  1. Tyler and Cole are on different teams. Did you mean Tyler and KOREY?
  2. So aren't the Democratic and Republican primaries usually held on the same day? Why no mention at all of the Edison vs. Vargas match-up, which presumably happened at the same time? We don't have any idea of who the frontrunner in that election is-- I guess we're not supposed to care.
  3. I would argue that Edison is probably as qualified as Vargas.
  4. Why did they keep referring to "Russia" as opposed to the Soviet Union or the USSR? I know that many people continued to use "Russia" as a synonym for the USSR out of habit, but by the 1980s it had pretty much died out. (Of course now we're having to remember to go back to "Russia.") Anyway, it seemed out of character, especially for Philip, to use "Russia."
  5. Tell that to the people who watch "Sleepy Hollow" or "Castle."
  6. Totally agree on the totally ridiculous revelation about Matt's ethnicity. There is NO way that wouldn't have come up well before this and that the rest of the staff wouldn't know about it. So whatever happened to Russell? He's been MIA in the last two episodes, right? I hope he didn't end up like Buttercup.
  7. I'm not sure how blatant it could be when the name of the actual company wasn't even shown. Aren't there several similar meal delivery services? And people who've never used them wouldn't know about the silver insulation, which could also be used by other services as well.
  8. This is somewhat misleading -- there was no outbreak of typhoid AT Nonnatus House. Can someone please explain Tom's clerical status? They refer to him as "Mr. Hereward" or "Tom" so I guess he's not entitled to be called "Father" or addressed with some other honorific. I really don't know much about Church of England-- is he a vicar? A priest? (And is there a difference between them?) I'm just confused.
  9. I guess I must be really old, because I was surprised that not a single racer said "Why did it have to be SNAKES?"
  10. I wonder if any of the Race planners are old enough to remember the old cigarette advertising slogan "I'd walk a mile for a Camel."
  11. I'm not clear on why Phillip changed into his "Clark" disguise when he was at the apartment. Martha already knows about his real appearance. Was he trying to match the wedding picture photo? I understand that he might not have wanted to appear as Phillip, but what was the point of becoming Clark? Also, I noticed in the opening credits this week that Annet Mahendru (Nina) is gone (for obvious reasons) but that they also added Brandon J. Dirden, who plays Aderholt, as a regular for the first time. So I guess that means his character will be around for a while?
  12. How about the midwives? After messy, grueling childbirths, their clothes, hair, and general appearances all seem to be pretty nice.
  13. I apologize if this is an ignorant question, but I know absolutely nothing about breastfeeding (no children, nieces or nephews.) Is there some reason they couldn't pump milk from the woman who was having trouble breastfeeding? Was that not possible or available in the early '60s? It seems like that would've been the best solution to her particular problem.
  14. Has anyone noticed that in the past few seasons, the issue of money is no longer discussed? They used to always tell us how much each team received for each leg of the race, and there were always situations where teams actively tried to save money (or even beg for money) in order to have enough to take taxis, etc. Lately it seems like there's never an issue-- even when a taxi would obviously end up costing more than it should because they went in the wrong direction at first, or if they had to go back and change taxis.
  15. I was really hoping some team would end up in Atlanta.
  16. So they found a way to keep me from fast-forwarding everything until the opening credits. It's usually just the "previouslies," but this week there was actual race stuff going on. Wouldn't it have been easier to string the nuts by holding each nut on the table and stabbing the needle into it? Certainly less chance of finger damage that way, and you get the benefit of more strength to force the needle into the nut from up above.
  17. So, "the election is in full swing" as the episode description tells us, but no Susan this week (she was barely even mentioned), and have they just forgotten about Edison? Mellie made it seem like a foregone conclusion that Vargas would be the Democratic nominee, yet apparently his team is are concerned about winning primaries. I'd also gotten used to having Sally and her Liberty Report on a regular basis; she was missed this week, too. I guess I've been caught up in the recent election episodes and hoped they'd continue along that path. We really didn't need this interruption with Andrew's story.
  18. It's not an egregious problem, it's just confusing. I guess what I don't understand is the convention of using the "Part" numbers, which seem to be irrelevant. Anyway, question about the episode: What was the music that the orchestra was playing in the scene at the end where they were at Jimmy Dillon's place? It is the same music TCM uses in its introduction to many of its movies (usually the non-hosted ones.)
  19. Only at the very end. The initial split-screen shot of Cuba and OJ was of the real OJ seated in the courtroom during the trial. I'm pretty sure ACS would not be in the same category with the other two shows, because those are regular series. It WILL, however, be in the same category as the similarly-named "American Crime," which already won an Emmy last year for Regina King. I just discovered today that Dale Godboldo, who played Carl Douglas, was a Mouseketeer! He was on the '90s revival along with Keri Russell, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake.
  20. I've decided to ask Santa to bring me my own Omar for Christmas this year.
  21. I don't think that was Mesa Verde's (the bank) address but rather the address of a property that was the subject of a mortgage or a sale or some other transaction in which MV was a participant.
  22. Has there ever been an episode of non-anthology TV series (comedy or drama) in which not a single member of the regular billed cast appeared?
  23. Every week the proceedings, especially at the academy, get more and more preposterous. I wish Seth and Amy were still on SNL so they could do a "Really? REALLY?" recap of each week's episode.
  24. From memory, these are the things in the recap that weren't in the US episode (please correct me if I'm wrong): 1. Family Planning Soufflé: Nurse Crane has some weird ideas about how having the choice to use diaphragms makes women think they're "entitled to pick and choose" other things in their lives. Um, yeah...how crazy of them. 2. Complicating Factors: She was hoping she could have a nun deliver the baby, "not one of you young 'uns," she tells Patsy. "I bet you've all got lovely bleedin' bums!" 3. Who called the meeting? Sisters Winifred and Mary Cynthia. What's it about? Fixing up a box of castoffs for Baby Susan. How'd it go? Sister Winifred wonders if there's not "something in the atmosphere" causing the recent rise of recent birth defects. Sweet little Sister MC reveals that she had a brother who was born with hydrocephaly. Her mother would advise that if people stared, she should stare back. But she never got to, because the staring jerks had already looked away to shake their heads in judgment. She resolves that Susan should have her own clothes, from her own family.
  25. After reading the recap, I was distressed at how many scenes/interactions from this episode seem to have been cut by PBS. Why are they doing this? They have time at the end of each show for some filler material, so why can't they show the complete episode?
