  1. I wish he had been able to do this more, since that is where I had the most trouble. Basically because we don't see any hint that Ally is interested in making that kind of music until she's making that kind of music. It made me relate to Jackson feeling kind of blindsided by the whole thing. Maybe that was the intent? But ultimately, I didn't see it as Jackson looking down on the style of music so much as he was concerned that Ally was going in a direction she didn't intend to go, or was losing her sense of self in doing so.
  2. I loved this, and I especially loved Bradley Cooper in it. Not knowing that this was basically a passion project for him until after I saw has made it more impactful, honestly. All of the songs in the first half of the movie have been on repeat since I saw it (the Jackson songs, the Jackson/Ally collabs, Ally's Jackson concert universe tunes are exceptional to me). I also love "Look What I Found," and found the full version on the soundtrack to be a perfect blend of the Ally that Jack met and the Ally that Ally becomes as she hits fame. The first half of the movie is such a fantastic whirlwind. It was a thrill to watch it. When the movie slows down as the "honeymoon" period wears off, I started to have a few issues with the development of Ally but it wasn't enough to take me out of the movie, just left more up to interpretation I guess. I found myself sympathetic to Jackson's views on the direction of her career, even though I wasn't sure I was supposed to. I want to know more about how they worked when they were no longer centered around his tour. Jackson's downhill spiral was played so well, and was so uncomfortable at times. I think the line that got me most though, was when Bobby turns up at SNL and sees Jackson, already taken aback by how vapid Ally's performance was, they catch up a bit and then Bobby says, re: Jackson's hearing, "is it getting worse?" and Jackson's responds "I'm just here with my wife." The film did a good job of depicting how isolated and lost Jack was becoming, but those moments where we're reminded that he can't even hear anymore really broke my heart. Anyway. All the awards for Bradley Cooper. Play some gigs as Jackson Maine, I'll be there.
  3. Three teams going home down two bums me out. Glad the Yankees avoided that, and will hopefully not be going back to Boston!
  4. Just started this show and am sure I will knock out the rest of the episodes by the end of the week. I loooove the imagery! It's filling the Hell on Wheels sized void in my heart! Already love Merritt Wever. And interested to see where Kim Coates' character (noticed he was a main character on the credits, but he only had a brief appearance in this episode) ends up going.
  5. I do want to know more about that crime, but we likely never will. Did Barb and Carol run, or did they go back to their parents' house and act like they didn't know anything had happened, and had nothing to do with any drama? Did they come up with a story for why Debbie was no longer with them, or did they flat out tell their parents that they killed her, for the satisfaction and reaction? How did the trial go, what was the case against them if there were no witnesses and they pleaded innocent? Or did they plead guilty and just get sentenced? So many questions!
  6. Her hair is actually not that different, she just has bangs. Nicky isn't wearing any eyeliner or mascara, which makes a BIG difference here. Likely because those types of things aren't as available (or allowed?) in max.
  7. One thing I'm wondering is the details of the Barb and Carol case. Barb is oldest, and she's still in high school. It's winter where they live, but it's possible she's 18. Carol is likely 17 or 16, as she's old enough to work. But is it a given she'd be tried as an adult or are they just not worrying about that for this?
  8. I feel awful for Blanca. I don't remember exactly what she did, just that she worked with the elderly. Either way, I really came to like her over the course of her developing into an actual character (from the woman everyone thought was crazy and speaking to the devil because they didn't realize she had a cell phone in her bathroom stall where she called her boyfriend Diablo). I don't like Badison either, but it will be interesting to see if her story changes next season now that Carol and Barb are out of the picture and the C and D block ladies have been a bit more enlightened on how dumb it is that they're fighting. Badison's powers might have been significantly decreased, who knows. Yeesh, imagine spending 30+ years in prison with your sister, for killing your sister, only to end up... killed by your sister.
  9. Part of the issue with Aleida also is that she appears to have not a single redeeming quality of any kind.
  10. I found the Barb and Carol flashback pretty fascinating, while evil. Right untl Carol runs from the car, I believed that Barb might've turned a corner and decided not to kill Debbie but nope! It's hard to say which sister is more of a psychopath, the one who makes it obvious she's got no patience or interest in pretending to like you or the one who makes nice until she pulls the knife on you. Should be interesting to see how those dynamics play out in the last few episodes. Also have to wonder if Carol is messing with Barb as much as Barb seems to think she is? I'm also a little worried about Nicky.
  11. He also hasn't played much since becoming a Ray. He missed most of his time in 2016 and all of 2017, so this is really the first year he is playing daily and people can reference his past.
