How does one "accidentally" stab an old woman eight times? -
The average audience score for The Old Man is 84%. I don't know. I like it. 🤠

I liked it. I think a lot of other people liked it too, as it has a 95% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes (although, based on Barry's storyline this past season, that doesn't mean much to TV execs. 😁). I did think the bouncing around in the boat was a bit ridiculous, but I'm still wanting to watch. I actually loved it when Harper said, "The old man's got her." Because, and I bet lots of other people thought this as well, I thought Jeff Bridges' character was The Old Man. This turned a lot of the story on it's head for me. I thought it was clear that Zoe decided to go along with Chase, partly to protect her asset, but also she is intrigued by him, and her life the past few years has not been all that exciting. She's not kidnapped any longer, by this episode. This review explains a lot. (You get several free articles from this site. If you're on Vulture a lot, you might not be able to read without a subscription.) Spy stories are generally convoluted and difficult to follow if you aren't familiar with the genre.

S02.E04: Here's Looking at You

There is still the loose end of why Tim's phone was not sent to be examined, and why the detective's requests for drug testing on Tim's body were not sent. I don't believe it's because she's incompetent, but rather, someone was messing with the investigation, to prevent something from being discovered. Does Jan have friends in the police department? -

I think Mabel said "hot goss" because that was how Howard phrased it to her. She was saying he was on his way to share some "hot goss" and I thought she said it like she was putting air quotes on it. I don't think it's something she would regularly use. You're doing better than me if you understood Lucy talking about the top 100 and the mental health Tik Tok channel. 🤣 -

As long as we figure out who put the notes on Oliver's and Jan's doors, and who poisoned poor Winnie last season. -
Love this show and am sad and shocked that there is not more love for it here on the forums. So well written and acted! Kudos for all the Emmy noms they received for this season. Huzzah!

I love this show a lot, but Barry is tough competition, and I also love that show a lot. I'll root for 'em all! -

Hiring someone would break the murder mystery rules of fair play, though, I think. Maybe not. But the rules of fair play mean that the murderer has to be introduced to the reader/viewer pretty early in the book/show/movie. -

I can get behind the idea that the person Lucy saw/heard in the passageway the night of Bunny's murder may have not been the murderer, but it's too soon for someone to be looking to "frame" the trio for the murder of Bunny. If Theo and Teddy wanted revenge (and it looks like Theo does NOT), framing the trio for murder would be a great way to go about it. But would Teddy commit actual murder while awaiting trial? So, we've been shown someone getting off the elevator on Bunny's floor at the time the trio are headed up to the roof. That person may not have been the murderer. Then we are shown someone in the secret passageway, with a mask and booties on, coming from ? (Charles lives on a different floor from Bunny). It is annoying that Lucy didn't make clearer to Charles what she saw or heard, and whether she had been living in the walls for two weeks. Also, I don't think it was a dirigible that Nina wants to put on the top of the Arconia, but more apartments in a super modern structure built up on top of the original building. I mostly enjoyed this episode, but not as much as the previous episode. 😁 -

Namaste! -
I thought there was a discussion going on about what is real vs. what is "magic," but it might not be explained away. I'm not Dine, so I guess I don't believe in the witch, but "there are more thing in heaven and earth ..." so I'll just have to go along. It bothers me that Bernadette is so helpless against the witch.

I still love this series, but in tonight's episode (5), I was taken out of the story by Joe's keys jingling whenever he moved. I don't know how he expected to sneak up on anyone if he was making so much noise. And I'm not sure they're going to explain away the witchcraft, at least not this season. Bernadette keeps being affected by it

In one of the flashback scenes, when they were riding out to capture the Russian commander, I thought it was Abbey Chase's sister (or Hamzhad's sister) that was speaking to young Dan Chase, not Abbey's ghost. The sister seemed to distrust the relationship between Dan and Abbey, Or did I make it up?

