When did he say 42?
-
Well that happened. Fantastic scene in the bar. I wasn't feeling the love for Seth the Polish coffee bean roaster. I'm sad Death was killed. The tattoo on Jared's arm (not in the show, a spot entail spoiler that didn't pan out). ..... I wonder if that was just him an his kids messing around. But Jensen, little fart, I think the Purgatory-ish pic on Facebook was a hint. I liked it. It had some rough spots but it felt epic to me.

With Metatron around, I think Cas' story goes into S11.

Jensen made this his Facebook page profile pic. TODAY. While in Europe. That's from Purgatory. Do you think he's yanking out chain? ETA: Sorry catrox...missed that you posted this. I'll leave the picture here just because it's pretty.

*cackles evil-y* Mwhaahahsa. Get 'em fans. Get'em. I am SO glad Misha's put Bob on the hot seat for Charlie. I want the fans to look him in the eye (Singer) and say ' Do BETTER'. Me? I'm not holding a grudge nope nope not at all. *where the hell is that stewardess?I need a drink* Note: this vitriol brought to you from 39,000 ft. I think I see Kansas down there.

Ahhhhhh! 'Kevin?'' And just a reminder, we are halfway so only 1 +.

Possible. Maybe we'll get an answer from a convention.

In bitterness thread there was a discussion of Cyrus' age (that's Nerdy!Stein's name...). My response: Actually, I'm pretty sure he was in college. High schools don't usually have multiple buildings and he was leaving 'Styne Hall'. I think we assume high school because he was getting a ride and bullying behavior is so high school. But then he was also asked by the internet friend when he was coming to California. That's not really high school level chit chat. So, confusing. But I'd say he was old enough to know exactly what was going on. And he was new enough to the actual brutal stuff to possibly run away and make a different life. So, IMO he wasn't a complete innocent but he hadn't taken in any body parts yet and wanted out. So, I think killing him was wrong. Expedient and tidy from a storytelling perspective. But still wrong. A couple of other thoughts on the episode regarding the Stynes and their influence in Shreveport Louisiana. - There was upthread commentary about isn't Dean back up on the most wanted list. I'd say 'not likely'. Those guys were on the Styne payroll. Now all the Stynes are dead. The LAST thing the Sheriff (who likely had the power to hide shit) would want is any evidence whatsoever of a random dude they had under their control later going off and murdering a prominent family. So if Dean didn't clean up any evidence of his rampage in the police station, I'd bet the Sheriff did. - At the house...well the question you have to ask yourself is who is left to tell the tale? There's 3 in the basement and over a dozen upstairs. Some on the lawn. I'd bet the guys outside were brought in and evidence cleaned up by the Stynes themselves while they had Dean tied up in the basement. No good for the neighbors to see dead bodies on the lawn. Inside the house: well let's assume that after hearing that the bunker was in danger, Dean just got his slaughter on and left. No cleanup. I doubt Cas cleaned him out of the crime scene. It's sort of a given on Supernatural that they seem to leave their 'dead' fingerprints every. But I'm not sure that Dean's would have stood out with all the other prints in the house. PLUS...it had to be the Sheriff who found the bodies. Again, I'm going to say 'no way' does he leave the crime scene "as is". There's a shit ton of evidence that the Stynes were Frankensteins. So...either the Sheriff had an "in case of emergency" number to call (not likely, the Stynes were arrogant), or he's cleaning up the mess himself. Perhaps disposing most of the carnage and evidence and then setting the whole house on fire. As Sheriff he can probably prevent investigation. Bottom line: I don't think the events in Shreveport put Dean on anyone's radar. The Sheriff likely covered it all up to protect his ass. And I bet Dean got a chuckle out of leaving that mess behind FOR him to do that. JMO.

