S06.E04: Everything's Coming Up Roses

The frost lipstick is insane. It is pure insanity. -
It makes me sad how thirsty Valerie is.

Second week in a row that a young woman is the murderer. Don't know what, if anything, that means. Past seasons they were often the victims, this season they kill. There are a lot of young women around. A hell of a lot of discussion about Morse's romantic life in this episode- Monica, Susan, Joan. All they needed was that girl he went to school with, who had that massive crush on him, (who appeared in Rocket) to complete the set. I much prefer Trewlove as a kid sister type than a romantic type for Morse. Ugh on Susan's mother....he pissed off the Masons! That's why he failed his Sergeant's! Also, Joan! Phone your mother. (I also don't get that whole thing- why it's so dramatic. It's like we're missing scenes from last season.) Tarot cards.

This is Josh in Ireland getting transformed.

It's totally cool. Just love on David Price. We still love him over here. I miss Ragnar. A lot.

I was on board until you said you were a Red Sox fan (hehe) We Jays fans have been waiting for it for awhile and I'm pretty happy. I was mostly impressed with his accent. He has a Florida dashed with Alabama drawl and he copied their weird diction/accent pretty well. Katheryn Winnick is indeed from Toronto. (The guy who plays Bjorn is Canadian, too. It's Canadian co-production.) Clive Standen (Rollo) visited the clubhouse last season and hit batting practice (you can hear Josh yelling at him in this video.)

I don't know how many baseball fans are on here, but this dude on the left is Josh Donaldson, third basemen for the Toronto Blue Jays, American League MVP in 2015. He loves the show, they gave him a part. (For clarification, Donaldson is the one with the fur and the braid.)
-
I don't quite get the Miss Thursday situation. I feel like I'm missing something. I thought she just left because she wanted to be away and now it's all mysterious and dramatic. This is still an incredibly elegant show. And very well acted.
-
Oh Sarah- it's NOT the Minnesota Twins. They started in 1901. The Seattle Mariners were the expansion team with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1977. (The Jays are my team and I have a talent for useless information.)

JESSE! HE OFFERED YOU MONEY TO PROBABLY STAY AT A HOTEL. TAKE IT. GAAAAAH

Two things that randomly popped into my head while watching this that made the pregnancy reveal not surprising... 1. Rory is the same age, give or take, as Lorelai in the first season. The repetition of things, etc.... 2. Sometime during the Life and Death Brigade not dream, I think maybe between the Wizard of Oz stuff and Logan kissing her goodbye, "Is Rory on birth control?" popped into my head for no particular reason. The Christopher scene is also a major, major tell. Rory visiting her impossibly wealthy and distant father to discuss how she was raised by her mother was a major, major indication that her baby daddy is Logan (also impossibly wealthy and distant. They even both have scary fathers.) I don't think Logan is Rory's "Christopher" (with Jess being her "Luke"), but there are definitely parallels. Rory's relationship with Logan was always symbolic of Rory trying out the life that Lorelai rejected in the run of the show. I like Logan a lot more than I like Christopher. Logan was always an interesting character because he had all the potential to be an overly privileged brat, but wasn't just that. He was more complex than that. Rory, however, is not a force of nature. But Christopher was always kind of a weenie, so maybe she seems like a force of nature to him. Few other things, Paris is the MVP forever. As is Emily. It was kind of Emily's show. I like that L/L finally got married. I hated the Paul stuff- it was mean and also should've resolved itself much, much earlier. All the boyfriends aged very well. I wish Dean had just said, "Rory, I've been fighting demons for the last decade. You can tell by my hair." instead of all that boring shit about head lice.

I was just like "Hey....that was me!" I didn't even care. That article was so bitchy. I actually searched for it for the TAT best boob job / Sassy and that's how I found it.

Sarah D. Bunting- "people" posted the mean Sassy article about TAT. That "people" was me! So I count that as a shoutout.

