I agree with both of the thoughts. They fill time with these political operatives, they sometime push back against spin and lies but "have to leave it there" when the segment ends. The bottom line for me is that CNN is not a political news station but a news station. I wish they would cover the political stories with expert or journalists and then spend the rest of the time covering some of the many many other interesting stories going on in the country and world at any given time!!!! CNN has become a one trick pony. One story at a time. Politics with paid hacks ad nauseum broken up only by coverage of the latest mass shooting. The USA Today does better for gods sake.

Could Joe love a live audience any more?? Soon he's going to have cute pet tricks and start a cooking demo segment.

I saw the re-run of the 7 can soup today. The horror of that slop episode is always going to be shocking no matter how many times I see it. I'll never be able to get over it. The liquid from the cans of beans! The cheese! My god.....

Ok Barnicle. In talking about the autistic caregiver who was shot by police in Florida he said "we just don't know what happened. We just don't know. We can't say what happened" Hello Barnicle ? We just watched a video of the event and heard a police spokesman read an explanation of the cops perspective. We do know almost exactly what happened it just doesn't make sense. Barnicle- No need to open your pie hole and speak random phrases. Just sit there and look pretty.

Maybe it's their lurrvvve affair that's draining them. Plus coordinating their outfits must be tiring in the mornings.

So according to Joe, Trump and his family watch the show every day therefore he can use the show to advise Trump on his VP pick. Guess that rationalizes in Joes ego why Trump hasn't hired him. But Joe haven't you heard the saying "why pay for the milk when u can get the cow for free!" Unless he's still auditioning for a role in the administration I sincerely hope Christie isn't the pick just to deflate Joe. And it looks like it's gonna be not-ready-for-prime time-Pence whom Joe advised against so tomorrow will be fun!!

I interpreted it as the Earl wanted the Tiger killed and the while situation broke his heart and he moved to Nairobi. Groggins the caretaker was supposed to shoot the tiger but didn't. The researcher was paying Grogginns for food and other tiger care. When Morse said Groggins wasn't feeding the tiger he was beginning the idea that the researcher was paying for feeding and caring for the tiger.

I tuned in to see Mika hosting alone. So the network thinks this vain vapid wannabe can handle a 3 hour morning show alone. Then as she threw to commercial with a teaser regarding a story about Twinkies the headline under her said " The Rise of the Twinkie". I thought that's about right.

It's one thing if they're sleeping together but "in love" with each other is foul. Although they deserve each other. They must spend a lot of time admiring themselves in mirrors and complimenting each other.

All I can say is Thank god there are new companies running ads! I was soooo tired of the same five ads being run for 3 hours and it's been months of just those ads. Copper Fit and Recoating stuff and even Coolwhip are a welcome change of pace! Still can't ditch that incessant recycling PSA tho.

the other day CNN comes back from commercial and Carol Costello says "ok we have some breaking news and we're going to bring it to you after another short break" in such a crying voice. I mean it really sounded like she was emotionally destroyed. Given the fact they went to another break before the news my mind went to the Newtown school shootings and some of the other major tragedies recently and I was nervous. Back from break she is on about the breaking news in the same emotionally destroyed manner and the breaking news was...GOP leaders not happy with Trumps comments about Judge she is too much!

Annoying this morning! All before 7 am! First of all Mika using her "lecturing mom" voice to address the camera and chastise and yell at Trump. "You have to apologize! At least, at least!" Look lady it's early, I have my own problems, please don't use that tone and yell at me. And also Mika are you so sure he's watching you or do you want everyone to believe he is by addressing him directly? Please dial it down a bit. Then we have Joe commenting on the NY Times article on HRC getting the nomination "what an extraordinary milestone for Hillary Clinton" as he tosses the paper, and the subject, to the side. It's actually a milestone for America ya jerk. Let's talk about the Koch brothers opinion on Trump instead. Then we have video in which a man tries to snatch a young girl away from her mother in a store. The mother fights back, hangs on to the child , gets dragged by the creep who is dragging the daughter she is holding on to. Creep gives up, flees, get arrested. Mika's comment on this is " can you believe that mother? She saved her life". Ummmm yes Mika I can believe that mother. You'll have that with mothers- protecting their daughters no matter what. Yes she probably got rumpled, her hair was messed up maybe even chipped her pedi in the process but I can, in fact, still believe that mother did that.

This has been bugging me for a while! They bring on candidate's surrogates/ spokespeople way too often! I guess it is the nature of 24 hour news channels that they will use anyone to fill the hours. And the candidates have plenty of people at the ready. I would like to see them focus the political coverage where they are having lengthy panel discussions to specific hours a day and then try to get actual informed humans ( like Robert Reich or governors or Ash Carter) instead of panels of spokespeople and other journalist.

Did Joe's weave return to some semblance of normality today?

I didn't watch yesterday. But I see Joe has a very dark dye job on his hair today. Looks ridiculous.

Mika was terrible with the breaking news about the plane this morning. She wouldn't make it at a small market local station reading the news with her halting, obvious reading and that confused tone. At one point someone on the panel was telling that Agency France Presse was reporting two swerves, 90 degrees and 360 degreesthat the plane took. He mentioned this wasn't verified but that AFP was a well respected news organization. She follows up with a question. Not what might those two swerves tell us about what happened to the plane but asks who would have told whom about that information. I changed to CNN where they were actually discussing the swerves

I really enjoyed this episode. It was very true to character. There is really no other way he could handle a multi day conference! Loved that he just went into that sort of ghetto to look for the boy. And that when he found him and the boy pulled a gun on him you could see that wallender realized that he couldn't necessarily talk this kid down. He didn't understand this kids life or motivations. It was a great scene.

Were Mika and Joe not invited to the WHCD?

I am enjoying watching these characters crack up. I don't mind the dark grim tone ( although I could not watch the convos between the mother and son or the hanging). It is different from last season and they haven't really explained why evetyone is so cranky but Sydney has reasons. He mishandled his relationship with Amanda and Now she is weaving herself back into his life at every chance in the guise of supporting him. Like her husband would actually let her! Sydney's job is to make everyone happy and spiritually whole while he is neither-that's irritating for him. As viewers we are accustomed to the main character confessing the source of his mental agony and that beginning the end of the agony Sydney confessed to Geordie about his war killing and we haven't seen any flashbacks this season so I believed we had moved on to some trauma in Geordies past. But perhaps Sydney, as the poster stated above, is still seeking redemption. I'd like to see Mrs. Maguire go off on Sydney. He could use a stern talking-to. Geordie's having a simple mid life crisis as far as I can tell. He kissed another woman who was flirting and flattering. Not a Big Deal even then. Why did he stay out all night? Why was he so familiar with "Ri" the abused wife? His mid life crisis is causing him to want to right all the wrongs in the world. He is naturally a little jealous of his great looking, younger, talented, morally unambiguous friend. Not a surprise they are clashing. The filming and staging is very different this season and that is contributing to the depressing feel for me. Tight shots of faces instead of broad expanses of countryside. Geordies appeared visibly dirty this episode. Wash your face man! And I guess his wife won't do his laundry anymore. He looks like he smells of day old beer, smoke and sweat. I hope Leonard can be bold but I bet he goes to Sydney for approval first. The case was a throw away this week. I don't mind all the drama if the put a little more mystery in the case. But the last two cases have been morally ambiguous so that is the thread they seem to be pulling. I don't like seeing the main characters falsely accused two weeks in a row though. What's next? Leonard gets caught being bold and gets arrested? I hope not. Lastly, I hope we get a break from Amanda now.
