  1. "And I think it's hilarious that "he didn't win last season or the season before" is meant to refute the claims that he generally gets favorable treatment. So he went an entire year without hoisting another mirrorball trophy, the horror. I don't know how he coped." Again, you worry too much about Derek's influence. Favorable treatment did not hand him the mirrorball trophy all the seasons he's been on. Just vote for your favorite and focus on all things non-Derek. You'll be surprised how much more enjoyable the show is when you do that.
  2. Y'all worry about Derek too much. He didn't win last season nor the one before. Amber deserved to win her season with him. We have seen that having an athlete does not guarantee a win, not even for Derek. We've also seen that despite having his sister on the panel last season and having a young, popular partner, he still didn't win. He is creative and entertaining, so I have no complaints that he's back. The most egregious inclusion for me is Allison Holker.
  3. This is just the unwaxed version of Jason.
  4. "Alfonso was great last night. I really like what he and Whitney have. I have a feeling that they are on equal ground and both contribute to the moves in the dances." I don't know how much Alfonso contributes to the dances because many of the "hip hop" moves that Whitney incorporates into their routines are very common on So You Think You Can Dance and I don't think Alfonso knows enough about ballroom or latin to be contributing much in those areas either. I think Witney runs the choreography show and maybe Alfonso offers a few suggestions here and there.
  5. I am no longer able to watch Allison on DWTS. It is just plain awkward to watch her struggle. She looks like the amateur ballroom dancer she is and I am more curious than ever to know whose decision it was to hire her. They did her and her partner a huge disservice. From now on I will just come here to see what you guys think of her performance. I am looking away from car wreck.
  6. Jake, Caroline, and Sunetra were the best this week. I want so badly for Pasha to get the mirror ball for this season.
  7. Dancingjaneway, on 30 Sept 2014 - 09:39 AM, said: " I also think the reason why he stays with this show is because he knows that if he ever went out and tried to get a job somewhere else they would call him on his crap and he probably wouldn't be the star he is now. This show has catered to his ego and he better hope this show never gets cancelled. " What is the crap they would call him on? I think he is a good choreographer. I don't think any of the praise he gets is unjustified or undeserved. If the praise was spread around a bit more or other dancers were highlighted as much as he is, many of the complainers would have no problem with Derek and his obvious talent.
  8. Caroline was the best for me this week. She is in good hands with Pasha. I didn't like the song they used though.
  9. "Why didn't they use a 16 or 17 year old? Probably because they wanted a pre-pubscent girl. Like I said, this has got to be every pedophile's dream." I think using an underdeveloped girl is much safer than using an adolescent. No worries about showing boobs, etc. I thought nothing sexual of the performance. It doesn't matter what you wear, people who fetishize certain things and people will find you sexual even if you are covered up. Who really thinks putting that child in black would stop a pedophile from fantasizing about her? I thought the performance was quirky, a little strange, but entertaining.
  10. I feel so sorry for Allison. She has no business being a pro on this show. It's like sending a dentist to do heart surgery. In the troupe is where she should have been placed for a good two or three seasons. She looks very amateurish and Jonathan is being done a disservice.
  11. Bunchy's story wasn't given too many minutes, but it was the most gripping part off this week's episode. I was so happy he was forming what seemed to be a nice, adult, romantic relationship. He needs a lot of help, but I think a healthy sexual relationship with an adult is one of the remedies. It seems his only experience has been as a child with the priest.
  12. Let's wait and see what happens with Allison on DWTS. I don't understand the decision to hire a contemporary dancer on a ballroom show, but it's done and now we wait to see what she brings to the floor. I don't think the fact that she is well loved by viewers of SYTYCD means much. That show is not some ratings juggernaut for it to have any relevance here. She will have to prove herself and I hope she is researching like hell.
  13. Who did ya'll think was going to sign up for the show? Dancing with the Stars has never been about really big celebrities. Who remembers the cast (pros and stars) from the first season? I didn't know any of the pros and I barely knew the stars, but the show became a hit from there. So, I think, the audience just wants to be entertained. The show has never needed superstars.
  14. I just don't understand why they didn't put Allison in the troupe if they wanted to hire her so badly. She is a wonderful dancer and picks up the ballroom choreography (she has gotten to do) well, but there is a world of difference between being a good student and being a good teacher. How can she teach something she doesn't fully know herself? A lot of the contemporary done on DWTS has been unintentionally ugly, untechnical, and overly dramatic because the pros are not trained to teach it, so they and the stars just flail about with their flexed feet. Also, the judges don't know how to judge it because they too don't know what to look for aside from good acting.
  15. I was hoping that was a placebo that they gave Bunchy. His problem is psychological, not physical.
  16. Preex, it doesn't matter that DWTS has added a bit of contemporary and jazz, it is a Ballroom show. The fact that Allison has danced Tango before doesn't mean she knows how to choreograph it properly or instruct a complete novice on the rules or how to hold one's body during a particular dance. This is strangest decision I've ever seen made on the show and I find it quite disrespectful to the true Ballroom experts. The producers are essentially saying anyone can do what they do.
