  1. They are not scrubs. They are injured, yes, but the A's aren't contending so that doesn't really matter a whole lot. They are good prospects. Two of them become Top 5 in the A's system!
  2. Curtis is one of the greatest! I'm pleased that Sergio Romo appears to be one of the new owners of the account. I love Sergio and hope to see him do well with the Rays. Actually, as a Yankee fan, things worked out pretty well for me with him this weekend. He did well in two of his appearances and not as well in one, so he doesn't get tagged as a bad acquisition AND the Yankees won more games than they lost, haha.
  3. I'm the opposite. I hope he rakes and that the entire Boston adventure is forgotten. Pablo was part of way too many good things for the Giants to stay mad at how he answered a question about something we shouldn't even care that much about.
  4. No, but they do make a gavel-banging noise and put up a big "ALL RISE" graphic and if he hits a homer, they play the Law & Order "dun dun," haha.
  5. Bellinger being a Dodger is automatic points against him but I couldn't help but love him while he was on mic after his 2nd round performance, watching Aaron obliterate him live. His comments were so funny! "What chance do you have of advancing?" "Negative 12." "Hey, maybe if [Aaron's pitcher] blows out his elbow, I still have a shot!" "He missed that one and it's still going to go out!" He was a really good sport and a natural and to me, one of the best things about the All-Star events is to see the camaraderie and good-natured competition of these guys who don't often get to see each other. Watching Buster Posey shake his head in disbelief as Stanton put on a show (man, I love Gary but it was a bummer that we didn't get to see more of Giancarlo!), watching Dellin Betances freak out over his own teammate owning the place, seeing Jansen and Turner with their cameras on Bellinger, it's just fun. For one night, MLB takes on that kind of carefree enjoyment that I wish it had more of sometimes. And for that, I love it. That Aaron took on all expectations and still impressed was just icing!
  6. Pittsburgh was actually really beautiful! We loved exploring it. The city is easily walkable downtown, there's a beautiful park at the point of the three rivers, the incline was awesome and there were some great breweries and places to eat. Plus the Warhol Museum! Pittsburgh is nothing to sneeze at!
  7. I found Nats Park to be perfectly pleasant when I visited, nothing more and not much less. It could use a little more character but it's a fine place to watch a ballgame. I just visited PNC Park for the first time last weekend and it lives up to the hype! The views are spectacular from the upper deck and the field level seats are pretty great too. And it's nice that they open up their bleacher section for home team batting practice, I don't think that's very common!
  8. He later ends up on The West Wing as journalist Steve, who is in basically any scene where CJ is talking to the media. I love how many crossovers there were.
  9. As a Giants fan who's second team is the Yankees, the past week has not been very fun but at least the Giants pulled off a win last night so that their combined record in the past week is not 0-15!!!
  10. I don't wear shorts when flying because shorts on an airline seat for that long would be uncomfortable! But I have flown in comfortable clothes for red eye flights or long flights. Comfort when being stuck in a sardine can for hours should take precedence over the few people who might see you while you are on the plane. The Red Sox had repetitive success (I consider three championships in ten years to count) and their last one, they used their lack of appearance protocol to rally together. Though I guess that can go in the other direction... a few of those guys could NOT grow very good beards!
  11. A player doesn't always have a choice. I remember when Darnell McDonald was claimed off waivers by the Yankees. He had short dreadlocks and cut them off, as expected. He was DFA'd a few days later. There are a few players who have big enough personalities that it works either way but part of the reason why I lost interest in the Yankees over the years is that even when they were playing okay, they were pretty boring. This is the first season in awhile where they actually seem to have some life and I'm sure part of that is because there are a lot of young, energetic, exciting guys.
  12. I've just always found it strange that to be a Yankee, you have to subscribe to a pretty specific code. What happens if the Yankees decide they want Johnny Cueto? They expect Johnny Cueto to say "I am so honored to be asked to be a Yankee that I will completely change something about myself that I love." It's just a weird mindset. And that's just one aspect. The Yankees have been doing better, with their commercials and whatnot, but there's a distinct "We are businessmen" vibe about the organization that isn't going to work for every guy that plays there, and telling someone that they shouldn't be themselves (like making Clint cut his hair) has always struck me as an interesting priority.
  13. Has it? Teams that allow their players to express themselves a little more have also been successful, the Yankees (who I like!) want to be "classy" so they can say they are. They don't win more games because Matt Holliday has no body hair whatsoever.
  14. It would make sense, since the Yankees aren't super into their players having much personality at all.
  15. This is true (the NL vs. AL, not that you have a head injury!)! I'll never forget Tim Lincecum's second no-hitter, where he was a few years into being bad. Not only did he not allow any hits, but he also got two himself! In Chris Heston's no-hitter, he also got two hits and TOOTBLAN'd to end a late inning. In the dugout, he went to apologize to the guy who was going to score if he hadn't and that guy was like "what are you doing talking to me?! You can't talk to me right now!"
  16. Personally, I think every Yankee should put the emoji that Didi uses for each of them on their uniforms.

    The NBA

That double posted so YAY WARRIORS and YAY KD. It's fun to see dreams come true.

    The NBA

This is so weird to me. How is the Warriors building their way up to two championships in three years with huge contributions from three homegrown players not impressive? People talk about the Warriors like they paid for five of the best NBA players to win this championship when in actuality, a very good player made his own decision to join them and they succeeded (again, after doing it two years ago, which was also impressive!). The Warriors were at the bottom of the standings at the beginning of this decade and they've turned that around to be a team that other fans can't even allow themselves to enjoy because they believe them to be a dynasty, that's pretty impressive as it is! So it's a bizarre narrative to me, this idea that the Warriors have been rolling in gold and deserve this championship less because KD was on their team, as if any fan of any other team would have said "actually, KD, if you come here, our championship will be bought!"
  19. I went to Yankee Stadium this weekend and bought my first Yankee player shirt since Nick Swisher in 2009. ALL RISE!
  20. I found it interesting that the houses in this series were always so dark and dank. They live in a bright, sunny area, the Rayburn House is on a gorgeous landscape, but the interior designs are so colorless and unwelcoming. At first I thought it was because it was always hot and humid, the houses are dark to keep them cool but as the series went on, I realized it was because the people who reside in the homes have no warmth, no brightness, no color. This was a weird series and I'm curious how it would have gone on had they had the time. As it is, the last few episodes felt like filler with no real resolution. I kind of want to go back and watch the first season and pretend that it was basically the whole series.

Do people say that the Warriors might be "buying" their championship because of KD? Because otherwise, Steph and Klay and Draymond have been on the team for a long time (their entire NBA careers) and the Warriors have a lower payroll than the Cavs, right?
  22. I have no issue with a bat flip, no matter when it happens in a game but I do have issue with Kevin's choice of words. Do better. And also, try not to break the best players in the game?! That was probably an accident but knowing these guys they'll probably find a way to make a bigger thing out of it today, even though they did the breaking.
  23. I am pretty sure that library scene was shot before the ultimate ending was decided upon.
  24. I am going to petition for Belt to wear the light pink high socks for at least another series.
  25. The Giants are very bad and the Mets are kind of a mess so I am very glad that I am attending all three of these games in person, haha.
