I just enrolled my son in public school kindergarten for September, and they required a copy of his birth certificate, along with proof of our address. My son attended 5 different camps last summer, and none of the camps required a birth certificate or proof of his legal name or medical records. His private preschool did not require a copy of his birth certificate. The preschool required the Universal Child Health form that is filed out by your doctor, which might catch a name error unless you gave a fake name to your pediatrician also. But basically the camps just care if your check clears, and that you claim your child is the correct age for camp on the forms. I wouldn't make any assumptions about Aubrey's last name based upon the name that is used at camp.

The other issue is that Jane needed to switch advisors because she started dating her previous one, and Professor Donaldson was quite unhappy with getting Jane as an advisee from the very beginning. A professor normally wouldn't agree to advise a student who writes in a genre she doesn't support, but I'm guessing that Professor Donaldson was strong armed into taking Jane on to avoid a possible Title IX lawsuit. She probably had an appropriate number of advisees before Jane, and getting Jane added means extra work - and if it involves reading someone who writes romance novels instead of the feminist literary work she probably enjoys reading it is going to be a lot of extra, really unpleasant work for her. If she is teaching at a research university, her job is evaluated primarily upon her own research or writing. The more time she spends with her advisees takes away time from her own writing or research that she needs to do in order to get tenure or promoted. Jane's advisor should have turned her down and waited until she graduated to date her, but there was no question Jane threw herself at him so she is at least partially responsible for needing to find a new advisor and being stuck in this not-so-great situation. I'd have a lot more sympathy for Jane if she was an undergraduate, but this is an MFA program and she's been working for a few years, so she really should have enough life experience to know that there might be consequences to getting involved with her advisor. Also, we the viewers know her entire complicated history with Michael, but from the school's perspective she was just dating a professor a few months? ago and is now engaged to another man. Jumping from a relationship with one man to an engagement with another man is likely to earn a little side eye. All of those things combined may have factored into why she had run out of patience with Jane and didn't handle the marriage comments as gracefully as she should have. note: the above quote is from the previously.tv's recap of this episode

The only reason I am glad this show is continuing is for Gracie. I think it's not great for Aubrey and the others to be filmed having normal toddler meltdowns, but I'm glad that people have had a chance to see why Gracie had been acting up in previous seasons, and I hope she gets the love and support she deserves from her extended family and people in the community who can see how much she's been through.

I don't think any of the girls current maturity level would indicate that they are even remotely capable of being in a functional relationship. Hannah doesn't understand why she needs to wear underwear when she is teaching hormonal adolescents in a short skirt, and Marnie just cheated on her husband of a few weeks with an IV drug user. Jesse is totally irresponsible, and Shoshana is living in an adorable dream world in her head. I think Ray is the only character who could have a functional marriage if he finds a stable, supportive partner. I was actually annoyed they did both the central park splash and the marine walking around barefoot in the same episode, since SJP also had her shoes robbed on SATC and walked barefoot. It seemed odd to have two similar things to SATC in this episode.

Marnie wants Ray to chase after her. That's why she dramatically pulls him out in the hallway in the middle of a play to tell him that she needs to be alone by herself for awhile. I don't know if she actually wants a relationship with him, or if she just wants him to chase her so she can coyly say, "but I need to be alone right now" again when he comes after her. Her self worth is tied up in her looks and the attention being beautiful attracts from men. She's about to be divorced, and her singing career hasn't taken off (I don't know what a spot on Grey's Anatomy is worth, but it hadn't happened before the scene with Ray) and apparently her only friends are Hanna and Jessa, who she hates. So her looks are pretty much the only thing she has going for her. I was so happy when Ray said that he needed to go back inside or else he'd make the same mistake again since I didn't want her to get the attention she craved.

Chelsea's mistakes have always been due to immaturity (which isn't a crime in a teenager/girl in her early 20s), and that is a much better reason to screw up than the other teen moms, who have done things out of anger, jealousy and addiction and just not caring about their kids. We all made those kinds of mistakes in our 20s, but mine weren't on national television so I get to pretend it didn't happen.

