Talking Dead: Where Chris Hardwick Got His Groove Back
peach replied to Skyfall's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
Originally, it was half an hour. I don't remember when they changed it to an hour. 30 min was okay for some wrap-up and behind the scenes, but an hour is tedious. I agree, the random guests are mostly terrible, although I like YNB because she actually, truly watches it and knows what's going on. Good point. They also painted themselves into a corner by starting the trend of the latest deceased character to appear on the couch, because then they had to explain that along with the cliff hanger of Glenn. -
I think Growing Pains did it, too.

Daryl has to be "outside the camp" as it were, because he's going to come save the day at some critical moment. Like when he left the prison with Merle, but he came back in the nick of time and put a bolt in that walker that was about to chomp on Rick at the fence. Great scene. Or when Carol was out there abandoned so she could save the whole gang at Terminus. Anyway, Daryl's a loner. Glenn died partly because of him. His best friend is dead now, too. Carol is busy with her Hilltop family. The woods are his home.

My personal opinion is that they are just copying from A Quiet Place since that was such a huge hit. Although, our intrepid crew can't seem to hear zombies shuffling through the woods, either. Or tanks. Or helicopters. My issue with a deaf character is that I have to watch the subtitles instead of barely watch and half listen while surfing the net at the same time.

Yes, the six years is crazy. That's longer than the previous 8 seasons, like twice as long! This is the price the story has to pay for the amount of time required to get Judith to the Carl Replacement age, but it takes a toll on the other stories. OTOH, after you've mated with the intense ZA version of Rick Grimes (not Lori's version), it's probably hard to find a replacement. She's an alpha widow.

I never liked Rosita with Abraham either. Or Sasha with him. He was just such a cartoon character, and those two women seemed like real people. I don't "get" this pairing, but I did think, at least Father Gabriel is super great to her, unlike Abe.

Agree, and not only does Judith not know her mother, but Michonne is her only parent at all now. Plus she has a half-brother, too. Michonne IS her mom. As for Henry, it doesn't bother me. We don't really know anything about his background. Some kids call their stepparents Mom or Dad without the ZA going on. The ridiculous one to me is Gracie. Rick kills this baby's dad, and then Aaron walks up bawling because his boyfriend died literally 30 seconds ago, and he's like, here, give me that baby right now to raise in my grief. And Rick's like, sounds legit, HERE. LOL So stupid.

Is she giving him a sponge bath??

At least when Carl did it, it was slightly more realistic. Didn't he find them in the tombs and bring them back? Then pleaded to keep them? I don't remember all the way. IIRC everyone was a little more unsure what to do. But this "if they don't go, I don't go" was totally absurd. I may just be being nostalgic, however. lol One of my favorite Carl scenes was when Rick changed his mind and brought everyone in from Woodbury, and Carl got so mad he threw Rick's star in the dirt, because he was so g-damn inconsistent. It reminds me of Scott Evil. "First I'm not evil enough, now I'm TOO evil?!" Agree about Carol's hair. Hopefully it's temporary and some new circumstances...saaaay, lighting people on fire like a boss...causes her to cut it back short. Good luck finding someone to do it correctly NOW, Carol! Sidenote: I turned on Netflix tonight, and there's a thumbnail for TWD, and it's a pic of Negan holding his damn bat. Ouch. COME BACK, RICK!

I have to say that little Cailey Fleming was much more charming as her natural self in that clip than the "acting" as Judith. I hope she gets better on the show. And that they stop writing scenes where she orders around adults and they comply.

I feel guilty watching this show because I feel they deserve to be punished for Chandler. But I did, and as I mentioned in the live thread, Angela Kang has performed a miracle by FINALLY getting this show into normal television pacing, where they switch between several character plotlines in a timely fashion!! And it's about THE REAL characters. So I give her much credit. Plus she isn't the Carl murderer anyway. I liked everything with Michonne, the toy sheriff, wearing Rick's shirt. That hit all the right notes, but of course, we also know he's alive so it makes it weird. I liked everything with Carol, and I even like Henry. Remember when we were lucky to have even ONE of them focused on in an episode? Rosita and FPP is just whatever. Stupid, but I don't actually care about it either, or Eugene. New people were fine. I kind of laughed that Michonne giving in was dumping them at Hilltop. lol I don't like Judith, but maybe she will get more natural as time goes on. I just don't want them forcing her down my throat, and seeing her styled like Carl and bigger than Dallas on the season poster really annoys. The Negan stuff is outrageous. He's irredeemable, but I guess redeemin's what he's gonna get. I don't who gets the credit for him at least acting and speaking like a normal person, but thank God for that. Michonne will probably get in a relationship with him so it can be Shane and Lori all over again, except worse. I guess this is back to being my Sunday fold the laundry show, because at least something is HAPPENING.

Numbers don't care. lol

Maybe Judith is so tiny they have to keep her little brother on the small side.
-
I bet this has always driven her crazy, and she finally got to fix it. It's a standard formula, there has never been any excuse for how bad it was.
-
BOTH HENRYS ARE SOPHIA'S BROTHERS? That is kinda cool. Unpopular opinion: I like teen Henry.
-
Angela Kang has performed a miracle. This show has normal television episode pacing for the first time EVER.
-
I'm way behind, but I have to confess the little toy sheriff tugged at my heart. But Judith is awful.
-
I think the osso busco guy was on Z Nation.
-
This all sounds hate watchable, but my husband is making me watch those other dumbasses in the woods on Naked and Afraid.
-
TPTB acted like it didn't happen.
-
That isn't a joke that she us on the council??
-
I'm not even watching this and just can feel how annoying Judith is, and I cosign.
-
That Lizzy kid had some gravitas. This Judith one should be on a show where she does something awkwardly cute in a spelling bee. Maybe on the CW or Nick where she can measure all her lines with a nod and everyone laughs and claps.

Totally agree! Plus the actress is more suitable for a Welch's grape juice ad.
