As much as I thought that Jojo deserved the win, I also threw my votes to Iman every week, so I'm not sad about it. All I was really concerned with was the Cult of Peloton recreating Bobby Bones 2.0. I was never so relieved that he was called in third place. Amanda was better than Cody, but I think she lacked the fanbase and was pretty boring. She reminded me of Katherine, who was beaten by Donald Driver. Was she a better dancer? Yeah. But her personality was pretty quiet and bland, and Donald had personality to spare. Same with Iman. And HOW does a man that large, move like that? Daniella was amazing and adorable. All season long, I just kept thinking "Jennifer Grey before she stupidly got a nose job."

Wasn't it Johnny and Tanith? That could be why. Tanith is respectful and Johnny probably doesn't work with her enough to be sassy with her?

Same. I'd rather he actually be a guy that Mere is finally moving on to. NO fucking ghost sex, PLEASE. But looking at Nick definitely tells me that Meredith has a "type." He looks like Patrick Dempsey and Chris O'Donnell had their DNA schmoozed together in a petri dish and implanted in a random woman. And curious Zola talks just like a little Maggie. Brainiacs of a feather.....

Okay, I haven't watched my recording yet, but as far as the two fridge's is concerned. Wouldn't you put the sketchier one in the garage for extra storage and the nicer one in the kitchen? I only had one kid and we had a garagerator for beverages and extra freezer space. Especially because my kitchen is too small for a large capacity fridge.

S04.E06: Young Love, Old Love and Take This Job and Shove It

Jackie trying to get Becky to prioritize her dumpy dead end "sports bar" over actually bettering herself by getting the education that she should have gotten long ago? Do fuck ALL the way off, Jax. I can't with Jackie or Darlene. I hate them both with the white hot intensity of 1000 nuns. I'm watching for Dan, Louise and Becky. -
Exactly what I meant by being BORED. All the ice dances are soft and flowy and snoooooozzzzze. I appreciate C/B not going with the flow (pun intended). And I don't think Vicky's thong was a malfunction. Both cheekies seem to be equally exposed.
-
The usual overscoring of Vicky and Nicky notwithstanding, what is with the THONG? My request to make these dances more exciting does not mean seeing her BUTT CHEEKS for days. Yikes.
-
So, I watched the Free Dance from GP Italy last night on the Olympic Channel. Bored shitless. Too much nice, flowy, violin crap. Don't get me wrong. Beautiful skating, but I was BORRRED. Gabby and Madison's skating dresses are gorgeous. I tuned in just after Greene and Parsons took their fall, but they also have a nice, classical type piece......snooooze. Even Stepanova and Bukin, who I like, seemed to sleep their way through. There's something missing. They're missing a spark. Watching Tessa/Scott and Meryl/Charlie, there was passion and spark. Their free dances were thrilling. I guess I'll have to enjoy those disco original dances to be entertained. And unless Gabby loses her dress again, the OGM is already decided. Yes, it's gorgeous skating. But I keep wanting some Moulin Rouge or Phantom of the Opera passion.

S30.E09: Janet Jackson Night
ChicksDigScars replied to CheshireCat's topic in Dancing With The Stars
Dear Peleton Owners: STOP IT. Cody does not belong anywhere within sniffing distance of the Finals. Good god. I'm sad that Jimmie is gone, but they certainly telegraphed his removal. I'd be fine with Jojo, Suni, and Iman in Finals with either Amanda or Melora. Amanda deserves it more, performance wise, but she seriously bores the shit out of me. -
The cherry on the Bradshaw Hates Rodgers sundae was that his Super Bowl victory came at the expense of Terry's team. So, yeah. I'm sure he was more than happy to jump on this week. Kareem Abdul Jabbar's comments were brutal. And not untrue.

