  1. Darn you guy I don't remember seeing before (Jay? And he has an idol? huh?)! I was really looking forward to seeing Michaela compete in individual immunity challenges. She could have been another Ozzy, challenge-beast-wise.
  2. I heard a Trump surrogate comment today that Hillary is running such a negative campaign and they wish she would be more like Donald, who is talking about America's bright future and his policies to make it happen. I speculated a while ago that Trump's surrogates have some sort of hearing problem where they can't hear what they themselves are saying. I have decided that they also can't hear reporters' questions or what Donald Trump is saying either. Did anyone else hear Trump coaching himself out loud at a Rally "Stay on message, Donald" and "Be calm, Donald" and try to figure if he was on Valium, Nexium, Ritalin, Weed, or jsut fell and hit his head on the tub? My latest theory (still trying to make sense of this election and Trump's "popularity") is that, among his other mental/emotions issues/disorders, Trump has short term memory loss. Like when he said during the debate that he doesn't pay taxes because he is smart and, immediately after the debate, said "I never said that." Sometimes he forgets what he said two sentences before. His short term memory loss is so severe that it is contagious - millions of people have caught it and forget whatever Trump said moments/hours/days/weeks before. Actually, it is a hybrid form of short term memory loss that isn't just contagious, it makes people apply the memories to the wrong person, so they remember Hillary mis-used charitable donations and that she is the untrustworthy one, etc... I always thought is was weird that the most sensitive/fragile part of a man's body is supposed to be such a sign of strength (Testicles vs Vaginas - which one is better at taking a pounding?) You are not alone in this theory. On MSNBC this morning, they said that every time the World Series went to 7 games during a presidential election year, if the American League team won, the Republican became president, and it the National League won, so did the Democrats. There is a Samatha Bee video someone posted (either in this thread of the political humor one) where she speculates that Trump can't read, an part of her evidence is him saying that he doesn't type the tweets, he has "one of the women" do it. Perhaps, they have stopped doing it and hope that his short-term memory loss problem will prevent him from realizing they didn't tweet it.
  3. Kellyanne was asked by someone on MSNBC about the anti-Semitics at Trump rallies. She said that the Trump campaign doesn't condone it but people have their first amendment rights and "say stupid things. I see it everyday." I had to laugh imagining that Donald Trump is one of he people she hears stupid stuff from every day. Heard another Trump supporter saying that Hillary's problem is that she just keeps complaining about the same things instead of discussing policy. The reporter didn't let her get away with that. It won't be the stress of this election that will kill me, it will be the hypocrisy.
  4. I didn't see the press conference, but if the media did show up and was told what it was about, then, even if the victim didn't appear, at least the news is out there. And more people will hear of it. I like to follow the Golden Rule - treat others the way you would like to be treated. I also assume that everyone else also follows that rule and treats me and others the way they want to be treated. In other words, I will use the golden rule in its inverse - I will treat people the way they treat others, because that must be the way they want to be treated. Therefore, I would not think any less of Hillary if she walked up to the podium and started of her speech with "Corrupt, lying Donald Trump is the biggest pedophile and rapist this country has ever seen...." I am still waiting for that proof that Obama was not born in the US that Trump said he had and would show when the time was right. I think the kind of Supreme Court we will have is the reason why a lot of people who don't like Trump are voting for him. They want Roe vs Wade overturned. However, I don't think that as many undecided pro-choice people take the supreme court into consideration when trying to make up their minds. I suppose that is because the anti-choice people want to change something, and it is more difficult to remember that you sometimes have to take steps to keep things from changing. Therefore, I ask you to please mention the idea of taking the Supreme Court into consideration only when you are talking to people you know are pro-choice.
  5. If they are, then the ones I have heard must be getting Ds because they are crappy at deflecting questions. The way you deftly deflect a question is to start be sounding you are answering it but seamlessly segway into the topic you want to discuss or by giving an answer that sounds like an answer, but really isn't. These surrogates just interrupt before the question has been fully asked and start talking about their bullet points. This makes sense. My theory was that there is so much corruption surrounding Trump that it is the norm and not unusual. On the other hand, there is so little implication of wrongdoing by Clinton that that anything that sound like it is corrupt gets lots of attention. If your male neighbor started shaving his chin on his front porch every morning, the neighbors might mention that it was an odd place to shave, but they would soon disregard it. If you female neighbor started shaving her chin on her front porch every morning, people would be gossipping about it for weeks, A corollary to this theory - Trump says such inflammatory stuff and has so many stories of corruption coming out of his campaign that every time there is a new one, it gets quickly replaced by a newer one.
