  1. They never explained why Barry didn't ask Supergirl and/or Superman for help. I can understand the producers not wanting to do a crossover, but in theory, the Kryptonians might have been able to help. They can handle Flashtime, and they can freeze things with their breath.
  2. The authorship of "A Visit from St. Nicholas" has long been in dispute. Some scholars attribute the poem to Henry Livingston Jr. I wonder what the judges would have said if someone rang in with that answer.
  3. She is also the sister of Oedipus, which adds an unusual element to the character. Further, her mother is also her grandmother, which makes her the granddaughter of Oedipus as well, by marriage.
  4. I'm curious about the distinction between "breathing heavy" and "breathing heavily." Specifically, I'm wondering which of these two sentences is grammatically correct: 1) "The runner began breathing heavy and was forced to slow down." 2) "The runner began breathing heavily and was forced to slow down." I tend to favor the second one, but I've seen both examples used. I tried Google, and it was mainly focused on the medical aspect.
  5. I remember when Rob Morrow left Northern Exposure, one of my all-time favorites. I liked many of the other characters more than his, so I didn't miss him in that respect. Unfortunately, his departure quickly sank the show.
  6. Jason "Jay" Santos from Season 7 had blue hair. He was the runner up who thankfully lost to Holli Ugalde, my favorite winner so far.
  7. It sounds similar to the episode "Cause and Effect" from Star Trek: The Next Generation (Season 5, Episode 18).
  8. I had thought about that too (that Rachel’s scenes were all filmed years ago), but after doing a bit more research, I don’t think this theory holds up. Here is an article from the Denver Post dated July 16, 2016, which talks about Dr. Jeff’s cancer and him cutting his hair, as well as his move to the new clinic. I haven’t yet found the date of the move, but I’m assuming it was either late 2015 or early 2016. http://www.denverpost.com/2016/07/08/dr-jeff-rocky-mountain-vet-moves-locations-battles-cancer-on-hit-animal-planet-show/ And regarding the haircut, which happened at roughly the same time, we can see in this video clip below that Rachel was there, looking on. So all one has to do now is verify when the clinic moved to its new location, and find a clip of Rachel which occurred after that point. I’m quite certain that several examples exist from last season, but I don’t have immediate access to them right now.
  9. That can't be accurate. Dr Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet debuted in 2015, so if Dr. Nichols had been with Parker since 2014, we likely never would have seen her on this show. I'm pretty sure as well that she appeared several times last season, which eliminates the possibility that all of the Rachel scenes were filmed prior to 2015 when the show first aired. I also remember a segment where Rachel and Amy travelled to a ranch and worked together on some livestock, proving that they were there (on the show) at the same time.
  10. As a history and assassination buff, I was shouting "Mary Surratt" at the screen, but it didn't prevent that particular TS.
  11. I looked up this season’s episodes on the official site, and found Amy on episode 1, beginning at around 19:44. I knew I hadn’t imagined it. :-) The cat was named Princess Utah, and came in with a broken leg. She had been missing for eighteen months until the owner found her in a shelter (or something along those lines). Amy and Dr. Petra worked on the animal together, but they were unable to save the leg, so they had to amputate. Here’s a link so you can review the segment if you wish. https://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/dr-jeff-rocky-mountain-vet/full-episodes/a-little-miracle
  12. Amy Hutcheson? She had a segment either last week or the week before, though I can't recall which animal she was caring for (I think it was a cat). She's one of my favorites too. I also like Dr. Rachel, who I don't think has made an appearance yet this season.
  13. Season 5 had a tour. I attended the show in Newark, NJ, and was lucky enough to get a backstage pass for the meet & greet arranged personally by Janette. During the season, I befriended some of her family members on a message board. It turned out that they had been following my posts for months, and appreciated the fact that I'd been a huge Janette fan since her audition in Season 4. So that evening in Newark has always been a wonderful memory. Anyway, it was the cast of Season 6 who missed out on a tour, although Kathryn and Russell were able to join the Season 7 tour. Kathryn because she had been an S7 all-star, and Russell ostensibly because he was the winner of S6. I might add that I hated the S6 changes to the opening credits as well; and that cavernous new stage didn't help matters any.
