Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out
shelley1234 replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
Meh, he's playing a game. I don't assume that Derrick manipulates everyone in his life all the time because he happens to be good at the game that is Big Brother. It's apples and oranges to me. I think Derrick happens to be better than the average bear at this game because his job has prepared him to be, not that he's a manipulative fuck at home with his family and loved ones. He's also been really good in this game because he's been kind, supportive and nice to everyone...one of the main reasons he's never been on the block. -

I did a quick google search on salaries for sergeants in Central Falls, RI. They can start as little as 39K a year and usually max out at 65K. Unless Derrick is somehow pulling down massive overtime, he isn't rolling in money. He also started working for the police dept when he was 20 years old when Cody was hanging out in his dorm room. Cody also coulda put the money from his modeling gigs to paying down a chunk of that staggering college debt too. Just sayin. I am not saying Cody doesn't deserve the money or that he wouldn't do good and valuable things with it, but it doesn't mean the same isn't true of Derrick. He'd pay off his house (and housing prices in RI are through the roof) and set up a college fund for his daughter). Have I mentioned I DO like Derrick? ;) lol -

I could understand how someone would think that, I just don't see it along those lines. I think she's smitten with him, maybe even loves him, but don't think she's in love with him. Now if he came into the house single, she woulda been snuggling up to him in bed from Day 2. @BigBrotherLeak 2h Victoria can't stop freaking out about getting Panera. Derrick: "Relax. It's a fucking sandwich." #BB16 I read this on twitter and it made me laugh. It's a fucking sandwich Victoria! ;) -

Yep, I do. If I am playing arm chair psychologist....heck arm chair social worker since I am one. I think Victoria feels very safe with Derrick. I would also hypothesize that she has had little experience relating and talking with adult males. I think that since Derrick is a safe male, she is in many ways using him for practice. I think she thinks really highly of Derrick, but do I think she's in love with him, no I don't. The conversation between Derrick and Victoria about her hair and how someone will find her beautiful someday for her is what cemented my thinking about their relationship and what it means to both of them. -

Cute. Also, poor Cody who is convinced that America detests him. He'll leave the house, albeit a lot poorer than he could have been and at least be pleasantly surprised that he isn't loathed. -
Me? If I was Derrick's wife, I wouldn't care at all. I'd see him being nice to someone, however consistently putting her in the friendzone and respecting my marriage. I don't think he's shown anything in the house that would make me worry if I was his spouse. I think Derrick befriended her because it's the kind of guy he is. Joey made a video talking about the houseguests and along with saying she hated Christine a million times over, she said Derrick was the nicest when you were on the block. Other people ignored and stopped talking to you, but not Derrick...he was still nice and friendly and she really appreciated that. Anyways, I know I am getting off topic. So I'll slap my own hand before someone does it for me.

Derrick's wife and child will be at the finale (or so said his twitter feed)....so no worries about the alternate version stated here (which would never happen anyways whether she was there or not).

Meh. I thought it was overly cheesy, but I'll watch anything with Wilson Cruz in it, so I'll give it a few episodes.

I disagree what much of the characterization of the relationship with Derrick and Victoria. Derrick isn't some big bad and she's an adult and therefore is responsible for her actions and stupidity, etc. She's not a doll or an infant. Derrick has also been very clear in his language and actions....constantly mentioning his wife and referencing Victoria as a little sister that he is not trying to have her as a "house wife" IMO. And Derrick has taken both Cody and Victoria with him on his route to the win. Cody earned his spot more since he has actually won things along the way. Additionally, Derrick's game was benefited by keeping Victoria around until the end. If Derrick kept her in the game, she was a constant person to put up and say she was the target while targeting the person he actually wanted to get out of the house. It benefited Derrick, it benefited Victoria. Now Derrick is at the end and what is useful is knowing that both people would take him if he happened to not win HoH. Who he would take doesn't really matter, he wins regardless. Now that Victoria is out of the running, Derrick just has to ride out Victoria's whining and the prize is there. -

