  1. Going back a ways in the thread, but the millenial Youtube kid correspondent was Drew Tarver from "Bajillion Dollar Propertie$".
  2. There's a three week break after this episode before the next new episode. Maybe they're using this as an excuse to "retire" Alec's Trump impression and use the break to recast the role (maybe even hiring a new cast member?)
  3. They may be overestimating America's love for Baldwin's Trump impression just a tad. Also, why NOW, after the election is over? Might have made sense back in November (especially since they weren't expecting Trump to win and thus it might have been his last chance to do the impression).
  4. She has a movie coming out in March called "The Personal Shopper", which is what she's hosting to promote I guess. I have to agree, normally in cases like this where they pick a non-comedic actor (Casey Affleck, Felicity Jones) you can usually say "Well, they're a really good actor". To be honest I don't even like Stewart's acting in dramatic films :(
  5. I liked the idea somebody here had (sorry, don't remember who) that the season would end with a wedding and then the theme song/opening credits sequence for next season would be a cheesy "Too Many Cooks"-style parody of family sitcoms with a married Rebecca and Josh and little sequences of all the cast members doing various wacky things.
  6. Since the Golden Globes are next weekend, I'd love to see someone who wins (or even just someone who was nominated) be the host on the 21st. Julia Louis-Dreyfus did last season for "Veep". Anthony Anderson would be a good choice, so would Bob Odenkirk for "Better Call Saul" or Rachel Bloom for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend". Donald Glover could actually be a combo host/MG if he were to win for his show "Atlanta".
  7. If Rachel Bloom were to win Best Actress in a Comedy again at the Golden Globes (which may or may not happen- the GG can be unpredictable in their choices sometimes), I think she'd be an excellent choice for host. She has legitimate UCB sketch training, and what she does on her show is essentially what they've been doing on SNL with the female-led music videos like "Do It On My Twin Bed", "Dongs All Over The World", etc. She seems like a perfect fit; she even auditioned for SNL and has an audition tape that she could show to humorous effect in her monologue.
  8. IMDB says he had a small role in the first 2 "American Pie" movies (which I don't remember at all), but this movie I think is the only comedy where he's had a lead role. Oh, also he was in "Tower Heist" which was sort of a comedy I guess.
  9. You're right. I wonder if Nurse Hoffel will find out that Hester is actually the one responsible for her sister's death, not Chanel Oberlin. Edit: I'm guessing that Hester is counting Pete as the "one" person she killed since the other deaths were kind of indirect- she could shift the blame to Chanel for Ms Bean's death and the pizza guy blew himself up, technically.
  10. Yes, Hester and Boone were brother and sister. They were the two babies born to the woman who died at the party in the bathtub in the first season. They were then raised by Nasim Pedrad's character who encouraged them to become killers to get revenge for their mother's death. (I hope this is all correct). Who is the "one person" who was killed by Hester? Was it the Taylor Swift girl who got her head chopped off by the lawnmower?
  11. Sasheer actually has written (or co-written) some sketches lately where she wasn't the focus, like she was a writer on the "Wiz Live" sketch from last season with Ryan Gosling, and also cowrote the "Stranger Things" sketch this season with a new writer, Kristen Bartlett. That Stranger Things one is kind of noteworthy because she was in no way the focus of that sketch, so she's attempting to write cast pieces for other people, which is nice. I think she was also one of the writers of the "The Cut" sketch with Brie Larson as well. Maybe that's why they retained her and got rid of Jay Pharoah- she appears to have some talent in the writing department even if she's not getting on camera as much as the other female cast members.
  12. On Twitter Rachel said that Anna's song was kind of inspired by Selena Gomez's "Good For You", and now that I know that I can kinda hear it, sorta breath-y and hypnotic and repetitive.
