  1. I thought he was pretty brave of Tyrion to walk up to the gate to talk to Cersei directly. I doubt he meant it when he told Cersei she’s not a monster. It’s called diplomacy. No chance it would work, but at least he tried. On the other hand, his question to Brienne about being a virgin was pretty rude, if you ask me. I thought Dany was clever to name Gendry a lord at that moment. The people needed something uplifting and she gave it to them. I do think her descent into madness has been a long time coming. In the beginning when she walked out of the flames, she gave people a choice—follow her or leave. That evolved into follow her or burn. Her increasing threats to everyone that they better not betray her or else make her seem unhinged. And now ordering Jon to lie to his family? That’s not within the authority of a ruler. Also, remember that even though she did not claim the throne until after Viserys died, she was told since she was little that he was the rightful heir, so the family claim really has been there for her whole life. Her sense of entitlement grows stronger by the minute and that means she won’t win. Sansa seems to be the only one who actually listens to her advisors. I respect someone who says “I don’t know but I’ll find out.” Maybe she should be queen. I’m in the camp that Jaime left to stop Cersei, not join her. He can’t be ok with the Bronn hit. The funeral scene at the beginning had me sobbing. The drunken sex scenes had me smiling. The dragon death had me gasping. Every scene evoked some kind of emotion. Great job, show.
  2. Actually, there was a big clue in the library.. Arya was hiding under a table as a wight approached, but when it looked underneath she was gone. This foreshadowed her sneaking into the Godswood unseen using the same stealth skills.
  3. I think Jaime will kill Cersei for revenge after Brienne dies defending him from Bronn.
  4. The clues are there! The Iron Throne is the wheel that Daenerys will break. The biggest clue of all is right in the name: Game of Thrones. Thrones. Plural. Also, just saying, Euron Greyjoy is the reason I don’t internet date.
  5. I like Missandei, I really do, but clearly her boss neglected to tell her that Sansa offered a lovely and sincere apology for not immediately thanking Dany and welcoming her to Winterfell, which Dany graciously accepted. Had Missandei known, she probably would not have made that comment. A lot of people here also seem to forget that as well. And one other thing. Yes, many of these women have been raped and that leaves psychological scars. But as far as we know, Sansa is the only one who was left with presumably permanent chronic pain as a result of her repeated assaults. Think about that for a second. What would that be like, to never be able to forget what happened to you for a single second? I cut her a lot of slack for that.
  6. That's how I felt about Roose Bolton. What a voice!
  7. As for everyone having a role to play, let's give it up for Hot Pie, without whose friendship Arya never would have made it to Winterfell. Also the nameless girl who taught Arya how to fight in the dark when she was blind.
  8. Gee, thanks for the history lesson. Let me make the point clearer. Dany, the North, the Unsullied, the Dothraki, the Wildlings, the Night Watch, some Lannisters, and probably some more groups formed an alliance to defeat a common enemy. That doesn't mean that a weaker member who had more to lose should give up rule to a stronger ally out of gratitude.
  9. Thoughts on rewatch: By my count the Dothraki army was wiped out in 38 seconds. I think this was really important because everyone instantly knew this wasn’t going to go as planned. For those complaining about how dark it was, I did find it easier to see when I watched it again after dark. At 6 PM it was still light out and much harder to see the screen. It had to be done at night though because there is no way they could have filmed this in daylight with hundreds of extras in full makeup. Logistically impossible, or at least impractible. I still don’t get the point of Bran warging into the raven. I think maybe it was he could watch the entire battle but that’s just a guess. Raise your hand if you said “Stab ‘em with the pointy end” and “Not today” out loud. The fact that Sam kept not dying adds credence to the theory that he will write the Song of Ice and Fire. He needed to be up top to witness what happened. One of the creepiest moments for me was when the dead made themselves into a bridge over the fire trench. The silence in the library scene was very effective. Also, who knew Winterfell had a library? Melisandre didn’t die before dawn as she predicted, technically. Beric died his final death in a crucifixion pose. I disagree that Sansa was being ungrateful. The USA helped GB win WWII; we didn’t colonize them afterwards. Plus she wasn’t cowering. She only went into the crypt because Arya insisted. I’m not surprised the Night King survived dragonfire, but I was kind of expecting his armor to melt and him be more naked. In the Dany/Jorah scene, I kept waiting for Dany to hide in the fire. When the dead came back in the crypt, I was hoping the little girl with the scar would do something brave. But nothing, the little coward. Haha shame on me she’s like 5. Loved Missandei’s sick burn. I’m guessing Arya must have a wee Baratheon in her belly, Does this mean that winter is over?
  10. And all the Emmys go to... That was seriously spectacular. When a TV show makes you FEEL something, the apprehension, the fear, the sense of loss, not like you are watching it but like you are living it, that is something special.
  11. You guys have got me thinking, so here are just few more last minute thoughts: I know we can mostly agree that Qyburn is super creepy, but wouldn’t it be ironic if he somehow figured out how to make his own Frankenstein monster army to fight the AOTD? He’d be the hero of the show. When someone mentions the Onion Knight I always think about that conversation between Shrek and Donkey. In the first scene of this episode, when Dany talked about Jaime killing her father, I wonder why Jaime didn’t mentioned that he did that right after the Mad King killed Ned Stark’s father and brother for no reason. It might have endeared him to the Northerners a bit more. So are the WW Gilly’s brothers? Maybe they will spare her because she’s family. Sansa’s loyalty to the North has made her into one of my favorite characters. She is pretty much the only one who puts her subjects first. And speaking of the Northerners, these are people who have been through a lot at the hands of outsiders. They have been slaughtered by the Wildlings, the Targaryans, the Lannisters, the Freys, the Boltons, and the Greyjoys. Why should they be all warm and fuzzy with these new outsiders, regardless of their color? #teamtormund
  12. So true. Remember Karsi? She was the kickass wildling warrior mom who let her guard down for a split second when she saw the wight children and it was her downfall. God, she was one of the best single episode characters in this whole damn show.