  6. Saw the some of an interview on MSNBC with Stephanie Somebody talking to the General who is a Trump surrogate. She asks him about the ties to Russia and Trump's fondness for Putin (she put it nicer than that). Well, she tries to ask him about this but he just keeps interrupting and talking over her to spout off about the emails and how Hillary was part of the group that gave a bunch of money to Iran so they can build nukes. Eventually he says that the US has to work with Putin not antagonize him, like Hillary wants to do. Aargh. The reporter tried to get her point across, but was also so polite with him - "please let me finish my question, sir" I was hoping that they would turn off his mic and tell him that he either has to answer the question or the interview is over. Per dictionary.com, one of the definitions of "terrific" is "causing terror; terrifying." We are going to be in gridlock the next four years if Hillary wins too, unless Dems win a majority in House and/or the Senate. But, at least we won't be wearing radiation protective clothing. And if he loses, I bet he goes around boasting about how he "changed American politics" and "brought down the Republican party" Trump's ego won't let him think about the fact that not everyone follows you because they like you. A video only has to play on Facebook for 3 seconds in order to count as a view. The number of followers and the number of views jsut make Trump believe he is very popular. The whole election sounds like something from a bad sitcom. My husband faithfully watches the news every night. He reads the newspaper every day. He had no idea about the rape trial until I told him - he had no trouble believing it. I hope that, now that the victim has come out of hiding, the rape trial will get more attention.
  7. I was never a news junkie before the election. Actually, I didn't become one until a few weeks ago when the Access Hollywood tape surfaced. Then I tuned in to hear about Trump's numbers falling (oh, sweet schadenfreude) and got hooked. Until the Comey letter came out. Then it got too depressing/frustrating to watch and I have been trying to avoid it. I did catch a few minutes here and there and was happy to see that the possible Trump-Putin ties were getting attention, and even heard reports on Trump's misuse of his Foundation funds and on Dems filing lawsuits against the Trump camp for voter intimidation. I also heard about the FBI email dump. Supposedly, this was a scheduled dump and had nothing to do with the letter or the election. Not looking forward to all the Trumpsters spouting off on how it was a planned dump and a routine matter so there is no reason for the Dems to be upset, while complaining about Clinton "deleting 33,000 emails is the most corrupt thing ever" even though it was also planned to be done as a routine matter before any subpoenas were received (I have a very low tolerance for hypocrisy). In any case, I realized this morning that the FBI evidence dump has an upside - it brings to light the government definition of "dump." Saw a bit of a news segment this morning where they were discussing one of Podesta's wikileaked emails, where he says that they should "dump" all the emails. Now, most of us non-government types probably think that "dumping emails" or "dumping files" means that you are trashing them or deleting them. But, as the person being interviewed pointed out, in government lingo, "dump" means to make public - just like how the FBI dumped all the Clinton Foundation Investigation evidence. Podesta was not recommending that they delete everything, he was recommending that they make everything public. Will most people understand this? I hope so. What does "click baity" mean? Sounds like Bruno Mars lyrics - "My shorty was click baity" - actually, it sounds more like misheard Bruno Mars lyrics (it is "smoother than a fresh jar of skippy" - not "smoother than a fresh dry skippy" nor "smoother than a fresh dried hippy"
  8. When I checked up on the rape trial a few days ago, the article mentioned that no one seems to be able to find her (she was "in hiding"). This might be why they haven't pressed this point - Hillary was winning, there were enough other women speaking out, there was no point in talking about something that could be so easily dismissed by voters ("this is all rumors, we haven't even seen the women, she probably doesn't exist..."), and no point to cause the victim anguish. Now that she has come out to speak publicly, I hope there is more press about it.