  13. I too am wondering why they're not letting Melissa do more of her impressions. She actually does an impression of Kristen Wiig which they didn't let her do when Wiig hosted. Owen Wilson has a movie coming out in January called "Bastards" so I wonder if we will see her do her Owen Wilson impression, which is quite funny. Some of them I can see being kind of problematic- like she does Wanda Sykes really well, but it'd be kind of hard to do that visually without it being offensive. But at this point in the season I feel like we'd even seen Noel Wells do more impressions on the show than Melissa has (the two that she has done, Sarah Silverman and Winona Ryder from "Stranger Things", were both very good).
  14. I wonder if this was intentional. I downloaded a version from the web (Hulu rip I believe) and it was the same way. It's sort of at the point where Trump is getting drowsy as his "mommy" Kellyanne Conway is trying to get him back to sleep so maybe it is just like him sort of starting to fall asleep and everything is becoming cloudy and unclear. Then again, with all the other weird technical glitches in this episode, who knows.
  15. I wonder if this was Julio Torres again? He seems to write the most creative and surreal pieces on the show. Loved all the little touches like the fashion show on the TV where all the models were wearing long red ties and the Fox news report just being "huge, huge success...victory...fantastic....landslide". Something about this sketch was almost Charlie Kaufman-esque (reminded me of the dream sequences in "Being John Malkovich"- especially all of Trump's assistants just saying "Trump, Trump, Trump" over and over)
  16. Haha, I was wondering if this was intentional, glad to see others thought so too.
  17. Dwayne Johnson is actually booked on The Tonight Show on Friday, so I'm expecting we'll see him cameo in this episode.
  18. Quoting myself here, but you have an opportunity now, SNL writers, SEIZE IT! I could see Pete playing Dave Franco maybe, and if he wanted to Alec Baldwin could play his brother Stephen (lol, not sure how well that would go over in their family, but it would be funny)
  19. I've seen Casey Affleck be funny in a movie once, in the movie "Drowning Mona" (which is a hilarious little-seen comedy from about 15 years ago). Ever since then nothing in his career has indicated he has much interest in comedy; it's all pretty downbeat, depressing stuff (including his new movie). I can't help but feel having Ben host the Christmas show would have been a much more fun show (also picking a different musical guest- Chance the Rapper??)
  20. "Friendtopia" was sort of a mash-up of different Spice Girls songs ("Spice Up Your Life", "Wannabe", etc.) and "Stuck In The Bathroom" was a pretty direct parody of R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet" (which you should Google if you want to see something truly insane).
  21. Not sure how big a deal the Critic's Choice Awards are, but Kate McKinnon was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in "Ghostbusters". Interestingly, these awards will take place Sunday, December 11th, which is the same weekend they're doing a show. Generally they try not to schedule SNL episodes the same weekend as awards shows; wonder if she's just not going to attend. Doubt Lorne would let her out of doing a show that week. Coincidentally the awards are being hosted by her "Office Christmas Party" co-star T.J. Miller.
  22. That's because it has, lol. They have stretched out 7 episodes over 11 weeks. Two episodes aired in September and 2 in October, and now 3 in November. Another reason why it's hard to get invested in the show or care about what's going on when it was off the air for weeks at a time.
  23. I can't think of a show offhand that's had a more dramatic drop-off in quality between Seasons 1 and 2. The show is just boring and not even really all that funny this season, as evidenced by the fact that there's 4 comments here about last night's episode. The 1st season was 13 episodes, and this season's only 10. I think that right there shows their heart really wasn't in it as much this season. I'm guessing this is going to be the last season for this show.
  24. That Lifetime talk show sketch that Jan Hooks and Nora Dunn did was so quietly funny in the way it mocked the inane chit-chat typical on talk shows aimed at women. Everything was so low-key but hilarious to me in a kind of Bob and Ray-esque way. "Now how long does it take you to make miniature rice?" "A long time...it's really almost not even worth it" They sort of predated the NPR ladies by about 10 years.
  25. Is that what they were going for? I thought Josh's song was kind of Jack Johnson-ish.