  13. If the NK is targeting Raven Bran because he is the keeper of all knowledge of mankind, the Citadel is toast. Hmm, this makes me think that the people with the Valyrian steel blades will survive.
  14. Bastards must have some right of succession, otherwise Cersei wouldn't have authorized the execution of all of Robert's bastards. It's the reason Gendry went into hiding in the first place.
  15. I think the reason is that the Children of the Forest, who were being wiped out by these new beings called Men, created the Night King specifically for the purpose of destroying Men. It's their only directive.
  16. I still think “breaking the wheel” means literally dividing Westeros back into seven distinct kingdoms. The question is, who would rule them? Here are my picks (assuming any of them survive the wars to come): The North: Jon as the obvious choice here for KITN, with Sansa as his hand. The Vale: As much as we hate it, Robin Arryn is the rightful heir. The Stormlands: Gendry is the reigning Baratheon, and he will have Arya as his Queen. The Reach: There are no more Tyrells, so the Tarlys are up next, and that points to Sam. Love Wilding Queen Gilly! The Westerlands: This is Lannister territory, so Jaime should be king here. I’m sure he can find a castle for Bronn. The Iron Islands/Riverlands: All hail Queen Yara. Dorne: With no surviving Martells, this is up for grabs, so let Dany have it. It’s the most Essos-like of the kingdoms and she would feel most comfortable there.
  17. Gendry and Arya: I have no issues with the sudden change in their relationship. Gendry had been a good friend to a young girl in crisis. When he saw her again he was as surprised as anyone to see the young woman she had become. As a man of few words, his comment “You look … good” is more than sufficient to establish a new romance. And to me the real reason people have issues with it is Gendry’s prematurely receding hairline which makes him look much older than he is. They should have put a wig on him. Arya and Jon: Her face when she hugs him at the end of the reunion scene, omg crying now. Pure bliss. Bran: Or as I like to call him, “Raven Bran.” Aah, I slay me. Anyway, when Jon called him a man and he replied “Almost,” he wasn’t saying he’s still a boy, he was saying he’s not quite human. Jon’s reaction was amazing, almost afraid. Hopefully they will make better use of his powers going forward. Sansa: I totally agree with the poster who noted that she is the most relatable because she has no superpowers. She’s like Xander on Buffy, or Sam from LOTR. Just a regular person who uses their wits to survive. Dany: I’m kind of over her. She is getting a god complex and it’s not pretty. I don’t fault her for executing the Tarlys, or for any of her other decisions really. I just hate her constant veiled threats. The real test will be her reaction to Jon’s news. Also, her daddy killed Ned Stark’s daddy and brother for no reason so why would anyone in the North trust her? Tarlys: And speaking of the Tarlys, I disagree with the poster who said Randyll did nothing to protect Dickon. He definitely gestured for him to bend the knee. Stupid boy gets the Darwin award for not obeying. How ironic that Sam may wind up getting his title back and his heir would be a wildling bastard. Tyrion: He’s always been one of my favorite characters, but he needs to make himself useful and quick, because he is trending downward fast. I can’t wait to see his reunion with Jaime. Dragons: Can someone tell me if the surviving dragons are male or female? I was wondering if they could mate and make more dragons. Iron throne: To break the wheel you have to dismantle this piece of presumably very uncomfortable furniture. Return the seven kingdoms to seven kingdoms. Let each one send a representative to KL to keep peaceful relations. Essos manages without a central leader, so can Westeros. Theon, Jaime, the Hound: Redemption arc candidates. That's a lot for one show. Will any survive? My guess is the Hound, so he can kill the Mountain. Theon and Jaime are toast. Brienne: Need. More. Brienne. Please don’t make her die, Show. She and Tormund need to make great big babies together.
  18. I fully expect at some point she will descend into madness and we will know it when she says "Burn them all!"
  19. I have no issues with a GL calling herself "captain." In the dance team world this is a job description that includes very specific responsibilities such as calling dances, giving feedback, motivation, and other leadership duties. Each GL does this independently for her group, so each is acting as captain.
  20. To be fair, in Victoria's lyrical video, she is the only one doing a triple and in bare feet no less. Some of those girls couldn't even do a clean double. The DCC don't do a lot of turns and nothing over a double, so practicing triples is how to perfect your double. Now if this were a performance and not a class I would be more critical.
  21. Here's a four year update. By winter break of her freshman year she realized how much she missed dance team so in the spring she tried out for sophomore year. She loved it and earned rookie of the year. Now she is a senior and captain of the team. She plans on staying in Dallas but she wants to focus on her new career and so has decided not to try out for DCC. I think she is the total package (great dancer, very pretty, perfect figure, mature, likeable, and professional) and very comparable to the girls in this year's rookie class. Still, with an audition process anything can happen. No one is a shoo in and there are a lot of talented girls out there, so making the team is always a long shot. I guess we will never know! I was just out there to visit and recorded a routine. It's a little glitchy and the dance is kind of simple, but what can you do. She's front, second from the left. https://1drv.ms/v/s!ApM8UJndzybJgotqbYcmmWhBncpzDw
  22. OMG this was filmed at a high school in my neighborhood, Green Valley High School. In fact, my daughter has danced in competitions in that very gym.
  23. How much do the girls make for a minor appearance that takes just an hour or so?
  24. I can't believe how many teams still wear the go go boots. They are so dated and ugly.
  25. Call me crazy, but I kind of dig the Patriots uniform. Very classic and collegiate and what cheerleaders should look like IMO