If the editing on this episode is accurate, it is really unlikely that Leah got those kids to school on time that day. The clock read 6:40 as she was leaving, and she said it takes 45 minutes to drive to the school. The clock read 6:24 when the kids were still asleep, and since Leah didn't pack any lunches or seem to have anything prepared for school I'm going to call bs on the fact that she's been up since 5 am (unless she was doing drugs, which doesn't really count). Corey is the one who should have anxiety, knowing that Leah is driving his kids high, nodding off and texting at the same time. I'd need a lot of xanax if someone was doing that with my kids half the time.

This is a really good point. I completely agree that a change of environment might help her broaden her horizons. Her life seems to only consist of tv, unhealthy foods and the internet. If she could see a world beyond that, I'm sure she would become a better mother to Nova because she would have some hope in her life.

I'm pretty sure that soccer is Colombia's national sport, since I'm having a hard time imagining anyone getting killed over the beanbag toss. This national player wasn't so lucky: http://articles.latimes.com/1994-07-03/news/mn-11578_1_world-cup

I was really angry at Maci when she told Ryan that his parents, "need to have more respect for us as parents." Bentley's grandparents have been extremely supportive and helped take care of that adorable child all of the times that Ryan has disappeared - including on Halloween. They'd probably have a lot more respect for Maci as a mother if she didn't show up on their doorstep with a baby who isn't related to them, hinting that she doesn't want to bring the baby to a wedding. I was glad to see Ryan stand up for his parents, since they along with Chelsea's dad Randy may be the most stable and loving influence in any of the children's lives.
-
I hope Maci hires a nanny. I hope Catelyn and Tyler hire a nanny. I don't know about Farrah - it's hard to imagine a nanny staying with her and Sophia and not quitting immediately. I hope all of the "parents" on the Teen mom franchises with the exception of Corey and Chelsea (and there might be others, I just can't think of any other good parents on these shows right now) hire full time, caring supportive nannies for their poor children. With all the money they get from MTV, plus the fact that they mostly live in low cost locations where it would be quite affordable to hire a competent nanny, the real shame is that the kids are being dumped on recovering meth addicts to fend for themselves. So far, almost none of the parents have demonstrated any real interest in finishing their education or supporting themselves, so perhaps the MTV money could be best utilized by paying for quality care for the children so at least they have some stability, encouragement and love.

I think the dog is fine. She said she left him tied up in the backyard, and didn't take him on the walk. I was wondering about the dog too until she explained it.

Sorry rlangmit - you are absolutely correct - I meant the paparazzi.

I would agree that we have overall seen more frequent worse behavior from the reporters than Justin, but I think that is only because Justin has been in first for much of the race. As soon as things don't go his way, he melts down even worse than the reporters. They're all dreadful people, and I found myself rooting for the cheerleaders.

Thanks - I work while I watch television, and thought I must have missed something.

Could someone please help me out - weren't the bride and groom flying from LAX to Mexico for their wedding? I'm thinking I must be wrong about that, because otherwise why would anyone be smuggling cocaine out of LA to Mexico? It's also kind of hard to imagine an urban ER not initially catching the fact that the mother might have been sexually assaulted during a very violent home invasion. The actors on this show are very strong, and I hope the writing rises to their level.

We've seen some fairly stupid errors, but in the racer's defense, it is a lot easier to be confused reading Den Haag rather than The Hague. The reporters noted that the Hague was not written in English on their clue, so I can understand why initially many teams struggled with the reading of the clue. I also laughed at the cheerleader who noted that her 7 years at college paid off when she solved the Van Gogh roadblock, and suppose it is generally better not to know which country you are visiting than to not remember the name of the city you are trying to reach. The dentists were very lucky someone on the train recognized their clue and sent them back to Rotterdam.

Luciana was played by the Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, whom you may have seen as Pilar in Weeds in addition to her telenovela work. She was fabulous in both roles. I really love Rogelio, and am greatly enjoying this very clever season.

