  1. that sounds like compromise! I recall Hex suggesting something like that. but I don't think Jon was going to compromise on the nudity. not at all. might be simple to do odd days / even days.
  2. one of the first things several people did was strip down and swim / sunbathe. since that's want they want in utopia, that's what they should have. I hope they stick together when others insist they keep their clothes on. I will be disappointed if they cave. Jon is gone now. I doubt they let him return, because he will have too much information. I don't know what he was expecting - maybe that everyone would be deferential and happy to let him tell them how to live their lives ? I think I saw him do a little work, but it doesn't seem like it was a lot of work. They finally let the chickens out! That took long enough.
  3. My favorite line of the episode belongs to Hex: "We're going to lose our {{rooster}}." don't know why she thought that particular chicken would run away. a minute earlier, the chicken door was opened, and they calmly walked out. those loose chickens immediately started happily pecking away (eating stuff on the ground). when the new guy walks by Nikki and Josh, she says to Josh, "You have competition." haha, funny look on his face then.
  4. them thar chicks ain't nekked. they's covered in feathers!
  5. I wonder if Amanda has influenced Aaron's position on this, either by speaking to him about it or because he noticed her being uncomfortable about it. is Amanda the only woman who has not been naked?
  6. the low interest might make them wonder about the popularity of the show...... "Is anyone watching us?" taskrabbit! let's hire a person to go in there and take a class, then report on it.
  7. make stuff first, then sell the items as unique pieces. . not mass production. each piece of blown glass would be slightly different. maybe on a website, show a picture of the exact item being offered. if the equipment is there, could do both - make unique pieces and sell them , AND give classes. the sales would help bring in students. I've been shying away from service concepts where people come into the compound, because it would be distorted by people who just want to (maybe) be on tv. I considered making videos (DVDs) for sale, but I think everyone just goes to youtube nowadays --------------------- if their entrepreneur got on the glassblowing quickly enough, they might be able to rent the equipment. if someone has the stuff sitting around, they might take 20% of the gross as equipment rental. or something like that. there are many possibilities for hand-made jewelry, necklaces, charms, etc. custom work would be possible. probably cheaper tools than the glassblowing equipment. sprinkle the jewelry with some new age yoga utopian fairy dust and it will sell! --------------- also, what are they doing with the milk from the cows? also also, how soon till people start forming voting "alliances" ?
  8. I don't think five acres in a dry climate like that can provide food for fifteen people. so they will have to earn money to buy food. It might be possible to buy food for the group for $1,500 a month - simple foods, bought in bulk. sell one $50 item per day and you make $1,500 per month. I think they should get that glass blower guy set up, and start making things! they could also make jewelry, bracelets, necklaces, and charms and stuff. create a brand name for the stuff. they would need to buy some raw materials and tools. and it might take some time to figure out a process, design some merchandise, then produce and market it. start now. ----------------------------- Dave is gone. I am trying to remember if he did any work while he was there. Anyone remember?
  9. well, Dave is gone. when he came back in briefly, it looked like he got a little choked up when he finally realized the group was not going to let him return. scratch one life-changing opportunity. the whole thing had the potential to keep him off the street for three years, IMO. one year living in the show, and the cast money he would have received could have been rationed to provide food and shelter for another two years (cheap living in a cheap cost of living area). IMO, the group is too small, stressed, and vulnerable to give violence multiple chances.
  10. typically, deer are bred in late fall, and have their young in the spring. any fawns in that area were very likely already weaned. the state takes that into account when they set hunting season dates.
  11. some stories are saying $50 million. maybe they were hoping for a franchise home run, like Survivor
  12. I can see it now. The Closing Ceremonies. Everyone remaining gets a Utopia tattoo, and they ring the bell fifteen times. slowly. solemnly. if Red is still there, he runs around and tears stuff up. Dave jumps over the back fence and helps. Both are ranting about rich people's electricity and pop tarts.
  13. I thought he looked like the dude on the monopoly game box how did it get there? did he do some work?
  14. not just Dave. Aaron contributed to the stereotype, too. (don't touch me or else!) ha. the early hookups reminds me MTV's Real World. I missed the first few minutes of the show. when the narrator showed up later, my first impression was "that's odd." I thought the benefit of those movable chicken coops was the availability of new bugs for the chickens to eat. they clean out the bugs in one spot, then you slide it over some fresh grass and let them eat more bugs. free natural healthy food for the chickens, fewer bugs. Jon might have been expecting them to *need* him. but he found that half the group didn't even care.
  15. well, that blurb certainly suggests a lot of drama!
  16. I missed some of the Mandy scenes, but one small thing makes me wonder if she is ready for such a dangerous environment. she was walking up the plank (?) and about to step onto/over the gunwale of the boat........... with her hands in her pockets! like, what could possibly go wrong? About the same time I noticed it, Sig says , "Hands out of your pockets!". :)
  17. yes! I noticed the leather jackets, too.
  18. eight grownups and one kid............. living in a one-room cabin. does that sound like a good plan? a (mentally) healthy plan? not to me. why would you do that to your sons in their 20s and 30s?
  19. it was touching to see Junior's wife wiping away his tears while he was lying in the bed
  20. You're right about that, especially seeing the water pour in through the window. when the rescued crew was all on board and out of their survival suits, the camera panned across the group. they were just standing silently, looking stunned.
  21. I noticed Pete's hair. Usually I don't notice the actors' hair. Since I missed the frst ten minutes of the show, I thought the hair was due to something I missed.
  22. I would have preferred Myka and Pete agreeing to go on a date. "A DATE date?" "Yeah, a real date." "OK" They are shown in a classic muscle car, at a drive-in movie. (there are a few left) MTM and Mr. Grant did that, IIRC. :)
  23. nah. I just want to know about the crab in the tanks that were caught "out of bounds".