I think people will buy them. It's amazing the amount of pointless shit people will buy. And about the money, sure winning 550K is better than 50K, but neither are really life changing amounts of money in the grand scheme of things. I think for most people who play the game, it is more about the adventure and the act of winning than the actual prize. -

This was RT'ed on Derrick's twitter page and I LOL'ed a lot. They (and by They I mean his wife or family or whoever has control of his twitter page while he is in the house) also plan on selling Hit Men t-shirts. Ugh. -
That would be interesting to see. I would hope that Derrick's wife would be confident in their relationship and marriage and know their friendship doesn't in any way threaten that. In that way I see Derrick's behavior as vastly different than Christine's.
-
I think that Victoria absolutely has a crush on Derrick or as I call it....a smitten kitten. However, the difference for me is that she knows Derrick is married and that nothing will happen or even think about happening. Derrick has made it clear about his commitment to his wife and family and Christine didn't give off that same impression. Derrick has emphasized the BIG BROTHER/LITTLE SISTER because he knows how Victoria is feeling and wanted to constantly reframe that relationship. I think Derrick cares about her, but in a way that does not jeopardize or demeans his relationship with his wife.

I can kinda understand that. If Derrick and Cody named their F2 alliance and she and Derrick didn't name their F2 alliance, then which one is more legit and more important to Derrick? -

Yep, it was Andrew Gordon who was on BB12. He remember he got slop that was only for him that was certified kosher. I agree about the change of date of the finale as well. I think someone said that they knew the contract extended to a certain date, but they thought the finale was not on Rosh Hashanah. Victoria may be willing to be in the house or to be on under contract, but having the finale on that holiday is kind of different and they changed that while they were in the house. I knew I read that Victoria wondered if her family is going to choose to come because of the change in date and that's really unfortunate. -

I don't necessary agree with that. You could say it would be arrogant and misguided for Christians to do the same thing, but then again no one would ever schedule something during a major Christian holiday. That's my problem. -
I'd guess they are prescribed, but only because it is super duper easy to get drugs of abuse prescribed these days. I could go see my doctor tomorrow and just describe some random symptoms and have my hands full of drugs.

I so agree on this. I am a wee bit obsessed with sports and in particular baseball. I am a die hard Red Sox fan and watch the games every single day. It would drive me crazy to not know what and how the Sox were doing for that long. I'd be constantly tempted to ask Julie...HOW ARE THE SOX DOING? during the live broadcasts. -

Hmm. Interesting. I just went and voted....for Zach this time and so I counted. It let me vote all 20 times. -
You're probably right, but you never know. Companies know about Teen Mom and know how many people watch the show. If they are driving around in their car all season long, it could be considered cheap advertising.

Oh my god Victoria...shut up. The only reason you are still sitting there at all is because Derrick put things in place to have you sitting there. So, you'd feeling stupid? Feel lucky and IMO grateful you made it this far. It would be smarter for Derrick to take Victoria, but good dammit, I want him to take Cody. -
I always wonder about these cars if they might be able to work out a deal knowing that they would be seen on the show, etc. I know they aren't celebrities, but close enough and many celebrities get a lot of free items up to and including cars that they give them because them owning them is basically advertising. Who knows, but I have always wondered. If Cory did get custody, I assume his or Miranda's family would help. I also think he could afford to put Grace into daycare and Ali is already in school, etc. It's more complicated for Leah to do because of the baby, but Cory and Co. don't have that issue. If Kail and Javi are able to figure it out, I am sure Cory and Co. can.

No way! How could that happen??? Unreal! *sarcasm* I agree, especially since they moved the date of the finale. I guess it would be different, but still shitty if the contestants knew it when they signed up and signed on anyways, but changing to the high Jewish holiday in the middle of the game is just totally uncool. This wouldn't even be considered an option if it was a big Christian holiday that they were considering. -
The People's Court - General Discussion

I thought MM eyes were gonna fall out of her head. Anyone else but me also watch Franklin and Bash? I think that woman needs to hire them...since there was an episode where one of the lawyer's mom was arrested for being a prostitute, however she said she was a sexual surrogate and she would teach people how to have better sexual relationships. I said out loud as this episode was playing....SHE'S A SEX SURROGATE and LOL'ed!
