His words were, "I know at some at some point..at some point he's going to have to deal with it and that's going to be... will probably be a pretty hard episode." Yes, how does he know that at some point Dean has to deal with it? The show isn't exactly consistent on dealing with Deans' trauma, which usually consists of "boo hoo suck it up" ETA: I like the way you think @catrox14 I wish we had a spoiler friendly Jerk/Bitch thread, because its hard to really have a conversation when everything is behind a spoiler tag

To me it doesn't matter if Jensen has read ahead or not. Because Dabb knows exactly where the season is headed at least up to episode 11. He teased spoilers for Sam, Cas, and Wayward Daughters. He bascially talked about every character but Dean. It's the purpose of comic, while not to give away everything, to promote the seasons story lines. Not actually talking about Dean speaks volumes about what's in store (or more accurately not in store) for the character. Jensen also kind of contadicted himself. He said he hasn't read ahead, but then he says that there will be an episode where How would he know this if he hasn't read ahead. It sounds more like speculation than fact. I remember in s7 when Jensen talked about how Dean to be headed for some kind of break down, but that never happened, instead the whole so-called depression arc was just dropped. Either he has read ahead (and he has lied before, last year he said that he had read 3 scripts and Sam and Dean weren't reunited yet, but they obviously were), or he's just speculating. And since it sounds like they are going the same route with Sam, with I know Sam's trauma will take priority.

It doesn't matter when they did it, because ultimately in the end, Sam using his powers had the full support of the show runner and the blood drinking was ultimately for noble purposes. Because in Fallen Idols apparently Sam was only with Ruby because Dean wasn't treating him like an adult. Fallen Idols tried to say that if only Dean was more supportive Sam woudn't have been with her. So in the end Dean was wrong to question Sam because he drove him into Ruby's arms. That's how it makes Sam right. Dean apologized to Sam 3 times for not trusting him (Fallen Idols, PONR and Swan Song). When Sam spends and entire season lying, why is the burden of proving trust on Dean? No, I meant Sam here. When Sam is wrong the show will validate his choices. Maybe not right away but in the end they ultimately do. Being wrong about the Brits lead to another big hero moment for Sam. The only reason Sam didn't die was because of Cas taking Sam's memories. So, they were right.

Then why was it suddenly pulled out of thin air that the in order to house Lucifer you had to drink demon blood? It was not referenced before or after. IMO, it was done to white wash Sam's demon blood drinking because it was really on done so he'd be strong enough vessel. How is show saying its wrong when we (the audience) were told that was ultimately its purpose? IMO, the show tried to say that Dean was wrong to object to Sam drinking in because in the end it really was for the good of mankind. Why did Kripke say that in the end it really was about Dean accepting those cool powers. if Sam can only get them from drinking demon blood and that still makes them cool, then Kripke must have been okay with Sam's blood slurpees Even if Sam is wrong the show tends to say he's right in the end. It did. Everyone told Dean that putting Sam's soul back was a mistake, and everyone warned Dean not to do it. They went out of the way to show that Souless Sam didn't want it back and that Dean shoved it back into Sam and took away souless Sam's consent. They even showed Souless Sam screaming that no, he didn't want it. The show did everything it could to make Dean wrong to want to do that. I never understood why, but that's the direction the show took

The show didn't treat Sam being wrong about Ruby, Lucifer or the British Men of Letters that way, so its not just Dean. I disagree that it took away Sam's legitimacy because I always felt the "I lied" only referred to him not saving Dean. It wans't quickly forgotten because Dean was disowned and Sam raked him over the coals. Then the next season Sam did the same thing but it was a beautiful act of brotherly love, not wrong. Everyone, Cas, Charlie, and Rowena even supported what Sam was doing, in order to validate Sam saving Dean without his consent. (which Sam actually did twice.).

There was the Ezekiel/Gadreel story. Dean was wrong there too. According to the show he was wrong to resoul Sam. He was also wrong to object to Ruby and Sam's blood drinking. Because its not like Sam went to Ruby of his own free will. He did it because Dean made him feel bad and the blood drinking was really just her getting Sam ready to take on Lucifer. " Dean just needed to learn to love Sam more and accept his cool powers." (Direct quote from Kripke)

I tend to find that even when Sam is wrong, the show tends to validate him. Dabb has Sam on such a pedestal there is no way Jack won't end up being needed to save the world. So once again, even if Jack ends causing damage and chaos and Sam is wrong, he'll turn out to be right. Like I said, Dean's instincts are the only Dean trait left. Take those away and Dean might as well just be stunt hunter number 3, which is exactly how Dabb wrote him last year- Sam's got this, Sam's working on it, can you fix it Sam? Now, Sam is\ There is almost nothing left of Dean, so I'd like to at least keep one trait.

Since Dean's story arcs tend to last 3 episodes, I figure his grief over Cas will end in the 3rd one with a boo hoo suck it up speech from a certain character who is back in that episode. This comic con just confirmed my feelings that Dabb has no use for the character of Dean Winchester. He didn't even try to pretend there was anything Dean related this season and he continues to strip all Dean related traits and had them off to Sam. Even if Dean is right and the Nephilm is evil it will still lead to a big damn hero moment for Sam/ big moments for Sam. But I suspect that Dean won't be right. The Nephilim will really just be this big misunderstood softie with a heart of gold and why can't big mean Dean just see that. Dean's instincts are the only thing he has left, so obviously those must go too. This has to be the worst comic con in terms of Dean related news.