  14. Maybe I'm nitpicky, but I feel like Sebastian gave two wrong answers. The first was "Kodiak Bear" when they were looking for the name of the Island. Is it now Kodiak Bear Island? The second goof was him saying "Hundred Year War," whereas I've always known it as the Hundred Years' War. Perhaps they figured he was in the ballpark in both cases, but it still grates.
  15. Robert should not have been credited for his answer of "Tarzan." Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote 24 Tarzan books, with the first in the series titled Tarzan of the Apes (and not just Tarzan). Presumably this first book was the one the clue was referencing, but a BMS would have been in order.
  16. Recently I was browsing YouTube and came across a video from a channel called Wildlife Aid. It’s an animal rescue foundation in the U.K., and according to its home page, was the basis for a TV show called Wildlife SOS which ran for several seasons on Animal Planet. https://www.wildlifeaid.org.uk/wildlife-sos/ I had never heard of it before, but after watching more of the channel, I’ve become completely hooked. It's like a cross between Dr. Jeff and Northwoods Law, with about the same balance of happy stories vs. sad ones. In many of the clips, an older man named Simon Cowell (no relation to the more famous Simon Cowell as far as I know) responds to reports of trapped or injured animals, and rescues them. There are a lot of foxes and hedgehogs and various types of birds, and some are brought to the animal hospital for rehab before being released back to the areas from which they came. Simon has become my newest hero, and I’m also very fond of his nurse, Lucy. These two (along with the rest of the staff), are absolutely devoted to the welfare of the animals. They even saved a little mouse from a glue trap. In some cases, an animal has to be euthanized, but only when there is no chance of recovery. And we can see how difficult this decision is for the caretakers, just like when the snow leopard had to be put down on The Zoo. Here is a link to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheWildlifeAidTV YouTube is technically not TV, but since these clips are connected to a TV show, I hope it’s appropriate to discuss them here. At the very least, I’d like to share a few of my favorite clips (or at least a link to them) so that others can enjoy this channel if they aren’t already aware of it. In the first clip below, Lucy the nurse talks about a mother duck’s reunion with her babies, plus three extra orphans. And then we have Lucy trying to figure out an onion chopper while shredding spinach for a hungry cygnet. The last two clips show orthopedic vets working on an owl and a fox, respectively, which reminds me of the professionalism of Dr Jeff. That’s why I enjoy these so much. :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm_YE-VoTaE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2dhOk44Y4w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdIvelhz64Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QesI5SFC3uY
  17. I’m starting to think that the killer might be either the sheriff, or Joaquin, because that search warrant had to be signed by a judge, who would have required probable cause. So either the sheriff was acting on a tip, or he fabricated something to mislead the judge. If he (the sheriff) was given a tip, my suspicion is that it came from Joaquin, who has a connection to the sheriff through Kevin, and also a connection with FP. I’ve always assumed that the killer had to be a secondary character, because any of the main characters would be facing serious consequences for murder, and would most likely be in jail during the second season and beyond. While the same is true of the secondary characters, their absence would have less impact on the storylines going forward. Then again, it’s possible that Jason’s death wasn’t murder. It may have been self defense, or accidental. We’ll have to wait and see on that.
  18. I've listened to "America" more times than I can count (and for more years than I can count), so for me it was an instaget.
  19. But suppose the woman who was 25% Persian (from one of her grandparents) married a full blooded Persian. Their child would then be 62.5% Persian (50% from the father, plus 12.5% from the mother). And if this child later married a non-Persian, the offspring would be 31.25% Persian, which is close to the 30%, 20%, 10% which you are arguing against. Unless it doesn’t work this way. :)
  20. In my market, the show is being pre-empted by an infomercial. Anyone else having this problem?
  21. Her stance kept reminding me of the farmer with the pitchfork in Grant Wood's American Gothic. I was also reminded me of some other familiar image which I can't quite place at the moment.
  22. I'm guessing it was female, as that was what the keepers were hoping for. :-)
  23. What was the gender of the baby penguin? My DVR cut off just before it was revealed.
  24. Regarding the hostage who appeared to have been knifed to death in the apartment (but later was shown to still be alive), I had the feeling that she actually HAD been murdered, but that someone then altered the timeline and saved her. There was something ambiguous about Jane’s reaction at seeing this woman unharmed. Did anyone else pick up on this?
  25. Don't forget Limitless, Frequency, and the upcoming Time After Time.
