  1. I was a little surprised by Dr. Frost's reaction to Maggie, though maybe I shouldn't have been. He was clearly struggling with Ainsley's presence, and he does not feel good about their relationship. But when Maggie tried to talk to him, he said he's not a victim of sexual abuse, though his reaction to Ainsley shows that emotionally, he does feel victimized. It would be hard to say those words out loud, especially after he's downplayed it or ignored it for so many years. I was expecting him to talk to Dr. Charles about it -- maybe that's coming later. I'm just glad that he told Ainsley to back off. I'm also impressed that the show is doing a storyline about sexual abuse of a teen boy and how it affects him later in life.
  2. Both of these plot points make me believe that the writers are just willing me to hate this show. The continued Sir storyline and everything surrounding Jamie are just ridiculous.
  3. O'Shon has commented before that Ava is hilarious, so I'm not sure he realized, until the date, that she was serious about the mean things she says.
  4. That was such a nice moment. Very in character for Barbara.
  5. "It's just a flesh wound!"
  6. I don't miss Betty at all when she's not there. Oh, Jeremy. So disappointing. You want to be artist? Write some new material and find a new label. For a brief moment, I thought he'd reconsider and give the bag back to Rafael. He's not safe as a CI. His mom is a GBI agent. Rafael is not stupid. Even if Rafael gets arrested and prosecuted, he and his gang will probably know Jeremy was involved. Detective Angie never thought for a second the doc might be a widower? Franklin and Pete are my favorites.
  7. I definitely did not expect him to be so jacked.
  8. A public school district of that size can't afford the expense of enough buses and drivers for all of the students, so they rely on the city's public transit to provide that service.
  9. I was going nuts trying to figure out why I recognized him. I know him from Motive.
  10. Margaret was gold! I thought Sweet Cheeks had had a heart attack and died inside the exercise ball. Barbara probably didn't feel too great about having SLUT shirt mom compliment her outfit 😂 ETA: My favorite line was from Mr Johnson about seeing two sweet cheeks (i.e. Barbara in tight jeans).
  11. Ormewood has always been buff, but he's beefed up since Season 1. I was kinda shocked to see how big he was.
  12. I felt sorry for Rina after her mom started reading that letter. Uff.
  13. I learned this some years back when I served on a jury - legally speaking, kidnapping means that you prevent a person from leaving a place. So even though Rina entered the apartment willingly, if they didn't let her leave when she wanted, that would be kidnapping. Abduction is taking a person from one place to another against their will. I really liked Will and Marion in this episode. He offered just the right amount of support. I said out loud "Is she Spider-Man?" at the same time as Ormewood asked about the radioactive spider. 😂 ETA: @Dowel Jones I just realized after reading a comment below that you were talking about Rina being kidnapped by the drug dealers. That plot was kinda random.
  14. I loved getting Pete's backstory. This episode was an emotional roller coaster for him. I have to give kudos to Gina Rodriguez for her portrayal of scared Marion. She's always nails highly emotional scenes.
  15. Are they 12? "We're besties! Why didn't you tell us?!" Some things aren't your business. Period.
  16. If Kate is going to have only a bit part, I'm even less inclined to watch than I already was.
  17. My favorite moment was Barbara's expression of joy at marking "Janine needs help with something silly" on her bingo card.
  18. Yes, it was the parole officer. RIP to her and props to her for the burn she served to Angie. And props to you @AnimeMania for "spear-minted"!
  19. I literally yelled "I want Cricket!" during the scene with Marion in the morgue. I looked away from the screen for much of the Will/Marion scene in the kitchen. It's not working. It does feel fake. Gina Rodriguez is not pulling off the charm the way that Susan Kalechi Watson did.
  20. Dana Sue's horrified bitch face when Maddie walked down the stairs was uncalled for. She could have at least tried to look pleasantly surprised. I had completely forgotten about Maddie's middle son.
  21. In some places, yes, you can text 911. I would assume it's used mostly by deaf people, but that's a good idea to use it if you don't want to be overheard. They should do more scenes like that in movies and TV so that people are aware that it is an option.
  22. Not really problematic, but more of a joke that Jacob knows how to play and Janine doesn't. He would definitely need to know how to play had he gotten into Morehouse 😂 (I'm only half-joking—I know someone who made it a point to teach her son to play Spades before he left home for his freshman year there). - signed A Member of the Black People Who Can't Play Spades Support Group
  23. My impression was that Janine did not like the food. She was playing along since Gregory seemed to be enjoying the experience. She took a small bite and then sarcastically said "Having a ball!" when he talked about the flavors dancing in his mouth. But then she couldn't pretend anymore and blurted out "I can't eat this." She's even the one who says, "Let's go."
  24. So, Angie is still not showing much remorse. I really did not like that neither she nor Will mentioned that Crystal also ended up dead.
  25. I grew up in Cleveland in the 80s and 90s, and it wasn't uncommon for kids to take the city bus to school. There was even a program for students to get discounted (or maybe free?) bus tickets or passes. They're might have been a lower age limit, but back then people were less worried about young kids being out on their own. I rode a school bus until 6th grade, but if I missed it, I could take the city bus on my own. I switched to a private school on 7th grade, and I had to take a bus and a train to get to school.
