  1. haa, okay hopefully my question is being asked in the right thread cause.. i have no idea where to ask it. I'm writing a fanfiction and i am so utterly confused about the time frame Malcolm was away and Thea's birth time. in 1x11 we learn Tommy was 8 when his mom died (somewhere in 1993) and that shortly afterwords Malcolm went away for a year maybe two after that, now Thea was born january 1995 so Tommy and Oliver were almost 10. which is where my confusion goes. if Thea was born jan 95 she was conceived around april/may 94, making the boys 8.. so did malcolm knocked up Moira and than left, or did he leave, came back and than knocked her up? so confusing, i can't remember if the show ever gave more details on the subject.
  2. Rumor has it Oliver is coming out of the SC court house or something of sorts. and from a trailer picture from that canada something website guy, there was a trailer with Palmer's name on it (and we all know Brandon Routh filmed a scene on day one since he tweeted about it). my guess? Oliver was in some sort of negotiation or something regarding QC and his ownership when he was told that palmer is either trying to buy QC, bought the company or has been put in place as CEO- my guess is on #1 although #3 is plausible too. this of course made him very upset and that entire scene is him pissed off telling felicity what happened. because the pics that canada guy posted, Oliver looks pissed rather than happy. I could be wrong, but his entire body language screams "i'm tensed and mad" rather than relaxed and happy, and felicity looks attentive but concerned. again, i could be reading the pics all wrong.
  3. yea, not gonna spend money on this (if they have important information to share they should do it for free $3 is alot of money for a college student). i'll simply take myself to the nearest book/comic book store (i do believe we have a handful of them in my town) camp in it for 20 or so minutes and just read it, put it back and go off to get myself a cup of coffee and ready for the new season- which i believe is premiering that same night) all that saying in the hopes it won't be wrapped in plastic.
  4. totally off topic but: ummm.. is it me or has Amell arms gotten bulkier? i feel like his arms were less muscly(sp?) in season 1. you can literally see the veins on his arms.
  5. Oi!! FanFication can be pretty awesome. when it's written by good writers, and really really awful when its not. happily and sadly i have been in the end reading of both. BTW if you go by the fanfiction world, Olicity wins, like big time. i think it is safe to say that about 95% of the Arrow fics are about Oliver and Felicity.
  6. that's how crude i am (or just have a very dirty mind... ;-P) i laughed at your comment, and i am still smiling a couple of minutes later. it's been a rough day emotionally so thank you for being the second thing after my cats to make me laugh today!!!
  7. I saw that Too!!! I have been wondering since the season ended whether or not we'll see him get promoted, cause i though, didn't they kill the captain at the finale? so yea, at this rate Lance is on the way to becoming commissioner. now we just need an arrow signal thingy to place at the top of police headquarter :-P (too batman? yea i guess you're right). they actually kind of didn't, it was well known (well i knew cause i sort of read interviews with Barrowman) that he was signed to do a couple of episodes in season 2. most people figured it will be a flashback of sorts. i had a hunch it will be more than that, Barrowman sounded too eager, okay more eager than usual the man has more energy than my cats at 4 am when they're hungry, for it to be a flashback.
  8. The only thing i think about when i see an episode being called "The Storm" are the last George Clooney episodes on ER 15 years ago.. that title will forever be connected to those two episodes, it just feels off and wrong seeing it as a title for any other show.
  9. precisely! i would also imagine that a prestige private k-12 school would push his faculty to earn a Phd, because it will be something they can say when showing the school around to potential parents, it reflects good on the school having hired teachers who have a Phd. also well... this is TV land, more so- this is a comic book based TV land, if super soldiers juiced on a super strength drugs is possible, i would say a woman teaching in a super exclusive K-12 school while earning her Phd, or when she already has it, is quite possible. also, we don't know how high/low rated central city uni really is, maybe it's a decent enough university where just having a masters in a specific subject and the established teaching background will be enough to get hired. for example, the university i go to while many of the younger professors (under 40) have a Phd, a good portion of the older ones(40+) do not. the age group Dinah belongs to is of a time where having a master degree was just enough to gain employment at a university as a professor (according to a couple of my professors- i asked as i am debating doing a master in teaching myself). the all race to a Phd was just starting to become very common and asked at the turn of the century- by that time Sarah and Laurel were in they mid-teens and probably already studying at the school.
  10. which is why i wonder what i do. if Dinah taught latin or literature at the private school Tommy and Oliver attended, it is possible that one of the benefits she was entitled to as a faculty member of a very prestiges school was free attendance to her daughters. as i mentioned many universities have such a benefit for their staff and faculty, i can see it happening with a K-12 school too. as for why Laurel.. I don't know, maybe at first he did that out of spit to his mother and than stuck around cause he realized she believed his lies and because she was convenient? you know being a rebellious uber- rich teen dating the middle class class mate, that's bound to piss off mommy just a little bit. regarding the Laurel vs. Connor's mother and Moira reaction. i don't remember Moira's reaction being specifically about the girl, but rather the situation- the baby was a threat to the future of her very immature son, and i do want to believe a part of her was worried for the future of the baby (because let's face it Oliver at that point would have made a terrible father!). about her feelings regarding Laurel in general, it is possible that after awhile she realized that Laurel was a studious young girl with big aspiration who could make a good socialite wife, smart enough to hold a conversation, but stupid enough to not notice/forgive her husband affairs (i wonder if in some twisted way Moira saw her younger self when she looked at Laurel). with that being said i would like to point out that i am in no way a Laurel fan, and i am 100% an Olicity shipper. i just love to speculate on the what if's and the maybes. ETA: i should that this post was originally posted in the relationship board and has apparently been moved to here. just in case you are wondering where it suddenly came from..