  12. See, some people hate the DH and some people love it! If only there was a way to please both people, such as having some teams using a DH and some not...
  13. Wilson Ramos was the starting catcher for the Nationals for a long time. They would chant "WIIIIIILSOOOOOON" before his ABs. He was voted in as the starting catcher for the AL, likely because Nationals fans were also voting for him, but he is injured so did not play and thus got announced as a reserve.
  14. I usually spell it Keykay when typing it.
  15. I am not a Dodgers fan by any stretch of the imagination, in fact, I really don't like them at all, but Keekay couldn't be further from a "toxic masculinity" guy. He's funny and self-deprecating and encourages dudes to show their love to each other. If he wasn't a Dodger, I'd actually like him! ;-P I am full on loving that the last two Giants wins have come thanks to Pablo Sandoval. Thank you, Red Sox, for paying him to play for the Giants, where he's now back to being an everyday 3B and a contributor nightly. Nothing better than Panda doing what he does best. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the Willie Mac Award this year.
  16. He is just one of the most down to earth people ever, and so positive! It's what made it so hard when he kind of got run out of town at the end of the Yankee tenure. Luckily all those bridges were mended and he even got back into the good graces of the Bleacher folks, who did Role Call for him when he returned with Cleveland. A few weeks ago, he was standing outside entrance of MLB FoodFest, likely waiting for whoever he was going to go in with to do a video review or something similar. No one was noticing him but my natural reaction was "oh hey, it's Nick!" I'm usually super shy about bothering people but he was my favorite Yankee and in a lot of ways responsible for me getting back into baseball in 2009, so I decided to go say hi, and he acted like he was greeting an old friend and graciously took the reigns for our selfie ("my arms are longer, it's cool!"). Such a good dude and I'm so glad he found a place to stay in baseball now that his playing career is over.
  17. Yeah, they do! They do the Harry Potter theme sometimes also. I really, really don't like the Dodgers but I'd really enjoy their organist/AB songs (their players have good picks) if it wasn't so LOUD. It's even too loud through the broadcasts!
  18. There is a trophy now! I'm gonna be right pissed if Brandon Crawford doesn't start the All-Star game. When are we getting updates on how the voting is going!
  19. I actually think it's a fantastic deal! I bought tickets as soon as I heard about this, since I live in NYC and loooove trying ballpark food. Keep in mind that you can sample everything, as many times as you feel like, and things like the Crazy Crab Sandwich that SF is sending is $18 at the ballpark. I'm also excited that a lot of ballparks are sending some of their standout items, things I thought I wouldn't get to try until I made it TO that ballpark. Super excited to taste the Dbacks Churro Dog (and also glad it's a smaller portion!), the grasshoppers (apparently they were so popular they often ran out at the ballpark!) and the Dodgers elote. Such a fun idea, I hope it catches on and they do it often!
  20. I was so worried that Frankie was going to get rear-ended or t-boned while she was reaching and looking back at the baby that I was relieved that all that happened was she got lost and ended up in Mexico.
  21. The kids selling the house also seemed absurd because Coyote lives in a TINY HOUSE. Mallory has four kids and is recently divorced! So, like, fix that house up and move into it! It's an owned home! Rent it out to weekenders! Put it on Air BnB! You wouldn't sell it in two minutes, though! I'm pretty bored of Sol and Robert also. I actually like Sol but they don't seem to actually like each other all that much and Robert's trust issues are just too constant for me to enjoy him without Sol. He's pretty self-absorbed and their personalities are only similar when it comes to how they overreact to perceived slights. Give me a break, Robert, Sol was married to Frankie for all those years, that doesn't just get erased because he loves you too.
  22. I am in the younger demographic, at least relatively (30s) and the Grace and Frankie storylines are by far my favorites. I do like the kids more than some, mostly Coyote (I have been an Ethan Embry fan since high school) and Bud, but I do think they sometimes shoehorn in plots that I don't care about (like Brianna being mean to everyone). I understand not getting to know more about what is going on in the lives of the kids outside of the family since it would take away from G&F but I do wish we knew a little more about how they got to where they are. I'd much prefer that over Sol and Robert having the same conversation again.
  23. Ack, I think this happened in episode 2!
  24. Cutch has been one of my favorite players for years, so much so that the PIrates are basically my #2 NL team. I am so excited he's on the Giants now, but I feel for the Pittsburgh fans, especially with the Cole trade happening just a few days prior. We'll take care of Andrew, Bucs fans, and I simply can't wait for the reports of his first hang with the Willies.
  25. There's no reason the Yankees can't handle their four OFs, especially since they currently don't have a traditional DH. Ellsbury still being there is kind of a wedge in things though.