Yeah. I'm not buying that this greasy new look is all for his John Wick Halloween costume. He's a grown ass man, and capable of making his own decisions, but he still looked FINE when he was with Olivia Munn and Danica Patrick. Just saying. Now he looks like he's aged 10 years since he's hooked up with Woodley. And I'm sorry. You cannot play victim of cancel culture, when that's what you've always done to those that disagree with you. Including your FAMILY. Disclaimer. I am a Packers fan (nooooo, really?) I am pissed at him. But, I also know that anyone who watched yesterday's game can see that Jordan Love is not ready for Primetime. Yesterday's result was not Love's fault. MLF called a conservative game. The Special Teams were an abomination. The defense did its job and kept it within striking distance. KC is pretty mediocre this year. Love's stats were better than Mahomes yesterday. I'm putting this loss on Horse Med Boy. Love tried, but he was not ready to have his first start in that kind of environment, with that kind of media attention, due to the actions of QB1. If the Packers are going to maintain a playoff run, Rodgers has to play. Will I cheer for him? I’ll cheer for his performance. I’ll cheer for my TEAM. My respect factor for the man is a different story. I've been a Packers fan since I was a kid. I'm sad. It feels like Favre all over again. Rodgers has gone from MVP, to being made fun of on SNL...and played by Pete Davidson (at least it wasn't Kyle Mooney). Yeah, I wanted him to pull it off so badly, so I could haul out some 1970's O'Jay's goodness and dance around my living room to Love Train. No such luck. It will be interesting to see the reaction when Rodgers returns to Lambeau. I think most are outraged, but there is that faction of fans yelling about "his body, his choice." It will be a mixed bag. My guess is the non-booers are the unvaccinated fans. It will be easy to tell if you're vaccinated, go to the game, and wonder if the drunk next to you has gotten his shots. In opposing stadiums, the booing will be merciless. And I'm here for it. Except Chicago and Minnesota. They can still suck it. :) I'll smile at Detroit booing him. Lions Fans never get to have any fun.

Yeah. Way too little left to the imagination, there. Also in Turin, Elene Gedevanishvili, whose idea of racking up points was to do fifteen variations of a Bielmann in her long program. Girlfriend grabbed her skate boot so many times, I thought it was going to come off in her hand.
-
I agree about Valieva's program being too busy. And there are some weird squatting positions in it. Not elegant. And I can't help it. I HAAAAATE tights over skate boots. And BLACK tights over white skate boots? I cannot stop staring at the fug. That said, I'd prefer her as the OGM favorite over Trusova's awful nothing but quads programs.

Well, Jojo, Iman and Jimmie got my 10 votes each this week. I usually also throw votes to Suni. Every year, it seems that a front runner gets the "scare." "See, you still have to vote. Don't get complacent even though they're getting the highest scores from the judges." As for Spicer being there. He's on a book tour. He was on Maher blathering on with his bullshit on Friday. So, his publicists probably arranged for a camera shot.
-
Is Adam Driver in EVERYTHING, now? Not that I'm complaining, but I hope it doesn't lead to overexposure/backlash. I took a pass on Annette, but I'm looking forward to this.

I haven't watched the Ice Dance yet, but it seems that Green/Parsons have overtaken Carreira/Ponomarenko in the U.S. pecking order? G/P finished 4th and C/P were eighth? Is it the coaching change for C/P? They were #4 in U.S. ice dance before switching to Moir (not counting the year they had to WTD due to a COVID exposure before Nats). Disappointed for C/P.

I was just relieved that "End of Watch" wasn't title code for another main character getting killed off. And Ortiz set off some red flags for me, too. I knew he lied about being in the basement, but when he told Ruzek to stand down and let them get away, that was my first hint that he was a little shady.
-
Yeah, that was kind of a jolt for me, too. I think they need to show Louise changing some of the decor, to reflect that she's not just "spending the night" over at Roseanne and Dan's. She's the lady of the house, now, no matter what the "little Goblin" thinks (tm Harris Healey-Conner....or is it Harris Conner-Healey?)

The difference being that NBC does not just pre-anoint a champion. They obsess over it. They pick at the scab. At the Olympic gymnastic trials, they had their cameras in Simone's face constantly. We had footage of her rooting in her gym bag, helping Jordan Chiles with her hair, all the while, other gymnasts were on the podium, performing and they were NOT showing them AT ALL. It was more compelling to called her the GOAT and let us all watch her wipe her nose as she sat. And the signs were starting to show. Simone won the trials, but she was clearly not her best (but that was still good enough to leave everyone else in the dust). Nathan is getting the Simone treatment, but to his advantage, once he's done, he's off the ice and away from their obsession. Gymnasts have to sit and wait for the next rotation. They can't disappear into the locker rooms. The cameras are always around. The Fanyu's are feeding off this. Social media is a cess pool. Fanyu's tweet more about Nathan than they do about their precioussssss. There are fans that tweet at the ISU and the judges, picking apart every score that they give Nathan. He's the subject of so much petty vitriol. I'm at the point where I wish Hanyu would take his gold medals and his Pooh Bears and just retire. And I know he's a nice guy and he always seems to treat Nathan with kindness. Maybe NBC dialing it back a bit, taking some pressure off Nathan would give Fanyu's less to bitch about? It's like the Virtue/Moir stans on steroids. I hope that this prepared, lovely Vincent keeps it up. It's a distraction for NBC to have someone to share their focus.