  11. Have they ever told us what subject Dinah taught(teaches), and whether or not her teaching career was always as a college professor? Because (and i literally came up with this theory while reading your post) i do wonder if the way Laurel and Sarah managed to go to a fancy private school was because their mother worked there and part of the benefits was free or low cost education for her children. i mean you see it all the time at universities here in the US. i can certainly see this being the actual case rather than Dinah and Lance having to scrap every cent for school. because in all honesty the house they showed us that the Lances live in? that place looked nice, and the outside (as seen from the windows) looked very clean and suburb like. so i can very much imagine them living in a nice neighborhood that has a really good public education, so why would they save money for a private school, unless! they had free or cheap access to it. and somehow while Laurel seems like the kind who will get straight A's and scholarships to cover the costs, pre gambit sarah does not- so how did she went to that same school (and wait, come to think about it, have they ever told us Sarah studied there too?- i can't remember).
  12. But that doesn't have to happen that way (granted in a far superior show it probably wouldn't - there are plenty of examples from past shows- Arrow being on the CW there's a chance it will, none the less...) why can't Felicity date someone who is in fact a great guy and is better than Oliver without being a Gary/Jerk Stu, but she or he, will, in the end, come to the conclusion that while they love each other and enjoy being together/ while this guy will make some other woman very happy he is just not mr. right for her- and decide to end it. it happens in real life all the time, it happens in TV land too (and sometimes without any drama). if the writers are smart they'll do it that way. they'll show us that yes, there are great men out there for Felicity to chose from just as there are great women for Oliver to chose from, however they are already at a point where they are fully in love with each other that at the end of the day none of those choices will feel quite right. like being the wrong piece of a puzzle V. being the right one.
  13. you're right! i had to go and check the clip. for some reason i remembered it differently.
  14. that's because he wasn't talking with her during that scene, i'm pretty sure he was leaving a voicemail.
  15. You know, I have to wonder... there is nearly a 30 years age gap between Gabel and Stormare!! well enough for Storemare to be Gabel's father (or playing one). my pet theory at the moment is that we'll find out that those two characters were related- possibly a father-son relationship. and that we'll find out that the entire Vertigo operation was a mafia like operation with count jr. working for daddy, and now daddy is pissed cause Arrow killed his son and he is all too happy to unleash his rage upon the city and arrow as revenge. I know it's very similar to Malcolm reasons, but still far enough- i hope. plus you know, if there is one thing i'e noticed about villains in comic books is that when it boils down to it, they're vendetta always seems to boil down to: someone killed my loved one, so now i turn bad, now i'm gonna make everyone suffer....
  16. In all honesty, i believe nothing KC say. i have a feeling she's just as clueless or just in the dark about most things than we the fans are.
  17. I'm thinking, and i have to say this isn't my personal original idea but i've been seeing it in many S03 AU fics and i do kind of like it, is that in present day we'll see team arrow working with ARGUS as a way to earn money or have access to other things they may need- such as Felicity computers (which i'm sure cost a good sum) and she was practically making love with that computer system when she was at argus headquarters. this will, in my opinion, create a sort of parallel between the Hong-Kong storyline and the present day one in regards to Waller, it doesn't seem that Oliver likes her too much, he trusts her enough but... so i'm thinking being forced to work for her again will help bring up some old resentments and emotions (not romantic- maybe emotions isn't the right word but i'm drawing blank) from his part.
  18. in all honesty, when you look at comic books: it's all the same basic formula (for the most part). so it's only a given that when you have multiply shows each based on the comics, they're all bound to be similar in some ways. i'm still looking forward to it. the good (and bad) part is that it's on the CW, so chances of it being canceled (unless it'll have a 0.5 rating) are slim. however with Constantine and Gotham premiering too, Flash is going to have to be really good (and i mean arrow-when-its-fantastic-good) to maintain my attention.
  19. Have you seen who his mother is?
  20. not defending the LaurelxOliver ship- because it doesn't work (and i'm way too invested in Olicity to say that a LxO ship exist anymore); but i would like to point out that on a more realistic TV show: ER. in it Julianna Margulies character, carol, did take back the cheating ex, Doug, played by George Clooney. with that being said i have to point out that both character went through some major personal growth in the three seasons leading to them getting back together- and even after that they had some issues (especially trust issues coming from carol) that made the first year of that relationship slightly rocky; but the major difference was that straight from the pilot the actors had mad- off the charts chemistry, and it was obvious that at the very least they both still had strong feeling towards each other- in addition the ER writer literally used those three seasons to built up a strong friendship foundation between them. which cannot be said for Oliver and Laurel- at this point felicity embodies all those things that Laurel should have been. just saying.
  21. already starting to get there... i wasn't sure why, i saw some sparks and yea she was a bit woody (but than again this is the pilot and we don't really know her backstory and who she is so there might be more to her that will help the actress open up the character) but still likable, so was Iris to be honest- and i wasn't sure why something about Iris was off until you mentioned the Laurel Effect. i hope they will find a way to not ruin it on the Flash. i do think Barry and Iris have alot more chemistry than Cassidy and Amell do, and they have a better and happier history so that's a start. It was a good pilot, not great- not even as good as Arrow pilot. but there's potential- i do actually sort of like Barry, Caitlin, Iris and Wells. I am though intrigued by that newspaper bit that came up, the bottom left with the Wayne-Queen merger.. that is interesting to see, which makes me wonder if any of the bat family will be visiting Arrow- personally i'd like to see Batwoman, but i digress.