Supernatural Bitterness & Unpopular Opinions: You All Suck
SueB replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
Edited: Doh....taking to Prisoner thread.... short version ... he may have been in college. Not sure. -
Dipping my toe into a bit of philosophy here: - Dean's altered state means to me that while his actions were morally wrong -- what he is REQUIRED to do at this point (IMO) is to to eliminate himself as a threat to humanity. Now I don't mean suicide. Besides the fact that he'd just turn into a demon (and be a BIGGER threat), that's just not the answer IMO. To me, the answer is to find a way to get into Purgatory where he can "do no harm" (because I'm presuming a 'dead' soul in Purgatory just reanimates elsewhere). If he can't make it to Purgatory, he needs to go get a beekeepers set-up and get the hell away from people. I think Dean is self-aware enough to KNOW he needs to isolate himself at this point. - I think Dean killing off all the Stynes was 1) in character, 2) justified, and 3) consistent with his job as a hunter. To me the Stynes with what was undoubtedly black-magic influenced bio-engineered body part recycling are classifiable as "monsters". That they used the Book of the Damned as a power source for years and the complete lack of scar tissue on Eldon at the arm says to me they are supernaturally amp'd up. Now Nerdy!Stein was not. And that's what makes his death wrong. So while I'm giving Dean a bit of a pass from an 'altered mind state' perspective, Cas is right -- Dean knows it was wrong. So THAT's what makes Nerdy!Steins death an issue. - Dean's real need for redemption (presuming he tries to isolate himself rather than just going into Liam Neeson kill mode) to me is for: -- Lack of hope -- he's slipped into fatalism. Not that he hasn't earned it, but that's just not the right answer. He needs a realistic plan to either remove the Mark (and I don't think the Book of the Damned is it) or keep himself in check. He was okay IMO until Nerdy!Stein and the Cas beat-down. Now it's time to take action. Otherwise his fatalism -- his belief that he is doomed to kill people due to the Mark -- becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I'm not saying he has to be unrealistically hopeful. I'm saying he's got to stop believing he deserves to be damned. He's a good man. If this was someone else, what advice would Dean give to that person? This is how I want him to start thinking. -- Choosing to take on the Mark in the first place. Again, a decision born out of despair (always a bad state of mind for Dean). He himself seems to have already come to this realization. And to some extent, his rejection of the Book of the Damned IS redemption IMO. He's not going to try to use an uber-dark supernatural force to remove his uber-dark Mark. Good call Dean. To me, that's a redemptive move. Hope this makes sense.

Well I think there's about a million fans who aren't going to sleep tonight until he tweets he's okay. Seriously, I'm worried. It was 1 am in Rome when he tweeted that. I don't mean to raise alarm, BTW, I'm just coming here to vent my anxiety. If Jensen knows what's going on, he'll make sure Jared is okay. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes sure Jared's butt gets on a plane safely. Love those two and their epic friendship.

A couple of months ago Robbie Thomspon, after reading the end of the season in scripts, promised to bring alcohol and a couch to VanCon to conduct fan therapy sessions. Follow Jason Fisher on twitter, https://twitter.com/JasonFischer77. He's in SPN production. He immediately started pouring internet drinks after the Charlie episode. And tweets themes of the day. Robbie tweeted every day during Hellatus. Personally I come here and twitter. I need the support.

D'awwwww Mick Lady, you are so sweet. Thank you. Although I must say, I do think that Robbie and Bobo are HUGE fans of the show and spend hours researching and rewatching episodes to get the best script they can. Interestingly enough, Robbie and others have talked repeatedly about Andrew Dabb being very dedicated. I'm also getting the impression very very shy. Although Dabb rips out hearts, I think he loves the brothers tremendously. For me, Carver tries to be too clever and takes delight in our pain (and thinks that makes it good). Singer swings from interested to 'get a paycheck' IMO. B-L are cashing checks IMO. Klein is just trying to establish herself and I think has a different vision than many fans (she and Raoul, the imaginary gay dragon from TWOP, would get along well because she loves her gore). But when the writers go to the set, it's on their own dime from what I understand. And Jenny has gone up many times. So I think she definitely cares. And Adam Glass spends HOURS buffing ideas on weekends and odd hours. He likes to tweet when he's at the office alone I think. *reads entry* I may be a bit too obsessed with SPN.

I think they simply weren't at the Upfronts because of the convention schedule (England, Rome (now), then Australia). They made a big fuss over the boys last year because it was S10. Not physically being at the upfronts but having the show schedule announced and Pedowitz saying (again) the show goes as long as the ratings hold and the boys want to do it. Now "the ratings hold" IS a bit iffy as they took a marked turndown since moving to Wednesday. And they've kept them on Wednesday. So if the ratings stay right where they are in the fall? IDK if the show gets a 12th year. But I think S11 is absolutely solid for 23 episodes. I think the J's are signed and Mark and Misha are as well (Misha let slip that they put him on a two year contract a while ago). Poster/Summary: The poster has all four on. Yes, it's possible that they won't have Mark (or even Misha) since the poster is just a reuse of the S9 poster (yes, two years ago), zoomed in and turned red. Promo monkeys. But if they wanted to play coy, they would have used a different poster IMO. The entire purpose of the Upfronts is about getting advertising dollars. They listed all four in the cast for the show summary. To put them IN the cast and then yank one for the season is kind of misleading for the advertisers. That's bad business. Cast appearance: They generally trot the "talent" out to mingle and generate buzz. Only J2, I believe, has gone in the past as they are the show leads. It would not surprise me one bit if J2 negotiated not having to do ALL the appearances. They had this world-wide tour on their calendar for MONTHS. And I'll bet real money they'd much rather be in Europe than meeting with advertising people. This is their vacation time and although they are "working" at a convention, the whole week has been filled with tweets from London & Rome. I also recall how EXHAUSTED they were at the media week in September (where again, it was the 10th and they were taken round for lots of interviews and what not). Bottom line; The Upfronts is a chore, not a joy. I think they aren't there because they'd rather be hanging out in Rome with the fans. I think Pedowitz is probably okay with that because it's a pretty solid show. Now if the ratings stay low in the fall, well then we might see "last year" talks. But I don't think we'll see that kinda buzz until November sweeps are in.

