happening. It seems that the CR was founded pretty much on day 1 of the apocalypse and back then the CR gave the military free reign to do whatever needs to be done. That agreement was for 10 years and the time is up. Now the CRM would be handed over to civilian oversight. The higher ups of CRM definitely won't want that. In the newspaper there was one article of an anonymous farmer saying the CRM has done good work but it's time to hand the reigns over to the civilian government. The main article was about the transition of power with an interview with Major General Beale. He's basically hoping the transition is smooth but also pleading for more time. That makes me wonder about the reason why they destroyed the other places. IMO there are several ways in which this can go. I've said before that the reason for them using walker herds was a cover up. But in light of this 10 year plan it can also be to show CR, 'look at what happened to those places, you take power away from us or dismantle us and the CR might suffer the same fate'. I know some people have been speculating about Omaha being a large scale test because the Omaha police officer looked like had radiation burns or something else weird happening. This made me wonder about the post credit scene with Lyla. She said to her new superior (JADIS) that she knows this is her last chance to get 'it' right. Well it can't be about a cure because there are several scientists in on it and none of them have been given deadlines. We also never see any other scientist in that lab with the test subjects. I've also been wondering why the people in there are wearing hazmat suits. What if it's a bio weapon that is being developed. It was tested in Omaha but didn't do it's intended job. That would also explain why Beale is asking for more time and Lyla is basically on the chopping block talking about it being her last chance. And what if the CRM plans to use it against the CR population because they don't want to relinquish power. Using walker herds then has a double effect. It covers up the giant experiment for one but also shows the CR that a military power should exist to prevent something like that happening to CR. And things are definitely gonna go down at the CR because Kublek has been transferred there indefinitely. And we know that where she usually goes, genocide happens. Her replacement is Jadis.
  15. You know, it's been a while since Carol took a kid to look at the flowers. Considering that Iris pretty much feels nothing killing humans, it might be flower time again. You know those are two attributes which perfectly fit villains. Which is what she is lol.
  16. It's an apocalypse. Slim pickings lol. And he doesn't have to have feelings for her, he might just wanna get some. The lack of chemistry should be no surprise really. When was there ever a couple on TWD main show (don't know about Fear) that had chemistry? It's a staple of this universe. The only potential on this show I ever saw was Elton with Hope (I thought I saw some chemistry once or twice) and it certainly would have been interesting from a story point if these two developed feelings before the reveal of Elton's mother. And how they deal with it after. Elton and new girl have potential (except I don't care because there is no time for this), even if she kind of seems to be a bit of a Hope clone. He is a con-man after all. He knows how to play it. And unless they cut it out, the Season trailer showed Iris and Percy horizontal (thankfully still clothed). So it might still come.
  17. Literally zero plot movement in this one except Huck finding out about mommy dearest. Are they serious? Oh wait Gimple is involved, nvm then. It's kind of hilarious how willing this show is to not do character development (character replacement and never before seen skills) and magically heal all wounds instantly (see Felix and Percy) yet they are unwilling to do the same with the story/plot. One would think they do all this stuff so they have more time for plot/story but nope, it's all in the name of meaningless filler. So is it now Hope's turn to get her character replacement (after Iris and Silas)? Season Premiere she made it clear to Huck she has no interest helping the CR(M) and then episode 2+3 showed her doing recon on the facility. And this episode she is like 'Iris and Felix come to CR(M) with us, no biggie, everything will be totes fine'. Even though she knows from last Season the CRM considers them expandable and the only reason why CRM would even consider keeping them alive is as bargaining chips to keep Leo and Hope in line. That means Elton is the only one left who still needs a new partial personality. Can't wait for next episode when we see him making plans to kill Hope for the murder of his mom, complete with evil smile and all. Because that's totally within Elton's character.
  18. It was mentioned more than once last Season. We all thought it was something Huck did because her mother said 'the incident back home put your judgement into question'. Back then I thought the reveal would be something like her saving people that the CRM wanted dead (which would have been in line with her flashback episode). So we still don't know what it was Dennis did and what Huck did to, I'm guessing, help him and that's why she is also in deep waters. But like everything with this show, the writers act like there will be more Seasons so they are vague about everything just to stretch it all out. The answers should be coming at Roadrunner speed instead of that of a snail. Why is Gimple allowed anywhere near the creative process of anything TWD related? He was kicked from TWD main and FTWD for a reason, damn it.
  19. Well Gimple already let it slip in a TTD segment that the CRM will come up in S11 of TWD. To what extend we don't know. However considering the different timelines, just letting us know that already tells us that the CRM is still standing (duh!) after the events on WB. Because they will definitely save it for those Rick movies that will definitely happen and have him take it down from the inside (*rolls eyes*). No, the bad thing hasn't been explained yet at all. And Dennis was not in Huck's unit from before the outbreak. He mentioned the olden days of being on base and him cooking and her reading the paper. Could be they were both stationed at the same place before the outbreak. Or it could refer to a CRM base. I mean the CRM has their own radio stations, wouldn't surprise me if they also had newspapers. Actually Huck didn't do the bad thing, Dennis did. From how vague Huck explained the aftermath, it sounds like whatever he did put a cramp in their relationship. That's why Huck left to do the assignment in Omaha/Campus, she was trying to come to terms with what he did. I guess she wanted some distance to figure things out. At least that's how I interpret what she said.
  20. Only then? I've been waiting for that to happen every episode since she had the brilliant idea to go into a giant tire fire. Well this show doesn't have the smartest writers. Or Iris' stupidity is contagious and is now spreading to everyone else in that community.
  21. The only way to interpret what they did with Hope in episode 1 this Season is to see it as basically a form of conditioning/brainwashing. The cross country journey was supposed to show her that the world is gone. Then you send her out, by herself, knowing that Hope knows there is nowhere she can run and no one to help her. Everything is gone. So Hope, if she wants to live, has no other choice but to join them. It's basically submit or die.
  22. No, he was never mentioned or seen in S1. Just introduced this Season because we don't have enough romance filler already I guess.
  23. I don't doubt that the CRM is actually mostly former military (at least the higher ups) but my question is more about the quick formation and accomplishments. According to this show the CR has a civilian government. Now I wouldn't be surprised if that was mostly actual former politicians but it's curious because the military would probably outnumber any actual government and could just lead the whole thing. It's also amazing that they have production/manufacturing down this early in the timeline. The CRM outfits and weapons for example. So I wonder if in the world of TWD, the military and government had an emergency plan already in place 'in case of an apocalypse'. But that's why this show should have been 2 Seasons of CR(M) lore and 'get to know' instead of a YA novel.
  24. Gimple is all over this show, sadly. Or Negrete studied too long under him and repeats the same mistakes. If they had actually made a show about CRM, there is plenty to explore in a 2 Season event. The show was never clear about what her relationship with her spotter was. Sure he kind of came on to her in the bar but that might just be the typical cocky soldier attitude. But she killed him just like all the others in her unit.
