  1. That's because it has, lol. They have stretched out 7 episodes over 11 weeks. Two episodes aired in September and 2 in October, and now 3 in November. Another reason why it's hard to get invested in the show or care about what's going on when it was off the air for weeks at a time.
  2. I can't think of a show offhand that's had a more dramatic drop-off in quality between Seasons 1 and 2. The show is just boring and not even really all that funny this season, as evidenced by the fact that there's 4 comments here about last night's episode. The 1st season was 13 episodes, and this season's only 10. I think that right there shows their heart really wasn't in it as much this season. I'm guessing this is going to be the last season for this show.
  3. That Lifetime talk show sketch that Jan Hooks and Nora Dunn did was so quietly funny in the way it mocked the inane chit-chat typical on talk shows aimed at women. Everything was so low-key but hilarious to me in a kind of Bob and Ray-esque way. "Now how long does it take you to make miniature rice?" "A long time...it's really almost not even worth it" They sort of predated the NPR ladies by about 10 years.
  4. Is that what they were going for? I thought Josh's song was kind of Jack Johnson-ish.
  5. Haha, doesn't really make sense because that is Elphaba's song, not G(a)linda's, but points to the writers for trying to be clever anyway :)
  6. "Secret Word" I actually wouldn't mind seeing again, because it's been a really long time since the last one of those (2012). The Californians, Lawrence Welk, and Target Lady were all done the last time she hosted and I feel like they've been done to death. Garth & Kat I will legit fast forward through if they do that again. Actually, since it's a Thanksgiving show, maybe they will do the Vogelchecks? (the family that kisses each other all the time) That would require cameos by Fred, Bill, Andy and (ideally) Paul Rudd though. Might be asking a bit much (although they did it when Andy Samberg hosted the season 39 finale).
  7. Fred actually has not been on Seth Meyers' show this week, implying that he's somewhere else rather than NY (perhaps filming "Portlandia"?) I'm sure he can probably make the trip to cameo on SNL though if they want to do "The Californians" yet again. Sudeikis is actually booked on "The Tonight Show" next Monday, so there's a good chance he might be appearing this weekend as well.
  8. The election night sketch was written by Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock along with Neal Brennan (co-creator of "Chappelle's Show"), Bryan Tucker (also at one time a "Chappelle's Show" writer), and Colin Jost. Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/BMxDFkAA2D_/?taken-by=nealbrennan
  9. I think as a way of replacing "The Miley Cyrus Show", they should have Vanessa do "The Tiffany Trump Show" (since Vanessa and Miley and Tiffany all kinda resemble each other). Maybe have the premise of it be that Tiffany interviews other members of famous families who are ignored and overlooked, like Frank Stallone or Dave Franco or Casey Affleck. I thought her appearance as Tiffany in "Melaniade" was kinda endearing and would like to see her continue to play her.
  10. Bobby and Pete were both hugging the bronze eagle statue from the "Mr. Shaw" sketch during the goodnights.
  11. Lol, this is a really good point. This has always bothered me about certain recurring sketches. I think the two most blatant ones in recent years were the "sexy" character that Kristen Wiig played- where it was always the same guys who were at first excited and then disgusted to meet Kristen's character and find out she wasn't sexy. The other one was the "Blizzard Man" sketch with Andy Samberg- every time Kenan's studio booth guy is appalled by Samberg's horrible rapping, even though he's met him like 8 times already. I guess we have to assume the characters got hit on the head and developed amnesia between sketches.
  12. That's some good "making you have to work hard to get a joke" there.
  13. "When Marlon Brando got the Land O'Lakes butter girl to accept his Oscar for him.." hahahah I love how many Hader/Mulaney collaborations there were this season. It's good they keep the seasons short too; every episode is just packed with so much detail.
  14. I actually like and prefer Hawaiian pizza. Does this mean I wouldn't find the Bad Place all that bad? :)
  15. Even though the show has been on for too long and should really end after this season, the writers still throw in really clever jokes like this (and the devil/"Soul" thing). Some of the writers I believe worked on Arrested Development so they really handle the wordplay and puns well.
  16. What's been going on with Comedy Central's scheduling lately? I set the DVR for the correct time and even add 3 minutes onto the end of it and I still keep getting the FTW segment cut off (almost entirely on last night's show). I understand during debate weeks sometimes The Daily Show ran long but why do I keep getting like 8-10 minutes of The Daily Show whenever I try to record @midnight?
  17. A good reason why this episode was lighter in tone than the others (which I don't think anyone has mentioned yet) is that it was written by Rashida Jones and Mike Schur. I believe Charlie Brooker came up with the story idea and then Jones and Schur wrote the actual script.
  18. That is hilarious that Shearer wrote this episode. He has been doing that great Tom Brokaw impression since at least the early '80s. I remember a sketch he did during one of his tenures on SNL where he played Brokaw, who was angry that someone was apparently "sneaking more L's" into his copy to trip him up during the newscast.
  19. I like it! It gives the show a little more of a sketch-like feel, instead of just being a game show. I've liked all the characters so far, but James Adomian as the vaping guy was definitely the best.
  20. Was Louis CK drawing on his own personal experience with the scene with the kid and Sam in the car together? (Ok, ALLEGEDLY)
  21. I don't watch "The Great British Bake-Off", but I know who Sue Perkins is, and while Melissa didn't really have a lot of lines in the sketch, she did nail her smug facial expressions pretty well.
  22. Yeah, I think with this episode more than any of them it really would depend on you having seen "Stop Making Sense" for you to really appreciate the episode. The humor was in how closely they mimicked the original and especially the style of Talking Heads' music. There were other '80s/new-wave sort of parodies in there as well; Hader's song sounded more like Devo to me and "Flashing Lights" had kind of a Cars feel. And the talk-singing song that Fred did was Tom Waits for some reason. The music's pretty nice to listen to on its own actually. The one song they didn't include was the song supposedly written by Maya's character, which is actually a pre-existing song written by Matthew Sweet.
  23. I like how each episode the last few weeks has had a different tone. The Justin Bieber one was like some weird dreamlike David Lynch film, the episode last week was ultra-realistic, "Girls"-type awkwardness (except for the kid in whiteface at the end), and this episode was ridiculous, like Glover was trying to make a silly Adult Swim type parody show. All the little details with the fake commercials and everything were great.
  24. Yes, the oldest daughter seemed to have a realization in this episode that she was screwing up her life so it was a nice redemption moment for her after being pretty unlikable thus far.
  25. "Can we hear you say all the street names again?" "What??!?!?" "I'm kidding."