I understood Harper to have only figured out who Emily/Angela was just before they boarded the plane. So she fooled him for quite some time. Thus his anger in the those scenes on the plane and in the records office. He'd been played by both Bote and Chase. I had hoped that the story would reveal that Harper had known all along, but apparently he had not. Chase was aware of how far his daughter had risen in her career and also Morgan Bote was aware of her, because he helped Chase hide her there. Bote seems to be trying to decide which "son" he's going to back in this big power play. Maybe he's hoping to get rid of both. I wonder what Zoe said/did to poor Zachary, to get him to go along with Dan's plan.

Plus, last year Bunny told him there had been numerous complaints about smells coming from his apartment. 😨 I don't think they're making him obvious. I'm curious about how interested he is in Mrs. Gambolini. All the people who were at the board meeting, someone had a key to Bunny's apartment to get in to do the decorations. I was thinking (musing) along the lines of Jan was trying to steer the trio toward Howard as a possible suspect in Tim Kono's murder, wouldn't it be interesting if she saw something in Howard? I don't know, it's just fun to speculate. 🥳 -

Howard is the killer. Based on him being a suspect last season. Ha! -

I have similar thoughts for all the people they had to walk past when they were taken into custody at the end of season 1. Was the murderer there, watching them be arrested? -

Which episode did Jan first appear in, in Season 1? It's possible we've not yet met the murderer, but that's not playing fair with the audience. The murderer should be introduced early early in a book, movie, or tv show. -
S02.E03: The Last Day of Bunny Folger
cardigirl replied to jenrising's topic in Only Murders In The Building
Thanks for reminding me about the blood in Mabel's apartment, vs. any discussion of Bunny's apartment being the scene of where she was stabbed. Is it possible that Bunny ran out of her apartment toward Mabel's apartment in hope of getting help and the stabbing took place in Mabel's apartment, so the evidence is all there? Poor Bunny. Also, if the murderer is Alice (art cooperative person), having been in Mabel's apartment would give her motive to stay close to Mabel and the investigation. Didn't Alice say she was impressed with Mabel's wall mural? Was that published in the newspapers after the Mabel was accused of killing Bunny? Otherwise, how would Alice have seen it? 😲 -

They did that for episode 2 as well. Last season she was walking a pug, although we never saw her with one. -

Not sure where to ask this. I've searched and searched for the "Easter egg" in the opening to episode 3 of season 2 and cannot see it. One reviewer said it was a bottle of champagne and a cork between Charles' and Oliver's windows. Could someone post a screenshot if they have seen it? Thanks very much!!! -
I guess I am in the minority, because I thought this was a better episode than the previous two. I enjoy this series, and looked forward to it returning. For me, the country house murder mystery is such a classic trope, and of course, done during a blizzard so the characters are even more isolated, that I really settled in and enjoyed the watch. Don't care if Win didn't behave as most here thought she should. When your child is missing and you're not sure what happened, it will change you. Families often say the cruelest, most cutting things to each other and it is born out of fear. The fear of the worst possible outcome, the fear that you may actually be at fault or failed your child, the fear of someone not being who you thought they were. All of that was probably driving her speeches to Fred and Joan. The fact that she was so fiery proved to me how much she loves her family and is terrorized by the thought of losing them all. Indifference would be more scary. Heck, I think fear drives Endeavour too. Fear of being hurt even more than he already had been. Bright has had his worst fears realized, and he's able to continue on. He cares about his men. He cares about his job. Fred Thursday also has his fears, but seems better at not lashing out (at least this season). I enjoyed Inspector Morse when in originally aired (oops, just gave a clue to my age) but find it hard watching sometimes these days. I also enjoyed Lewis but mostly because of Kevin Whately's performance. I'm looking forward to the final season of Endeavour and will be sad to say goodbye to such wonderful characters. I do have one complaint about this series and I've said it before. I cannot stand that they created a role for John Thaw's daughter as Abigail Frazil, reporter extraordinaire. I roll my eyes at her every time she pops up on the screen. UGH. She is so artificially put into the stories. Save her screen time for someone else in the show.