I'd really like it if it was death that followed Cas to back to the real world. I'd like to see a confrontation between Dean and death or a story line where Death goes after Dean wanting revenge.

Episode 3 is the Misery one and also sets up the spin off. We get to see the girls kick major ass. This is why I have zero interest in the spin off. I;m sure it will Dean they get to show up. After a cliff hanger, and waiting 6 weeks for the brothers to come back, I doubt many want to see Claire and company. What is Dabb smoking...last season he said the exact same thing that it would be smaller and more personal. How is Lucifer and his spawn and the brothers losing everyone small? The only thing missing is, "we're getting back to basics"

Yes, I was addressing it to the powers that be. Sorry if you thought I was addressing it to you.

Regardless if the circumstances are the same or not, they're going back to Sam's hell trauma while once again ignoring Dean's. Its been going on for for four seasons now. Let it rest.
-
We knew from ep 22 that was the end of Dean's leadership role. That interview was Sam nurtures Jack, Sam is the leader, Sam's hell trauma will be explored again, Dean acquiesces to Sam. Why is Dean even there? (I don;'t mean this in a bitch/jerk way) its a question I legitametly have about Dean this season since it sounds like Sam is doing it all. Since we know Jack will be around all season, if things go sideways, just like with the brits they won't do it Dean's way. So Jensen but I have no faith the show will deal with the trauma Dean suffered from losing his whole family. Sam's will take priority. Sam's hell trauma isn't about Demon blood. The question was will there be fall out from Mary being trapped with Lucifer and bringing up memories of Sam being trapped. Jared's answer was yes. We see that build. No interested, sorry boo hoo get over it.
-
"We see Sam thinking that if he hates Jack he hates him." WTF? If Sam thinks that, there is no hope for this brotherly bond. Really? Big no, to more fall out from Sam's hell. At this point I'm so over it. A role reveral that Sam pushes memories of being trapped with Lucifer down- didn't Sam do that in season 1 with Jessica? Why did I watch this interview? Jensen said it hasn't come to head yet for Dean about all he lost in finale, but if they're going to have Sam break down over his Lucifer memories I don't see them actually addressing Dean's trauma because they both can't be out of commission at the same time.

I know there is an ongoing debate about nature/nurture and just because someone might be born to drug addicted parents or to a serial killer, but I think Jack is not really comparable. Because if someone shows signs of going the route of their parents you can intervene and get them help, whether its rehab, counseling, or jail in extreme circumstances. The threat would be containable. It wouldn't have world ending consequences. That's the problem with Jack. If he goes rogue and embraces his dark-side and uses his power for bad, sides with his dad there is no way Sam or Dean can stop him. He would have the power to eliminate Sam and Dean with a snap of his his fingers. He has the potential do cause a lot of damage and hurt a lot of people. If the brothers are going have Sam and Dean argue than they need to give Dean more than a straw man's argument that can easily be shot down. But since they usually don't allow Dean to bring up the important points I figure its will just be more Sam pontifcating. I also hope Dean is allowed to bring up that just a few weeks ago (in show time) how Sam had no problem joining up with the British Men of Letters to eradicate every monster in the US whether they deserved it or not. Sam hasn't exactly earned the right to a moral high ground because of this. Kind of off topic, but apparently Kansas told Jensen he could sing with them. Dammit Jensen why?
-
I don't get this attitude from TPTB. Dean caring about someone else doesn't mean he cares about Sam less. Hopefully, Jensen will be able to work some magic and at least put it in there even if it isn't on the page. I think that glance toward the sky as if he was asking God to bring Cas back, I think had to be added by Jensen. I can't see it being a Singer direction.
-
No, apparently at a con, Jensen said that Dean is trying to decide what to do about Cas and comes to the conclusion that there is nothing he can do. Dabb doesn't know Dean at all. He spent all of s11 wanting to save Cas from Lucifer, but now, its just "Oh well" Can Dabb just go ruin the spin off?
-
I can see lots of apologizing from Dean in the future. Sorry for giving up on you mom, sorry for doubting you Sam. Sorry Jack for wanting to shoot you in the face. Sam will bond with Jack over mean bossy Dean, and Mary over being trapped with Lucifer, and lecture Dean about giving up on Mary and Jack. If Dean lost all hope and faith and was in that downward spiral, and we him drinking or being extra reckless on hunts, and thinking that even if they get mom back, odds are she's be changed into something unrecognizable, or so traumatized it wouldn't be worth it, then I could see him not wanting to look, or he's worried they'll make things worse like when they bring each other back, But I didn't get that from Jensen's answer. I'm not even sure they'll actually write him grieving over Cas.
-
It sounds like once again when Sam has to pick between team Dean and Team Not Dean, he's on Not Dean's side.
-
I hope Misery grew less miserable. Since when does Dean give up on family? Dabb sucks.
-
I'm not sure if I'd want to see Cas as death. According to the show killing death has absolutely no consequences/effects on anyone, including the person who did it or other reapers. Killing Billie, who was just a run of the mill reaper shouldn't have any effect either. Both ways is extremely poor story telling, but at least its consistent.

Because Lucifer and the devil baby are so exciting.
