  1. "Back UP ... for grabs." And don't forget that he looks at his feet when the guys are coming on in. Speaking of creative tribe names, how about "Murlonio" (Redemption Island)? Rob said it was Spanish for "from the sea, united," but was actually the name of one of Amber's stuffed animals.
  2. I just saw the Redemption Island family visit episode (where Mike foregoes his visit with his mom so that the Ometepe 6 could have their family visits), and can I just say, and maybe I'll lose my Survivor Fan Cred Card, I LOVE the family visit episodes. Just love them. They never fail to make me cry. I'm such a sucker. And I don't care.
  3. I feel like if you win the preheat, it's yours to lose, and Jasmin didn't. I definitely felt bad for Jessica too.
  4. Am watching this one too. I'll say this: I'm a total Rob fanboy, and I enjoy watching him work. But after this season, I think I've had enough. I'm glad he hasn't come back to this or any other show (that I know of!). I definitely agree with you, @Lamb18, the non-Rob/Russell players know what they're doing. Which, to me, makes Rob's control quite amazing. How is he dragging Phil? He must be playing everyone against the other; we just never get to see that. Julie does look like T-Bird with muscles.
  5. For me, it was Talk Soup, and I've liked him ever since (although at first I was upset that he replaced Greg Kinnear). Before he went mostly gray, he had a very distinctive patch of gray on the right side of his head, which he was born with.
  6. Agreed. It's becoming the Halloween Decorating (and not much of that!) Championship.
  7. The long shot of Ozzy flying over the surface of the water remains an indelible Survivor memory for me (starts at 1:29; shows @SVNBob point about throwing the stick and grabbing the key).
  8. Try This is the Story of a Happy Marriage. It's Patchett, but in small bites.
  9. Finally finished this one. I think one reason why it was so tough to slog through: everyone's game plan was to hope for the best rather than actively try to save themselves (aside from Sash, who burned everybody). And it made for a thrilling <eyeroll> ride. Why the hell were the quitters on the jury, anyway? That's some horseshit right there. Of course, it means that Chase wins if there are only seven votes.
  10. I think @KimberStormer was referencing Jessica "Figgy" Figueroa.
  11. A close reading of The Fountainhead will do ya.
  12. @KimberStormer (link): Interesting.
  13. I enjoyed that too. I wonder if it will be Reese's Charlie Theron's Monster moment, although I did have trouble imagining Eleanor's scar.
  14. I really like Bill & Cathi plus Andy & Tommy. Neither team complained (or we were never shown): they just did what they had to do. Amani & Marcus were replete with football cliches, but they just did the work, too. Refreshing! Andy & Tommy were a super strong team (six 1st place legs): I wonder who had the most 1st place finishes without actually winning. Contrast with Ernie & Cindy. I wanted to like them. I really did. They're just meh.
  15. I'm still stuck on this one. It's been over a month since I watched an episode. :(
  16. The One-in-a-Million Boy by Monica Wood was outstanding: it gutted me, but still left me with so much hope (A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra did as well). I don't exactly have my finger on the pulse of the publishing world, but I had not ever heard of this book until my reading club found it.

    S15: China

    HEHEHEHEHEH. HAHAHAHAH! You'll see.
  18. Thoroughly enjoyed this season, much of it because I was happy to root for Kat and Nat. The final leg wasn't set up too well, though: it didn't feel like there was any chance for lead changes once they left the airport. Oh well.
  19. Well, damn: I'll never watch that show the same way again. (And that's good!)
  20. I forgot how loud Mallory could be.
  21. Somewhere, Lena and Kristy shed a tear: that hay bale switchback is awful. I agree with @beeblebrox: Brian and Ericka hit my last nerve, with their holier than thou attitude. I didn't like Cheyne either: I dislike when a guy calls a woman, "girl." Flight Time's name is Herbert!
  22. Sure, except she laughs a little too hard every time Jaime berates an unlucky person for not knowing English.
  23. As a deaf person and the parent of an autistic, I won't touch the coddling or whining remarks (they're not true). I will say that, yes, this season makes a turn for the worse: I don't blame production, either. I blame Jaime and Cara. Mean girls, especially Jaime, through and through. Mel even said so, and that's enough for me.
