  1. I bought wustoff knives in 1987. Still sharpen beautifully and are the best knives I own. And I have put them in the dishwasher every time I've used them.
  2. I've really come to like Demaris. I didn't like her on FNS due to the schtick and chest waggling. And I hated the initial concept for her show where she showed a man how to cook for a date. But I've seen a few eps lately and it's not that concept anymore. She is a very good cooking instructor. Please tell me the initial concept is gone for good?
  3. Most detective shows have episodes where their is more than one murder, either the villain covering up a loose end or finishing revenge/ vendetta. Whatever the reason there is often bodies piling up in detective shows before solved. But are there any Columbo eps with more than one murder?
  4. Shocking Twist!!!! Two associated contestants, engaged couple in this case, and they don't end up in a face off as the last two!!! OMG!! Instead, in a amazing display of backyard cooking that I've only seen topped by my buzzed neighbor last Sunday, the contestants were sent home in random order.
  5. "Did anyone enjoy (code word for "suffer through") her cowgirl brunch episode? The one where she serves the 1,500 calorie-sized slices of quiche with a side of coffee-flavored sweetened condensed milk? And her miserably thin and anemic looking maple scones. " Dear lord that drink looked gross! Her technique to make the coffee, throw a can of grounds in a tub of cold water and let it sit for 8 hours, was different. Would that make delicious coffee?
  6. So the grilling competition went from sad to pathetic. Burgers and dogs for Petes sake! Raw meat again! Horrible looking uninspired food. Pickle a zucchini! Was rice wine vinegar the only vinegar available?? Completely Unre-purposed ingredients! Teds beard is the best thing about Chopped Grilling Championship. Also, Alex's one liners "I am expecting some real backyard excitement from these burgers and dogs!" "These zucchini ribbons are really elegant!" Have they ever put out a call for tailgaters? They would probably do better than these Pitmasters. Cuz the grilling episodes have been the pits!
  7. What happened? That grilling competition featured not the worst baskets, fabulous proteins and a bunch of yuck was produced?? Maybe the time constraints got to our "prize-wininn' grillers"? Don't want to cut up a double cut pork chop? so serve raw! Same with cowboy steak! Put no effort into sides! It's a grillin' competition!
  8. I am in the camp that this is all scripted. I don't believe there is any way at all that Dom could be that bad on camera and have auditioned for/be on this show particularly in light of his talking heads. Emilia's outburst was not believable either for all the reasons mentioned particularly the "break the rules" t shirt. It makes sense they would suggest she roast her fellow contestants because that might create backstage drama as well. The producers are directing it and maybe bobby and giada aren't fully aware of the script but given the Justin and cowboy guy debacles I believe they picked a winner in advance and are manipulating their way to a foregone conclusion while manufacturing drama among the contestants and potential buzz.
  9. Lol at that citrus bundt cake! Using an elaborate (and expensive) bundt pan she turns out a gorgeous cake (albeit made with soda). The sloppily and crappily pours sugar icing all over it. Obscuring the beautiful nooks and peaks of the cake. Hahahahaha
  10. Usually we are not shown a confession. Often Columbia lays it out and they are shown, silent with defeat on their face. Then Columbia tells the sergeant to take them away.
  11. I agree the knowledge that Columbo had caused the guy to allow himself to be arrested. But even in the 70s I think a good lawyer would have no problem with the case at trial. But Columbo always mentally breaks them down. So I always assume they confess tho we are rarely shown that'
  12. Saw the one with dick van dyke as the photog who kills his wife, frames the guy just out of prison but is foiled in the end by Colombo. Love the ep and i consider it a perfect example. He trips him up in the end and that is satisfying but reality is there's nothing to go to a jury with. He knew which camera was on the evidence shelf? Newspaper cuttings on the motel floor? Rented cars vs. cabs? Not going proves anything against the guy. But it is my assumption, always, that because the doer knows that Columbo definitely knows they always confess. Anyway love this episode. Good villian with understandable motive. Fun hunt for Columbo some laughs along the way.
  13. As it regards the ratings FN and CC has put on cooking shows Diring the weekend days. Tee and Nancy etc are the highest rated cooking shows on the network because they are the ONLY cooking shows on. And the are on in the prime spots no?
  14. Maybe there's a spinoff here. Survivalist meals for the zombie apocalypse.
  15. Well it says to dump all cans with liquid. Sad. I didn't notice on the tv but it's 3 different types of beans. So gross!
  16. I am going to check that 7 can recipe on the website. It might say to drain the beans, God willing. Will report back
  17. Good god that 7 can soup! Using the can liquid, adding "generous" amount of salt , then velveeta! How can she not acknowledge the sodium level of that soup??
  18. Goodness that 7 can soup- words fail me! Cute idea but using the can liquid and then adding a generous amount of salt?! Then velveeta! The sodium count must be off the charts.
  19. I watched publish or perish lady night and boy is that a good one. Columbo is super serious the whole time, very little faux fawning over the criminal. It really seems like he isn't sure who did it till the very end unlike others where he is locked in on the right guy from the start. I also noticed how loud the sound of clothing and papers rustling was turned up!
  20. What is with all these "chefs" and their mashed potato recipes?? Besides Paul's seen we've are and now Daphne turn mashed potatos into cream and butter with a bit of potato as binder. Why??
  21. I've noticed it a lot and thought about it. It seems like a conscious choice-an atmosphere thing perhaps. Anytime he is somewhere with any possible background noise it is cranked up. Interested in folks thoughts if they notice it.
  22. I've noticed that the sound mixing is interesting on columbo. On almost every episode the background sounds are very loud. Whether it is a boat motor, exercise machine, ocean waves etc the background noises are really loud!!
  23. Yes aunt Jess. I watch on MEtv on Sunday nights. Well actually I DVR it and watch it while I fall asleep. I can usually get two nights out of one episode. I've never seen any of the newer ones. On a side note I wish MEtv would show Macmillan and wife. I fondly remember that show from my childhood as well as Columbo
  24. 44! Yeah that makes it ridiculous
