  1. Robyn saying and sighing I'm trying to wrap my mind around why she needs to do this in reference to Meri wanting to finish college. That's a fairly common goal people have and Robyn is so self-absorbed all she can relate it to is how it's going to affect her.
  2. I doubt there will be much of a do at the reception. Derick is still southern Baptist and they don't allow drinking and dancing in the church halls. I've seen Jill and Jessa in heels and maybe Jana.
  3. ::shudders:: June said it was injured in a forklift accident and she usually wears socks. The one time she took off the sock it looked like gnats flew away from the deformed and possibly infected toenail.
  4. We/they have a week to go. The ceremony is next Saturday. I read somewhere that Taco Bell and a burger place, maybe Burger King, were now on the registry.
  5. The Duggars don't seem charity minded unless it's a photo op or episode plot. I've always wondered if they take a collection at the services they lead and what happens to that money. A relative married recently and didn't need much for the new home they bought together so had two very small registries and no showers. Some of the guests did something I'd never thought about doing. They bought gift cards for the restaurant where the reception was held providing either help paying for the reception or a future dinner at a restaurant the couple liked.
  6. One of my salt of the earth friends and I were talking last night and I brought up the beach discussion. She said would you let the child decide to never eat broccoli based on one taste? The child should go to the beach regularly to have the opportunity to get used to it. My youngest screamed like a banshee on the first trip to the beach and clung to me. Yet, two years later begged to go every weekend. Kids are like that.
  7. Not to mention it wasn't Jen who planned her birthday weekend. We're supposed to believe it was Bill and he picked something he knew she liked. Zoey seemed quite happy with the experience so three out of four family members were quite happy and Will didn't seem to find it horrible. He got involved in some of the activities. He didn't seem to like the feel of sand on his feet so he kept his shoes on most of the time.
  8. It was Jen's birthday. They made a great effort to do something they thought Will would like for his birthday. He wasn't actively miserable although he might prefer the zoo or the park.
  9. I think if Amy had the drive and voice to have a music career, she'd have had one several years ago.
  10. I doubt with the show salary that Meri will qualify for much aid. Undergraduate classes are less than $200 a unit so she won't be going broke on college any time soon.
  11. I think they keep the guns in a locked closet. I seem to remember an episode where one of the daughters opened a closet with guns in it.
  12. Of all the things Meri could be doing, finishing college is in the top two I'd suggest to her. Getting a part-time job would be there also. I'm guessing that with the show they don't feel the pressure to work, but putting in some Social Security credits, job experience, and some savings would be a positive thing to do rather than fiddle with the losing joorey business, scrapbooking, or sitting around doing nothing.
  13. This episode's viewership: 2.898 M viewers and a .8 rating.
  14. I'll give you another example. An infant is in a movie. All the infant has to do is sleep and be passed from one person to another. It's no impact on the infant. So they shouldn't be paid, right? How long do you think the guild would let that happen? The idea that the kids aren't working is the theory the production companies have used to try to NOT pay the children and to avoid following all those pesky workplace rules and regulations that would keep them from working those twelve hour days.
  15. As long as her father acknowledged he was the father Jordan could have been the name on the birth certificate. Viewership for the episode: 1.591 M viewers and a .5 rating.
  16. I have never and would never equate the Klein children as being the same as children working in a sweat shop. What I do see though is that are working. If Bill and Jen are working, then Will and Zoey are working. That means some portion of the payment for the show should be put in trust for Will and Zoey. That means there should be restrictions on the hours and conditions under which they work. Being children, to me, means we should take more care of them than adults, not less. Eating a cookie in front of television cameras and waiting around to do something until the lighting is set up and having to go do an activity on a certain day whether you feel like it or not is under these conditions work. It isn't a sweat shop but there is a lot of ground in my view between a sweat shop and not working at all. I don't think that it may not be horrible work means that as a society we should abandon children to the not so tender mercies of reality television production. It isn't the same thing at all to me as having an occasional photo taken. Twelve hour days are grueling for adults. Even several four hour days of filming in a row can be taxing on children.
  17. Meri actually makes out even better because both she and Kody are on the mortgage for that house. She could be getting half the mortgage money from him. They split the TLC earnings five ways so Kody should be contributing if you think about it mortgage only.
  18. They used to promote Quiverful on their old website. About the time they got the show such references began disappearing.
  19. I believe one of them switched to a combined high school/college program.
  20. Viewership for Sunday: 1.614 M viewers and a .6 rating. If the family doesn't have some new drama naturally I'll be looking to see what production dreams up.
  21. I think that they only count actual children not miscarriages. Jubilee was actually a miscarriage not a stillbirth albeit a very late miscarriage. They tend to say x children on earth and y in heaven if they follow standard fundie speak.
  22. I doubt the book brought in huge chunks of cash. Not even one copy was purchased for our county library system and there are not big displays of it in stores. In fact I haven't even seen a copy anywhere. Apparently to read it, I'll have to get it from Amazon and I'm refusing. Not to mention, they'll be splitting what profits they do get at least four ways if not more.
  23. I think they may use pajamas at home when not filming. They don't want any but the very youngest filmed in other than street clothing. So they either sleep in regular clothes when the film crew is there or get up and change before answering the door for the crew.