S05.E01: What I Did On My Summer Vacation And Other Stories
Pogojoco replied to Primetimer's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
I did a little research, because I had vague recollection of this, but the new "Brenda" got a lot of press ahead of time for a few reasons. One- Doherty had gotten a tonne, so her replacement was going to be a story. Theissen was on Saved by the Bell (including the new "College Years" which I think aired the year before she was in 90210), so already a fixture in a bunch of teen mags (I saw pictures- I recalled her 'Teen cover and her YM cover from back in the day.) She was also dating Brian Austin Green, so a lot of the press was about the two of them and their triple names. (as mentioned above.) Here is a vintage and so bitchy interview with Tiffani from Sassy -
Eve's Marathon Diary: Sex And The City Starts To Pair Off
Pogojoco replied to Primetimer's topic in Sex And The City
I think the one incident that bugged me most between Carrie and Alek is when Carrie's supposed to meet those French fans for dinner, but Alek is having a breakdown about his big opening and wants her to hold his hand all night, which she chooses to do. But why not just call the restaurant and let those people know she's been detained and will either be late or a no-show? And, once Alek drops her hand and goes off with the exhibit folks, why did she just sit there staring at him instead of taking that opportunity to go off to her dinner? How many years has it been, and those things are still bugging me! So much of that French wind-up seemed so slap-dash. The series deserved a better ending. Or come back to the bookstore the next day with the wine stained book and apologize. The whole thing in Paris drove me mental. Carrie became extra needy and irritating. She had been for a few seasons, but she really poured it on. Never quite as irritating as when she wouldn't let Alek talk about his friend who died of breast cancer when he was just wanting her to prepare herself. That was the worst. Shut up, Carrie. -

I love that episode, too. Tatum O'Neal is so bitchy in it. Also, she lives in a massive apartment in New York, I didn't think she was hurting for money. She just decided to shame Carrie cause she didn't want to pay. And Carrie's speech to Charlotte about, as a single person after graduation , you don't really get presents celebrating things. -
Why would they demand to know where Brenda is? "How dare she not want to go skiing?" Like, jeez.

Poldark (2015) Series 2 Speculation WITH Spoilers
Pogojoco replied to Nampara's topic in Poldark (2015)
While I am glad Ross won't be a rapist (which, by the way, has less to do with keeping Ross 'heroic' than keeping him appealing sex symbol for the people of the English speaking world. He can be an anti-hero, he can be a bad boy but making him a rapist in this version is a bridge too far.) I'm still disappointed that the sex is happening at all because Elizabeth is a drip in this show. I know it's in the book, but ugh. Ross' continued infatuation with her when he married the far more interesting woman just makes him kind of a boob. There was a poll the BBC ran on Twitter at the end of the first season "Demelza or Elizabeth" and it was overwhelmingly pro-Demelza. So Ross betraying Demelza, though with consensual sex, is going to be a hit on that character. It's not going to be seen as heroic. -
BTW, the KyMajesty lipstick reviews on Youtube are pretty amazing- the tube is half empty. This is my favourite- her nails are both beautiful and alarming and she begins it with "Kylie.....Kylie.....Kylie...."

Also, BRANDON GOT ARRESTED, TOO, JIM. FOR CRASHING HIS CAR WHILE DRUNK.
-
Barry Bonds is back to looking like a normal human- he's still bald, but he's skinny and he smiles. Also, I like that Barry's character's name is still Barry. Like a different name was too much for him to play.

Which was your favorite episode or season of HoW?
Pogojoco replied to Jude-Fjackets's topic in Hell On Wheels [V]
The White Spirit is probably the best single episode. -
Well, if Jamie is heir to Casterly Rock, I guess he could marry Danaerys. Really, though, if Dany wins the whole thing, she has a hell of a lot of houses to build up. End winter and start making babies, Westeros. Highgarden (Tyrell) has an old lady, Dragonstone (Baratheon) has no one, Riverrun is in flux, the Vale has sad little Robin Arryn. The Iron Borne are fighting. Does anyone named Lannister actually live at Casterly Rock? Cersei took out Kevan and Lancel- and all her children are dead. I know there are a tonne of Lannister cousins in the book, but will it transfer in the show? Or is it Cersei, Jamie and Tyrion? Dorne is strong, but those ladies are crazy. Even lesser houses- no one is at the Dreadfort. After the Battle of the Bastards, how many from House Mormont are left, other than a completely awesome little girl? I think that's what I've taken away from this episode and maybe from the whole season- it was absolute carnage. All five kings are finally dead and some of the people that killed the five kings are also dead. The recapper at IO9 said this- at the Red Wedding- Grey Wind was shot with arrows, Robb was stabbed and Catelyn had her throat slit. The chief perpetrators- Tywin Lannister, Roose Bolton and Walder Frey were shot with arrows, stabbed and had their throat slit, respectively.

Oh, I don't consider him deserting. But not everyone in Westeros knows he rose from the dead. Tormund, Melisandre, Davos saw the corpse and the ritual. The Night's Watch knows it, and I think Jon told Sansa, who told Brienne. But who else? They said nothing to Ramsey about it when he brought up "forgiving" Jon for breaking his vows.