If Jace were two, this might be an effective strategy. Sadly, what would happen if Janelle had custody of Jace is exactly what we have been seeing at Leah's house - the twins basically being left alone to take care of themselves, make themselves breakfast, blow drying their own hair and supervising their younger sibling. Janelle would probably just plop Jace in front of the tv for all the hours he wasn't in school and scream at him if he ever interrupted her time on the phone/twitter and fighting with boyfriends. Honestly, Kaiser probably would be a lot better off if Jace were in the home since at least he'd have someone to talk to and Jace would probably take better care of him than Jenelle or Nathan, but it would be too devastating to pull Jace out of a stable environment and send him to Janelle's full time. I'd hate to saddle Barb with another kid, but maybe if she could pull in the kind of MTV money the other girls are making, she could take care of both children and have money to hire babysitters so she could get a break.
-
I'm really grateful that Kaiser can feed himself. These two are too busy fighting to hold a bottle for him.

Cruises leave from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, and Tampa, Florida. A number of cruises stop in Key West, Florida, but the port of St. Petersburg is not used for cruises. As a previous poster noted upthread, St. Petersburg is the highlight of many Baltic cruises, and many cruises let you stay there overnight (some even let you tour the city for 3 days). The designers clearly knew which city they were supposed to be designing for, as they described it to Tim as "opulent and garish" and he told them to lean towards opulent (although I saw neither in their design).

Could it possibly be that the kid keeps taking her shoes off whenever she goes out, and leaving without them? And then since Leah is tired ( cough high cough ) she doesn't notice they are missing, and then has to backtrack to all the places she's been that day trying to find her kid's shoes? And it must be really hard to find tiny kids shoes in various drug dens, since they probably aren't well lit. And Adam whining about not getting a letter stating he was in child support arrears reminded me of Clueless when she didn't pay her speeding ticket and tried to convince her dad she didn't get a first notice, and he screamed, "the ticket was your first notice!"

I do believe that any footage that might have been manipulated shouldn't be used in a custody hearing. But there are certain things - such as the condition of the car they were driving where things were falling on the girls, and they couldn't see out the rearview mirror - that I don't think would have been faked (MTV would be liable if they sent a car on the road in that condition and there was an accident). I can't imagine Leah agreeing to say, "lots of people can't see out their rear view," if she hadn't been responsible for all the stuff in the car. That, combined with the sheer number of latenesses and absences the girls have in school, should concern a judge about Leah's current fitness as a parent. I know the fact that she is probably abusing drugs should also be on the list of concerns, but if she is really passing drug tests I understand the judge can't really hold that against her even though she looked pretty high in a lot of the footage.

This was fun to watch! I was glad to see how happy Big Ang is with her life (I couldn't handle it but it makes her happy), and how George Hamilton rolled with the punches and seemed to be having a lot of fun. Alana was right that the daughters/DILs should do something nice for Big Ang, but I wasn't surprised to see it not happen. I think George really meant it when he said he planned to stay in touch. Oh, and I grew up in Staten Island in the 1980s. There were no clothes available anywhere without big shoulder pads and weird straps on the end of your pants covering your heel and I hated them and cut them out of everything. One day my mother's friends had enough of me and decided to "make me beautiful" so I had the exact same makeover Alana got! I kept trying to flatten my hair and wipe off the makeup while they told me to knock it off. This really brought back memories for me.

I couldn't handle being a stay at home mom to three children, especially if one had special needs. But what I don't understand is that Leah's hometown must have a very low cost of living, and it can't possibly cost that much to hire a nanny and a housekeeper there. A lot of mothers would have a hard time giving up custody (even though being with Corey half time would be best for the twins) but with her MTV money, Leah has the financial resources to provide a nice life for the girls. I hope that when the cameras aren't on her, she is using her money to achieve that goal. And possibly the worst thing the Teen Mom's franchise may have inadvertently caused is keeping Adam in Aubrey's life. Adam would disappear if he didn't have MTV checks and free publicity from the show. And sadly Aubrey and Paisley would be much better off once Adam disappears.