I though the was talking about himself. The death of the Sam substitute could have been foreshadowing.

Well I didn't expect that. I figured we were gearing up for a confrontation straight away. But it sure looks like Dean goes on a hunting-spree. With a noticeable body count. Since they show two dead bodies and one is not the girl chained to the bed (and yuck, BTW), it sounds like he's not killing EVERYONE ... just ya know, bad guys. Or bad-guy adjacent. No clue what Death wants but since Dean summoned him, I think it's actually Death. Metatron can't fly without grace. I think Death might be intrigued enough by the "annoying little protazoa" with the Mark of Cain to show. And I don't think he's binding him. And even if he was TRYING to bind Death, Death wouldn't kill him just to be pissy because he would know it was what Dean wanted. I gotta say, as "Plan B's" go, I like calling Death as a option. He's always been straight with Dean. I know Dean admires him. And THAT is a weird-ass comment.

mmpppfff....WTH??! Where AM I? Oh, Damn. Sorry, on a bit of a bender after last night's episode...kinda don't remember how I got here *stumbles out, knocking over a lamp* Kinda his go-to. I'm pretty sure the plot of Supernatural depends on it. With no pictures (yet): - Did you notice the DEAD BODY next to the work table and bowl full of blood Rowena is talking into??? Misha said TFW were awful people at the end of this year. I'm sure Cas wouldn't support killing a person but I could see somehow Rowena killing someone without Cas or Sam there and draining them of blood. I think Rowena is going to remind us she MUST DIE. At this point, she's gotten most of what she wants ... she's read the entire book now. She's too dangerous to live. So.. I don't see her getting out alive. Note: Dead body had jeans on I think. I'm thinking pizza guy or something. Not Crowley. - Interesting enough, though, we have Sam and Cas arguing over the table about needing to use the book. But WHERE'S ROWENA? In the powder room? And why is Sam trying to read it, or do a translation? I just wonder if somehow this is towards the very end and Rowena is dead and now Sam is taking over. - But we KNOW: Sam and Dean fight (I think in the bunker) and Cas gets between a Rowena/Crowley battle (per the write-up) and gets the blood eyes (per gag reel footage snapshot from wrap party). So...I'm all screwed up on timeline right now. What if Dean makes a Deal with Death that rids him of the Mark -- and the consequence of Sam doing a spell out of the Book of the Damned is to kill Death. That would be a "Fan Favorite" character (per Jensen). And fandom would be pissed at Sam if he did it (sorry AwesomeO). And just to make it worse, it would be some situation where Dean looked like he had a solution and Sam ... working apart from him (symbology!)... screws it up by casting a spell**. I could see a sigh of relief (when Death fixes Dean) followed immediately by some huge Biblical consequence from Sam's de-cursing spell. I think poor AwesomeO may be right...Sam is being set up for a reverse Dean plot: first Charlie is killed (aka Kevin equivalent) and then Sam does a desperate act to save Dean (against his expressed wishes) and shit gets worse. And it's compounded because Dean found the solution with Death (that probably involved some horrific immortal consequence for Dean that he was okay paying but that Sam would not be....oh look, another 'possession' parallel). **Note: I say Sam screws it up by casting a spell in direct opposition to what Dean wants ... but we just had Dean cross a moral event horizon for many fans ... I'm pretty sure Sam sees it the same way and as justification to do what he has to. And it's a defensible position IMO. Which, if this speculation (and it's JUST SPECULATION!) is right... - I owe Dark Chocolate Chip cookies to AwesomeO - I'm going to personally give shit to Mr. Ackles if I get a chance to at MinnCon for saying he liked the finale. Because that would be AWFUL for Sam.