  9. Shouldn't these people realize by now that the sharks don't give money to companies that haven't really started out yet? When the unpack guys came out and one of them was wearing a huge poncho and then they started talking about how they didn't want to pay the baggage fee, I thought there product was a poncho you could hide all your items in - that the inside of the poncho would be covered in pockets to hold your clothing. I thought it was stupid. Then they gave their pitch and I realized that the clothes-carrying poncho wasn't the worst idea. Even if you could find enough people willing to rent used clothing, the logistics would keep them out of business. They'd need s huge warehouse to store clothes of many different sizes and laundering everything each time is was returned would be costly and time-consuming. Anyone who remembers the Pet Rock can understand that the Potato-gram could be big for a little while as a fad or joke. I want to try the sauce. I would buy the sunscreen thing if it weren't so expensive.
  10. Zero. I live in a suburban neighborhood where houses are 30 feet apart, my porchlght was on, no Trump sign in my lawn (no signs at all) and we had no trick-or-treaters. However, I am at the end of a cul-de-sac, there is a bend in the street so you can't see this far until you start walking down the street (and you can't see my porchlight until you get to my driveway anyway), and many of my neighbors keep their houses dark. We have never had our doorbell ring more than 5 times on any Halloween in 30 years. On the plus side, when the kids were little, my husband and I both got to take them trick-or-treating and/or to the school's Halloween carnival and no one felt guilty that we were collecting candy but not handing out any.
  11. In the example given above, wouldn't Donald have to report $40 million as income, because it is forgiveness of debt? He spent $40 million and doesn't have to pay it back, makes it income, doesn't it? I heard someone one on the news mention that Trump hadn't reported forgiveness of debt income. I also heard, as you mentioned, that he deducted the losses of others. I understood this to mean that, for example, he put $80 million int a project, and other investors put in $30 million, but Donald deducted the full $110 loss when the project went belly up. I heard a reporter ask a Trump surrogate why Trump didn't release his taxes and if Trump ever would and the surrogate claimed the standard excuse "under audit" and said that Trump would release them when the audit was done. He also said that Trump has been audited for the last 15 years, so I guess that means, since he is "always" under audit, he will never release them. According to a CPA friend of mine, if the IRS audits you and finds nothing wrong, they don't keep auditing you. If Trump has really been audited every year for the last 15 years, the IRS must be finding something improper being reported on his returns.
  12. If you want to set your head to spinning, imagine if Donald Trump had run against someone like Donald Trump - imagine that Hillary used Donald's tactics. She would have such a wide variety of nicknames to use for him - Lying Donald, Corrupt Donald, Rapist Donald, Russian Donald, Cheating Donald, Tax-cheating Donald, Wife Beating Donald, Bankrupt Donald, Delusional Donald - she would blurt out "opinions as fact" statements, like - "He is the biggest tax cheat in the history of our country" "He has raped many, many women" - "He is not releasing his tax returns because he took money from Russia / donated to the KKK / only makes $27,000 a year / is claiming his mistress's children as dependents" - "Donald's paid for more abortions that Planned Parenthood has"
  13. Why aren't the news stations reporting on this stuff? They just show clips of Trump running his mouth and then talk to people who are pro-Trump and pro-Clinton, but the topic is usually about something Trump said (except when the tape was hot news). I think it is time for Clinton to mention a few of these things so she can control the coverage, the way he he has been doing most of the election.
  14. It is like they are so afraid of appearing biased and pro-Clinton that they end up being pro-Trump. There are 32 topics in the Current Events and Politics Forum. Sometimes we all get so sick of thinking about Donald Trump that his topic moves down.
  15. Typical Trump - always accusing others of crimes he commits himself, always calling people names that would be best applied to himself. Recently, he started to say that Hillary didn't have the stamina to be President, that she does one speech and then goes home and takes a nap, etc...and I noticed that his speaches didn't have the same insensity sthey previously. Yes he does.
  16. This morning, I saw a guy on CNN (I think), who said that people should not vote for Hillary because, if she wins, the republicans will spend the next four years going after her and nothing till get done. I bet he never ate lunch as a kid because he always gave the bullies his lunch money.