Anyone who watched Rami on SNL last week, there was a skit referencing a casting call for a Prince bio-pic and Rami looked incredibly like him. His thin build was perfect, but as "Jordan Peele" said in the skit, no way would they cast a white (Middle Eastern) man in the role. The drama that would cause would be unbelievable. Great skit, though. He had the look. I bought the BoRap Blu Ray (despite seeing the movie constantly on cable) because the entire Live Aid performance was included on the disc. It was chopped for time in the film.

Jesus. WIll NBC not learn from the whole Biles situation? Nathan is the closest thing to Simone, as far as NBC sticking their cameras in their personal space and acting like the Gold is a forgone conclusion. There's a guy in Japan, whose name I hate to bring up because I chose to follow the Figure Skating topic on Twitter and all it is is daily gushing from the Fanyu's. It's nauseating. It makes me root against the skater. But anyway, NBC. STOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPP IT.

I had to laugh at Olivia's comment about Grease being her favorite and watching it on repeat as a child. I certainly hope it was the ABC Family edited version. People forget that the unedited is a bit racy at times. The words to Greased Lightning? Yikes! Side comment: when my son was in fifth grade, I helped chaperone a class bus trip to Chicago. The bus had a VCR with multiple screens so passengers could watch a movie. A TEACHER popped in Grease. My comment, "The unedited version? We could get some parental phone calls on this." Sure enough, when the Rizzo-Kenicke-broken-condom-in-the-back-seat-of-the-car scene came on, I said to the teacher seated in front by the VCR, "Stop the tape. STOP THE TAPE." She looked up and panicked and couldn't get the tape to stop fast enough. I saw the Broadway show with my Nana in the late 70's. Even RACIER. Topic: I adored Jojo and Jenna this week. I knew as soon as they were done, "Here comes the 40," and I'm not even mad about it. I think we're at the point where the really shitty dancers are gone. Yes, Iman is probably who should go next, but he has such a likability that he gets votes. I do think that Olivia has too much negativity around her, because the scandal wasn't that long ago. She's seen as an entitled, spoiled rich girl. It's hard to vote for that, so I wasn't all that shocked to see her in the bottom two. Yeah, I liked Mike this week. I really hate calling him The Miz. I want Suni to do well, but she's still missing that personality factor. She's so quiet and serious. Yeah, not everyone can be Laurie Hernandez, and it would be weird to see Suni suddenly morph into that. It looks like Sasha is trying to bring some kind of spark out of her. Len was always going to pick Olivia to stay. And I think it's the Val factor. With Derek no longer dancing on the show, Val is the popular alpha male. Without Val, the other male pros all blend in with each other. Val, Maks, Derek and Mark all were popular enough to have their own fan base who would vote for them no matter who their partners are. They want to keep those fans happy because the show needs ratings.

Maybe a slightly medicated make up? To keep her from break outs, or something like that? So bizarre.

Chock and Bates finished second to P/C at Finlandia. Love her new costume. I hope it's enough to medal ahead of the Entitlement Twins. My hope is that at the Olympics, they choose both C/B and H/D for the Team competition. It's too much to hope that C/B would be chosen for both the Original Dance and Free Dance. Madison Hubble's head would certainly explode and she and Douche Boy would probably once again not show up to support their teammates. C/B were there in 2018, waving flags and supporting the others. They deserve a shot for a team medal as much as H/D do. Maybe more.

I'm still finding it hard that Louise would simply move into Roseanne's house and not do anything to liven up the "early 70's shag and afghan" decor. The kitchen wallpaper, the paint, the general messy clutter. You'd think that she'd try to freshen up the dreariness. THAT would be a storyline. The kids reaction to her changing their mother's white trash motif.
