  1. That 45 minutes went by really fast -- a sign of an excellent episode. The standout scene for me was Tawney confessing to Teddy about what happened with Daniel, that he'd asked if he could kiss her, and that she felt a connection with him. I was tense, waiting for Teddy's reaction, and he surprised me. Did she tell him because she felt guilty and had to confess, or because she's worried that the feeling is still there, and she needs Teddy to do something about it? Whichever it was, the little kiss might not have been enough. Happy that Daniel woke up and seemed pleased to be alive, joking with his mom and Amantha. Who wouldn't be happy though, after having that ass**** intruding on your coma!
  2. Can't believe Ramona was actually going to phone Aviva to psychoanalyze her "ailiments". I liked Carole's hiking dress -- woman's a romantic, that's all that's about. Kristen -- nobody wanted to geocache, and if the treasure was buried even a little bit, they had no tools to dig it up with. She was more bossy than Heather. If somebody wants to do their own thing, let them.
  3. What is the Particles recap and where can it be found?
  4. Does the picture look stretched out to you guys? We have DirecTV and for some reason, the ratio looks "off", like it's shown in letterbox, with the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. It makes me wonder if I'm seeing the show as it's meant to be seen.
  5. "I didn't remember Melvin, so thanks for the reminder of who he is. I really loved one line of his -- "Regrets grow tiresome." Yes! For once, a socially awkward character who -- like Daniel -- has something to say that's worth hearing, and who says it without tics, no stammering, hemming and hawing, shuffling of feet, flop sweat, etc.
  6. I thought Teddy's neck pain was from the coffee encounter. But I don't remember how that went down, just how it ended. Odd and sad that Teddy could only manage to hold Tawney for a few seconds.
  7. I think Melvin is new. Apparently he was a childhood friend of Daniel's, and it looks like he may have feelings for Amantha. Or maybe he's just socially awkward. But what a well-written character! I've never warmed to Amantha -- which wouldn't bother her one bit -- but I warmed to her when she warmed to Melvin. So many people would just say "thanks for the turtle" and dismiss him. I'm okay with Teddy. He's jealous and insecure and doesn't have the insight to deal with that. Amazing episode, amazing show.
  8. Not the ending I expected. The good guy with a gun never follows through. I liked Molly's story about the glove but I don't know how it relates to Lester. It was obvious she knew he was responsible for Linda's death. So is she saying that if he hadn't arranged Linda's death, he would have had two gloves -- getting off scot-free for the death of his first wife, and living happily with his second? Help me out here, folks.
  9. I liked it and will keep watching, but I hope Peter (?) brings the killer to justice using the legal system rather than something more personal. I don't understand why he's not allowed to help with the prosecution. I also don't understand why the killer got off the first time -- just get a new jury! And I don't understand why he was allowed bail. There was an eyewitness to Kate's murder -- that's more evidence than they had for the first murder, and he wasn't allowed bail for that one.
  10. Big meh from me, on the big stuff anyway. I liked Mance and Jon, Arya and The Hound, and Varys scuttling aboard the ship, but that's it. I think even if I hadn't read the books, Tyrion killing Tywin and Shae wouldn't have been a surprise. It was a given. The writers failed to show any inner turmoil on Tyrion's part, and they could have done that by giving Shae some dialogue, and by earlier, making Tywin be just a teensy bit sorry about condemning his son to death.
  11. Wasn't sure where to put this -- just a heads up that Sundance is repeating season one starting at 9:30 p.m. CST Sunday, June 15. I'll be rewatching. I think I remember most of what happened but it's so good, I want to see it again.
  12. I thought the call from Las Vegas PD was a fake call -- that it was Malvo calling, to set up Lester. Because if there really was video of Lester, Malvo, and the victims in the elevator, they would have seen the whole thing and Las Vegas would have sent someone to Bemidji and Lester would be in custody. But it works just as well the other way, I guess.
  13. Malvo didn't shoot Lester in the elevator because he wanted help with the bodies. Lester would have been toast after that, and probably with Malvo's gun in his hand. Someone smarter than me can figure out the connection to the riddle. Maybe it has to do with Lester using Linda as bait. Lester's the cabbage and he gave Linda the Rabbit to Malvo the Fox? Except that cabbages can't think. I think Malvo knew who he was shooting. They were face to face, and there was enough time for him to know it wasn't Lester. I also think he knew Lester was in the car, but killing him there wouldn't be any fun. Now we'll have Lester with another dead wife to explain. The bear trap should be used next week.
  14. Not sure what happened there. I meant to add that the sex scene had the opposite effect for me. I stopped watching and took the show off the DVR. If they can't trust a viewer to recognize quality without pandering, then I can't trust them to give me quality. That said, I hope the show turns out to be worthwhile.
  15. Remembered a third thing I liked about this episode: When that guy came to get Janos Slynt off the top of the wall, saying he was needed down below. "They need me down below? Down there where I can hide? Cool! See ya, Snow -- you're in charge!" That was sort of a shoutout to Joffrey leaving the action in Blackwater. I did like that.
  16. This is the first time that I've preferred the book fight to the show fight. For one thing, it's not so damn dark in the book -- I can see who's doing what to who. What I liked best about the episode was after the fight, two men sitting close together on the steps, blink and you'd miss 'em. I also liked not seeing the fight with the giant at the gate, just seeing the aftermath. Did not like Ygritte hesitating, getting shot by the kid, then dying in Jon's arms and the dying words. Fan service, not realistic, sappy, trite. It diminished the character, and I'd be interested to know what Martin thought about it.
  17. Yeldarbe, you're brilliant! How did you know that? That's some esoteric shit right there. Hit Reply too soon -- molshoop, you're brilliant too. :)
  18. Any thoughts on the significance of this episode's title? "The Heap"? Heap of what?
  19. I'm only watching two shows right now -- Fargo and Game of Thrones. I couldn't help but compare Lester with Theon/Reek in this week's episodes -- both of them assuming personas that they couldn't quite hold on to. So that led to comparing Ramsey Snow and Pearl Nygaard, both emasculating.
  20. I haven't sympathized with most of her decisions. She doesn't listen, and neither Jorah nor Selmy have really pushed her, tried to get her to think past the moment.
  21. That took me back to Sansa in S1, being so proficient in her needlework. She must have been altering one of Lysa's dresses. And that took me back to the Gone with the Wind parody on Carol Burnett's show.