  17. Yup, the more they stick together, the slimier they get. Reading all these posts makes me realize how lucky I am. I live in a very blue state, so I am not subjecting to much Trump propaganda, except what is covered on the national news. I only know one person who said he would vote for Trump (unfortunately, it is my father) and I don't know if he still supports Trump after the tape surfaced. I only have two facebook friends that post political stuff - one posts funny anti-Trump stuff and the other thinks everyone should vote for Johnson. Fortunately, the Johnson supporter lives in Washington State, which is also very blue - I would love to see Hillary get a huge share of the popular vote, but at least his vote for Johnson won't keep her from getting electoral votes.
  18. The coverage of this Comey crap is so frustrating. Turn on the news and everyone, except the pro-Trump group say that Comey was wrong to give the info. Hillary and her surrogates are all saying Comey was wrong to make it public. And I agree that his motives are suspicious and he should get in a lot of trouble for it, but everyone has read Comey's letter - it is out there and it can't be taken back. This isn't a trial where the judge tells the jury to disregard something when making their decision. In addition to what they have been saying (Comey was wrong and he should release the emails), I think Hillary and surrogates should be publicly telling Comey that since he has discussed the investigation that involves Hillary, he also needs to tell about any investigations involving Trump, such as his possible involvement in the hacking by the Russians. Do I think Comey would comply? - No, but at least it would get people thinking about whether the FBI was investigating Trump and whether he was involved. I am also frustrating by the media by showing Trump spouting off about Hillary being a criminal. He talks like she has already been convicted of something and the news people know that it is not true. There should be a law against broadcasting something other than the truth, without pointing out that it is incorrect. I would be fine if they showed Trump speaking and commented (before or after) what the truth was - for example, Although Hillary Clinton has not been convicted of any crime, previous investigations turned up no criminal activity, and no one has actually reviewed the emails found recently, Donald Trump called her a criminal at a rally earlier today" then show the clip. However, they just say "Donald Trump was speaking at a rally earlier" then show the clip. It is misleading and adds an air of truth to a blatant lie. Anyone reporting the news should have an obligation of being as accurate as possible. There needs to be something to prevent candidates, from any party, from just making stuff up and presenting it as fact.
  19. On the Trump thread there was talk of voodoo dolls. Now, I am not suggesting you actually make a voodoo doll of Trump and keep it in your living room - nobody should have something that ugly in their home - but I am suggesting that you periodically close your eyes and imagine where you would stick that pin - in the part that matters most to him? in his little anus mouth? jab his itty bitty hand? To bad you can poke it into his heart or his brain, if they exist, they'd be too hard to find.
  20. I am glad NBC is getting the letter out there. Let's hope it becomes the next "thing that everyone is talking about" unless, of course, Access Hollywood has another tape lying around. There were a few comments/tweets when I checked the page linked above - all of them see to be from the Anti-Hillary camp, including this gem Wonder if he'd think Comey acted with integrity if he went "outofhis" way "2attempt" to "clearthings" "4the" election if it was telling everyone they were investigating Trump for his involvement with the Russian hackers.
  21. I completely agree with you. The point I was trying to make was that even if Comey explanation was legitimate, the way he wrote the letter show that he was biased, that there are ways he could have been less biased and more fair, but he didn't go that route.
  22. Thank you so much for posting this. I laughed out loud for 2 minutes (it took me 14 seconds after the video stopped for me stop laughing).
  23. For a few seconds, let's just go along with the notion that Comey was between the proverbial rock and hard place - if he didn't mention finding emails and something significant turned up after Hillary was elected, there would be firestorm. Therefore, he had to disclose finding the emails (remember, we are just pretending he had a good reason to write the letter). Then, he has a duty to make this disclosure fair and include such phrases as "since I am disclosing an investigation into one candidate, in order to be fair, I also need to disclose any investigations involving any other presidential candidates...." and " The newly obtained emails had been uploaded to a laptop by an employee for the purpose of being printed out. They are likely duplicates of emails we have previously seen, but will be reviewed carefully to confirm this."
  24. Hey, them's fighting words! If I were a Trump speech writer, I would write "The media is so bias. So unfair. They act like they don't know I am the most corrupt, more than anyone, and a rapist, a raper of children, really, and that everyone should vote for Hillary." and put it on the teleprompter and, if he managed to pay attention long enough, I am pretty sure he would say it without thinking because he does so little thinking when he speaks.
